A coffee lounge with a vibe. In the heart of Pittsfield, MA is a vibing coffee lounge. Dottie's offers an inviting atmosphere with great food and coffee. The lounge has 3 rooms for seating. Upon arrival you pick your table with the number, grab a menu and order at the cashier where you will inform them of your table number and place your order. The first room offers some elevated window seating for some natural bright light and people watching. The second room has plenty of seats and typically where the performers play on the mini stage. The third room has more seating, bar seating, and bathrooms. Each room has its own unique design with art. The first room has the gift shop. They also have a large patio for outdoor seating and in some of that fresh mountain air The service in Dottie's is great. How it works is you pick a table and locate the number on the table, go to the cashier to tell them your table number and place your order for food and drinks (including coffee), the staff will deliver your items to the table. Everyone is so kind and helpful. I especially enjoyed Zuko. Zuko was helpful, consistently checking on the guest and ensuring everyone got their meal in a timely manner. Zuko is a great asset to Dotties. I've been to this location several times and my favorite food is the steel cut oats with a variety of toppings that include fresh fruit and nuts . I also enjoy the Burnham bagel it's an everything bagel with cream cheese, ripe tomatoes and red raw onions, perfection! I will also typically get a lavender latte or a Matcha latte with lavender. I visited Dottie's on a Sunday morning. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed with their offerings and how big the place was. If you're planning on dining in, you need to grab a numbered table first and then tell the cashier your table number when ordering. There are three rooms of tables to choose from. Since it was fall, they had so many fall inspired drinks, including hot apple cider, pumpkin spice latte and so much more. I opted for an iced blackberry latte with oat milk (they only have oat and soy as plant based options) and a raspberry oat bar. My boyfriend got a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin. My latte was so good - not overly sweet at all. The oat bar was excellent too! Since my boyfriend ordered a cup of coffee, the cashier said there were free refills and you could even ask for a to-go cup. His muffin was delicious! They also had a live jazz duo who were great. They apparently have live music every Sunday morning and they have tons of art on the walls for sale. It's such a great coffee shop to visit if you're in the area! read more

We arrived at Dotties at 10:39am and started looking at menus. The host informed us they are now doing table service, so we chose our table. We ordered two diner plates (2 eggs, sausage, homefries, and toast) and two cups of coffee. The coffee was quickly poured and delivered. We were instructed to take our coffee back to the first room to add cream or sugar. We waited at a table for 1 hour and 17 minutes (according to my location on Life360) and never received our food. Multiple tables of patrons were seated after us, ordered after us, and received their food and drinks. We were told at least five times that our food would be out shortly. We got up to leave at 11:54am, and our server told us not to pay for the coffee and asked us if we would be coming back, to which we replied, "No." As we stepped out onto the sidewalk, the cook (and manager/owner?) burst out of the restaurant to tell us we had not been waiting over an hour and that she was going to have to throw away our food because it was on the grill. She also said our food order went in at 11:24, and that we hadn't been waiting over an hour. Even if the server had forgotten to put our food order into the system, it still should not have taken over a half hour to cook eggs. Dottie's - Please go back to your original system and stop trying to be fancy with "table service" that is half-assed, and do not accost your customers when they have patiently waited for 1 hour and 17 minutes for a simple plate of eggs. Walking in it's a beautiful little cafe, upon ordering they were out of many items which I can excuse. What I can't get past is the chai tasting like water (on par with dunkin) as well as nothing having flavor. The eggs say scrambled on the menu but then are actually baked. The burrito was dry and tasteless. The barbershop breakfast sandwich was fine but absolutely missing something. Service was quick and fast, pleasant to be around but would not go back. read more

We walked in for breakfast and coffees to a table complaining about their food wait time considering their dishes were simple. The hostess told us to grab a table and we did. We waited 20 minutes and the single, lone server did not even greet us in that time, the place wasn't very busy either. We decided to leave. It seems like they need to hire more people. I've been in for coffee previously and the wait time for a coffee was long as well. From what I've heard, the food is great, so just be prepared for the wait time and poor service. read more

I am not a big YELP reviewer, as if I have a compliment or a concern, I usually have no issues bringing it to the attention of a manager or an owner. Welcome to my exception to the rule. I've been to Dottie's before, and I know that the food can take a little while to arrive. I have no issues with that, whatsoever, given the high quality of its menu and food. Today, my girlfriend and I decided to grab breakfast, and we excitedly drove to Dottie's. We arrived at 10:39 am. I know, pretty specific. You'll see where it's going in a minute. We ordered off what is a diverse menu. Our order seemed to be pretty simple. One Diner Plate with eggs, sausage, home fries, and avocado toast. The second order was exactly the same, but with an additional egg. Perhaps that third egg put our experience over the edge. We likely placed our order somewhere around 10:50 am. While patiently waiting, I enjoyed my conversation and company with my girlfriend. After about 30 minutes, our server came to the table and noted that somehow our order did not make it into the system, he apologized for the wait and noted that he would expedite the order. Within the next thirty minutes, additional staff came to the table, again apologizing for the wait. Several tables in the immediate area were served their food, and they had arrived well after us. The table directly next to us, who placed their order immediately after us, received their order. Another 10-15 minutes elapsed and my girlfriend and I set our limit... if the food's not here in the next ten minutes, we're out. Ten minutes came and went, and so did another apology and assurance that our food would be out shortly. As we started to leave, I saw the hostess in the kitchen. I went to her, told her we had been waiting for over an hour for food, and that we were opting to leave. That's when things took a turn, and my exception to my Yelp Rule came into effect. The cook, perhaps also the manager, or maybe even the owner, appeared and asked what our order was. I told her the Diner Plates, and that we had been waiting for over an hour. She apologized, and I replied that it wasn't necessary to apologize, but that we were choosing to leave. I again reiterated that waiting for such a long time for an egg dish wasn't working for me, that other tables got their orders well ahead of us despite arriving well after us, and it was simply time for us to leave. After telling her I didn't need an apology, she said, "sir, I can see your upset, I'm sorry." I reiterated that apologies weren't needed, but that we were leaving. There was an edge in her tone with me. I won't deny being frustrated, but the time limit we set for ourselves had been met. I saw our server, Tim, out in the front area of the restaurant. I told him I wanted to pay for the coffee, as we were leaving, having waited far too long. He indicated there to be no need to pay. I thanked him, and we went on our way. As we stepped outside, the cook came out with our slip. She indicated that the order came in at 11:24 am and that we hadn't been waiting as long as we had indicated. I took exception, told her we were there at 10:39 am, and as it was now noon, we were leaving. "Your order is on the grill, and now I'm going to have to throw it out," was her reply. When I told her that we had, in fact, placed our order long before that, she refuted us, telling us again, that the order was placed at 11:24 am, and, basically, that we were misrepresenting the time frame. We left and headed to Dunkin Donuts, right down the street, where our order was filled within minutes. So what about 10:39 am? that's pretty detailed and exact. You see, the exact nature of 10:39 am was verified through my girlfriend's LIFE 360 app, which told us our arrival time at Dottie's. When we left shortly before noon, we had been waiting for nearly an hour and a half. I'm a patient person and I eat out with great regularity. I have no problem waiting for good food. What I do take exception to is being treated rudely. Our waiter and busboy were apologetic and polite around the delay. The order got lost in the shuffle, things happen. What i would have expected that once that happened and was realized, that the order would have been prioritized, and we then we would get our food in short order. Not so. To characterize a customer who had been waiting over an hour for the Diner Plate as a liar, didn't sit well. What also won't sit well is my behind in a seat at Dottie's restaurant, ever again. read more

We got the Changalate, which was tasty, but not as good as we were hoping. We wished it had a little bit more sweetener. The cafe has a great cozy industrial vibe. They have great seating options and an adorable shop in the front. The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and shared great suggestions. Delicious meal here - so much so I came back two days in a row. First time had the egg and bacon plate. Best scrambled eggs I have had at a restaurant. Soft, seasoned well, fluffy. The bacon here was a thick cut, good portion. Second time, I had the egg, bacon and cheese on a croissant. Croissant was perfectly buttery with slight crisp. Eggs and bacon delicious - same flavor as the plate from previous day. Price for both meals was fair. Under $10 for croissant and under $12 for the plate. Wouldn't be my go-to for a dine-in breakfast, but it does have some charm in Pittsfield. I think this would be a great spot to stop in for coffee/tea and a pastry/bagel, but I found the setup for dine-in a little convoluted. First, it's a bit unnecessary to have a greeter at the front asking if each party is either dining in or grabbing a drink -- slows the flow, especially when the model of ordering at the counter and taking a number for the server to find you is fairly common at this point. Suggest for the cashier to simply ask whether it's for dine-in or take out. Second, the coffee I ordered came as a mug for me to fill and bring to my seat. I get it -- this model takes pressure off of the staff, but it's wildly inconvenient for the customer to fill their own cup of coffee and shepherd it across the room to your seat without making a mess. It'd be easier to just order it at the table and have it brought with the rest of the food. Waffle Sandwich: Good, not great. The scrambled eggs were cooked nicely, and the bacon was very thick. All restaurants should serve bacon like this -- loved it. However, the waffles were a bit hard; there was virtually no fluffiness with these. Would suggest to invest in another Belgian waffle maker that serves *crisp* and fluffy waffles if this is a staple on the menu. The coffee was pretty good. The staff was incredibly rude and obnoxious. I ordered a drip coffee and breakfast sandwich to go. When I asked the woman who brought my sandwich out when I would get my drip coffee, she pointed to the barista and said curtly, "She will call your name." I said it was just a drip coffee, but the woman repeated herself. "She will call your name!" But she didn't call my name. After a few minutes, I asked the barista about my coffee. "You're supposed to get a cup from the cashier," she barked. I said he didn't give me one. She looked disgusted. Like I didn't understand their "system." Like it was my fault! Then the barista literally screamed at a group of older customers who had formed a line to the register. "Please stand to the side! You may not block the front door!" They looked startled, because 1) they really weren't blocking anything and 2) you aren't supposed to scream at your customers. They were also really short with a number of people who didn't understand their ridiculous system of finding a table with a number, bringing the number to the register to order, then bringing the number back to the table. You know, if that many people don't understand your cute little system, maybe it's not them. Maybe it's you. I won't go back. Particularly because the bacon and egg on a bagel was missing the bacon, and the bagel itself was softer than a slice of soggy wheat bread. A truly awful place that exists only because there aren't a lot of other choices in town. read more

I'm torn - very glad to see Dottie's thrive post-Covid (they just expanded again), but sad that the quality of service has plummeted. Pittsfield's coolest coffee bar needs to train their staff better and/or hire more people. They now serve their piping hot coffee drinks in flimsy paper cups with no guards against the heat, making them difficult to handle. (Barista resisted giving me a mug when asked, for some reason.) Had to ask twice for someone to wipe my dirty table down, though the place was far from busy. And you now have to scout for a free table and memorize the number BEFORE ordering, to have your food and drink brought to you. Weird system, never see that before. read more

Yummm great spot! Tried the oat chai latte and the chai-der (chai and apple cider shot), and loved them both. Chai spice is very well done. I had the biscuit breakfast sandwich with sausage, and would 100% do it again. Biscuit has large surface area and great scallion cheddar taste. Sausage is fresh, eggs are fluffy, and cheese melty. I got the strange kimchi bowel which was strange. Shame on me. I don't think I'd get it again. It was made of eggs potatoes and kimchi with peanut butter. It was not good, it looked and tasted like vomit. Not sure why I got it. My partner got one of the breakfast sandwiches with spinach, eggs cheese and bread. The eggs were delicious. The spinach well cooked. The bread was smothered. I mean drenched in butter. It was dripping all over. Overall we strikes out on the food. But the ambience and coffee is great here.
