Great coffee house and great bagels! I got the pesto cream cheese and tomato open face bagel. Delicious, and fresh tasting. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll iced latte as well. It's dog friendly and has a nice small patio as well as a case of pastries. The service was also friendly. A group of friends and I were visiting SD for the weekend, and our Airbnb was right around the corner from Santos. A few of us went by to grab coffee for the group. The shop is relatively small, with seating inside and out. Their menu had all the standard coffee drinks and they had a wall of various Torani syrups - sugar free included. Their menu also had bagels, pastries, and various hot breakfast items. The barista working that day very patiently and kindly took our order, and the drinks were out in a timely manner. Everyone seemed to enjoy their coffees and we got our caffeine buzz to start the day. I appreciated their quality and service. read more

Was here early morning driving past on the freeway but needed coffee and something to fill my stomach. Had a long drive and this place was the only place open at 600am. I'm really glad it was. The lady working was kind of quiet but it's fine at 6am. The atmosphere was nice even outside seating. There was merchandise there for purchase which I am now upset I didn't grab a shirt. While I was waiting for my drink and bagel, there was a lady there that doesn't work there was helps out, water plants, and fills the doggy bowl. Cute little coffee shop went in while I was visiting it's very cozy in the morning cold days. We got Coffee and hot chocolate wasn't overly sweet just the perfect sweetness level& coffee was good. Checking out various coffee shops in the North Park area within walking distance of our rental cottage. Santos is very cute, right near the Parkside Market. Ample indoor and outdoor seating, lots of different coffee and tea options including their recommended specials. I tried a special and I really should stop doing this since most specialty coffees are too sweet for my taste. But service was great and I was admiring their various breakfast bagel sandwiches and lunch bagel sandwiches and am hoping to go back to try one of those. read more

Soooo happy I popped into this place today! It's the cutest little coffee shop tucked away in a neighborhood so I honestly would've never found it if I wasn't looking online for new places to try. I got the açaí bowl (pro tip: get the peanut butter blended in!) and the salted pistachio latte (might be seasonal). Both were delish! Today we stopped by Santos Coffee House by pure accident since we were walking by. I was completely spaced out as to what time it was and walked in to order coffee and snacks right at their closing time. Had no idea. The staff were so gracious and never mentioned it. My husband simply asked for the Confession breakfast sandwich but on a bagel instead of a croissant. Instead of calmly explaining that the Holy Grail is the same thing, she just kept repeating "Holy Grail" louder and louder like we were the problem. It's not that hard to explain something with basic courtesy. If she can't show patience for a simple question, I can't imagine how she'd treat someone with a language barrier or a special need. Super fast and friendly service, which makes this a great local gem. Unfortunately, I do not recommend their baked goods (croissants, muffins, banana bread); they taste like Von's market quality if that's your jam. Very dog friendly owners, I love that I can chill with my dog outside in the patio. I'd heard great things and wanted to love it. My husband's black coffee tasted weak/watered down, and the wait was longer than expected. It's an extremely dog-friendly spot (multiple customers brought dogs inside), and while I know that's a plus for some, I personally don't enjoy dogs inside places where food is served. The main issue for me was food handling: I saw the person preparing an açaí bowl lick her fingers after scraping the blender, and then the cashier came over and cut banana for the bowl; I did not see her wash hands first. A lovely walk on Thorn Street will take you right by Santos Coffee, pretty hidden next to the salon and Grand Ole BBQ. I just found out about it and it's the cutest cafe with such a great concept. They serve bagel sandwiches in addition to their coffee and I was so happy to discover it! There are really not enough bagel places in SD when sometimes all I need is a bagel and cream cheese!! There's lots of seating inside and outside for groups to grab coffee together and catch up. It was also all women behind the counter leading the orders and I felt a great atmosphere eating there. Their signature drink is the Flying Nun which is definitely strong and sweet. The Vietnamese was a little watered down but not bad. I was a tad disappointed with the avocado toast; the bread was very simple and low quality (would not satisfy me by itself) but the bagel sandwiches were good. My friend said she enjoyed the açaí bowl too. I noticed last second they had some new sandwiches on the menu so I'll have to come back and try them. read more

The cafe au lait tasted like over brewed (burnt) coffee. Had to ask for more milk to mask the burnt taste. The peanut butter cup mocha was good - sweet but not indulgent. The ghost bagel sandwich was good- ample amount of cream cheese, bacon was crispy and the cucumbers! better than the ones at Einstein Bagel. Their bagel sandwiches are definetly worth coming for. Tried the exorcist and holy grail and both very delicious. I think the ghost sandwich is slightly better but all three so far are very good. Definetly will be back to try some of their other sandwiches Got the sugarless mocha and it was way better than the peanut butter one. The service was just as good as the first time. Best Apricot Black Tea. It's very refreshing to find a place that 1) brews ice tea correctly 2) keeps said tea in a clean Container. Using the same Container and not cleaning it out the tea will develop an aftertaste. Not the case here they nailed it. I brought my pup and didn't know but the staff seemed off not even my pup could bring some life into the shop that day. It wasn't lively very somber dark good for finals or board prep. I wasn't going to write a review but after my experience with one of the owner's I feel that I need to. To start it off, I've been coming to this place for a while and it's been great until recently. On Wednesday morning I came in for a coffee and even before I enter the vibe of the place felt off. There was an old white man outside that was just staring me down the entire time making me feel uncomfortable. As I entered, I walked up to the counter but the owner working there that morning came off a certain way and seemed almost annoyed with me even though all I had been doing was just standing there. After I ordered my drink I noticed that she was much more friendly and talkative with the white customers that ordered after me which added to the feeling of her having an issue with me. I ignored it and tried not to overthink it but something kept feeling weird for me. I got my ordered and left to work as I was driving I noticed that Vietnamese coffee looked weird and I am sure it was made incorrectly. I emailed them through a square receipt that I got after paying and let them know that my drink tasted more like Milk with a hint of coffee and that my experience there was overall terrible and her behavior towards me felt almost racist. I then checked my emails next morning and saw that she had emailed me apologizing for the quality of the drink and refunded me my money and apologized for her behavior letting me know that she was overwhelmed and was in the process of training an employee which I completely understood. I used to work in the service industry and specifically as a barista so I completely understand that feeling. I would have the left the issue at that since I felt that it was resolved. I noticed that after the first email she sent me she followed up with another email completely invalidating my experience and trying to gaslight me for saying that the behavior felt racist. She then used the white excuse of I have an ethnic partner and hire PoC therefore I can't be racist. This is not the correct response to have towards a person of color telling you THEIR experience. Just cause you felt one way does not mean I can't feel a certain way about the experience. Overall her behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable especially for someone who considers themselves an "ally". read more

A great little cafe that has become a family favorite for all, including our puppy Oreo! We enjoy the coffee options from espresso to au laits! Our son Loves the Hawaiian shaved ice (the machine is really from Hawaii!) and they have a doggy yogurt called yogurtlicious that is a great frozen treat Oreo freaks out for!
