I asked for the top floor because of noise above head at a previous property. The person at the front desk had the nerve to tell me the entire 9th floor was out of service because of construction - what a stupid lie. (I did hear footsteps above head from the 8th floor - the rooms are not well insulated.) What a shame. In addition to this, one elevator is out, the other two elevators are dirty. The rooms are dirty and filled with outdated furniture and appliances. 3 stars (due to incident below). My husband travels for work and booked this hotel in advance. The hotel said they overbooked at 11 a.m but failed to let us know until 1 a.m in the morning. Genova the night shift worker should be fired IMMEDIATELY!. She hung up in our face 4 times and told us "it's not my problem" and "oh well I have 5 other guests with no room as well". She also discussed other guests personal info over the phone (did not put us on mute and said I'm not talking to yall wait) which is a huge safety concern and against company policy. She then proceeded to text us from her personal phone harassing us after being asked to stop SEVERAL times. Hilton will be absolutely disgusted when they pull the phone calls from their employee. UPDATE: manager Shanetta is absolutely great she made everything right and made sure the issue got resolved. We are willing to give this place another try because of her hospitality. I'm shocked that Hilton DoubleTree is willing to put their name on this property. We reserved 2 rooms for our group and here is our list of issues: - The swinging bar locks in both rooms were about to fall out of the walls, like someone had tried to kick in the doors at some point. - The bathtubs didn't drain in both rooms. The drains were clogged with months of hair & buildup - in both rooms! - One of the rooms smelled like someone had been smoking in it (both rooms were nonsmoking). - The keycard entry locks for both rooms were faulty and didn't consistently recognize the key cards. In one room, you could only enter if you turned the knob upwards. - The gym in the lobby had a keycard entry but it was broken so the door didn't lock at all. - The elevator doesn't have any keycard security like most hotels. - They said they charge a $100 deposit per room but when I checked my credit card, the deposit I was charged was $100 on one room and $200+ on the other room. No idea why when both rooms were identical. This did eventually drop off my credit card after a few days. The fact that most of these issues applied to both rooms shows that the problem here is with the hotel in general and not just a single bad room we got unlucky with. I will NEVER stay here again. If you have ever stayed at a half-way decent hotel, you will be sorely disappointed. read more

Felt special for a minute when I realized the upper floors are reserved for HHonors members until I realized they also let kids up there. We got in late so I wanted to get some rest. Triplet girls around 12 years old were running around in the hallway until 01:30 when I finally had it and went out to tell them to stop. My room literally outside the vending machine / ice room. Those girls saw how angry I was I didn't even have to say anything. I originally rated the hotel a 1-star but those girls were not the hotel's fault. I up'd the star rating to 3-stars because of the customer service and the amenities-fridge and microwave in room. Didn't like that you can't sit on the toilet then close the door. The bathroom door is so close to the toilet you literally have to get out the way to close the door. The rooms are a little outdated in decor and color. The rooms were shaped weird and small. Staff was nice- express Check-in was great, but I checked out a day early and relocated to a new hotel. I found a live roach in my food. I didn't cause a scene, I politely notified the bartender, and after she finished chewing on whatever she was eating from behind the bar, she said what all did it touch? You can have anything it touched for free... Like I just hit the lotto or something. I asked for my check.... Paid....left. Never approached nor spoken to by a manager. OMG. The Hilton standards have clearly disappeared. They started off by charging us a previously undisclosed security deposit. Then we get to the room and are overwhelmed by the stench. Following that, we find that they gave us only one towel for all three of us to share. When we asked for other towels, we were told they were out and that housekeeping that did the laundry would be in at 7 am. We asked about breakfast and was told it was served 6-9. When we get up the next day, there is not only no breakfast (now they say they don't do that in the weekends) after two people told us they did. I would recommend staying elsewhere. The front desk (Sylvia) is rude and does not care about the wellbeing of guests. After checking in and using the hotel ice machine to cool down some beverages, going to an event and returning to the hotel I turned on the news and saw that the WHOLE county that this hotel is in is under a water boil advisory. The news said "don't even brush your teeth with tap water" and "restaurants are closing because dishes washed in the contaminated water cannot even be used to serve food." Too late for my group... We asked Sylvia about the contaminated water the next morning and her response was "sorry, I don't watch the news" "sorry, I didn't know until this morning" .... This hotel was close to my customer site, so I have to stay here for 2 nights, but I am seriously thinking about switching hotels! At first glance the room looked ok. I used the microwave to heat up a cup of water for tea, and I ended up with a heavy smoke coming from the microwave. Maintenance came and replaced it... after 30 minutes... and my room still smells! When I was getting ready for bed, I pulled back the sheets and found some red lint stuff stuck all over the sheets... so I switched to the other bed (I got the room with 2 beds) and the sheets on that bed had red stains on the sheets (lipstick??). I called the front desk for new sheets. The maid came and handed me sheets and LEFT! I had to make my own bed. Terrible service!! I would be better of staying at a motel! I had a good stay here, though there was an initial issue with the credit card I used online. Couldn't use it when I arrived, but that's pretty standard these days. I can't fault them for that. They were gracious about it, though, and the next day when it was all resolved, Hashim hooked me up with some additional bottled waters. He was a bright spot on an already wonderful crew. The room was clean and well put together, with plenty of space and decent lighting. I think the bathroom could have benefited from some addtional space, however, as I felt a bit crowded in there with just me. I'm 6'3" and picky about showerheads, since I'd like to think they would design rooms based around a variety of body types. To have one only come up to my face is never really a good design, IMO. Also, the door was far to close to both the tub and the commode. It was just a bit too tight in there, when there was so much extra space in the rest of the room. Still, I can't complain too much. Free internet (Wi-Fi and wired, and the CAT-5 cable was even in the room already!), which is always a good thing. Decent bar, didn't eat at the restaurant (menu didn't wow me at all). The big plus here was the mod-retro feel of the lobby, which along with the three-pronged shape of the building added to the overall feel of the place. I really dug that, though it might not be my first choice for theming. Still, it was well done, fun to look at, and enjoyable to come back to every night. I'd stay here again, I think. The rates weren't astronomically high and the staff were friendly and approachable. Overall, a good experience and a relaxing place to stay. read more

Got a hotel in Atlanta for my birthday weekend. We got the double tree on Hotwire and I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by the front desk staff, there were extremely friendly and patient. There is an outdoor pool and parking is free, but they do give you a parking pass. The location is great, stones throw from the highway and not to far from any city activities. This hotel deserves a zero star. This was by far the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in. When we arrived, we were told by a very rude attendant at the desk that they did not have any king rooms available. Not only had I checked in prior but as a diamond member, I had also requested an upgrade if available. When we were trying to talk to him, he interrupted us and said if you would've let me speak, you would've heard me say that I have now found you a king room . When we got up to our room, We had to walk through a corridor of smoke that was coming out the door of one the guests . They were enjoying their marijuana while I was having an apparent allergic reaction to it . We went down to the front desk to request they move us .We were told by the man who claimed he was the manager that they had no other rooms available. He said he would have Security go check because they had a no smoking policy. Security came by our room later and told us they could not find the culprit. It must be coming through the vents. I had also asked the front desk at that time if I could move to another location because they could clearly see I was having an allergic reaction to the smoke. I went back to my room to call Hilton honors, who tried to call the hotel, but the hotel would never answer their phone. We also went down to get ice from the lounge since the ice machine was broken on the fourth floor. When we asked the bartender for 2 cups of ice, she just stood there and then said I didn't hear you say please. It was then we went back to the front desk and asked the individual who claimed he was the manager to get us some ice because we did not want to ask the very rude bartender again. When we got back up in our room, we were mortified when we saw the hundreds of cockroaches running around the bathroom. They were in the sink ,on the walls ,on the floor, and in the shower. It was the most horrific experience. We notified housekeeping who told us we had to tell the front desk .She clearly did not care. We also notified the front desk at check out . Jamia apparently didn't care either . She said there is nothing she can do ,she would let them know but that's all she could do and asked us what else you want me to do about it . She was so rude and condescending . Not once were we told they were sorry for any of our inconveniences. Not once did they offer to do anything for us for what we had to endure . Not once did they say thank you for being a diamond member . Not once did they say thank you for staying with us . No apology , nothing . So unless you want to be treated like you are trash and stay in a room that is beyond filthy and infested with disease carrying cock roaches then do not stay here . I have contacted Hilton Honors and they have alerted corporate . I'm in hopes they shut this dump down until they can properly clean it, fumigate it and train some employees on basic customer service . I would hate to have anyone else go through what we did . This was the worst experience ever. There should be a "no star" rating because my experience deserves nothing more. Firstly, the hotel is very old and outdated. I attempted to pick the tv remote up and the back fell off and there were no batteries, the phone didn't work and there was a loud noise coming from the ac unit. I called the front desk to voice my concerns and the staff that answered was very rude and unprofessional. Before I could tell him the issues, he blatantly interrupted me by saying, "I can switch you to another room". I asked if he would like hear my concerns and he nonchalantly said, "yes, I guess that you can tell me". I asked for his name, and he said it was Tom. I asked for a manager and he said ok and hung up on me. I went downstairs to the front desk where he continued to be rude. She finally asked if we could step away and talk and he still continued to be rude, suck his teeth, mumble words under his breath and laugh. I cannot understand why this Tom person is still employed there as I'm sure I'm not the only person to have experienced this. I have never experienced this type of service from anyone at any establishment I have conducted business with. This man needs to be retrained or better yet replaced with a more experienced, customer oriented, professional and kind individual. It's not necessarily bad but its not necessarily good either. Let's start out with the good fast check in, they have a bar downstairs open from 5:30 to 10 PM which is really convenient if you don't want to leave the hotel they do offer breakfast in the morning cold breakfast is a little bit cheaper than their $12 breakfast open bar so it's pretty much a buffet. Friendly customer service at the desk I feel like they really try hard to make you happy probably due to the comments that were left on yelp before and complaints on their staffing I feel like they've really put some effort behind training their staffs to be more friendly. Now the cons I got off on the eighth floor hotel lobby and I smelled a ridiculous mildew mold smell that was coming through the hallways but they were trying to cover it up with some kind of fragrance so it kind of smelt like lead paint or something it was very weird. I go to my hotel is kind of small just due to the layout I feel like they wasted a lot of space with the ridiculous hallway that they have that is very pointless the shower was something less to be desired the plumbing seem to be very very bad wasn't able to enjoy the full power of the shower because it was leaking down below but I got through it wasn't too much of a hangup. But I did see a used dirty towel that was hanging up which somebody used to wash their crusty private parts it was very disgusting I just threw it outside my door like a damn grenade had to wash my hands after that one gross. Also if you have any gaming devices like do you want to play your Xbox or PlayStation five on the Internet well that feature is not available to the basic package I don't know if it's available at all very disappointing because in the new age people are gamers they're on the road they need a place to play their video games what is this going on at this hotel it's not good I got into my configurations on my Xbox and it kept asking me to verify the time and a date which was really weird because if you have a line that says your hotel I should go to click on that and put in a password and be able to log into my games so big disappointment there will I be back I don't think so there also is a police department right next-door for the scary people who feel threatened but as for me I don't feel comfortable coming into a hotel where police are right there next to me I mean you could just go to jail just from coming back from the bar just think about it be safe my friend. I stay all over the U.S. and this place gave us the complete run around. It was about 70 out in February, so naturally we wanted a little Air Conditioning. When it wouldn't come out they gave us the run around, sent maintenance up, offered to move us to another room after we clearly had unpacked completely. My girlfriend was dealing with allergies and that made it worse. The thermostat wouldn't go under 70 no matter what we did. When I had checked out the next day, I found out randomly by talking to an employee in the elevator that they don't let the AC go below 70 in the Winter. Basically it has a governor on it...which while I don't like that, at least tell me up front rather than make us try 10 things. Doubletree Druid Hills, you stink!!!!!! Definitely never again. Let me also add that they were clearly preparing for an inspection for some big shot so they were doing all kinds of maintenance (lobby, hallways, etc.) in the middle of morning checkout almost like cramming for a test. This Doubletree is a prototypical Doubletree complete with warm walnut cookies and a friendly staff eager to bring you more towels, a toothbrush or whatever other amenity strikes your fancy whenever it happens. The rooms are clean. The beds are neat. The amenities provided are good quality, i.e., the shampoo won't leave your hair as brittle as that cracky peanut toffee crap people give away during the holidays. The gym is particularly appealing since business men don't like to get their Brooks Brothers' ties sweaty. TVs attached to every machine means that you can go on an hour long walk without 1) getting splashed by terrible Atlanta drivers or 2) absorbing the pleasant scent of smog before your cousin gets hitched. The bar is fine. French fries- only a little bit too soft and smushy- smothered in multi-colored melted cheese that only dive bars seem to carry pair nicely with a final Yuengling after a night of drinking and dancing...elsewhere. The morning breakfast buffet is comprehensive enough for carnivores and carbo-vores alike. For health nuts, there's hearty oatmeal and congealed grits. But the staff is super friendly, and if you forgot to grab a coffee while you were indulging in the packaged pastries, cereal boxes, fresh cantaloupe and scrambled eggs, you can always grab yourself a cup in the lobby...along with some water to wash away the cheese from the previous night. read more

I blindly booked a reservation at this DoubleTree using the Priceline 'Name Your Own Price' tool for a ridiculously good rate, so my opinions are heavily biased by the cost. While this is undoubtedly an older hotel, the staff were very professional and seemed dedicated to offering good service. It was a little disconcerting when concierge recommended we park in the front of the building because there were security cameras in that area. There was surprisingly little road noise despite overlooking the interstate. The room itself was very small and felt quite cramped with a queen bed and two residents. The bathroom was definitely lacking the amenities of a newer hotel but was fortunately still well-cleaned. If I had paid what other hotels in the area were asking for my stay at this hotel, I would have been very upset. We saw OTHER people checking in easily and getting their rooms. By 3:05pm.. still nothing (15 minutes).. and NOW the girl was leaving for the day. She said bye to her coworker and left. She didn't even tell her coworker that "oh those people over there are waiting for their room to open up".. I was a bit annoyed so I walked up to the counter.. I was ready to ask "Why is our room not ready when other people have checked in???" but when I went to check the status of our room.. the new girl gave us our keys and we went on our way. I travel a lot and am a faithful Hilton guest. This Doubletree was a great disappointment. Put on the Hilton Honors floor where the hallway had a chemical smell and my room smelled like smoke (non-smoking room). Baseboards peeling from the wall and no alarm clock in the room. I don't use the alarm, but it is nice to be able to glance over and see the time. Restaurant food is meh and service wasn't great. Took 20 minutes after I was done eating to get the waiter's attention to get my bill. Fitness Center had lots if equipment, but quite a few were out of order. Hilton's will remain in my future, but I won't stay here again. read more

Really bad experience. When I checked in the bathtub had a smearable deep ring of dirt in it. They didn't put me in a new room they sent someone up to clean it. I'd prepaid for the room through my travel agent so I thought I'd just see it through. That was a mistake. The air conditioning didn't work. The room was dirty in a myriad of ways. If they let the rooms look like that there was no way I would have eaten out of their kitchen. There is no service for the rooms. At all. You can't even request it. I'm a mother of four and pretty much the only time I don't make my own bed is when I'm traveling for business! For them to refuse any service at all was Jae dropping. I was there four days and towels were stacked up, trash was full everywhere. The only things hotels have over AirB&B's is that supposedly they have trained their staff in proper cleaning practices (so they don't use the same rag in the bathroom as they wipe the remote off with) and that they service rooms. There is literally no reason to pay for this dirty place when you can stay at an AirB&B. Kim at the front desk was amazing though! Super sweet. She was the only bright spot! The hotel overall seemed pretty nice. The staff I personally encountered were personable and inviting. The gal who works at the bar/dining area in the evenings is hilarious. The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom was a little bit cramped but overall not bad. They get HBO and have reasonable wifi speeds. That's all a weary traveler can ask for! Plenty fast enough to play some Titanfall and stream netflix. There were some minor touches in the bathroom that seemed like they may need repair, such as some bubbling and discoloration above the shower and the shower handle if I pulled on it would come out of the wall a bit. There is also a fitness center on the first floor. I didn't work out in there, but I did glance through the door window and appreciate the effort others were putting in #notcreepy Also, Angelica Pickles would love to stay her since they give you a cookie upon arrival. My room wasn't ready but they allowed me to see a room that was available but for general guests, not HHonors Silver floor. After graciously declining, I came back at 4pm only to find out that they forgot to assign a new room. 1st night - King room had a big stain on the sofa. Lamps had dust balls collected around the base and the blinds didn't completely shut. The bathroom sink was chipping that each time I ran water or spit, there were paint chips floating in the sink. 2nd night - Front desk saw me early the next morning and remembered me. They offered me a HHonors member guest room. The overall presentation was better than the 1st room but in the shower, there was exposed piping where the water control handle was practically hanging by an inch. Security guard on-site at night. This place is packed during Georgia and Falcon football games where parking will be scarce so plan ahead. read more

My friend and I went to Atlanta for the weekend and stayed here a couple of nights. It was a very nice hotel- the concierge was friendly, rooms were clean, Crabtree & Evelyn bath products provided, and who can resist those warm Doubletree walnut chocolate chip cookies?!? We definitely indulged a bit for a late night snack. Tip: you have to ask for the cookies, so don't be bashful. It WILL be worth it!! We did the warm breakfast buffet during the weekend, and it wasn't bad. They have made to order omelets, grits, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked goods (including delicious muffins), as well some cold items, including fruit salad, cereals, yogurt, etc. I'm sure I left a few things out.... The location wasn't too convenient for where were spent our days, but it was no longer than 15-20 minutes away to everything. Overall, I had no complaints during my stay! read more

My family and I came from CA last month to send my brother off to college at Emory University. When we first walked in, we were tired from a long flight then getting the rental car and driving to the hotel, but the staff at the front desk greeted us with smiles and were friendly. They give you warm cookies for each guest too! I had no complaints about the room or housekeeping (everything was neat and clean) other than the coffee machine/coffee. I'm not sure which was the problem. When I made the coffee it smelled terrible and didn't taste right...uhhhhhhh... There's a diner next to the hotel...it's a little mom and pop diner with Brazilian, southern comfort, and Indian food choices. Krystal's is just across the street. read more

A standard business-travel hotel, at standard business-travel rates, with standard business-travel service. I did like that the gym is open at all times, that they do give you that hot chocolate chip cookie when you check-in, and that generally the service is adequate. But the rooms are nothing special, the wi-fi had a very weak signal in my room, the antiquated plumbing made the shower have the frequent wild temperature variations when the dude next door flushed his toilet, and the worst thing ever for a business traveller - they didn't have complimentary toiletries (toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, etc.). I feel like those are really critical basics to supply somebody with in a setting like this and yet, they did not. There is a CVS nearby however. Old dirty hotel. Room was not cleaned well. Bed skirts dirty with dust and stains. Moldy smell. Dust everywhere. Ceiling tiles falling down in closet. Popcorn ceiling very low in hall. Feels claustrophobic. Toilet seat broken.... Never again. read more
