When giving direction to the staff working with her, it was kind and informative. The next morning she served us breakfast. We had a lovely stay for a couple of nights while in NY visiting our grandsons. On our second night, the grands, ages 5 and 3, decided they wanted to spend the night with us and go swimming and to the hotel restaurant. We enjoyed all that the DoubleTree offered. The restaurant was great. My husband had a steak he loved, the boys had chicken strips and fries, and macaroni and cheese, (although I do recommend to the hotel to get rid of the black bowls that you serve Mac and cheese to kids in, it's weird to them....looks like a witches brew) and I ordered the portobello ravioli, but I didn't get to eat it hot due to the kids. Looked delish though! We went to the pool, which was nice and clean, and they had plenty of extra towels. This was the only part of our stay. The lady asking us to sign in, was extremely bossy, and pissy towards everyone there. She walked through the pool several times yelling at people about where they were allowed to sit, or what floats they were allowed to use. Slamming containers as she put them away and putting the lock on it. Everyone in the pool was talking about it, all 8 or 9 of us she was trying to treat like Privates. My high ranking husband in the military, nor I, appreciated her superiority complex. She needs to be in another department that doesn't deal with people, but I'd bet my last dollar she's organized and on time. We had an extra cot brought up for the grands, and the man that brought it up treated the kids like royalty. They've not been to many nice hotels anyway, so this was an adventure in their hometown. So special to this Mama Lu that they slept like angels. I choose DoubleTree every time it's available to me because the pillows and bed are a guaranteed great night sleep, every single time, no matter the location. read more

I am sad to write this review. I am a fan of Hilton properties and have stayed in many different hotels over the years. This hotel did not live up to what I am used to. Let's start with the + the Athletics Club well run, clean, friendly staff. The restaurant wait staff fantastic. Food very good. They give out warm cookies like other hotels we have stayed. The bathrooms in the rooms clean and updated. Now the - these were the most expensive rooms we have ever stayed in. It was close to the activities we were participating in. So we paid it. I expected a lot. Now the rooms were ok very musty. They had ionizers in the hallway, they did not help the rooms. Don't make coffee in the room or take the bottled water it costs. The only time there is coffee available was in am. The room had limited electric outlets on the sides of beds (not a game changer unless you have medical equipment). The sheets in our room were ok, not comfortable kind of scratchy. In fact I got a slight rash and so did my granddaughter. My son's room there was blood on the sheets on one bed and yes there were used contacts on the other bed. They did offer to change my son's room but how would that help? So they changed the sheets and we move on. Well the mustiness turned into stuffiness and then a cough so we all left and did not stay the second night. None of us could sleep. It was so loud. Sounded like we were right on the highway. We could even hear someone's TV. I am not used to this at Hilton properties. Maybe they were overwhelmed by the numbers of people there. Front desk folks were excellent. Room wasn't bad. Not crazy about the bed or the sheets. I had breakfast in the restaurant and I think you become invisible after you sit down. I had ice tea and it was never refilled and I couldn't get anyone to get me one. It's one of the drinks you have to have a server get you. Next time through I'll try another property. read more

This place is wonderful. After a three and half hour drive it was nice to get off the parkway and be at our location in just a few minutes. We pulled into their lot and were able to park right away. We were here for a conference and it was no nice to walk into this large bright hotel check in early and go right to our room with the DELICIOUS cookies in our hand. It was nice being on the 10th floor with a beautiful view of the mountains. We had a lovely room with ample space to set up our computers and printer. We were even able to put two chairs at the same desk. Plenty of power and excellent WI-FI. The rest of the room was fine... Ample closet space a nice size bright bathroom and large screen flat TV. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Of course their was a coffee maker with an ample supply of coffee. I was extremely happy with the layout since we were having a conference here. The last thing I wanted to do was to have the rooms spread out all over the hotel... This was not the case here. The layout was perfect for both the forums and business meetings of 275 plus. Everything was so nicely located and it made moving around extremely simple. Our Gala dinner was in a beautiful spacious room. The cocktail hour took place across the hall in a lovely room(s) that easily held us all and allowed for a lot of movement. The wait staff the night did nan excellent job and the food was not bad. It seemed that everyone enjoyed either their Salmon, Steak or Chicken. Since this is a college town, there are ample local bars and grills for dining. We really had a good time exploring the area. Overall, I give them a sold 4 stars and look forward to my next trip here for another conference. read more

Stopped here for one night stay during Memorial Day weekend. I was not expecting much and leveled my expectations since this is Binghamton after all. This hotel is pretty spacious. Lots of parking spaces. There is a lot next to and across the street. Once in the lobby, there is a long walk to the front desk. I was greeted with a warm welcome. Cold water bottles were offered. I stayed on the seventh floor with a view of the Susquehanna River (not the cleanest river out there). The elevators were clean and had a good fresh smell to it. There is a bit of construction around the elevator, but the rooms were already renovated. Bathroom is updated and water pressure was fine. Room was spacious. The decor and paint seem like it was gearing towards the 70's or 80's. Way too much brown/tan color going on. A tiring feel. Had breakfast at the Bistro. It was decent. Staff was nice. Omelette and toppings were made right. The kid's waffles came with blueberries, strawberries, chocolate chips and whip cream. Don't forget the complimentary cookies when checking in! read more

We were in and out in 1 night. The room was clean and everything was what you expect for a Doubletree. There were some restaurants and a walking path by the river close by which was a plus. The property is currently under some construction. It didn't bother us or disrupt our stay but it will be nice for future travelers to have some updates. I specifically wanted a suite and was unhappy that because of their error i lost the room. they downgraded me. no offer of points or breakfast for my inconvenience. i called the holiday inn a block away and they had suites at same price, so i cancelled the doubletree and booked at hi. read more

I came here for a conference a few months back with some colleagues. When I checked in they said they had no card on file from my company for the reservation so I gave my own. I was surprised, but figured I'd square up with my company later. The cookie helped ease my annoyance. The room was clean and big. The hotel itself seemed clean as well. However, there was a very odd swarm of flies outside my window at all times. I'm talking like 20-30 flies in multiple sections trying to get in. Eww. The bed was very comfortable and the shower, good pressure. The tv was a joke though (see picture). I only called room service once for utensils and they were quite fast in bringing them to me which I appreciated. When my colleagues checked in the next day, they suddenly found that card on file, which is odd, because the reservations were made all together. Unfortunately they messed up their rooms though. We had the documents that showed 3 rooms total reserved, but they only reserved 2. I wasn't there for the conversation but apparently it didn't go pleasantly, and my colleagues had to get our company on the phone with them. Eventually they found another room. They weren't given a cookie lol I ate in the hotel restaurant/bar and it was very good! The staff was pleasant and engaging as well. Overall....great size rooms, reservation confusion. This will be the last time that I'm staying in this Hotel due of the fact that the hotel made pipe repair and failed to tell their customers that this happen and putting their health at risk. Therefore I consumed water and made coffee with brown water which could have been from either rust and or bacteria. When I called the front desk at 4 am to bringing it up to their attention I was informed that they are aware of this as they changed a pipe on the roof the day before! If you knew it, why did you willingly and knowingly put your guest at risk of consuming and or being exposed to contaminated water???? So I could not take a shower, as I otherwise would have been dirtier then not taking a shower. The front desk delivered water bottles after I called once again asking for some water allowing me to brush my teeth To my surprise the hotel charged me $8 for it so that I could brush my teeth as I did not want to put the brown contaminated water into my mouth Are you for real?! This was my 154th night for the year 2018 within the Hilton Group and perhaps the last one. read more

Went to this hotel from a visit from Montrose PA. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Went up to my room and looked very nice. Bed was ok, Nothing to exciting but good enough. Stayed here four days for a conference. Room was great. Comfortable beds. Lots of pillows but they had no substance to them. As soon as you laid down they'd go flat. Warm cookie at check it. Be careful they have walnuts! Attached to the Riverwalk Athletic Club. Huge pool. Amazing jacuzzi and full gym. Located right on the Riverwalk near the MLK Jr Memorial Promenade. Lots of parking. Only ate what catering gave us but it was all delicious. One server was super rude the entire stay. Did not pay attention at all to who had special diet restrictions. Terrible attitude and not polite in the least. Housekeeping was knocking at our door at 10:15am on the day we had our 11 am check out. Otherwise we had a great stay and the morning breakfast was top notch. Only thing you can't get and would have to order from the menu is Eggs Benedict. read more

This hotel is great. It has large, spacious rooms with lots of natural light. The front desk people were kind and got me what I needed. They are doing a modified coffee and breakfast which is fine with me because it's better than nothing! I loved mu from and had a river view. GPS brought us successfully to this Doubletree Inn. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. As we were handed our room keys to a Hilton Honors floor with a view of the Chenango River we were also handed two warm chocolate chip cookies. Nice welcoming touch! Our room was spacious, neat and clean with all the typical toiletry amenities. The shower in the full sized tub was powerful (probably not water-saving) and had a nice wide diameter for maximum body coverage. My only concern was that the bottom of the tub seemed to lack a sure-footed finish to minimize the chance of slipping. The hotel's location in downtown makes an out of town visitor sense that the area may be a bit seedy on weekends. But there are a couple of brew pubs nearby, at least two nice restaurants that we visited, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade along the Chenango River. The hotel's bar/lounge was also a nice location for our family event to gather after the evening's festivities ended elsewhere. read more

Also, my water pressure was on the weak side, and it was a fine line behind a cold and scalding hot shower. I had to turn the little lever just enough to find the proper balance. Love this brand of hotels. Big queen beds, so comfy. Just like always the staff was extremely friendly. They checked me in quickly and gave me and my family warm cookies. I have stayed at double trees in all of the states and it seems they only hire freindly happy people. I checked in on a late snowy night. The person at the counter was eager to help. He even gave me some names and numbers of some local pizza shops. None of them were open due to the winter storm, but it was still a great gesture. Hotel was clean staff was great. I will pick this brand if available. When I had to stop I put double tree in the Google search that's how I feel about the comfy queen beds. Such a fine hotel. read more

This is probably one of the nicer 3 star hotels in the Binghamton area. I normally stay around Johnson City, but stayed here during my last stay because I got a good deal through hotwire. The hotel is clean and maintained very well. The room wasn't cramped. There's also a very nice gym with a pool that guests can use. It's an actual gym, and not one of those tiny hotel gyms with just a couple of elliptical machines. My only complain was that the hotel was pretty much empty when we got here. It was just me and my wife, but they gave us a room with 2 beds. When I asked if we could get a different room, they said they couldn't because we booked through a 3rd party. Two minutes later, they upgraded the next person to a better room. I hate hotels that don't accommodate you because you booked through a 3rd party website! read more

This review is for the restaurant inside the hotel (The River Bistro). I have eaten here for dinner several times with my family, both during Restaurant Week and other times of the year. It is always almost empty, which is a shame because the food is great and the service is always professional! I usually get the Challenge Grower's Salad and the fish entree of the evening. The desserts are also delicious, and you can't go wrong during Restaurant Week, when you get 3 courses for $20. read more

Wonderful stay! Was only there for one night. Plenty of parking both on the side of the hotel as well as the front and out back. Check in was so easy, hardly a line when I checked in. It does pay to be a Hilton Honors member, was given a great room as well as Hors d'oeuvres and happy hour in the evening, and a great breakfast the next morning. Room was spacious and clean. Beds are more on the softer side, does not bother me, but I know my partner did have a hard time sleeping. Beautiful view of the river behind the hotel. They did meet my requests I had placed before getting there, ie extra towels and pillows. The evening reception was great. Had plenty to eat. Philly cheesesteaks, chips, cheese dip and artichokes dip, bread, fruit, yogurt, wine, beer, soda.. it was all so good. The breakfast in the morning was great. Buffet style had plenty for everyone, even a picky eater. Overheard it's 15$ pp. All good, all around. Would stay here again. read more

This review is for the River Bistro restaurant located inside the hotel. I've been here a few times, mainly for work events, or during Restaurant week, and have always been pleased. The space is very well decorated and feels upscale. Restaurant week dinners have always been delicious. I went during lunch this time, and the dining room was full, which was nice to see. I've been before and it's been on the emptier side, which is a shame because the food is very good. For RW lunch, I had the Lobster Bisque, Sweet Potato topped salmon with yellow pepper coulis on top of a fennel slaw, and for dessert a Sacher torte. The soup was creamy with just the right amount of chunky seafood in it. It was well plated and served hot. The salmon was presented beautifully. I was expecting more of a potato coating, but it was more of a topping, which was fine. It lightened up the dish and gave it a nice crunch factor. The fennel slaw had a nice vinegary kick which complemented nicely with the sweetness of the pepper coulis. The torte was chocolate and apricot, and very good, maybe a tiny bit on the dry side, but that could just be the nature of the sponge cake. Overall, I was really happy with my meal. For $12 you get three courses of high quality fine dining type food. I'd rather get that than some of the other Restaurant Week options which give you a meager wrap, salad and cookie. The service was fine - a little on the slow side, but they were very busy. I'd go back and eat during non Restaurant Week, and recommend it to anyone looking for a fine dining venue. read more

Pros: Nice rooms, awesome breakfast, big pool, superb gym, friendly staff, big bath tub, a place to do makeup and hair outside of the bathroom, nice view of sunset, lots of tv channels. Cons: MISINFORMATION all around: I was promised I'd be able to use the hot tub but it closed for weekly maintenance a half hour after my arrival. Then I was told I could use it starting at 5am the next morning but it didn't actually open till noon (after check out). The restaurant hours aren't posted anywhere in the room. Room service menus say 20% gratuity is automatically added but it is not. I booked a free breakfast, was supposed to be given a voucher at checkin but wasn't, so there was a fuss when I went to breakfast. I got a bill from the waiter AFTER we had already decided it was free. Sigh. If they could just get it together this could be an amazing place to stay. read more

We stayed here last weekend for one night. The place wasn't perfect, but it had almost everything I'm looking for in a nice hotel. Pros: - The bed, pillows and linens were super-comfy so I got a really good night's sleep which is my number one goal in a hotel room. - The shower had excellent water pressure. I have long hair and hate running into a situation where I'm away from home staying at a really nice hotel and have to spend an extra five minutes just trying to rinse my hair out. - The common areas and room were all really clean. - All of the hotel staff was very professional, helpful, and nice. Cons: - As mentioned in a few other reviews there are some noise issues. I did not notice the noise from either neighboring room, or the floors above and below, but any noise in the hallway was clearly audible in the room. Fortunately there was not a loud group staying on our floor, but had there been I think our stay would have been much less enjoyable. - There was a large gap (1-2 inches) at the bottom of the bathroom door. So, any noises and smells that you hoped to keep in the bathroom, um, didn't... This just seemed like an odd oversight when everything else was so well put together. We ate breakfast Sunday morning in the hotel restaurant. They had an excellent selection of both hot and cold items. The fruit was clearly extremely fresh and had a great flavor. I also loved the breakfast breads (orange cranberry and blueberry were the two selections I had), they had great flavor and were nice and moist. Overall, it was a really nice place to stay and I would definitely stay here again when in the Binghamton area. read more

This is usually our go-to hotel in Binghamton when visiting friends. However, our visit to attend a funeral was made difficult because the shower in our room did not work. No water ... forcing us to use the sink so that we wouldn't be late. On checkout, the response from the front desk was "sorry". I'm concerned that the hotel is falling into disrepair. Since all I look for in hotels is a bed and a shower, this stay really missed the mark. read more

It's worth the stay here just for the complimentary warm double chocolate and walnut cookies! No, I'm not that happy, baggy, lovable Muppet from Sesame Street, but what a nice treat! The desk staff were polite, warmly accepted my coupon that I was given at the New York information center, and answered all my questions about local eateries. The room was immaculate, clean, new, fresh, with opulent bed duvet, pillows and nice fluffy bath towels, nicely decorated with plenty of lighting. I'd have stayed a whole week, but I had to move on. We checked in and initially the room at a glance looked clean. There was a blue Lysol seal covering the door. When we pulled back the blanket to lay down there were dirty smelly sports socks made into the bed. I called down to the front desk and was told all they could do was change the linens as housekeeping had left for the day. I was concerned the bathroom may never have been cleaned as well. They refused to do so. I was informed we would have to vacate the room while the linens were changed. I opened the door and stepped outside only to see housekeeping in the room directly next door. I went to the front desk and informed they housekeeping was in the room next door. I was only then given a different room. Don't stay there if you want a clean room!!! read more

Welcome to hell. My first experience was finding hair on the pillows...not mine! I usually like to tip the housekeepers but when I did, there were no tissues, toilet paper or coffee left. No more tips for them. Then, to add insult to injury, a barking dog!! The grounds are filthy and people smoke right in front of the entrance. I would have been better off sleeping at the hospital. I stayed at the Binghamton DoubleTree under unfortunate circumstances. My car broke down on my trip from Buffalo to NYC and the part needed to fix my car had to be ordered for the following morning. I booked a night at the DoubleTree and called to see if I could check in a few hours early. The front desk staff was extremely accomodating and had the room ready immediately. They provided warm, delicious cookies upon my arrival and each staff member I interacted with was so nice! The hotel room had 2 queen beds that were very comfortable, a nice shower, was nicely decorated and had great shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The fitness center here is actually an athletic club that's attached to the hotel and it was really great- I used it twice! The next morning the front desk attendant set up the hotel shuttle service to take me back to the mechanic. The hotel is within walking distance of some very cute restaurants and bars and is located right on the river so the views were pretty and there is a riverwalk right outside the door. Overall, this hotel had lovely staff, very nice facilities and was in a great location! read more

Amanda was a total lifesaver! We originally had a reservation at another pet-friendly hotel, but on our way to NY they mentioned that dogs are not to be left alone at any point, even in a crate (defeating the entire purpose!) I called the DoubleTree and explained the situation to Amanda, a receptionist at the hotel. She was WONDERFUL. She quickly found us a pet friendly room and let us check-in early. She even had dog treats ready for us when we checked in. We saw her the next day and she remembered us and asked how our dog was doing. So thoughtful! The hotel room was great, exactly what we needed. We ate breakfast at the buffet, which was excellent - friendly, attentive staff and plenty of options. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit! read more

Large, clean hotel. Perfect for business travelers. Not kid friendly. I was with my daughter and 2 grandsons. We had activities planned outside of the hotel, but also looked forward to relaxing by the pool while the boys were swimming. The pool is part of the health club on site. Members are using the pool for laps and classes throughout the day/evening. The rules... basically the boys could tread water. We were unable to relax for fear the boys may get in the way of a member or heaven forbid, splash someone. They were not allowed in the pool area during classes. There is nothing in walking distance outside the hotel for kids. This hotel should consider a pool for their guests and a small arcade room or similar. read more

You won't believe this. I've stayed here for years and am a Hilton Diamond member. I booked a typical online multi night stay for work. As I was driving to the hotel I started getting calls from people at my office. The marketing sales lady had taken my corporate information and emailed everyone at my company telling them that I was staying there that night and they should consider this hotel. First of all I didn't appreciate it and second when I complained the lady thought that it was perfectly ok. Just trying to offer people at your company a good deal. I never authorized or endorsed the hotel. Feeling really violated. Can't wait for the Hilton survey. read more
