Chocolate covered pretzels and Red Chocolate Cherries
    Jan M.

My husband and I made a quick trip out to Esther Price so I could pick up a box of Buckeyes I wanted to gift a friend in Texas. The shop is almost like walking into someone's home, it's nicely laid out with wall-to-wall candy. There's a wide selection of candy and chocolates. There is a separate section with gifts and souvenirs away from the candy area. I got my box of Buckeyes priced at a little over $11 which I thought was reasonable. My husband picked up some chocolate covered pretzels and a bag of Red Chocolate Cherries. He said the chocolate covered pretzels were good, he just a big fan of the Red Chocolate Cherries. I sampled a few pieces of the cherries and while they weren't bad, they just didn't do much for me either. The cherries aren't cordial cherries, but dried which tasted fine, perhaps it was just the red chocolate, not sure. My friend reported back to me that she loved the Buckeyes, so two goodies out of three isn't bad. There was a huge chocolate Easter bunny on the counter that definitely caught our eye, but we didn't buy any Easter candy on our visit. FYI, we were told the chocolate bunny weighed around 30 pounds and was solid except for the head area. Definitely a candy lovers shop, cute and quaint. Don't buy the drugstore chocolate, Esther Price has some nice treats.

I haven't been in Esther Price in years. I was driving by and pulled in on a whim. I only looked around the candy shop but there's a gift shop too. I found the Non Pariels I was looking for and grabbed some fudge too. I've never had their fudge before and it's creamy, delicious sweetness! The shop is cute and the staff were friendly and helpful. I won't wait so long to stop back in to grab more yummy chocolate.

Obsessed with Ester Price! Best part of growing up in the Dayton/Cincinnati area. I had the cream filled hearts at our wedding and all the out of towners were in love. So when we were back in town, I had to take my husband...KID IN A CANDY STORE literally. Not to mention they had a bulk candy sale, so he went nuts and we are still enjoying the candies today. Got to bring some to his family and share with friends. Indoors were clean, staff was friendly, and candy was incredible.

I have driven by this place so many times and yesterday I finally decided to check it out. Now I am kicking myself for not doing it sooner as they have all kinds of delicious goodies! My son love the jelly bean selections (thought we were here for chocolates?). My husband love Esther Price chocolates and so I grabbed a few chocolates to satisfy his sweet tooth. I also liked how they have Cincinnati theme gifts (Bengals, Reds, etc) in the back section. I will be back!!

Months later, I was hosting a party and special ordered a large box of Ester Price chocolates and "featured them" in my dining room.

The staff is welcoming and is generous with the tastings: four of us tried around ten flavors in all! It was a hot day, so this was our last stop by the market, so it would not melt on the way home. We got some bold Rüya dark 65% chocolate, flavored with Turkish espresso, with a touch of traditional cardamom expressing welcome. The cardamom flavoring is milder in this chocolate than it is in mideast coffee. That works for us. We got two with mild bourbon flavors: the somewhat-sweet Prohibition, and the lightly-orange seasonally-available Old Fashioned (reminiscent of the cocktail). We also got some seasonal slightly-fruity limited-edition Thailand 70% chocolate, one of our favorites. And we grabbed an assortment of lighter and darker sweet creams and truffles. We used to watch the bean-grinder in action here. Last year moved it to a new factory on the Licking River across the river in Lexington KY, a town where they also opened a second retail location in 2024 that includes gelato! The aroma here is lovely and chocolatey and roasty. The chocolate is divine.

I also purchased some truffles to take home, and I purchased enough to get a box but they were out of the small boxes. I told her I was traveling quite a distance and was concerned they would not make it. She said they would be fine and put them in a plastic bag. She could've offered the next size up in box! And indeed they did not make it. Hate I wasted money on these.

The old-school charm of the shop, with its vintage chairs and ice cream diner vibe, felt like stepping back in time. My wife and i decided to indulge in a sweet treat and as we waited for our orders. She opted for two scoops of chocolate and coffee, while i chose a unique sundae named bourbon it has vanilla, chocolate, and coffee all topped with hot fudge and caramel. Each bite was bursting with flavors that were both rich and unexpected, thanks to their homemade creations. The attendant proudly shared the shop's history having been open since 1908, adding a layer of nostalgia and authenticity to our experience. Walking away, i couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a delightful spot. The combination of rich history, exceptional flavors, and friendly service made Aglamesis Brothers a must-visit for anyone in Cincinnati seeking a memorable ice cream parlor experience. I'll definitely be back to savor more of their creations and to delve into the stories of their long-standing tradition. Until then, thank you for a truly delightful journey! The store itself is so aesthetically pleasing and very cute! Lovely decor and very picturesque like you could just sit down there for a bit and hang out with some girlfriends. The lady running the store also was very friendly and kind. She explained all the different types of items they have that were the chocolate peanut butter thdnet, with a lot of appealing options. But we ended up just going for the classic buckeye balls. As far as the taste - phenomenal! The chocolate and peanut butter flavor went perfectly well together and they were not too sweet or peanut buttery or anything. Everything was perfectly balanced. Very yummy! It also came with an Ohio shaped chocolate in the package, which was very thoughtful in my opinion.

I dare anyone not to overbuy at Ruby's. Furthermore, I dare anyone to walk out with just one thing or even have an easy time deciding what to take home. I've prepared tax forms easier than trying to make the decisions I had to make at Ruby's. So here are some examples of what I brought home: Milk Chocolate Turtle Bark Dark Chocolate Turtle Bark Cookies 'n' Cream Bark Milk Chocolate Covered Rice Krispy Treat Red Velvet Truffle Cake Mint-to-be Truffle Maple Bacon Truffle Cake (you will never find a cuter confection in your entire life!) Carrot Cake Truffle Cake Bacon Brownie Truffle Cake Cookies 'n' Cream Truffle Cake Milk Chocolate Squares Truffle Sampler Box Gummy Worms Joy Sticks I believe my take home list illustrates my personal lack of self control and how good Ruby's is. It was actually somewhat embarrassing and shocking to actually write it out. If you're looking g for something specific, and you don't see it, ask for it. If you're looking to do something specific, personalized or creative - call them. They will be more than willing to work with you. Beautifully and creatively decorated, Ruby's is a cool little spot to visit. It is a candy wonderland with a little bit of something for everyone. Whether you're buying a treat for the kids or want to bring something different and really make a splash with a gift, you need to stop in. You won't be disappointed. Would I go back? Yes, but..... In speaking with the owner Sina, we connected that there is another location closer to me in the Liberty Township, OH area. This location was about an hour from me, in rush hour traffic. So I may not frequent this location, I was very happy to hear of the other location in my area. Myself, my dentist and future endocrinologist are all looking forward to my return to another Ruby's Chocolate's location!
