I really enjoyed this hotel! The family is a little underwhelming on the outside but when you walk in, you can see it is definitely a nicer hotel. Lobby area was neat and tidy. The staff was very friendly, and my room was nice and clean. Thankfully the room had a nice smell, none of that old moldy ac smell and genuinely enjoyed lounging around The lobby and hanging out in my spare time. The area was safe and free parking which you cannot beat. If I'm ever in Baton Rouge, I'd stay right back a the Renaissance. read more

Very disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. We stayed here with our kids, and the condition of the room was unacceptable. The air vent was absolutely covered in dust and buildup, there appeared to be mold/mildew along the bathroom shower edges and corners, and we even found food crumbs on the bed. When you're traveling with children, you expect a hotel room to at least be clean and sanitary. These weren't small cosmetic issues--the room looked like it had not been properly deep-cleaned in quite some time. I've included pictures because they speak for themselves. I booked a three-night stay several weeks ahead of time. My flight from Atlanta to Baton Rouge was rescheduled due to weather at the last minute so I had to fly out the following morning. I called this hotel to make sure I wouldn't have any issues checking into the hotel late. I was assured, by Nicole, it would not be a problem. Sure enough I showed up and the rude lady behind the counter informed me my stay was cancelled. So, I had to wait twenty minutes to re-booked, which was a pain after a long day. I was gifted a staycation evening here, so I took advantage of it recently. My package said i needed to contact the hotel directly. I'm not sure I was initially directed to the correct person, but I left a message, and within an hour, so had directed the correct person to call me. It was really easy making a reservation, and I had a room confirmed before we hung up. Upon arrival, the decor captivates you. Also, I don't know what pleasant smell they pipe in, but it was refreshing and opening. Everyone working there had a smile and was easy to work with. While it was a little confusing making sure my staycation perks were tended to, i understand they don't have to see those all the time. After just a few brief minutes, I was heading up to the 10th floor for my evening. The room was clean, cool, and crisp. I had a great view of the boulevard and could see the nice outside area down below. Everything was straight, no dirt or dust, no stains, just very inviting. The room has a small fridge and a personal coffee making with local Community Coffee and Twinings Brand Tea. There are also a couple of small bottles of water for you. I like the details of the textured wallpaper and the fun Louisiana translations wallpaper in the bathroom. The hotel was overall quiet, and the bed was fairly comfortable. There is a nice wading pool and lots of lounges. There's also a nice sitting area with a cool fire and water element with seating available. There's also plenty of nice lobby seating and pretty things to look at. The hotel is smack dab between two shopping areas - Mall of Louisiana and Perkins Rowe. You're also just a short distance from the Rural Life Museum and the Bluebonnet Swamp, not to mention many many other places. Highly recommend if you're passing through our great city or just need a little getaway. read more

Truly on any scale, it's a mediocre conference/LSU- Southern Football Fan/kiddie traveling sports teams venue. Positive: probably one of the best hotels in Baton Rouge, location, staff is friendly Cons: outdated accommodations, unless you have the king suite the toilet does not have a private door and is not all that private, the electrical outlets are loose and the plugs fall out constantly, the television size is WAY too small for the rooms, the concierge floor only has Snacks Monday - Wednesday because they are "short staffed," etc. read more

We stayed 3 nights at the end of October. I don't make reviews often, but it was such a great experience and the staff at this hotel deserve so very much to be recognized. It may seem odd that I took so long to make the review, but it was a very busy weekend I was exhausted. I rarely use apps like this so I just kept forgetting to do it. It was a busy weekend as a huge concert was in town, plus there was some kind of convention going on at the hotel, but we were still given so much attention and treated very, very well. We arrived late in the evening and although it was late and the lobby was busy, Dominique was so professional and friendly as she checked us in. We had several requests throughout the weekend for things we had forgotten, etc. and she was always so kind and thorough. Later in the weekend at the front desk Johnicia was also so professional and friendly. We were truly impressed and thankful. Jessica in the restaurant/bar was so great, too! She took great care of us when needed to get a take out order and were really tight on time. Later, I got a chance to talk with her a bit and as she told us goodbye, I felt like I had been a guest in her home. The hotel itself is very attractive and it was actually quite affordable too, the staff however are what really make me want to come back to this hotel when I'm in the area again. read more

Been here many times for conferences/ seminars/meetings but have never stayed overnight so no comment is made as to check in/check out and or the rooms. My rating is based on the seminar/conference spaces and hospitality thereof----which for me is basically restricted to the first floor except for 1 time there meeting was on the 2nd floor. I have no issues and actually enjoy the space provided here---depending on set up dictates how roomy or cramped the seminar room is--the electronics and sound system has always been good. Lighting is fine although in recent times I have found not enough lighting in the room---probably due to size of room and the facts there's a big screen on 1 side, they choose to not to illuminate the 2 large beautiful chandeliers in the middle of the room.-I have seem them well lit so I know they can be bright and the room can be well lit. The seating/chairs are comfortable. The last thing I have experienced is the food here---a few times we have food provided and food has always been delicious. Overall, if you are putting on a conference or seminar I strongly recommend this hotel. read more

The Renaissance Baton Rouge hotel was an absolutely amazing stay. I had the opportunity of staying there for a work conference for a week and the service was A+. The conference room that we utilized for our stay was the Des Caine conference room and it was very clean, the staff was awesome when serving our light refreshments during our meetings and the restrooms were constantly cleaned every hour on the hour. The only dilemma that I came across while utilizing the conference rooms were the air conditioning (super cold in the rooms). Some of my co-workers had a few problems with their Wi-Fi connection, but I didn't have this problem. I had the pleasure of staying in a Standard Guest room with a king-size bed. The room was very spacious and had ample amount of lightning within the space from the two bed lamps, the large window, desk area and large lamp in the corner of the room. That's not including the bathroom lightning and the small switch when entering the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel for personal and business stays. Excellent service, amazing view, close to shopping (Mall of Louisiana across the street) and restaurants! read more

I enjoyed my stay here. I used the gym on the 2nd floor where they also have an area for complimentary breakfast and snacks. They have a fridge in the room, which I appreciated. Get the red fish at the restaurant for dinner. Delicious. I regret not at least dipping my toe in the pool but you can grab a drink and enjoy the ambiance. Open late. I didn't use the vending machines and ice but that's on many of the floors. Front desk was hospitable. I love the fire place in the lobby. Oh I really enjoyed the live music Friday night. If I'm in the area I would stay here again for sure. read more

First night we ate at the bar and I had a great hamburger. Hubby had two cocktails recommended by the bartenders . The next morning we had to attend a funeral I ran down to grab breakfast truly not in the right frame of mind and the young lady was so kind I hate I forgot her name , but I do remember her grandparents live in New York . Breakfast was yummy .. the only thing wrong with our stay was the staff didn't communicate and the called me three times to ask if we were staying in the same room . They still were kind but I was dealing with family and didn't need to worry about a hotel room . This location is in a great spot. It is right across from The Mall of Louisiana, and right down the from Perkins Rowe. The parking lot was very large and safe. Tallulah was a great choice. If your day was long and wanted a great meal and even better cocktails. This is your place. There are many places to chill with friends indoor or outdoor. I am a diamond member, and the room was clean and had an open floor plan. I really like the natural light. My service animal had a wonderful time. Hotel rooms are not completely cleaned, and are beginning to look outdated. Dirty pillowcase, upside down electrical outlets installed, old yellowed light switches, room boasts an old iphone 3 docking station, and not enough plugs for modern devices. Blaringly obvious loose carpet in ballroom area (a trip hazard), I would not stay here again, because the cost of the hotel room does not equal the quality I received. Booked the Renaissance last minute for just a quick vaca getaway really a staycation for the most part for Memorial Day. Check in was a breeze and the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The hotel is lovely with many South Louisiana touches that make it clear that you're staying somewhere that has a lot of thought out into it. Our room is clean and fresh with a very comfortable bed. The location is great with shopping and dining steps away. We wanted to visit the pool but after a long day we're happy to relax and enjoy in room entertainment. The Renaissance has ample room for conferences and events and that had been my previous experience. The hotel also had a nice restaurant and bar and we definitely plan on another staycation soon. read more

Hotels. I spend more time in them than I do in my own home. This one is okay. The lobby is much nicer than the rooms so don't get too excited. And the furniture in the concierge lounge is tired and old (and remarkably uncomfortable) The best thing in the room is the bed. I've stayed here several times and they are always comfortable. The woman at the front desk said that they were remodeling some of the floors so we shall see if that comes to fruition. The staff that mans the concierge lounge is really good as they go out of their way to make sure you have what you need. On my last visit- we were even able to persuade the worker to get us some drinks so a big tip for him! The front desk staff is very accommodating to make your stay great! I wish I knew her name as she is there every time I come in and she is very helpful. Know you can valet park out front (it's $19) or just self park a few steps away from the door. All in all a solid choice in this area. read more

When you travel enough, you notice details that make certain hotels standout. Sure, as other reviews have mentioned, this Renaissance has an exterior that is kinda tenured. But all that gets lost in the hip, luxury vibes within the lobby, and more importantly, when you experience the distinct, collective effort among the staff in making sure your stay is exceptional. Harry, for instance, was delightful on the onset, engaging me with genuine conversation and provided some contextual history about Baton Rouge. And the night clerk helped me through an unexpected personal issue that came about, a welcome response I didn't anticipate. Both are two warm examples of why now I intend to seek out Renaissance more regularly, even as a seasoned Bonvoy Elite member. read more

Parking can be a fair distance at night if they are hosting a party or wedding. Two words come to mind in describing this hotel: outdated and meh. I'll explain: First, outdated. Pretty much everything has an outdated feel, from the furnishings, to the towels, to the coffee maker, to the stereo in the room that doesn't fit an iPhone made in the last 10 years! Second, meh. The definition of "meh" is unimpressive and boring. That describes this hotel (and city) to a T. Maybe it's because New Orleans is one of my favorite cities, with lots to do and some fancy hotels. However, I've been in smaller cities with nicer hotels (Springfield) and other cities with much nicer Renaissance hotels (Pittsburgh). So, the location of a hotel shouldn't impact how nice it is. The couch was stained and so old and used, it was too uncomfortable to sit on. The shower has loose plastic, which could cut someone. UPDATE: took a shower. Terrible pressure and a shower door handle that feels like it's about to fall off. Also, I know every time the guest above me uses the bathroom. Ewww I also noticed a line 8 deep to check in. A couple of positives. The staff is nice. (Not over the top helpful or friendly; just nice.) The holiday decorations were pretty. Overall, I was very underwhelmed. If this is the nicest hotel Baton Rouge has to offer, I hope I don't have business here again! Ha If I could have given the hotel 2.5 stars, I would have. read more

Ohhh, swanky. That's what I thought walking into the lobby of this beautiful hotel. I mean y'all, this place is no joke. They wow you from the very start. I just can't say enough about the decor. Everywhere you look you'll discover something interesting to gaze upon. It's one of those hotels that feels like a destination in and of itself. I'll start with the lobby. There are leather benches to sit on everywhere you look. Modern and fresh, it also has a super cool lounge area complete with a very nice fireplace that doesn't emneate heat. Ahh, perfection already. We head up to our room. The carpet is plush and soft. Again, here the decor is just to die for. Perfectly placed art, while suble and small, didn't escape me and I loved every minute. So, the room. The bathroom was not a disappointment with the wallpaper depicting our Louisiana culture above the loo. The shower was roomy and the complimently soaps and shampoos were Aveda. Ok now I'm nearly in blissful heaven...but then. The bed. The bed, y'all. I need a moment.#ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo I sank into that bed with pure exhaustion. It was like that bed wrapped itself around me. Sooo comfy. If only I could marry a bed... Honestly the best hotel in Baton Rouge. The Renaissance is one of the best hotels in BR. It is big and swanky (just look at their pics). The lobby has this really cool lounge area. I really love the bar area and the cocktail waitresses that work there. The rooms are a tad on the small side but quite beautiful. The front desk area is quite different. I have worked in the hotel industry since the late 90s and I think the Renaissance has the coolest looking front desk. There are three little pods that are stylish and gives guests more privacy when disclosing personal information between the staff and the guest. I'm also blown away by how huge the kitchen is at this hotel. It puts to shame some of the kitchens at even the hotels in downtown NOLA. Everything back there is well-organized and there is tons of space for everything. The hotel shuttle van will take you anywhere within a 3-mile radius so guests without cars can go to the mall down the street for free. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a friendly place to stay with clean modern rooms. read more

Verrrry nice hotel in the BR area. Near the Mall of Louisiana & on the ever BUSY BLUEBONNET BLVD. Gotta love it. The hotel's corridors & lobby are quite nicely decorated. The front desk looks like a chest & is enclosed in a glass box/container; novel idea. The carpeting on the floor gives ease of walking & the tile is spotless... I can see up my own skirt, tee-hee :) I'd be remiss full if I didn't mention the stylish, elegant modestly decorated rooms. The bedding. The linen in the bathroom. The TV. The pillows. The throws. The duvet. The table & chairs. The desk. Smh. Alllll so nicely done. Hands down the decor is tres chiç!!! I didn't have an opportunity to visit the pool, but from what I saw, it too fits right in with the 'feel' of the hotel. I was accommodated with an early check in as it was available; this is a rarity in many, many, Mny places... Kudos to you guys; Renaissance BR you rock!!! Parking is ample. Very friendly staff. I am not sure if it is the best in the city, but the Renaissance is a very nice, fancy, and modern hotel. Baton Rouge is an interesting city. Although it is the capital of our great state, there are not a lot of nice hotels. In fact, I think there are only two real four star hotels, with this hotel being one of them. The good news about the lack of fancy hotels is that the rates for the two four star places are reasonable. On this trip to BR my main purpose was to entertain my kids, go shopping and have a relaxing weekend. I was able to accomplish most of those goals and this hotel helped. Because I was staying only one night, and had my kids, I decided to book a suite. I figured the extra room would be beneficial and give the kids room to play. I scored what I thought was a good deal at around $150 including breakfast. The Renaissance is not close to downtown. The closest landmark to the hotel is the Mall of Louisiana so this may be a consideration for those with business in the downtown area. The hotel appears new, and is very modern. It had a very hip feel when we entered. Our room was nice, but different from other suites I have stayed in. There was a small sink in the entrance area, a couch and TV, and the bedroom. The bedroom was not separated from the couch area by a door, but there was a half wall. The bathroom had sliding glass doors that were opaque, but there was no lock. I would imagine that is fine if you aren't with kids, but mine decided sliding the doors back and forth was a fun game much to my disappointment. The suite came with two queen beds which were amazingly comfortable. The comforter was so plush and soft that I wanted to roll myself up in it like a burrito, but I resisted the urge. There is a pool off of the lobby/restaurant area, but it was very small. The kids enjoyed it, but it seemed like it was designed for looks rather than for swimming. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They even provided free water bottles next to the desk for guests. I did enjoy my stay at the Renaissance. If you are a business traveler or a couple, this may be the hotel for you. It was a little hip and modern for those with small children, but I am sure I will be back. read more

They charged 9.99 for internet and most standard hotels include it with room stay. While I greatly enjoy a fun party, a post-Bloody Mary and Pineapple Juice bath due to a faulty cardboard trash box was not on the agenda, and I'd have to say I was the epitome of "over it". Heading to the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel 15 minutes 'til midnight I thought it was borderline comical that I'd be checking in for less than half a day but my dogs were killin' me and there was no way of me making it back to New Orleans pungent with what could only be described as "Eau de Bourbon Street". The side door was open though it said it was key access after hours (yay for still making it in). The reason for the extra star this go 'round is literally all for Derek. He was at the front desk with a smile despite the late hour. He asked me if I had a room preference, and I asked for the closest room I could get to. He got me 301 right off the elevator! He also offered me a bottle of water, which he ran to the back for, and gave me a coupon for breakfast! These small gestures and his kind demeanor were so incredibly impactful at that moment of exhaustion. The room also had a bathtub, perfect for a good foot soak. No maid this time around before 9:00am and breakfast was delightful! They've got their holiday decorations up, so it looked lovely. I really do enjoy the ease and access of this hotel, and really appreciate Derek this short but lovely visit! read more

I had a nice stay at the Renaissance. The room was cozy and updated! It comes equipment with a small frig, but no microwave! :-( The room did come with a coffee maker, radio/alarm clock, hair dryer, iron & board, a safe, and glasses instead of Styrofoam cups. I loved the bathroom! ...especially the sliding door, very unique. The shower was awesome! Water pressure was great and the hot water lasted forever. I had a room with a view. The view of the pool area AND the Mall of Louisiana!!! So nice. :-) The hotel had an awesome fitness center with top-of-the-line equipment. I worked out several times...treadmill, elliptical, free weighs, leg curls, etc. it's all there. There are several conference rooms, so a lot of people venturing around during the day. FANCYY... The hotel was beautiful. The lobby had multiple Christmas trees and so festive. Our room was a suite so we had a lounging room. It was very nice and cozy. The bed was comfortable I slept like a baby. I like how the ac monitor actually works! The room was so cold it felt so nice under the comforter. The mirror in the bathroom was just beautiful. It was like a human size makeup light mirror. I loved it. The bathroom had two sliding doors with no locks. Just hope someone is not opening that door while you're in it. read more

I'm probably a little different than most when it comes to my criteria for hotel reviews. Most important to me are: the parking, the fitness center, the room, location. Parking: I like surface lots and not garage valets. I want access to my vehicle when I want it. The Renaissance Baton Rouge has a good size surface lot with ample parking and is well lit, which feels relatively safe at night. Fitness Center: I like to workout when traveling as a stress reliever. The fitness center wasn't fantastic, but adequate to meet my needs. The room: it was clean and comfortable and I liked the wood/tile floors and walk-in shower. However, I was not a fan of the workstation. A glass top doesn't work well with a wireless mouse and I just didn't like the feel of working on a glass top. Also had trouble with the wifi connection, but I don't know if it was the hotel or my computer b/c it kept giving me a security certificate error. It worked sometimes but not others. So I won't count off for that. It think it's fair to say the hotel rooms don't really cater to business travelers. Location: this is relative, but for my purposes, this location is just minutes from my local office building, so it's a great choice, and has decent restaurant options within the vicinity. Other things I liked - Nice touch with the tranquil music playing from the room's TV upon arrival. There's something about arriving to that after a long day's travel compared to walking into a room of silence when you're traveling alone. Nice lobby with fireplace. The pillows. Things I didn't like: They don't have any kind of sundry or snack shop. With travel being the way it is, sometimes you just want or meed to grab a quick sandwich or salad for convenience sake, rather than having to go to the hotel restaurant or order room service. Community Coffee. Really? I think we can do better Renaissance. Had to get my morning caffeine fix from the green lady down the road. So in summary, valet garage parking and fancy hotel restaurants are not on my hotel "wish list" when traveling for work. Renaissance Baton Rouge meets most of my wants, and needs, when I'm in town for work, and I'll likely continue to stay there when I'm in town. read more

Stayed in this lovely hotel during my stay and Baton Rouge. It is conveniently located near a shopping mall which you could get to for free due to the shuttle service! Anyway, the decor in this place is on point. The art reflects Baton Rouge and their bar was well stocked with a variety of wines and local beer selection. The room itself was large and clean, the bed super comfortable and the shower was pretty large. We had a solid signal for WIFI, and a good bit of outlets to plug computers and phones. During our stay we had realized that we had ran out of toothpaste and the front desk actually provided us with a complimentary travel size tube. Anyway, overall this place was pretty solid. I enjoyed my stay here. The bed was a delight to get back to each evening. I chose the option to not have housekeeping because I was alone, staying two nights and I don't trash rooms. I had adequate towels and everything during that time. I know that it's not common for these rooms to have a little microwave but it would be soooo helpful. The room was nice and only when you look closely do you see that a lot of the stuff is old or damaged a bit. Every staff member that I encountered was very pleasant. There is a large parking lot where you can park yourself or get valet for a charge. There is a restaurant and wine bar on site. The restaurant will provide room service. The hotel smells clean and welcoming. Overall I would stay here again if I need to go to Baton Rouge for business. read more

The lobby is nice the reception staff were very friendly and provided good service. The entire place smelled musty and my biggest complaint would have to be that the bathroom had 2 translucent sliding barn doors that do NOT lock. Terrible if you have small children. Also someone goes to the restroom in the middle of the night and it lights up the entire bedroom. What genius came up with that brilliant idea??? read more
