I love being able to enjoy Gunther's Ice cream in town. This place is quite unique as it is also an art gallery. They use to only have a couple of benches inside but I'm happy they added some booths. My family and I have been coming here for a few years and it's always a great experience. Their ice cream is delicious, and a personal favorite is their 50/50 freeze. The only reason I knocked it down one star is because they usually only have one employee working. This is fine when the store is empty, but when there are bigger groups it takes a while, so be patient. They also feature and sell work from local artists. This spot is a must try! read more

Decided to try this place today, right across city hall, beautiful location. Walked in and the shop was nice and cozy. Filled with art on the walls which gave it a special vibe. We were greeted by a friendly worker who offered free samples of thwir ice crea.. I tried the banana rocky road which I loved. Many flavors are on display to be seen but pay attention to the list of flavors that are kept safely tucked into their walk-in. You really can't go wrong with any of the flavors but my personal favorite is the mint cookie! It's like mint chip made a baby with cookies and cream! Yum! The atmosphere is quaint and relatively quiet, the gallery is nice to walk through and the staff are very sweet. Also, the espresso there is so, so good!! We went on a weekend because we were in the area. Small stroll away from the Main Street, and a good amount of street parking near by. What caught our attention was that this place had a wine sorbet. A petit Syrah sorbet to be exact. They did provide tasting to their ice cream. The sorbet did have good flavor, but I wasn't in a wine mood and opted for their mocha almond fudge which was delicious. Stumbled upon this shop on a hot Monday after dinner. The shop doubles as a little art gallery and ice cream parlor. Definitely a unique experience! The staff was super friendly and great at conversation. All of the flavors are locally sourced (I believe most are from the Sacramento area), so it's not just generic ice cream. I enjoyed all the flavors I sampled: birthday cake, horchata, cherry, pistachio, and lemon curd. I ended up going with a scoop of cherry and horchata. Nope, this terrific little gallery has a little bit of everything including antiques and tchotchkes, photography and sketches and some other surprises here and there. Best of all is the small ice cream case that's filled with maybe 14-20 flavors of really terrific ice cream. Ask for samples, I didn't only because I was too full from dinner but when I spied German chocolate cake I could not leave the area without a taste; I had myself a tiny cone. Darling and delicious all in one. Enjoy your treat while you take in the what this little gallery has to offer. You can even take a load off on a bench smack in the middle of the place. This is such a cute little spot! It's so unique with different art pieces covering the walls and some antiques displayed for patrons to enjoy while they lick their ice cream! I loved the display of cards for sale that included some of the art pieces currently on display, it's a great way to take home some art without purchasing the real deal. While the art is great, the ice cream is even better! They carry Gunther's and have so many flavors to choose from for such a small shop. We sampled a few and the staff was so nice, she let us try flavors and was patient while we flip-flopped on what we wanted to ultimately order. Another unique option here are their mini-cones. Tiny little cones that might be the cutest ice cream I've ever seen in person. These are great for a little one who's eyes are bigger than their stomach or for an adult who wants three different cones with three different flavors... or an adult who wants to feel like a giant for a little bit. They were very adorable and so delicious. Our overall experience was a great one and their hours make it easy to come in after lunch or dinner for a sweet treat! This place is adorable! Brought the family here yesterday for a little treat. The ice cream was yummy. The selection of flavors might not be as vast as some of the other cookie cutter ice cream shops you could visit but the flavors here were unique and fulfilling. Even with less options some of my brood still had a hard time deciding because they all sounded so intriguing. For example, the flavor of the month for March is Baileys Irish Cream (which I personally love the taste of) and it was delicious. The art was nice and we enjoyed perusing while we ate our treats. The customer service was friendly. The prices were good. I can't think of a single negative thing to say or area for improvement. I'm so glad we found this little gem just blocks from our house. Walking in you wonder, what is this place? It feels like you are walking into an antique store or maybe your grandparents' attic, but then you'll find a counter with some ice cream in the back. So we were walking home from the Dancing Fox last night, and literally stumbled upon this place. I probably would not have stopped at first just for ice cream, but I had never seen an ice cream parlor that also doubled as an art gallery. So with ice cream and art being two of my favorite things in the world, I decided I had to stop in. And boy am I glad that I did. For starters you could spend an hour there just looking at the amazing art on the walls. Like no kidding, this place was amazing. Funny thing was, you almost had to search for the ice cream parlor. But there it was, located at the back of the art gallery with an abundance of amazing flavors to try. Honestly, I had no idea where to start, so I took a leap of faith and went with the flavor of the month. I mean how can you go wrong with salted peanut butter Oreo ice cream? I was like, really? Are you freaking kidding me? I wish they had it in a bathtub so I could just curl up with it there, but I relegated myself to just one cup. Absolutely some of the creamiest and best ice cream I can remember having in a long time. I'm telling you, every ice cream looks so good, I don't know how I can hold myself back from going back there to try other ones. But I guess that will have to wait until my next trip to Lodi. Bottom line? If you are ever in the area, you definitely need to try this place out, even if you don't like ice cream, they have an amazing art gallery to check out. read more

This was our first trip to Double Dip Gallery. It was my birthday weekend and we wanted some ice cream to celebrate. We really enjoyed the art that they had displayed. As we talked, they mentioned that they just had a school exhibit recently. I am sorry that we came to late to see that, also. It is great to see that they are so involved in the community. Now for the first part of the name. The ice cream was excellent. I never would have imagined that they could have so many flavors. It will take us quite a while to work through them. I had a Mint Heath cone and my wife had a Coffee cone. They were wonderful. My first time eating Gunther's ice cream, also. (We just moved here recently). All in all, a great time and wonderful ice cream. We will be visiting many time this summer. I think that I will have Cherry next time. read more
