As a matter of fact, I will take the First To Review a place that I grew up going to. With my mom and older sister highly involved in theater when I was a kid, many times of rehearsals and shows I spent in the audience. My mom even worked for the local theater company... which adds to those nights of doing homework in the seats of the Dothan Opera House. As I got older, I also participated in a few shows here. But most of my time spent here was in the audience. If you compared this theater to some of the great ones in big cities, it might come up a little short. But if you throw in to consideration that it is in a semi small town in south Alabama, it is truly a historic icon that is a great place to watch a show. It has been years since I have come here. But even if they haven't done many updates, everything I remember was pretty good. Comfortable seats with a good view from every seat in the house. The lobby area is a little small. But again, that is if you compare to some of the bigger theaters I have been too. The fact that this theater has withstood the test of time when almost all of entertainment aspect of downtown was non-existent in the 80s and 90s is amazing.
