Named after George Washington Carver the great agricultural scientist and inventor most famously known for promoting the cultivation of peanuts and other crops to restore the soil. The museum is located in the center of Dothan in the former Greyhound bus station that was one of the many segregated establishments in the 1940s. Today, there are panels that depict African Americans contributions to science. The highlight was being able to see GW Carver's handwritten letters where he is telling s colleague of the work he is performing at Tuskegee University.

It's an incredible museum focusing on helicopters and the history of helicopters in army aviation. It's also where they hold the graduation ceremonies for army warrant officers which is why I was there. A friend had completed the five week course and is now off to flight school. The museum is especially clean and well organized. There is plenty of safe parking and it's all well lit. The displays are incredible and well laid out. I learned a great deal about helicopters and their history in the few hours I spent there. I highly recommend stopping in if you love army aviation.

The staff was so kind and helpful, they were fun to talk to. It's small, but packed full of info on what to do in Dothan and other Alabama hotspots AND everything you ever wanted to know about peanuts. You can even buy all kinds of peanut memorabilia. And who wouldn't want that?

Everything in there is from the owner's personal collection! (The military exhibit in the Pioneer Museum of Alabama also belongs to him) he was in the military, and has been in war movies! He has written books on the military and is a really good guy! You should definitely check it out if you ever to The Pioneer Museum of Alabama! Definitely worth it!

Coleman Tropical House was place for our Workshop. The entire group, really enjoyed the Butterfly Garden. Overall it is a great place to visit while you're visiting Dothan.

These gardens are beautiful in many ways. They have a wide range of styles ranging from Asian to a…read morewonderful rose garden. While I was there I strolled slowly around the whole trail making sure to stop at my favorite style, the Asian garden. It was really calming. I liked the turtles and the small amount of koi. Other areas I thought were great was the rose garden and the paved trail. The trail is mostly shaded, so it wasnt that bad even though the temperature was in the low 90s on my visit. I will say that starting July 1st they are going to start charging an admission price. It seems that might be the right idea. Some of the areas ,such as the butterfly garden looked a little neglected. Maybe the admission fee will help that? In either case I will be coming back. If you are even remotely interested in plants or the outdoors, I highly recommend stopping by.
