I like the fact that they hotel was prepared to receive our large group of high schoolers by having the room keys and room assignments ready along with a sign to welcome us. The cost was not at a discounted rated, but the rooms were nice and accommodating for the price. I only had a problem the next morning when the lady in the restaurant refused to take our kids order that we were willing to pay if any kid went down to eat, however she closed the kitchen while the hours were operetable. She also called our president out of her name in the presence of children. House keeping didn't change our sheets they just emptied the trash and bathroom, how I know is because I had a small nose bleed and returned to those same stained sheets. I wanted to take the hubs on a weekend trip for his bday. I searched and searched, we'd never been to Baton Rouge so I thought it'd be fun. We needed the room with the pull out bed for our kid. I looked at the reviews and the pics and the reviews and the pics, as well as the price. Wasn't too much but wasn't cheap either and you'd figure it's a Doubletree so it should be nice. Welp, not so much. When we arrived the lobby smelled like overwhelming cheap stripper vanilla. The woman at the counter although very sweet and kind had what seemed to be her personal clothes on ( sweater or hoodie) and it was stained all down the front....ok whatever, but this is a Hilton brand so you'd figure they'd be pretty on top of first appearances. The elevator smelled like BO. There was trash on the floor in the elevator, when we exited our floor, the trash can in the hallway was over flowing and there was soda stains down the front of the can as well as on the floor. Oookaaay. Preview to a movie I don't want to see. We get to our room and it's small and dank and dirty a.f. I was pissed and embarrassed because I wanted to get a nice room for us for the weekend. The carpet was stained with either vomit or urine or both. The privacy glass between the 'living area' and the bedroom was so greasy and finger printed, I didn't even want to touch it. The bathroom sink when the water was used smelled like sewer. The couch and chair were stained as well. Once we popped open the sofa bed the mattress had some disgusting stains on it and no linens for it. The phone in the room didn't work so I had to go to front desk to ask for linens. I got two fitted sheets (to cover that nasty stain) and a top sheet and blanket. The girl at the front was quick and helpful to get them for us at least. If you want some cheap stale breakfast it's an extra $15. I'll drive to local diner - thanks. Over all I was pretty disappointed at the money spent on this tragedy. Don't be fooled by the pictures or the 5 star reviews. Maybe they've never stayed at an actual nice hotel. Idk, but this was not good at all. read more

The short: The staff are excellent! The rooms are big. But...... It's really run down. The materials in the rooms are in desperate need of repair, the outdoor areas are poorly taken care of. The staff though are top notch in the front desk. Our room needed switching (not their fault) and they were easy to deal with. Plus side: Rooms are well suited for families. The staff is friendly and welcoming and stop what they're doing to greet you, help you, just say Hi. Cons: place is rundown except for the lobby. Pool is much smaller than in the pictures and it lacks a hot tub. The pool water was very cold. I paid a ridiculous inflated price because of some sporting event (I was just traveling through) but usually Hampton inns have a quality I could count on. Nope, not here. First bad sign. Parts of the elevator found on the floor of the elevator. The room was not good. The bathroom floor was uneven. To the point of tripping me. And a drain in the floor was covered by vinyl flooring. The furniture is literally falling apart and the mattress was thin and noisy. The fridge which was barely cold ran constantly and had a hum that was loud enough to assume it was broken. Before booking we called to verify if they were taking COVID precautions within the hotel such as mask wearing for staff/housekeeping and waiting a few days between booking rooms that were recently occupied. They assured us that everyone including guests must wear a mask in common areas and that they wait a few days before booking a recently occupied room. When we arrived, it was apparent that none of that was true. Half of the staff were wearing mask below their chin and the other half didn't have a mask at all. Guests were also roaming around the common areas with no masks even though there was a sign on the doors saying that a mask was required. We were also told that housekeeping does not go to the rooms unless requested. We woke up the next morning to housekeeping knocking on the door and letting us know they will come back later. Which only tells me that they are not waiting to book rooms between guests and that housekeeping would have gone in the room had we not been in there. Since they are a Hilton brand we figured it would have been up to Hilton COVID standards found on their website, but this was not the case. We would not recommend staying here if you have any concerns about the pandemic. read more

Reserved a room here for 2 nights. Worst experience I've had in a hotel. I arrived a little after midnight and had to wait at least 10 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to check my son and I in. It was pretty late so I won't hold it against the guy for not being very welcoming or pleasant to talk to. The hotel appeared nice! The decor is pretty decent as well. As soon as I walked in my room, I noticed furniture was out of place and shifted. The room also seemed a little stuffy. I open the refrigerator to put my son's milk up and there was half eaten food, sodas and more in there!! I was like WTF?!? But I had been traveling and it was too late to be arguing with a guy that didn't seem like he was very friendly!! So my 3yr old and I said our prayers and went to sleep! Woke up the next morning and I immediately called front desk to request my room be cleaned when my son and I left to go to our family gathering. I noticed the room looked like it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned because dust had piled up on the nightstand, TV and other furniture. So we get in the bathroom, undress to shower and as soon as I unfold a dry towel to lay it out A DAMN PINK LIZARD WITH BLACK SPOTS FALLS OUT!! It stood in the middle of the floor then ran under the vanity cabinet. That was my last straw... My son is screaming SPIDER SPIDER and I'm trying my best to grab our clothes and get out of his way to let him (the LIZARD) have his nasty ass bathroom back! Needless to say we checked out ASAP. We had a great experience. Our hotel room was very clean; nothing like what the pictures from others indicate. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite and it was spacious for our family of 6. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We got sheets and extra towels from the front desk at about 11:00 at night for the sofa bed. We were able to request a late checkout since I was graduating that morning from LSU. They provide a daily breakfast in either takeout boxes or little baggies that you can eat back in your room. Rooms are spacious, but the Tv's are so small. My eyes wanna come out of their socket, because I'm straining and squinting to see from the bed. Also I'm Asian, its worse for my itty bitty eyes. Everything seems clean. We're Honors card holders, we usually get free breakfast which isn't free here and free water or snacks upon checking in, we didn't get any of that. We had to go downstairs and asked for it later. Indoor pool is small, Jacuzzi is a good size. Gym is so dimmed, looks depressing. I asked for another set of towels to be delivered to my room, took them an hour. I waited for so long, I gave up and jumped in the shower. I kid you not, they were determined to get my towels to me. Knocked every 2 minutes, about 6 times, 4 hard knocks each time. I couldn't get to It! Finally they left it at my front door. Oh boy, now comes the breakfast buffet ($13, free for HHonors) let me say, thank God I didn't have to pay for it, or I would've busted a Gordon Ramsey move. It's worse than the free buffets at motels. Save your money!! My fruit had mold on it, bread felt like day old bread. Yogurt and condiments are almost non existent. Never had chewy overcooked, dry eggs before. I asked if there's cheese at least, nope no cheese. My options for meat was bacon that looks like it's made out of plastic or shribbled up sausage. A sad sad sight to have witness. The fire alarm also went off, I stayed on the 4th floor. I was about to evacuate, but looking outside my hotel room, only one older lady was leaving lol I called them right away and the girl goes "Well I'm on the first floor and I don't smell no smoke. Hotel over different than most Doubletrees guess it's been re done. Most need it. Room is nice two TV 's once doesn't work at all and my room key didn't work after two tries when I checked in . What do you do when the bartender leaves several times while you are there for like 10 min at a time ? Other patrons are looking back in kitchen for him too . 2nd night female bartender where is she ?? Sitting at bar for 11 min now where is she? When I stayed at this property the last time, it was called the Cambria Suites and it was just a little bit less expensive. The place also looks pretty much the same, except I got a cookie when I checked in and the breakfast set up was a little different. Calling my room a Suite might have been a slight stretch, but it was a very comfortable 4 nights. The cozy living room (with flat screen TV) was comfortable and relaxing, the desk worked well for my laptop work, I slept well (albeit fitfully due to project worry) on the bed, and the shower was hot and strong. Heck, even the room coffee was good in the morning and the wine and beer I bought off-site helped me unwind at night (along with The Voice and the NBA Finals). Downstairs is a nice bar and cafe area, with a decent selection of sandwiches, salads, desserts, etc. The Lobby is spacious and has lots of comfortable places to sit (in front of the TV or not). There's a few PCs available and OK Wi-Fi to plug into the Borg Collective. There's also a decent exercise room and an indoor swimming pool (for this time of year) available. Best of all, the folks up front were friendly and welcoming. It was also nice to be able to sneak a muffin up to the room in the morning. read more

The only good thing I experienced about this hotel was the check in lady on Sunday around 4pm, June 4th 2023. She was so friendly &professional with a bubbly disposition (African American with a very kind/ feminine voice) I don't remember her name thus the detailed description. I'm medicated in the hospital presently; It's the next day. I was told by my doc to get a restful night's sleep prior to Monday morning surgery. My room was horribly disappointing. It was a corner room with regular windows on one wall, nothing special. The decor is late 1980's/ early 1990's. The dated carpet, curtain, walls, and phone were all beige tinged bc the room probably used to allow smoking but no oder detected. No microwave in room! No menu in room and NO room service on Sunday's. Had to get takeout from DoorDash. Bathroom has no vent and shower curtain was ragged.Mold on ceiling. Soap scum on door. Ac/heater/thermostat were ancient and phone/ thermostat also smokers beige. Felt springs in the terrible mattress and woke up with shoulders, neck, back, and hips. Def didn't get doc ordered restful sleep nor did hubby! The hospital room I'm in right now is so much better! It has a smart tv and a sturdy shower bar unlike the janky tv with no Netflix or the loose shower bar. This Hilton needs a makeover/ upgrade STAT! I am beyond disappointed! I love double tree hotels!! From the in house restaurant that is very good, to the free warm fresh cookies.. We stayed at this location due to a wedding we were attending.. The room was nice and spacious with a separate section similar to a living room which was nice.. It also had another TV in that area as well! The bed was nice and comfortable with nice and fluffy pillows.. The only complaints that I have with the room is that during the day it didn't seem like the AC was cooling the room.. It wasn't as cold as it should have been.. When your laying in the bed and your neck is sweaty while the AC is on full blast..That's a red flag! Another minor complaint is, when I went down around 10 am to get a nice warm cookie, the worker at the counter said they don't have any cookies until noon?!? I ate at there restaurant which was pretty good! I got a 3 egg omelette with spinach, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. Seasoned potatoes, and since I don't eat beef or pork, I asked for a croissant which was granted.. I will stay at another double tree! read more

This was an acceptable hotel made better by the staff. The hostess was very sweet and we were presented with water and warm cookies for our room. When we got to our room we had a pullout couch and a Queen- sized bed but no sheets or bedding in the closet or cabinet for the pullout couch, so had to call front desk. Housekeeping was fast and brought these up. Also, two more extra towels would have been great. Room came with a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. There were 2 large flat screen tvs in the room and the seating area was divided from the bedroom by a glass panel desk. I wanted to really fall in love with this hotel but didn't feel like it had the special touches that make it feel more like a home away from home. I think to better the customer experience it is these small things that make people feel satisfied with their hotel choices. Would have loved to see more Baton Rouge or LSU decor, because after all this is in Baton Rouge! Perhaps even a really good guide book. Also sometimes hotels have agreements with museums, restaurants etc. - it would be nice to get a welcome packet with coupons especially for visitors who are there for a short time just to help acclimate quicker to the area! read more

Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. Driving cross country and this was by far the worst stop. If I wasn't so exhausted I would have asked for a room change. The only reason I added a star was for the customer service when we checked in. See the photos-dirty and dusty, non working TV with hanging cords, and garbage left on the floor from previous guests. As an added bonus, the waitress in the breakfast area was clearing her sinuses and sucking phglem in her throat the whole time we were eating talking about how bad her allergies were. I used Hilton Honors points to redeem 2 rooms for 2 nights during the Auburn @ LSU football game weekend. Using points was easy and check-in was pleasant and accommodating. The staff, the hotel, and the rooms are everything good you might expect from a DoubleTree. The full breakfast (free for HH members) is delicious, fresh, and bountiful. Extra points for the on-site coin-op washer & dryers. We got soaking wet at the football game and used the dryers to save our clothes. read more

Mixed experience with this hotel. I've definitely stayed at nicer Double Tree hotels, but this had some nice features. Pros: I got a corner room that had a separate livingroom with fridge and microwave which came in handy in my 3 night stay. Decent workout room, easy to access location. Bed was comfortable. Cons: when I checked into my room, the bathroom had not been fully cleaned. Toilet had excrement splatter, toilet paper on the ground, etc. The manager sent someone to clean, but still not a good way to start my stay. Hotel seems to be in need of some updates--the rooms and hallways all smelled of musty carpet. Also I travel for work and rarely use the hotel convenient store, but this one was practically wiped out. Healthiest option was a sugary granola bar and I had to wait and look around for a manager for 10 min to pay for my $1 bar. Not the worst, but def not the best. It's been awhile since I've been to Baton Rouge.. but I quickly found out this isnt really a great neighborhood on Friday and Saturday nights anymore. It's changed a bit since my college days. The room really was nice. separate sitting area from the bedroom. nice decor. 2 tv's. The "area" kept me up though.. i kept worrying about my car getting broken into. Also.. a couple of issues in the pool room. A. The pool is EXTREMELY small. This is a big deal with my 8 year old.. keep that in mind. B. The spa's jets wouldnt turn on.. so it didnt really work.. sigh... C. Bad drainage in the pool room. There was a decent amount of standing water that the chairs were "sittting in" around the pool. If you look closely you could see the metal on the doors rusting... This probably is because of poor drainage in the pool room.. and most of the chairs "sitting in 1-2 inches of water" (btw.. this is also a health concern). those are my thoughts.. The room was great.. but I'd go somewhere else so my 8 yr old could actually have fun in the pool. read more

I have been a loyal Hilton guy in my weekly travels for years. However, in the past Double Tree's were not that great. This visit has begun to change my mind. This location is very well maintained, clean, modern, and close to other things in the area. I also like this location has a limited pantry with water, soda, microwave meals, couple ice cream bars, chips, etc. My room was on the Hilton Members floor and included a couch area, deck, and separate bed area. The TV in the sitting area has a module in the wall to connect just about anything from VGA, HDMI, A/V and USB connections. This is handy for connecting an ipad or laptop to watch television. The bathroom is a good size and the shower had plenty of room with the curved curtain rod. The microwave and fridge are helpful as well. Three areas of opportunity on this visit. The room air conditioning can only reach about 70-72 degrees. So if your one who likes it cold in the room to sleep this is as cold as it gets. If you like a warmer room your in luck! lol The second opportunity was the desk staff. The young lady who checked me in was not rude but also did not do anything to really make me feel welcome or appreciate I was here. She also did not recognize my Diamond Status at check-in either. She did offer a cookie so there is some forgiveness there :) The third opportunity is the dining service. I have tried to order dinner and was told they are not serving dinner tonight. Even after I was assured by the front desk they would be tonight when I left this morning. The person on the phone did not seem to care if it was an issue, did not offer any suggestions or alternatives, seemed even bothered I was calling. They are apparently changing owners and fixing some mechanical issues within the kitchen and never told anyone. So when you plan to eat at the hotel and find out you can't you know how to make other arrangements. This can be tough when you don't have a rental car this trip. Adam at the front desk when I spoke with him was at least friendly, apologized, and offered some options they had with sandwiches and salads available. Overall this is good location. read more

We stumbled upon the Double Tree hotel as we made our way home from Destin, Florida. It's a nice, kinda half way point, if you find yourself needing a hot shower and a clean, comfy bed to sleep in. Although only an overnight visit, we really enjoyed our stay here. The TV/ couch area is separated from the bed area; giving it a junior one bedroom feel. They thought of everything to make us comfortable. Extra shelving in the shower for my many bottles of beauty products. There are also extra shelves around the sink area, extra towel racks, and a full length mirror. If needed, complimentary items are provided such as: comb, sewing kit, toothbrush and deodorant through their CareLine. There was also an awesome charging station for phones with extra plugs for laptops, iPads, and such. Upon checking in they provided us with warm cookies. Nice touch. They take pride in their service and we didn't hesitate to fill out the feedback card. We may only stay at Double Trees in the future. Reasonably priced too!! Love, love, love!! The area is convenient to grocery stores, gas stations, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, other restaurants and easy freeway access. read more

Had to get a room for an impromptu trip to BR- book the DblTree because of its central location and was not disappointed. The room was surprisingly spacious and well equipped, the bed was big and comfortable, and everything was very stylish. While we didn't enter any other hotel on this hotel-row, the DblTree looked to be the more modern and stylish of the lot (and even friends that stayed down the street lamented they weren't in our hotel). Staff was very nice (though when we called the lobby because of an AC issue they used their keycard to enter the room rather than knocking- kinda odd we thought). The aforementioned AC issue was just that it switched itself to heater mode, but before hotel staff responded to address the issue the AC went back to cool mode on its own. Seems like an isolated event. Overall, pretty positive stay. read more

Started off when waitress couldn't provide enough menus for our table of 9. Then waiting nearly an hour for our salads which were served in warm bowls & no bread served. Requested bread & waitress returned later asking if i wanted some sliced bread & what kind? When I suggested rolls, she said they don't have any & she offered the chef make garlic bread for the table. It was awful. However upon check-in I encountered a lady named Jene' Meyers and she was quite curt to say the least. I was not thanked for being a Hilton Honors member... I was told that I did not check in although I checked in on the app and I was not given a cookie when everyone else she checked in was given a cookie and water... And I was parched to say the least. I was not satisfied with her service at all. Outside of the blatant disrespect from the front desk clerk the hotel is nice and I probably will return. The room I had overlooked the beautiful interstate where I could watch all of the horrific Baton Rouge traffic in all of its glory! However I had a great time and will return. Very nice hotel where rooms are set up sort of like a studio apartment. The bed is on one side of partition wall and a small living room with couch and TV on the other side. The restaurant downstairs hits the spot in a pinch but there are also plenty of other options nearby. I also don't think the area is a bad area.....you should never leave things in your car overnight regardless of where you live. That's just an invitation for anybody to break into it. Great option while traveling in BR. Going to let you in on tips for long stay biz travelers, like myself, that do not always get the higher end Renaissance or Indigo hotel approved. Dbl Tree BR is an excellent option! And it definitely stands out from the 10+ hotels total that I've had to sample over the last year in Baton Rouge. Most of the hotels in BR are baaaaadddd (whether it be dirty, poor hospitality, inconsistent cleaning service at 99% of other hotels (again dirty), or run-down buildings or unsafe/in-construction parking lots). And the flood happened over a yr ago so there's no excuse for big chain middle range hotels to Still be delivering poor quality and poor service. So, Dbl Tree was my latest adventure and I'm glad I tried it for a whole week. The fitness ctr is legit for a hotel with plenty of heavy equipment as well as free-style equipment. There was a functional pool (I didn't use but it has been one of the few hotels that have a working pool)! The guest services were decent and friendly. The rooms were comfortable with a bit of a "sofa area" in std rooms. And, most importantly, the place was CLEAN!!! And they actually DID clean my room EVERY DAY unlike so many other hotels in BR. The location is also convenient, accessible to highways and a few dinner options within walking. They do have a hotel bar in the lobby and show sports every evening. Also, have breakfast service which is included for HHonor members; simple breakfast but a variety. Do wish the pastries were fresher but other than that it is a std , better than continental, breakfast. Good value for the rate too. read more
