This is about the hotel bar specifically. A friend of mine came in town with her long-term boyfriend and wanted me to meet them in the hotel bar since we haven't seen each other in years. She said she had some free drink chips for drinks. Sure, it seemed as nice of a place anywhere to catch up. The hotel looks like it hasn't been updated in years, which is not a bad thing because everything looked great. It had only been years since I last been there. The Bar, however, could use a little updating. I imagined a grander hotel bar. Something Instagram whorthy, even. No such luck here. This hotel bar seemed like an afterthought, like a dive hotel bar from a movie. There's nothing wrong with that though we were just there for drinks and it's not like we haven't been to dive bars before back in our day. The bartender was way above average. Friendly, fun, very helpful. Evidently when you check into this hotel, they give you tokens for free beverages, at the bar. That's nice. They even gave me some for the road since they're not going to use them. My friend did, that is. You could order food in this bar. They give you a menu, it's only sheet of paper. They offer appetizers. My friends ended up getting some and said they were nice. Nothing jumped out at me though, so I cannot attest to them. I'm sure the hotel is great. I would love to stay there and they were happy with their rooms. There was a big event or something going on the same night. I was there. A bunch of high school kids running around in costumes. Good for them. Seemed fun. This hotel bar needs updating. It's nothing to write home about maybe it wasn't meant to be. Maybe we're lucky. It's there at all. read more

Moving my son to LSU we needed a place to stay for 4 nights. Location was fine, just off the highway - but the hotel was so dated and rundown. Stuffy hallways, weird smell, hair on the sheets, stains on the carpet, bathroom ceiling felt like it would cave in at any moment. Slow dirty and very SMELLY elevators. If we hadn't arrived so late and had such a packed schedule we would have tried to find another place to stay. only positive was breakfast, but note its a HARD 9am close..coffee was weak, eggs were fine, staff was very friendly and pleasant - the dining area was constantly being serviced and cleaned. no one told us about happy hour so we didn't take advantage of that. The workers did seem like they cared, but the hotel was really sub sub standard , an old '70s motel 6 at best. avoid if possible. read more

I have stayed at Embassy Suites many many times - we usually love the suite style rooms, reception and cook to order breakfast. This location however has been completely let go. To start, it is under "renovations". Yet there is debris and dust falling from the floors above on to the tables and chairs people are eating on and near by. There is no care in covering. The lobby has a STRONG smell of air freshener masking a foul smell. Then the rooms - we tries 2. Both of which were very wet feeling (with dehumidifiers - so known issues?) with all metal lamps, fixtures, drawer pulls, etc were rusted. Then to add the toilet was broken and had bugs. We packed up and the front staff were very friendly and apologetic. They refunded and checked us out without questions. This surely wasn't the first time they had a guest with this complaint. Complete filth! I have never stayed in such a dilapidated place. So disgusting. The place looks like it hasn't changed since 1960. It was not clean and completely rundown. I called to ask for a different room and the customer service was just as disgusting as the room. The bathroom shower had mold, the tissue holder had about 7 inches of dust and the bathroom door was literally rotted. The pull-out sofa bed had trash, literal food wrappers inside when we opened it up. I wish I would have taken pictures of that. This Embassy Suites need to be bulldozed to the ground. read more

My stay was good, as expected. Check-in was a breeze, and the staff were extremely accommodating (forgot her name). I am rating the hotel 4/5 as one of the two elevators on the side nearest to the bar was not working. Sometimes, there was a long wait for it. The open bar was quite busy, but the drinks were great. There were some gentlemen in the bar area who were in line for more cocktails. I hoped someone would soon tell them they couldn't have any more, but I did not stick around to see. I expected some food items, but there were none. Otherwise, the room was comfortable and quiet, allowing for a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was, as expected, great with fresh and made-to-order food items. All in all, a great stay except the broken elevator. read more

As a medical emergency required a cancellation. This hotel refused to help me with my situation telling me that it is an upcoming busy weekend. Seems interesting that they would not help me knowing that it would free up a room, allowing them a higher rate. This is unacceptable. FIRST OF ALL, my mawmaw,and my 2 cousins came here for one night just to swim. Well we get here and we are getting charged a 250$ fee jst to make sure that we don't destroy anything. Well we say no and we have to pay the 40$ fee. We are already mad. So it's 8:30 at night and me and my 2 cousins are in the room by the door jst wating tv. Well apparently someone had a key to our room and opened the door. We have to lock locked so they couldn't get in but it was a nice family of 4. So they say "um I'm so sorry we will go back to the lobby." And as soon as they saw that we get a call on the little phone in the room. And the lady is like "DID YOU PAY FOR THIS ROOM?" We say "yah.. otherwise how would we get a key?" She said "COME DOWN TO THE LOBBY" and our mawmaw is sleeping so we say " well we will make my mawmaw up but it may take awhile" and she says "COME DOWN" and she is otp with her manager and then she RUDELY hangs up on us. Well we tell our mawmaw and she calls the lobby like 10 times and no answer. Well we call Hilton and they do NOTHING and they want us to go down to the lobby and get a new room. WE ARE CHEKING OUT TOMORROW. This is crazy. This is our LAST stay here. This is shameful. read more

Save your money and your sanity! This hotel is far past its prime and unless it goes under a major renovation they will never get my money again. My husband and I stayed here the weekend before Christmas and I should have taken the negative reviews to heart. Pros- -Location, it's right off the highway and central in Baton Rouge Cons- -Outdated (Rooms, Furniture, Bathroom) -Climate Control/Humidity/Ventilation -Cleanliness - Breakfast Staff/Area The rooms and furniture are outdated, the ventilations sucks and there's an overall feeling that the hotel hasn't been cleaned properly in some time. The bed was old, box springs creaks and it was slightly uneven. The ventilation is a problem at this hotel, the bathroom counter and the rooms surfaces were always wet. The bathrooms steamed within minutes of running the shower and there's a muggy, humid air that never goes away. You can smell it as soon as you walk into your room. We were miserable all three nights, our room never cooled down adequately, no excuse because it is the middle of December, not summer when air units are working over time. Not even sure why but we could never get towels, we even called down for towels and they gave us extra and when they cleaned the room they took the extra clean towels and we were left with even fewer than we initially started with. The towel issue just didn't make sense at all. I went down for breakfast one day and never went again. Breakfast was served by staff who looked like they didn't want to be there, I ended up only getting a bowl a grits and some juice. This breakfast did not live up the Embassy Brand breakfast which is usually a big reason why I enjoy staying at the Embassy. We stayed one night only. Yes, I don't doubt that the other reviews could be valid, but our experience wasn't bad. I would say it was quite average. Our room was clean, it smelled fine, the AC worked great, linens were clean, comfy bed and nice pillow selection. Employees were VERY, VERY nice. Breakfast was excellent. The hotel does need a facelift and due to lack of demand the restaurant doesn't serve dinner on weekends, but they do provide a happy hour and snacks. We ordered Door Dash and had some yummy local cuisine for Parrains. The hotel wasn't very crowded, I imagine when it's busy things might get a bit more challenging. This place charges you to park on their surface lot. It's in a sketchy neighborhood and there are multiple signs that theft, vandalism, etc is not their responsibility. If you have to charge me, at least provide some security. These folks double charged me for this parking and didn't make it right. Lazy or incompetent. The breakfast was good. This was the worst hotel experience in recent memory. Room was dirty, moldy, smelled and totally worn out. No shampoo in the (moldy) shower, only to find out once I was in there (and in a hurry) that the bottle was totally empty. No housekeeping. Furniture was so old, the handle pulls were rusted and desk chair fabric was peeling off. The best part? The creatures scratching at the wall during the night. The location is great, the rooms are spacious and I loved that the bedroom was separated from the living space. I checked in with my group but when I went to get a replacement room key, they held me up just to re-enter a bunch of info from my driver's license. Like, ok? But what really prompted the loss of a star wasn't the service, since even though the lady at the counter barely spoke to me to get me me room key, she wasn't outright rude. The in room mini fridge isn't a fridge at all. It's a mini freezer. I've attached a picture of my milk after two days here, and so I immediately looked for some kind of control to change the fridge temperature but no such control exists. The leftover seafood pasta was inedible asa result and in Louisiana, that was a huge bummer for me. read more

Water spots on old popcorn ceiling. Staff friendly but inattentive. I asked for extra towels four times over three days and finally got them from someone who could not speak English. I assume she was illegal or maybe worse. Breakfast was inedible except for coffee and grits (I think they were instant but at least edible.). Other than that, it was great. read more

I really had high hopes when I walked in. The lobby is really cool looking. Also, the front desk staff was great. That's all. When I walked into my room I was greeted by someone else's belongings. Fortunately they weren't in the room, but I could have easily robbed them of everything. FYI...my coworker also got a key for an occupied room. When I walked into my real room it wasn't too bad at first glance. But...the room never really got cool and had an odor. There was hair on a pillow, a towel, and the shower (all different color). The shower also had those soap/shampoo/conditioner pumps in the shower and only the conditioner wasn't empty. Also empty...the tissue box. Having brought my own toiletries, it wasn't worth complaining at the time. Figured I'd let them know on my way out since I typically don't do housekeeping during my stay. Well, that was the intent at least. The first day my "do not disturb" sign disappeared and housekeeping came in. After getting another sign, it was also removed and housekeeping came in the second morning too. Apparently they just come in to remake the bed since that's all they di On my final full day I was working from my room when they came again and knocked on my door announcing "housekeeping". So I say no thanks. A minute later another knock and "housekeeping." Same response from me. Then the door starts to open but I had the latch locked and had to say it again. After the housekeeper finally left I checked to see if the sign disappeared again, but no. It was hanging right on the door. Maybe I misinterpreted "do not disturb"? Also, make sure if you plan on actually drying off after a shower to find a towel next to the bed cause you won't find it in the actual bathroom. The snack room was anything but. Chips? Nope. Soda? Nope. Candy bars? Just a couple of Hershey bars that were gone right after I took my photo and never restocked. Any kind of chilled snack? Not even close. There is a so called vending machine on each floor. Hope you want Mountain Dew cause that's your soda option. Unless you want to take a chance with the unmarked button. Your guess is as good as mine on that one. Or, you could just sit at the bar and hope you didn't bring any children I suppose. Could I have walked to a gas station half a mile away in the rain? Sure. Should I have to? I guess I'll leave that up to you. Come on Hilton! I've stayed at better motels in bad parts of a neighborhood. I've stayed at numerous Hilton brand hotels and this has to have been the worst one I've been at. I normally don't write really negative reviews but this hotel definitely deserves it. When we got to the hotel there was a line at the front desk and no one was there, no problem, I'll use my digital key and go down later. We dropped off our bags and went to go eat down the road really quick. When we came back once again no one at the desk. As a Gold member I'm supposed to get two colas and two candy bars at this property but unlike most other Hiltons they weren't in the room when I checked in and after 2 misses at the front desk I wasn't keen on waiting around just to ask for them. That was the least of the problems anyway. When I started getting situated in my room I noticed just how much the place needed a renovation. The main door had to be pushed shut otherwise it would stay open by about a foot. The lock had been ripped off the door so they just put putty over it and installed a new lock. The bathroom door was busted at the bottom and stuck when you shut it. There was water damage in both rooms of the suite. All the dispensers were almost empty and there was no hand soap in the bathroom. When I took a shower there was no hot water either. I waited several minutes and it never even got warm. The pancakes at breakfast were hard and stale. You couldn't even cut them with a knife. And to further add to the insult of this stay I was charged to park in their parking lot. I've never had to pay for self parking at any hotel I have ever stayed at. Had I known in advance I would have stayed elsewhere based on that alone. Overall it cost me over $170 for one night here and I've stayed at much nicer Hilton properties for way less. I originally was going to book a different hotel about 2 blocks over and went with this one instead since it was a little closer to the restaurants I was looking at. I really wish I had stuck with my first choice because this hotel was really disappointing. This is really embarrassing for a Hilton brand hotel. read more

Stay at the Embassy suites check out was easy. I had a little complication on my end and the young lady behind the desk was willing to give me a second to get everything sorted and was able to help me out so amazing Marie, Athg, Aiyana. Thank ya"ll for making my stay amazing. That. Being said. The hotel was dated, but the breakfast was great, especially the made to order omelette. I didn't enjoy the happy hour. I was able to meet and then go with the guest in the hotel +++ unfortunately one of the elevators is broken and it took a very long time to get to and from my room. i booked a handicap accessible room with bathtub and shower and received a basic sweet next to a loud maintenance closet. move to second room with disabled paraplegic sun and told it was handicapped accessible but was lied to again! things were on the carpet bathroom and bedroom doors very narrow could not get wheelchair in or through!! spoke with front desk and management still no help!! cut trip down by a day because room was very uncomfortable for disabled son!! there was no compassion when i spoke to front desk on management and i also reached out to hilton's customer service! and on top of all that they charged me a $250 deposit for being a resident of baton rouge!!! horrible horrible horrible!! read more

Traveling with an 8 month old. Called hours in advance for a pack and play and was told "you'll have to wait and see until you get here." Fair enough, I understand hotels don't carry enough for every room. Sure enough, no pack and play when we arrive. Had to make a trip to Walmart and spend $50 on a new pack and play that we hope we can return tomorrow. The room. Carpet stains by the front door and stains on the living room couch. Pillows smell like chlorine. Bedroom door doesn't close all the way. Glad we are only staying one night. Elevator had a very strong smell of marijuana. Had to tell my 4 year old someone got sprayed by a skunk. Ordered food to be delivered to the room. Took over an hour for one 12" pizza. Way overpriced too. Better off ordering Little Ceasars. Went to get a drink at the bar. Ordered my drink, then the gentleman behind me walked up for his turn. Watched as the bartender smacked her gum then proceeded to blow a giant bubble as the customer stood there waiting. He commented, ".....let me know when you're ready." She continued to stare at him, pop her bubble, not say a word, then take his order. Was the most bizzare thing I've seen in hospitality. Currently laying on the futon with my 4 year old with pillows we pulled from the master bedroom bed, and sheets that were folded up in the futon. Called for an extra blanket since no extras were in the room. Was told "we'll add you to the list" almost two hours ago. I don't think we're getting a blanket. If you've ever experienced an ounce of hospitality at a hotel, I would not recommend staying here - you'll be severely disappointed. read more

Very happy with my choice! On Constitution Ave there are at least 5+ hotels that you can be choosing from. I'm sure they are all great, but, With Embassy Suites, you can't really go wrong. They are a short 15-20 minute ride from the BTR airport and have a number for restaurants along Constitution Ave for you to choose from in addition to the restaurant they have inside the hotel! The do have a $5 charge for a parking permit. Staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautiful great open space in the lobby for the lounge, breakfast and afternoon social/happy hour and much more. They have a nice little convience shop with all of your necessities during travel comes in handy too. Unlike many other hotels, they have an omelette bar which is AWESOME! They also have a nice pool, hot tub and fitness center! Rooms are spacious with a big couch, flat screen (living room area) in addition to your bedroom with ample space to spread out and truly feel at home! In addition to their "typical" hotel amenities, they have event space for businesses and conferences. read more

Looks nice like any other Embassy Suites of its age. Front desk staff was friendly. That where it ends. The hotel is filthy, dated and worn. The room is musty. The carpet is thin and worn way past time for replacement. The paint is pealing off the walls. The bathroom door was beaten up, repainted numerous times but did not cover up rusting hinges and would not close. The bathroom tile was slick like it had a layer of grease. The towels stunk. The toilet needs replacing as it was slow to flush or refill. Furniture doors were falling off hinges. Frankly, I can't believe Hilton has not pulled the signs. Embassy Suites is a great place to stay when you're in Baton Rouge. I have a job that requires me to visit BR fairly often. Most trips are day trips, but I occasionally have to stay overnight. Normally that means staying in a pretty lame place, but on a recent trip, I hit the jackpot. I was scheduled to attend a two day training session and part of the training included a room at this hotel. The reviews seemed mixed so I wasn't sure what to expect. After spending a couple of nights here this hotel will definitely be one I consider in the future. Here is why I enjoyed this place: Lobby - This is an older hotel that has been renovated. All of the rooms circle the lobby. This reminds me of the Hyatt Regency in Nola or some random hotel I stayed in with my family in Singapore. Memories from when I was a kid are always good, so this was a huge plus for me. Room - Since the name of the hotel has the word suite in it, I wasn't surprised that the room was a two room suite. The front room was a living area with a couch, TV, sink, coffee maker, etc. The back room was the bedroom. Despite opening towards the lobby area, there was no ambient noise in the sleeping area. Since I was only here a couple of nights I didn't really use the living area, but I could see how a business traveler would appreciate the extra space to work. Brekafast - The breakfast here is free, and awesome. There were the traditional hot breakfast buffet items, but there was also a made to order omelet station. That took a little longer than I anticipated, but it was also way more delicious than I had anticipated. This is one of the best free hotel breakfasts I've ever had. Negatives - Like many hotels, the wifi here was downright horrible. The first night it was OK, but on the second it wouldn't work at all. I called the front desk and they were no help at all. I don't understand why hotels can't get their IT staff to have reliable wifi. Lame. I really think this is one of the nicer places to stay in BR. Just received my receipt, electronically, and had a questionable charge, $10.00 Zydeco Bar - $10.00 Funny, didn't frequent the bar, or restaurant any of the three days there. Called the hotel. Oh, I was told, this is the $5.00 / night parking charge. Ok, i did in fact park a car, but how did you , Embassy Suites, know that? I self checked in, never spoke to anyone at the desk, or for that matter, anyone at all in the service of the hotel. They must be CLAIRVOYANT ! They just KNEW I had parked. I'm not disputing their right to charge for parking, although during these times you'd think, really, charging to park? Anyway, the charge stayed and I"M NEVER GOING BACK ! Upon arriving at the hotel, we were impressed with the lobby. The employees were all really nice. We got the key card to our room that was supposed to be a king suite. When we entered the room, we were not impressed. It had a sleeper sofa that, when you sat on it, it made the loudest noise. The sitting room wasn't that big. Next came the bedroom. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was hideous. It was so small. There was barely enough room for the tub/shower combo, the toilet and the sink. This room had 3 vanities which made no sense at all. We stayed at Doubletree by Hilton last year and it was amazing. We won't ever stay at this hotel again when we can stay at doubletree. read more

This hotel is not up to Embassy Suites standard by any means. The hotel was hot, the room was so hot you couldn't sleep. Instead of having cups in the bathroom that you opened the plastic to use they had 2 Styrofoam 8oz cups just sitting there. I felt like they had been used before. The elevators on one side were not working and the 2 on the other side needed much repair, including a hole in the floor covered with a rug. The kids could not use the pool because 35-40 non guest were allowed to use it. We watched these people come in wearing swimsuits and leave in their swimsuits. Between the language being used and the smell of weed we decided to pass on the pool. They lady at the front desk said it's out of her control because the new owners don't care about anything. She told us they also bought the Doubletree and Home 2 Suites so we will pass on those also. read more

This hotel has the best staff, is wonderfully located, and made for an outstanding family reunion. We played cards in the gorgeous lobby for hours, enjoyed the great breakfast and connected with family during the evening reception. The staff continued to ensure everything was up to embassy brand standards. Not only do they lead the way in service, but their staff has big hearts. While we were there, they hosted a thank you reception for the local national guard who had been staying in their hotel for months at a time. It was heartwarming to see the staff appreciate and honor their local heroes. We will return and recommend this property highly! Stopping through Baton Rouge? I'd recommend looking into any of the other numerous hotels in the area surrounding Embassy Suites. My wife and I, after traveling 14 hours in the car, showed up to our reservation at the Embassy anxious to relax and have a comfortable place to lay our heads for the evening. Unfortunately, the first room we were given was extremely unsatisfactory. From the feeling of dampness on our sheets, to the bathroom floor being physically wet from humidity, to the stains on the carpet, to the food in the refrigerator from the previous guests (gross!), it took all I had in me not to sit down anywhere in that room. Whatever, things happen I suppose. We explained our situation to the gal at the front desk and were graciously understood and given another room. Things were looking up! Unfortunately--somehow, someway--the EXACT same situation occurred. Yes, there was even food leftover in this refrigerator too! Unbelievable. I don't even think they attempted to make these rooms look presentable and welcoming. That was two strikes and you're out for us. We grabbed our bags and headed down to the front desk. We explained what happened, AGAIN, and asked for a full refund and to be checked out. A few confusing looks and questions later, we were on our way down the road to a new hotel. I won't name drop in this review, but the hotel we ended up staying at was only a few miles down the road and was total opposite of what we experienced at the Embassy. We got our bags unpacked, had the best night's sleep, and a tremendous breakfast before we left town. We have stayed with Embassy many, many times and have never experienced quality as low as this. Not what they used to be. AC didn't work and whole place smelt dingy. Bed wasn't comfortable. Such a waste, so much potential.

Not great. Our room smells musty. The breakfast here on a Saturday is a giant cluster. They are not appropriately staffed to handle. There are no tables that are clean and the buffet was out of food when we arrived. It had been that way for over 10 minutes. I feel so bad for the people working here. It is not their fault. The manager on staff is not scheduling appropriately or ensuring that people are working on the right things and create a sense of urgency. I think this level of response and service is typical for a Saturday. I'd like to at least see the manager on the floor addressing concerns. read more

This is a great hotel to stay at if you're ever in the Baton Rouge area. friendly staff and nice rooms. The staff are very nice , and the bartender for evening reception, Youssef , is extremely nice and friendly. Definitely recommend this place read more

It felt good to have a good rest and great breakfast. Breakfast was outstanding. The staff were pleasant. The room was clean. The bathroom was a little small. And yes, this is an older property but it's been kept up. It's not the nicest Embassy suites I've been to, but I would definitely stay here again. In a Friday night I paid $139 including tax with my AAA discount. It was a deal! read more
