I just spent 2 and half days here and it was a good experience! I was up in Owego for a multi-day work meeting. I was originally booked for the Best Western right down the road but I usually like to book Hilton for the points so I did a quick internet search and this place popped up. The reviews were way better and overall very good so I booked. I'm so glad I did. Don't base your judgement from the parking lot, which needs some work. This place is very clean and well taken care of. You can see that it was an older place but they have worked to modernize it. Our room and the bathroom was super clean as well as the breakfast area and the lobby. The bathroom had a few spots in the shower that needed some help but the bathroom was very clean and the soap, shampoo, conditioner was full! I love that Hilton provides that in all their spaces. They have snack bar in the lobby with any snack and drinks that can be charged to your room, but there is a few fast food options right within the area and there is a new Aldi at the end of the parking lot. I would definitely take a walk and stock up on some snacks and drinks for your room. We were a little nervous because the area is not really diverse so we didn't want to stand out but the staff was friendly and welcomed us and addressed anything we needed. I needed a late checkout and they accommodated me easily. The pool looked clean and they have a small gym with a Peleton and a few others machines. I didn't go in but it looked clean based on what I saw. My favorite part was the breakfast! It was fully stocked and they had some other extras that I haven't seen in other Hiltons specifically omlettes, sausage/bacon and hash browns/potatoes. The first day they had an egg white frittata with green bell peppers and it was SO good. The next day they had cheese omelettes. I enjoyed the selection for breakfast and again the area was very organized and clean. If you have a choice of where to stay in this area I would choose this one. read more

We stayed here a year ago. This time only 2 stars. The welcome at the desk was just okay. The 2 ladies were fighting with the computer while on the phone with a customer. It took at least 2 minutes to get their attention. We got our room to find out the tv did not respond to the remote. Calling front desk didn't work, because room phone had no dial tone. New remote didn't work either, staff member couldn't fix it either. They gave me an 1-800 number for tech support!!!! Really??? Tried it but after getting questions about what system the hotel had, I gave up and requested a different room. After a very deep sigh, that got resolved. We stayed here a year ago. Besides the price increase of over $30.00(nearly 33%) from last year when the News media was reporting hotel rates were down 5%, it is a nice hotel and relatively close to the event we were going to on Sunday. I asked for my bottle of water as a Silver Hilton member. I was told in no uncertain terms that "Silver" members do not get complimentary bottled water. There was a piece of paper at the check in desk confirming this, but I checked the website which says otherwise. Already a bad taste in my mouth( no pun intended). When we got to our room, queen beds, the TV would not turn on. A call to the front desk was out of the question as there was no dial-tone. My husband went back to the front desk; he was given a different TV remote. It did not work either. We were not thrilled at the option of sitting in the lobby to watch that TV. My husband returned to the front desk. We were given another room, just down the hall. It was a king bed room!!!! Funny that when I called for the reservation a month before, I was told there were no king bed rooms!!!! According to my husband, the room switch was not done "seamlessly"; there was a big sigh before doing what had to be done. Hampton breakfasts are always good. It's just a toss-up whether it is a sausage or bacon day or an omelet or scrambled egg day. On this day it was omelets and sausage. The potatoes with peppers were great. read more

Since my last review this hotel has made many changes and has transformed into a wonderful place to stay. Rooms and hotel have been updated....giving it a 5 even though they have racks for your clothing instead of drawers. One of the biggest changes we seen on this visit was the breakfast. Their breakfast was always better than most hotels...and it's free. Sunday was our usual breakfast ... eggs potatoes and sausage. but they had 2 flavors of batter for waffles. all there breakfast ccontainers have been updated and easy to access the food. But an added feature on Monday was fresh pressed juice as well as smoothies. Such a great addition to this place. One thing we noticed many more people staying here. Employees are friendly and welcoming. Plus the rooms are reasonably priced. We are a Hilton Honors customer but not always recognized, but I know we always get points for staying and we know that a free stay is coming soon. An extra bonus to staying here. read more

I want to start by saying this Hampton inn is a poor reflection of how great this room could have been. Poorly maintained facility with uncut grass and lots of garbage in the grass. During my stay I saw the front desk tell another Hotel patron that their dogs are going to be sent to animal control if they don't find another place to stay. This is a pet friendly hotel in fact I had my dog with me over the week long stay. I was absolutely shocked at how they dealt with this I overheard they had 3 days booked and with this being a pet friendly hotel maybe they should have offered a different room for the people Complaining. Unfortunately that was not the only issue of my stay. When I first arrived on Tuesday night late the last at the front desk was not nice at all and claimed that my hotel room wasn't going to be available because I booked through a third party vendor. I let her know that I contacted the hotel directly after booking to confirm my room and had to show her my room booking to confirm the study that I had booked for my stay. There was no reason for her to be nasty to snappy to at all as I greeted her with a hello. On the walls of the hotel and in the room it says all you have to do is ask for your room to be serviced with towels or a regular service. I called on Thursday and asked for a service and was told they are gone for the day and since it's the weekend I get will not service my room. I was confused because this is the first time I have ever had to ask for service let alone be told no. I then the next day had to go to the front desk and request a service a second time Also items in the room were broken and "on the to do list"- could not hang up my clothes for the wedding I was in town for. Overall I feel this whole experience deserves a one star and I will be warning others to stay away when visiting the town I grew up in. If you MUST stay in Owego, this is probably the best of the string of mid range to low range hotels that line the Susquehanah (sp?) river off of Route 17 in the town of Owego, and just outside the Village of Owego. That said, this hotel which bills itself as only a couple of years old seems "rode hard and put away wet" in many ways. We were supposed to stay two nights, we're on a whirlwind "visiting friends and family" trip in NY / NJ, but we're checking out after one night and making the long drive back to the Hudson River Valley at the end of our family time this evening. That tells you something about our opinion of this property. That said, it does seem the best of the bunch in the area and the front desk staff are friendly. So AOK rating in that context. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. For a night or two, it will do for facility, even if it seems very much a budget hotel type property (exmple - acoustic ceiling tiles in some of the public areas) that is itself on a low budget for daily operations (two sets of towels instead of the standard three). As plus point, the breakfast room / lobby has windows that look out on the Susquehanah (and the freeway beyond). Although we have to say, that as rivers go the poor Susquahanah seems a pretty brown muddy mess. :-( Tip if you're staying here - ask for your room to be on the river side of the building. It doesn't mean they'll actually HAVE a room for you there, even if you confirm it in advance, but at least you will have tried. read more

The best Hampton Inn we've ever been to so far. The room is spacious, it has a high ceiling. The view is good, it's just next to the Susquehanna River, we can hear birds chirping in the morning! The room is pretty clean, it has the shower instead of a tub in the bathroom, and I personally like shower than tub. Staff is very friendly. Smack on the river about 1.5 miles from historic downtown Owego, this Hampton Inn offers the usual Hampton benefits of free parking, free Wi-Fi and free breakfast plus a comfortable bed. This location also has an indoor pool, a small fitness room and a large breakfast area for the big free breakfast served every morning. We were fortunate enough to have a river view out our window, for what that's worth LOL, but I agree with some yelpers who complained about the utter lack of balcony. Really the view is fantastic, if you could sit out there with a drink and soak it up it would be great. But you can at least press your nose up against the glass :-) It's geeky but I'm a big fan of the charge point stations that are next to the bed: charge your phone, whatever device you brought, very convenient and modern. Otherwise not much tech in the room other than a HD television. Certainly no refrigerator. Large bathroom and unusually high ceilings in our room. My tip: ask for a top floor room so you don't hear people walking around above you. I guess this place doesn't have concrete floors... Do not attempt to drive through the portico where you check in! Long ago they had a tight turnaround, but now it has been demolished, and recent river floods didn't do it any favors. What's at breakfast? Make-your-own waffles, cold cereals, oatmeal, scrambled eggs & bacon, muffins and breads, some bad fresh fruit (green bananas and mushy apples), orange juice and three kinds of warm brown water oops! I mean coffee. All served on plastic plates and paper cups, which bugs me. read more

While I'd love to leave a five star review for all hotels, especially now after they've been struggling with Covid for over a year, I can't. We had to travel to the area in order to get Covid vaccination. Being unfamiliar with the area, we turned to several sites, including Yelp, for helpful reviews to find a place to stay. Hilton or Marriott are generally our go to brands when traveling. We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn in Owego. First, the positives. The location! Outside the City of Binghamton NY. Far enough off the beaten path where it was quiet and safe. Staff was sparse, but very friendly. Nice sized room (we chose a king studio). Be sure to ask for a room with a view of the river, it's lovely. Beds were very comfortable. While they couldn't serve their traditional breakfast, they did have a cold grab and go boxed meal set up that was pretty great. Bagels and cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt. They also had factory wrapped muffins and I think they may have even had energy bars on the side. They also offered hot coffee, tea and oatmeal packets with hot water if you wanted to go that route. Still had their market open, with prepackaged beverages and snacks. Great little diner just down the street, along with a local Pub/restaurant called MJs that should not be missed! Awesome food. The reason I couldn't leave more than three stars, and actually was leaning closer to two stars, was due to room cleanliness. Not sure why - the hotel truly seemed empty when we were there. We actually stayed two nights... Twice. We came up two times... For the first and second shots. Her first day it was rather disappointing when it came to cleanliness. Thankfully, I always bring my own Clorox wipes and Lysol. The bathroom was horrendous. There was hair all over the sink and in the basin itself. Not only long black hair, but also as though someone had shaved. It was also in with the folded washcloths. More hair in the shower. More hair stuck to the walls, likely there when wet. Finger marks on the doors. Toilet was filthy. Empty tissue box on the vanity. On the rug as soon as you stepped into the room, there was mud, quite a bit of it, as though someone had it on their shoes and it dried there. They was mold along the bottom of the large picture window. Quite a bit of it. There was paper on the rug next to the bed (meaning not well vacuumed). There were water bottles left in the refrigerator (one half empty). There was a garbage left unemptied. Lastly, the extra pillows we requested in advance were not in the room (needed due to medical; can't lie flat). What the cleanliness issue tells me is that it seems housekeeping may have been distracted when they left the room and never went back to finish. Again, this was my first stay there, and I did inform Hilton. Hilton was nice enough to provide points on my account which I was able to use for my second stay, three weeks later. I did not ask for this nor expect it, but it certainly was greatly appreciated! Fast forward to the second stay. I had high hopes. Especially with the hotel knowing of our disappointment on the first stay. Check-in went without a hitch, with the exception that the person at the front desk did not tell us the side door was not working (card reader broken). We parked where we did the first time and had to walk all the way to the front door this time. Using a cane with mobility issues, that's not always easy. Luckily the weather was good. We stayed in the same type of room, on the same floor. Unfortunately, it just seems that this hotel cuts corners when it comes to cleaning. This was a different room number, and although it wasn't as bad as the first stay - there was still hair on the sink vanity, and in the soapdish. Finger marks around the door knob in the bathroom. Finger marks on the little table in front of the sofa. One shampoo and one conditioner for two adults staying there for two nights. Two bath towels. (Since they're not providing housekeeping services unless you ask, you would think they would at least stock the bathrooms with what you need for your entire stay.) This time, they did have the extra pillows we requested in advance, much appreciated. (Beds super comfortable, pillows flat as pancakes.) The Takeaway here is that with as many Hilton Hotels we've stayed in for both business and personal use, this won't deter us from using the Hilton brand. It will, however, likely deter us from staying at this particular hotel again. Especially during a pandemic. Cleanliness is more important than ever. We will be visiting the area again in the future... we found a few great antique places that will bring us back! (And did I mention MJs?!) read more

Worst experience at any hotel ever. When we arrived we were booked into a room that had no working AC and had to be moved to another room at midnight. The new room had a slow plumbing drainage. The next morning we asked to speak with someone to address the issue and we were told just sorry for the trouble. The following day as we came in to go to sleep we asked for water and we were told that water is only available the first night. In my experience for the past 20 years that I have stayed at Hampton properties, they give you water with a smile on their face. I have a 9 day reservation at this same hotel which i will cancel immediately. Breakfast was also very unfriendly. I think its an attitude that comes from higher management. read more

I've only visited this place but haven't actually stayed a night here as I was staying at their sister property. However, my coworkers really liked this place and insisted on staying here each time they visited. If their nightly rates ever fall within the per diem rate, then I will give this place a try. At the time that I write this, they are still undergoing repairs from last year's flooding. In particular, a portion of the driveway for the front entrance is out. read more

I disagree with every single negative review of this property. I've been staying here a dozen or so times a year for ~10+ years. The staff is awesome, calls me by name when I walk in the door, always has me assigned to my favorite room, Riverside view is a nice treat, the entire property is currently being remodeled nicely, the front drive turn around was rebuilt a few years ago after being washed out by a flood that crested at 37' and to top it all off, the staff sent me a Christmas card to my home address. And I've been a Hilton diamond member for over 15 years. Remember, Hampton is not the Waldorf Astoria in NYC, it's a good value, comfy night, clean, affordable stay. 5 stars to Nikki and her staff (including Terry) read more

My experience at this hotel was totally strange. I was shocked to find people in a hospitality industry be so rude. It was such a big hassle just to check. We weren't even in our room for 5 minutes when the manager knocked on the door and said we had to leave. It was the absolutely most insane hotel experience of my life. I didn't have to deal with the staff much. They were friendly when I checked in and checked out. What I Liked -The continental breakfast was actually quite good. Eggs, sausage, and other hot foods, as well as yogurt, cereal, waffle (from a waffle-maker!), watered-down orange juice, decent apple juice, disappointing fruit, and pretty decent coffee. To be honest, the breakfast was a pleasant surprise. -My room was clean and the shower was nice. Decent channel selection on the TV. -Good location/distance from downtown Owego, NY. Close to a Tops (grocery store), gas station, and a few other stores that were convenient to have close by. Notably, it's located on a pretty river. -Swimming pool (indoor) looked nice What I Didn't Like -Yeah, it's located on a river, which is pretty. But, if you're gonna be located on a river, have the decency of having some damn balconies or something else along those lines. Seems like such a waste of beautiful scenery. -ONLY ONE DAY OF FREE-WIFI, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. You get 24 measly hours of free Wifi, before they ask you to start paying for it. It's 2014. We're shooting rockets out of our solar system, Mc-freaking-Donald's has free wifi, and same-sex marriage is becoming legal throughout much of the union, but the funking Owego NY Hampton Inn is charging me to use wifi after one day. -My room was priced at $140/night before taxes, fees, and my AAA discount, which is a good chunk of change for being in a not-terribly-awesome location. If I'm paying that much per night (and not staying in a big city or somewhere particularly fun), I'd appreciate a damn refrigerator or microwave in my room. Or a jacuzzi tub. Maybe some Andes mints on my pillow and/or a vigorous hander. I guess my point is that I really paid quite a bit for a bed, bathroom, TV, and really not anything else. I've paid much less and gotten much more and many other hotels. -No bar in the hotel. Why even open a hotel without a bar? -Fitness facility had a treadmill, recumbent bike, elliptical, and some medicine balls. A serviceable, but underwhelming experience. The Verdict If you have to stay in/near Owego, unfortunately the Hampton Inn was cheaper than the Holiday Inn. And the Treadway Inn doesn't seem terribly popular. But maybe see if there's somewhere less of a disappointment than the Hampton Inn. Though, if you get stuck here, I do recommend the continental breakfast, which I quite liked. Then again, I just remembered about their crappy wifi thing where they charge you for more than one day of wifi. Stay somewhere else. read more

Worst customer service! Spent 60,000 points for the worst Hampton experience I've ever had. I wrote a review on my survey and got no call meaning the management doesn't care at all. No customer service would walk by and look at them and they were too busy to even say hi. I'm a gold member so I thought I'd be treated a little better! I love this hotel - mostly because of the staff. I've been coming here for a few years now and they always make me feel welcomed - almost like family (which usually you want to leave after three days). There's always a warm smile, fresh cookies and hot coffee when I arrive. The rooms are always clean and the breakfast is just what you need to get you going in the morning. Now true this is a Hampton Inn located outside the town of Owego, so there's no bar or restaurant. I've stayed in pricier hotels in NYC, Washington DC and Boston - that have the nice fancy bar and restaurant and spent 3-4 times the price to stay there. I find that the rooms and bed of these hotels are of the same quality that are here. But there's no warm smile to greet you, certainly no cookies or hot coffee (unless you purchase it) and for sure no free breakfast or WIFI at those fancier hotels that cost a lot more. So sure this is a Hampton Inn and I'm glad I found this place and always look forward to coming back here - and leaving in 3 or 4 days, just like family. read more

Lovely hotel, great location and amazing staff. This is our 3rd, of maybe 4th stay at this hotel, and while I can go about all the usual positives-nice big rooms, clean, good breakfast, even with COVID adjustments, pool, what really made a huge difference during our last stay is that we had an issue with our car, and while dealing with all of that, the staff was so nice! We were supposed to stay Thu-Sun, but our car broke down, and while we were working out on getting a new one, and selling the old one to the junkyard, we had to extend our stay by two nights. Everyone was so accommodating: our stay was extended at the same price as we paid before, even though the official rate was higher, they were asking all the time if there was anything that we needed, there were no issues to get a later checkout, extra towels, etc, etc. They really treated us like family. We will definitely stay here again should we be in the area. read more

Great hotel, with friendly staff! We booked a last minute room for a wedding and were only able to get a smoking room. They changed the room, ASAP, even though they were overbooked. Extremely accommodating and nice. The rooms were very clean and they offer free items if you forget something at home, like a toothbrush! The free breakfast has a number of options for any eater. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The only reason I knocked off a star was the rooms did not have a refrigerator and the pool room was too hot to even enjoy the pool. read more

Typically the Hampton Inn is a brilliant place to stay, always nice room and attentive staff. However my mother called to book a room was told a room was available, she went to book it and then was told it was unavailable. Very frustrating. On top of that they do not offer any discount for AARP or for Military. With rates at least $20.00 more per night than any other similar hotel in the area, the least they could do is offer a discount that shows support for those who sacrifice for our great nation. Next time I will skip calling Hampton Inn Owego and just call the Treadway. read more

We had a nįce stay. Decent sized room. We stayed on the third floor river side, which provided a lovely view. No fridge in room but clean bed and bathroom. Neutrogena toiletries. Free wifi and HBO. Breakfast was perfectly fine. Eggs, cereal (hot and cold), make-your-own waffles, yogurt and baked goods. They seem to have run out of fruit both days for us. Coffee and tea are available all day and night. Heads Up: They still have smoking rooms! That surprised me but we selected a room on the other far end of the hallway and fortunately didn't smell any smoke. Also, for some reason, house keeping never came to clean our room. They came in and replenished the toiletries but didn't make our bed and didn't take out the garbage. Still, it was all in all a fine stay at a decent price. read more
