I really really. I liked staying at this hotel. It's very beautiful. I stayed there last month when it was decorated for Christmas. I had a very glamorous yet cozy vibe. The staff was also super friendly. I love that they had a microwave in the vending room. That was super convenient. The only downside is that the valet parking was pretty expensive. This was a terrible stay. It had hope with the beautiful French influenced architecture but as soon as you step inside the hotel, your hope diminishes. We checked in and were sent on our way to our room. The elevator smelled like urine. When we neared our room, we saw the maid outside the adjacent room. When we entered our room, the she quickly turned her head and asked what we were doing and that this room wasn't ready, but it was her sharp unpleasant tone that caught us off guard. No worries, I told her but to please contact the front desk. She said I don't know who told yall it was ready but do you see it's not ready? Anyway we made our way back to the lobby, got another room, got in a different elevator, and noticed the disgusting odor again. We get off on our floor and it smells awful like a ranch mixed with urine. The room also smelled musty and like a wet dog. We tried to look past that but then there was also a disgusting hair ball on the floor, stains on the bedding and curtains, and the just total ick. I give one star to the kind lady at the restaurant and check-in and for the view of the Mississippi River. Unfortunately we were not comfortable at all during our stay. This hotel is supposedly 4 but it's far from it. We reserved a standard rm during the July 4th weekend. The room windows were filthy; the furniture was dusty and dirty. The pool is nearly 10×10 and the area around it is 5x as large. LOL! The day after the July 4th celebration, that area still had trash on the ground at 2pm on the 5th. If you expect tip top, this hotel IS NOT for you. read more

The hotel is beautiful. It has enough room for a conference and to host whatever event you need. The rooms are reasonably sized and clean. The gym is small but it's does what it needs to do. Never felt catfished by a hotel before, but it was catfish galore! The pictures you see are not what you're gonna get at all. They show bathtubs that you won't get. The photos look so posh, but in real life, it just knows her angles. I ordered room service, and it was uneditable. Don't get the Caesar salad; it's drenched in dressing. I'm not sure what the mashed potatoes are, but they are definitely not potatoes. With all that said, I loved the pool. She was the real deal! Small, but a sunset in the pool is so divine. I adored my windows and view--I paid extra for that! I was ready to give this place a 3, but then I had the staff hold my bags while I ate. When I came back, the front desk staff was being awful to a customer in front of me, giving him attitude about "there are no balconies for you.... If you get that room we don't have it. So I am going to send it back anyway." Being in customer service you could be a little kind, but her tone made everything uncomfortable. Three of us in line just looked away. After witnessing her berate him for ten minutes, it was my turn to get my bags. When I asked her for them, she took my ticket and didn't say a word. She just started texting, then put her phone down and said, "I just texted him; I can't help you." I was like, okay? I waited another ten minutes just to get my bag. I asked three other people for help because no one came. Finally, someone got my bags--a lady who said she was off but was still kind enough to help. If you hate people, go work at the DMV, where we expect people to be mean. I paid close to two bills for this, and honestly, the service I got, it wasn't worth one. read more

I don't know why they're getting so many bad reviews, it's a Hilton on the river with a pool and a beautiful lobby. Rooms were clean, spacious and we had a great view of the levee and the pool for New Year's eve, the price couldn't be beat. I don't even think we spent $150 on the room and their authorization charge is also very low compared to other Hiltons I've stayed at that require $100 deposit. The staff is wonderful, I did not enjoy any coffee or dining options because by the time we woke up the next day everything was gone but I do believe they have a bar restaurant in there right off the lobby that you can get drinks and coffee at early morning. I did not partake in any room service so I cannot comment on those things, but as far as the stay went, the room was super quiet, they even allowed me a later checkout then usual with just a phone call request at the last minute, I had a great time and I think it's a beautiful hotel. The only thing that might be off putting to some is high charge to park, so we just parked by the levee for free, end of story. Most hotels downtown all charge for parking, that's nothing new. It's a quiet, yet busy and popular hotel. read more

I have stayed at this Hilton for several downtown events, from Mardi Gras balls to weddings to festivals. I have also attended events here and popped into the bar area while downtown. Hilton has been pretty consistent and steady in their services over the years. I have always encountered the friendliest staff at this location. From the valet attendants to the front desk to the bar employees to the maintenance and security guards, everyone is friendly and accommodating. Most recently, I stayed here after a wedding, so it was only for one night. The pricing is pretty good for downtown - not the most expensive, and not the least expensive. Valet is $37. Now, the building is older, and there are certainly some needed improvements in the rooms, but it is not ancient and things still worked. Check in was easy. My Hilton app always gives me an issue and I always have to go check in at the desk rather than getting my key to my phone, but I was happy to meet the most helpful staff at the desk. They made sure I knew the layout of the hotel and the services. I had hastily selected my room prior to arrival, and I chose poorly. I was pool-level with windows facing the pool, so those stayed shut most of the time i was in the room. I had one issue with the shower, but someone came and fixed it quickly - a nod to the older fixtures that need a little extra manpower to make them work. The beds were super comfortable, and I slept pretty well on them. I'm aware that we have some obnoxious drivers who like to tear up our roads burning out downtown, so I was expecting that. My room was also fairly close to the valet garage, so starting around 6:30, I was hearing the drivers tapping the horns driving down the garage. That was less than ideal, but again, my fault for the room selection. The pool area is nice, and while I've never been able to take advantage of it, it's spacious with a nice view. You can also purchase day passes. Check out was easy on the app, and I dropped my keys at the front. Staff was there to wish us well on our journey, and my car was out within the five minutes timeframe they had advised me of. So, whether you're a local needing a hotel or a staycation location, or your visiting our great city, the Hilton is a pretty great option. read more

Hotel breakfast Buffet subpar and expensive. $25 for buffet isn't unfair, if the buffet is worthy of that price. What was good? The coffee, although they only gave me one cup of decaf and in thirty minutes, nobody filled my cup. The Toast I made myself. What needs improvement? I asked if Eggs could be ordered, rather than the scrambles eggs? At the buffet. Gal shows me menu of all the stuff they offered, I asked for 2 sunny side up when bill came, extra $6.-WRONG! Pork Sausage was cold, hoping the bit I had won't take me out. Pork goes bad if not kept at temperature. Not even tepid is not allowable by most health departments. Grits were average. Bacon was tepid at best. Lots of personnel wandering around, many not doing much. Juice was never offered, and if it was it probably would be extra. Two starts is spot on for this expensive, slow to low service buffet. read more

Love they are pet friendly and that they have pet treats at the front desk. Now what's not so great is that this hotel is much older and is in need of renovations. A Gutter Ball Experience What could improve? Oh, just about everything except the friendly vibes from the bell staff--they were the only ones who didn't throw a complete 7-10 split when it came to service. Right out of the gate, things went off the lane. The parking situation was so disorganized, it felt like they were trying to spare me the trouble by just not taking my keys. The parking staff looked more interested in bowling over to the break room than helping guests. I arrived well after 4:00 PM expecting a smooth check-in, but ended up sitting in the gutter until nearly 6:00 PM because my room wasn't ready. That's not just a late check-in--it's a full frame behind schedule. No strike of luck, no compensation, and definitely no apology. Just a whole lot of waiting. Things didn't improve during the stay either. My room key demagnetized so often you'd think it was trying to turkey out of working. I wasn't even keeping it near my phone--just in my pocket--but I still had to keep rolling back to the front desk, wasting up to 30 minutes each time. Pretty sure I bowled more trips to the lobby than to the bathroom. And don't even get me started on the departure. Checked out at 5:30 AM, and by the time my car arrived at 6:15, I'd already mentally picked up my ball and walked out. Apparently, their gate was on strike too--literally stuck shut. Look, I'll give credit where it's due: the staff was nice, like someone who high-fives you after you roll a gutter ball. But helpful? Only the shuttle driver really showed up in the clutch. Despite being a partner hotel for the USBC Open, this place bowled a perfect game of disappointment. If you're considering this hotel, do yourself a favor--roll right past this place and pick a somewhere else to stay. read more

My stay here was a great one, the only weird thing was the a/c is going to knock three times before it kicks in, but you have to understand this is a historic hotel. You are minutes from the Mississippi River and several historical landmarks significant to the state of Louisiana. My service was amazing the front desk personnel in particular Ashley and Sonnisha went out of their way to assist me in finding interesting things to do in the area, taking care of my room requests, and always smiling and speaking as I entered and exited the hotel with a smile and a wave. From driving up and leaving our vehicle with the valet, everything was excellent! I love this place, this is our third year coming back to watch the Fourth of July fireworks on the river. Amos and Hiram the valet guys were still there to greet us, Ronnie the bellman was still working there to take us around in the hotel van. Mr. Doty still had a stellar breakfast ready for us. They have the best grits and omelettes on the buffet. Bobby Dillon and the rest of the front desk staff were simply amazing. Mr. Herbert the lead bellman will give great suggestions on things to do. The views are great, the rooms are small, but efficiently set up. I am would suggest getting a balcony room facing the river. read more

ALL AREAS ARE REVIEWED 1-5, 1 being the worst and 5 being the best. Reservations-5- Sone with CONCUR so painless Parking-3- I always have an issue when a hotel charges its guest to park. Parking here is $30 a day across the street or $37 plus tip at the hotel. Ease of check-in-4- Lately Hiltons seem to be hit or miss in regards to you being a Diamond member, being offered water, understanding the food credit, etc. Room-3-would have been an 4 except the sun through the windows for half of the day makes it almost impossible to sit at the desk and work without closing the blackout curtain. Also my window looked directly into the pool area and there as a table directly outside of my window which always had folks sitting at it. Mattress/pillows-4- It's a Hilton bed with Hilton pillows-super comfortable. Elevator speed/availability-4- There are three elevators but only two ever seem to be working, not sure if one is dedicated to the executive floor? Gym/pool-4-Ample equipment, three treadmills and a bike, weights and a work out floor. Room temp is set at 65 and no matter how much I worked out it was still freezing. Restaurant-5- Food ordered at the bar was good. Staff-5-Everyone was super nice and always asking if you need anything. Price- 3- Factoring in the room cost I am reiterating my opinion on paying a high price to park and the super high cost of the onsite snacks; a can of Monster was almost $7 as was a bag of skittles. Overall-4 I would give this hotel 3.5 stars but I don't do that, so I'm giving it the an extra half star because I'm a big Hilton fan (although my dedication is waning). Shout out-The lady that catered our daily meeting was fantastic, when someone mentioned that the sandwiches provided were literally one piece of ham or turkey and a slice of cheese she went and brought back an actual sandwich. Listen to the reviews. Don't stay. Staff was condescending and not helpful or friendly. At least the front desk clerk and her manager working the afternoon shift on 4/1/24. Told me I could not upgrade my room w/o cxling my reservation and booking a new one because apparently Hilton doesn't have the capabilities of upgrading your room if you booked on any other platform other than their website (ie expedia etc). Weird, considering Hilton is one of the biggest hotel chains in the world you would think that they would be able to figure out how to increase their revenue by collecting an upgrade fee from guests willing to pay extra for a bigger room, better view it suite. OR MAYBE they do but the staff at this location haven't been trained or they are just lazy. Not sure which but I'm guessing a major overhaul in training of the front desk staff is needed. The hotel occupancy was low that night. I looked online and THEIR website gave me multiple options for suites and upgraded rooms. Lost revenue opportunity for them and if they do this often - imagine what they are losing over the years. Clearly it's a lot because they haven't fixed of replaced carpet in the rooms for what appears to be decades. It was dirty!! I'm talking ring around the tub and ring around the sink faucets. Ripped up nasty carpet. Decrepit and falling apart furniture. Faux leather headboard that was peeling and flaking off into bedding. Also, there was no safe in the room. This place is a joke. We checked out less than 30 min after we checked in. The front desk was unwilling to help in any way other than telling me to use my phone to cxl my reservation and rebook another one and check back in. Holy sh&$.... Really! Ugh. We left and went to a much nicer hotel up the street that cost nearly the same. Shame on Hilton for this one! I will honestly probably steer clear of Hilton's after this experience. Side note: when we checked into our new hotel up the street I told the clerk we just left another property because of many issues and asked if they had rooms available. Her response was "let me guess, you came from the Hilton. You are not the first" I would LOVE a response from upper management on this review. I'm curious if they even look at the Yelp reviews. It would def behoove them if they did. Perhaps show corporate all the Yelp reviews on good property and get them in there to make changes. I came here for a business trip. The gym is super clean, drinks are AMAZING, and the Cobb salad topped with a ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. O M G! So good I forgot to photograph it. Very disappointed in this Hilton property. First off, the door to our room requires you push it open with your shoulder because it's so tight in the frame. Inside, the room was clean with the exception of the stains on the sofa. The bathroom had exposed wires both above and below mirror. Also the drain in the shower only started to work half-way through a shower. Finally, rooms in the hotel are not made up on a daily basis UNLESS the guest requests it before 7am. This wouldn't have been a problem if the front desk had verbally mentioned this at check in (the welcome letter did explain this procedure). Little to no parking in the area and the lobby was full with two workers.... upon arrival. Fortunately we were able to valet for $33 a day so that was only a slight inconvenience. The king room with a River view was very small and poorly designed bathroom. We were afraid that the glass shower door would shatter because it kept hitting the toilet. The room itself did not have a trash can in it, nor did housekeeping come by (we did not have the privacy sign up). The AC as other guests pointed out makes a weird knocking noise when it comes on that sounds like someone trying to get in the room. The pool was ok.... The bar and bartender was great! Nicely made drinks! Also don't advertise that diamond members can access the executive lounge when we could not... read more

This is only the second time I've stayed here. The first was just to have a pool on a hot day. The things you do in La on a hot summer day. The pool was well worth it very nice views. This time I'm staying here to run the Louisiana half marathon. It was extremely convenient being only a couple blocks from the start line. The building is beautiful. It's a very regal looking facade. The rooms are a decent size, the beds are comfortable, plenty of amenities in general. I was hoping for a tub to soak after my race, but I'm finding more and more hotels are doing away with those in favor of showers. I assume as a space saving measure. Oh well. The real reason I especially wanted to write this review is how awesome they've been about the race. Check out is typically 11. I was trying to think how I was going to drop my bags at the desk, go do my race, then come back get bags, then get my car and drive home sweaty. Buuuut, they pushed runners check out to 3. So I was able to come back to my room take a nice hot shower, take my sweet time pack up, and relax before getting back out on the road. read more

Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center I came here on a business trip working 12 hour shifts and I have had no time to complain about the room because I don't have the time to move round and I'm only staying here 7 nights. BUT the room in this Hilton location feels as if I'm in a Motel. I was shocked to see the windows dirty which is supposed to be a winning view of the Mississippi River. The rug feels dampy, the shower head had mildew (I cleaned it off with their towel), the toilet is dirty, countertops are dusty and the furniture is beat up, and their trash bins are gross. I took pictures to show. In addition to this; there isn't daily room keeping and to make matters worse those are pics of how they left towels in my room. I mean I am speechless. I will NEVER book at a Hilton again. The cover looks much nicer than what you will be getting. read more

Hotel needs renovation. Everything is dirty, walls, floors, rips and tears in fabric items, stains on fabric covered chair in room. Even the hair dryer is dirty. And there are bugs in my room. First saw some Ants on bathroom floor, then woke in the morning to eight Ants on a small towel on the bathroom countertop, and one dying beetle by the toilet bowl, please see images. The front desk staff is very kind and welcoming. Valets leave a lot to be desired, they have poor customer service skills. And housekeeping does a terrible job cleaning the rooms. Visible floor debris in "clean" room means housekeeping doesn't even vacuum the carpet! This entire hotel needs major renovations, like $30 million dollars worth, as this is a large older building. The setting of the hotel is great, the bones of the hotel are great. But this hotel is dirty and run down. Won't be staying here again! read more

I have to say I had very high hopes for this property, but now that I am in my 4th day at this property I must post a not so positive review. As a HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member my standards my be higher than most when it comes to Hilton properties, but as you will read regardless of status these are clear violations of good customer practices. To begin with, this is an older property. As expected with older properties part of their charm is the age. While this property does not have many of the more modern items commonly found in hotel rooms these day, the charm aspect is very good. Additionally most of the staff is exceptional. The most outstanding individual is Miss Kim, the hostess in the Executive Lounge. I felt right at home and welcomed all week. Major kudos all around. Now for the not so positive... The staff working the valet parking needs to DO THE JOB THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING! Every day so far upon my return, none of the staff is outside assisting customers. As was the case tonight, they are all gathered inside at the valet stand chatting it up playing on their phones while customers like myself can't find a spot to pull into the valet curb area and none of them are outside to assist customers! Tonight is is cold and rainy, so my expectation is that the valet will be available to park my vehicle. I guess this an inappropriate expectation to have as all week it has been the same...NO VALET present! Of course it's not because of being short-staffed or too busy. They are all gathered inside chatting it up while customers are NOT being assisted. Reprehensible! Lastly with this post, the restaurant here onsite has been out of many food items on the menu for the past 2 nights. So unless you are satisfied with a burger (which is OK at best), a salad or a $34 Ribeye that comes with no sides, how can a major hotel's restaurant here in Louisiana NOT have items like Shrimp and Grits for multiple nights?!? I have complained twice about this to several and I was told the F&B Director would be reaching out to me. I have received no contact at all. Again, no customer service or level of concern. At this point with 1 remaining night, I cannot recommend staying at this property for the reasons stated above. I don't know how this Hilton compares to other Hilton properties in the area or how this compares to other major chains like Marriott. All I can say at this point is that if you decided to stay at this Hilton property, you may want to lower your expectations or expect to be disappointed. read more

Not worth the money at all. Our king size bedroom was the size of a closet. The drapes were worn and tattered, along with the outdated furniture. There was also no insulation in the walls so we could hear every toilet flush and water run through the pipes. The restaurant service was so slow we had to go find our server to get our check to leave. I could go on, but my advice is to pass on this place unless you are desperate. read more

From beginning to end, my experience was horrible! From valet, to check in desk, to check out. I was granted a late check out to attend a very important Zoom meeting. After 11am, 3 different staff members interrupted me even though the privacy sign was posted and ev though I told the previous staff about my 1230pm check out time. I stay at Hiton properties routinely and participate in Hiton Honors. This property seriously needs some oversight from Hilton management outside of Baton Rouge at a higher level. Awful experience. And what shame, because it's a great room and great location. But we all know, the staff is usually what makes the experience difference. Stayed here for a night for the first time. Located in downtown baton rouge and within walking distance of a few places to eat and drink. Staff was friendly and the bar has a pretty decent happy hour. There was a small live band on friday that was really good. Room was clean and comfy but it could use a little updating in the bathroom and with some of the worn furniture. They offer reasonable valet parking but there is also paid parking nearby. Im a TV junkie so i was very pleased with the channel selections..lots of options including music stations. I was able to book the room for a really reasonable price so was pleased overall with my visiy. read more

The only reason why I'm giving this place 1 star was because how helpful the staff was to help my children and I with my luggage when we arrived. The place is filthy and worn to the ground. I called the front desk upon walking into my room and told them how dirty it was that the toilet wouldn't quit running and all they asked if they wanted them to send someone from maintenance? I checked in at 10 PM after being on the road for 11 hours. I'm a Hilton Honors Member, stayed in room 743. I don't even think it was a HH floor? This establishment needs a major overhaul. If you're use to better than what you see in these pictures, Do NOT STAY HERE!! Stay at a motel 6!!!!! You'll get more for your money!! I would have loved to give this a good review. Unfortunately, here are the 3 main problems I encountered, and hopefully you have the opportunity to stay somewhere else: 1) The TV in my room doesn't work. I called down 63 minutes ago to ask for a solution, called again at 44 minutes to check. No rush, and no ETA. I'll be going to bed soon, so I'm just going to assume that this amenity isn't happening. 2) The shower was broken. No hot water until I literally broke the handle to force it. It's super janky. 3) There is no restaurant service. I booked this hotel thinking there was a restaurant downstairs. I went, sat at a table, nothing. In order to order food and drinks, you need to go to the bar, and then no wait staff is serving. So if you get a side salad and an entree (like I did) they'll come at the same time and once they're out, they're out and no one comes by. Think McDonalds service in a hotel lobby. Such a huge disappointment. We have been loyal to Hilton for years, and this may be the final nudge we need to go Marriott. Our last 3 experiences have been similar, and for the price you pay for basic amenities when the amenities don't exist, it's not worth it. read more

This is the absolute worst service I have ever received at a Hilton hotel. There is a loud rattling sound in the bathroom. The bedding had dirt and blood on it. The bathroom is dirty. This is an older hotel and lots of nostalgia. However, the trade of is that history makes it smaller and a bit aged. There are other hotels in the area I prefer that are newer and cleaner, but if needed, it's a good place to stay. Location is great for areas around downtown. read more

Nice hotel in close proximity to several businesses. Very friendly staff. Large rooms with nice bed arrangements. Due to current pandemic, food was not available for purchase which was expected. The only issue we all experienced was the showers did not get hot. read more
