What a beautiful coffee shop/gift shop in a beautifully restored 1835 home! The Doscher's company moved to this restored, Newtown historic home in 2017. Candy tours are no longer available. Our barista gave us a wonderful rendition of the history of the company and served us so well! Each drink comes with a caramel candy. There is a rewards program. Pastries from Golden Hands bakery (another local favorite) are available in the coffee shop! Highly recommend!

Stopped by just to check the place out not knowing it was home of the French chew. I have been buying these since I was a child. They make candy canes French chews, and the little candy buttons on paper. I never really cared for candy buttons because I always ended up eating paper. These camels are new right now. I have the original and the butterscotch, both of which are excellent. There are a multitude of flavors made, but just a few are available here. You can always find the French chews and the candy canes here. There are seasonal flavors too. I got the last novacane, a blueberry lime candy cane to numb the pain of 2020. It was tasty. French chews are always good they offer seasonal flavors such as peppermint taffy for Christmas and strawberry for valentines day in the candy canes. I'm interested to see what I still find here for the holidays as the seasons change. The tea room doesn't exist anymore COVID's doing. They are going to sell gift sets in the future. They also have tours offered in the morning.

Doscher's has the best candy canes ever! You must go:) They are also the creators of the French Chew Taffy. They have moved from Court St. Downtown to a circa 1835 home in quaint Newtown. It's beautiful it looks like a home and store from a Hallmark Christmas movie. This place is so good that I drove downtown for the candy canes, only to find out their location had moved to Newtown. So, over the river and through the woods I made my way to Newtown. You can buy single canes, small boxes of 6-12, or a box of 24! They also have extra large single canes, and bags of candy cane pieces for purchase. The French Chew Taffy comes in multiple flavors and sizes as well, traditional large bars or bags of mini taffy. This new space has so much potential. They offer tours, and there is a charming area to enjoy your treats. This space is set up like a cozy breakfast nook in the sun room, but enough tables that they could offer food some day.

I took my mom to the tea room attached to the candy factory and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back!

Famous for their varieties of French Chew taffies, Doscher's was founded in 1871 and has been featured on Food Network show "Unwrapped." Their French Chew taffy bars come in four flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and their most recent addition, banana. These bars can be pretty difficult to eat is you just bite into them. The trick is to freeze it and then break the bar into pieces while the wrapper is unopened. Doscher's must have recognized the trouble folks were having, so they now offer French Chew minis, which are actually softer than the bar version of the candy. You can pick up Doscher's French Chews at most locally owned grocery and candy stores, as well as a number of restaurants like Cracker Barrel. If you're craving a French Chew and can't find one any where, they are for sale (by the box) online at Doscher's website.

Cute little candy shop & factory in Newtown. Tours are coming soon after the holiday. They just relocated from downtown. They have places to sit and enjoy your confections and more parking than space in the small shop. Employees are excited to see you and want to share their passion for Doscher's candy canes. Definitely worth the visit with your kids or friends from out of town as they are the oldest candy cane factory in the US!

The old-school charm of the shop, with its vintage chairs and ice cream diner vibe, felt like stepping back in time. My wife and i decided to indulge in a sweet treat and as we waited for our orders. She opted for two scoops of chocolate and coffee, while i chose a unique sundae named bourbon it has vanilla, chocolate, and coffee all topped with hot fudge and caramel. Each bite was bursting with flavors that were both rich and unexpected, thanks to their homemade creations. The attendant proudly shared the shop's history having been open since 1908, adding a layer of nostalgia and authenticity to our experience. Walking away, i couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a delightful spot. The combination of rich history, exceptional flavors, and friendly service made Aglamesis Brothers a must-visit for anyone in Cincinnati seeking a memorable ice cream parlor experience. I'll definitely be back to savor more of their creations and to delve into the stories of their long-standing tradition. Until then, thank you for a truly delightful journey! From 5 to 1…read more.. Jungle Jim's East has introduced us to countless foods and products that we likely never would have discovered otherwise. For many years, our weekly routine was to stop at Sam's Club for staples, then head straight to Jungle Jim's. We'd grab a beer, leisurely wander the aisles, pick up the rest of our grocery list, and almost always leave with a few unexpected treasures. Unfortunately, over the past several months we've noticed a steady decline in the overall shopping experience. Prices have increased noticeably, the quality and consistency of the produce department no longer seem to be what they once were, and many everyday grocery items have disappeared from the shelves. These aren't obscure products, but rather common items that many shoppers regularly purchase. After asking about the changes, a checkout clerk confirmed that Jungle Jim's is intentionally shifting away from being a traditional grocery store and focusing more heavily on its international market offerings. While we understand and respect that business decision, it no longer aligns with the reason we originally shopped there. What made Jungle Jim's special for us was the combination of unique international products and the ability to complete most of our regular grocery shopping in the same trip. As that balance has changed, we've found ourselves making additional stops elsewhere to find basic items, often at better prices. As a result, we've decided to move most of our grocery shopping back to Kroger. We'll still visit Jungle Jim's occasionally for specialty and international products, but sadly it is no longer our primary grocery destination. We sincerely hope management reconsiders the direction of the store, because we'd love to return to the Jungle Jim's experience that made us loyal customers for so many years.

It's one thing to close early, but to post a handwritten sign calling the event "stupid" was shockingly unprofessional. It's figuratively and literally more than a bike race, it's a fundraiser that supports cancer research and survivorship through the CancerFree KIDS Pediatric Cancer Research Alliance. It brings thousands of people together for a cause that matters deeply, while also creating one of the most electric, family-friendly atmospheres you'll find in Cincinnati. From a business perspective, this was a massive missed opportunity. The streets were filled with people eager to support local shops and enjoy the events which is exactly the kind of audience any small business would hope for. Instead of welcoming that energy, Patty's turned it away and insulted the very people walking by their storefront. I love supporting small, local businesses, but this kind of response shows a disconnect from the community that makes Hyde Park special. I hope they reconsider how they respond to events like this in the future.

We stopped by after a visit to the Newtown Candy shop. We took some lobster roll kits and clam chowder home. They pride themselves on fresh seafood regularly flown in from around the world. Their pricing is double Jungle Jims and triple kroger. Can't say good or bad until we try the fresh fish. For example they have many types of Salmon from around the globe. $49.99 for Sea Bass is pricey for me. I think Halibut was $39.99 a pound and the salmon was $20-$30 a pound. They also make their own sides. The clam chowder had too many potatoes. On Friday and Saturday nights they cook a few meals out back in a small tent/room.
