Located right on a noisy roadway, but some rooms are quietly nestled in the back. Design is moronic. Large lobby area with nothing. No coffee, no pitchers of chilled water, cookies, apples.....No signs to indicate where the elevator is, which happens to be quite a distance from the lobby. Rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and very clean. Service? Well we arrived at 11:30am and were told no rooms were available and that they would text us when one was ready. We stored our bags. Having received no text, we returned at 2:15 to find out that there were a number of rooms ready. Oh well, sorry to say overall this is a pretty dismal experience, not one that we have come to expect from Doubletree or other Hilton properties. read more

This place has so many negatives. One night here and I need to get sleep and take a shower. The elevators didn't work so I had to walk up to the second floor with a bad knee. The room is very old. The bed is like sleeping on marshmallows. The front desk employees were fine. And offering chocolate chip cookies is Doubletrees claim too fame. I can buy my own cookies. Give me a clean quiet room so that I can sleep. Not in this place. Should be rebranded as a motel read more

I used to love this hotel. We always stay here because of the Enterprise Car rental inside and the location. Rooms are large as are the bathrooms but what was once a lovely hotel is now a longer. I stayed here as a part of a reunion group. The hotel did have it's challenges, they are undergoing a remodel. The elevator was not operable. They were waiting for the final inspection. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was excellent and very accommodating because of the challenges. They took excellent care of our hospitality room. read more

My husband and I were visiting the area for my friend's wedding, and since we live about two hours away, decided it would be best to rent a hotel room from our friend's hotel block. The hotel was not even a minute away which was super convenient, it was right down the road. The concierge at the front desk was nice and accommodating, and even asked us if we wanted a cookie (which was nice and warm!) It was chocolate chip and oat, delicious! The hotel was fine and served it's purpose, the room could use a little bit of sprucing up, but all in all was totally fine! I appreciated that the room got nice and cold during this August heat. In the morning, my husband and I were planning on checking out around 10:30 AM. We woke up around 7:30-8:00 AM to check out the restaurant in the hotel for Breakfast. Housekeeping was already around knocking on people's doors. Unfortunately, our room didn't have the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the back of the door for us to use. Around 9:30-10:00 AM, housekeeping knocked on the door (since she couldn't get in with the card key since we locked the door). We told her that we were still staying in the room, and she moved on. Once we checked out, we had to wait about a minute or so for a concierge to get to the desk. She seemed a little monotone/unfriendly, but oh well. It's ok for an overnight, but the room had a funny smell. The bed was comfy and the towels thick and soft. Refillable shampoo etc eliminates the single-use plastic toiletries! Breakfast not included! The restaurant offers in-room delivery so i ordered breakfast- pricy but fresh... and they had no cream for coffee- so they sent me what they had, lowfat milk. They don't have 24 coffee service like most other hotels these days and coffee was sold at coffee shop prices! read more

The only reason I am not giving the DoubleTree Mahwah more than one star is that the hotel has a good staff. I have without exception only encountered a friendly and competent group doing their best at the front desk. The hotel is not good. It does not reach the lower depths of receiving my roach motel award, but in fact is headed in that direction. I have stayed here before. The DoubleTree has never been great, but now i can see it I deteriorating. The rooms are old and the halls (at least on floor 2) do not have AC that is working. While we are on the subject of AC, the initial room in which I stayed had an AC unit that rival the sound of a jet engine. It kept me awake most of the night. The refrigerator also made a loud buzzing sound and appeared not to work. Halls, as noted above were not cooled, but also filthy. Minimal towels in room. A walk around the hotel suggests that many of the rooms are being cannibalized to ensure equipment of other rooms. I will say again, the staff is great. I usually do not write this but feel bad adding this review to Yelp. I have stayed here over the years and have always felt that for the price it is a pretty good property. My guess is that this is one of the places that is having trouble recovering from the Covid economy. read more

Hotel is an absolute horror. I cannot believe Hilton would still let them operate under their umbrella in this condition. The entire hotel needs a refurbishment. Upon entry Lobby is old and messy. Personnel at desk seemed lazy and did not want to get off her chair. The guest rooms were old as can be. Rusted toilets, poor lighting, ancient a/c -heater, furniture was badly scratched and worn. I travel with Hilton all the time and never saw a Hilton property so bad. Asked when restaurant would open for breakfast (as I paid more in the rate for it) they said 6:30. It was 7:05am the doors were still locked. Business travelers like to get downstairs around 6:00am. I am a Diamond level customer and expect more than this. Overall- pass this place up and go down the street to the Hampton Inn (brand new). read more

Circa 2000 hotel with zero investment in renovation. The only thing that seems to be thriving is the Enterprise Rental Car on its premises.

I'm not sure what hotel his starter as, but I don't think it was this one. Either way, it feels like it's been renovated. This is a mid level hotel. Because it's close to NYC it costs quite a bit. Checkin was smooth and easy. I arrived late and they still had a nice warm cookie for me. Totally inexteleced little treat. I was I the 6th floor pretty far from the elevator. I get not all rooms are near them, but it felt pretty far away. Room was nice and large. The shower was roomy. Room was clean. The tv didn't work but it took only a call to the desk to solve that. Someone came up quickly and knew immediately what the issue was. There's no reason not to stay here. But I'd look for an Internet deal. 46/R-a-D Challenge read more

Don't let their pictures fool you, there's nothing special going on here. Absolutely nothing. Here you pay hotel prices and get motel charm. I found several things wrong with my room including sliding doors that didn't slide, burned out light bulbs (so obvious), a nasty dirty wall heating unit and a thermostat that does nothing. It's cold in here at night! I'm taking ALL the covers off the unoccupied second bed and putting them on mine to try to keep warm. How much am I paying for this place? Triple digits. A switch plate fell off the wall when I unplugged an appliance and there is old hair stuck to my new(?) shampoo bottle. Do they have building maintenance? AND the room overlooks a sea of rooftop air conditioning units. Nothing special here. Try the Sheraton Mahwah instead. They have a first-class operation going on. read more

My experience here was quite enjoyable and memorable. The love of my life brought me here for my birthday visit and we were greeted with a warm cookie :D how sweet! The bed was soft (for those of you that like that sort of thing) so I had a couple of days with back pain but I personally do best on an ultrafirm mattress. And for whatever reason or another we were put in a Smoking room, I believe it was either a king in smoking or two doubles in a non... BUT at least we were at the end of the hallway so my pregnant self only had to endure the smell as I walked down. Our room didn't smell very much if at all. Maybe it was the gorgeous flowers he bought me :) They have an indoor pool and jacuzzi, a fitness center and a car rental place on site. Everyone is super friendly. There is a restaurant I think, but with 24/7 diners around, we never visited it.the bathroom was nice and always stocked. They replaced the towels even when I made towel animals and they didn't dismantle them hehe. The tv was nice and big and a flatscreen. Internet was reset once a week with new codes but all you have to do is ask. I'd certainly stay here again. read more

The staff makes this a four star review! I stayed one evening while traveling for work. I was giving a presentation at a nearby facility, and this location was quite convenient. Upon checking in, I was given the traditional Doubletree cookie (still warm and a true calorie bomb, but tasty nonetheless). My work colleague grabbed a drink at the adjoining burger bar (called Boom) while I freshened up. The hallways on the first floor were a bit tired, but it is a high traffic area, so I suppose that is inevitable. I noted the business center on the way to the elevator, for future use. The room, located on the top floor (3rd floor), was gigantic. It had a living area, complete with a fridge, microwave, and all the necessities to make coffee. The sleeping area was adjoining this room and had its own TV (for a total of 2 TVs in the room). The bathroom was a bit on the small side, given how big the living area was. In retrospect, I would have considered dedicating a little more space to the size of the bathroom. Despite that, the bathroom had everything I needed, a good hairdryer, and some all the hygiene stuff you could ask for. In addition to the cookie, there were three chocolate squares and two bottles of water waiting for me in the room. I left the chocolates behind, but definitely put the bottles of water to use. The business center allowed me to print off my boarding pass before my presentation so that I would be all square for a morning departure. As I said in the beginning, the staff really was fantastic. When I woke up and found the receipt under the door, there was a greeting card in an envelope attached to it. It was a handwritten thank you note, including the details about hoping that my presentation went well. When I left to head for the presentation, the woman at the front desk wished me good luck. Finally, the morning of my check out I received an email from the general manager of the hotel thanking me for the business. In summary, a three-star hotel with nearly five-star thoughtfulness. read more

We spent a couple of nights at this Hotel when visiting this part of the world. Just an average hotel on the lower end of DoubleTree brand, in my opinion. Rooms and beds are a-okay. Have to walk a lot to get to your car or the front desk. And there were a few places where we had to pick out bags up to get the from the elevator to the main level - no ramp or such. read more

This hotel is nice, its located in a place to make it convenient to where Im going. The rooms clean, and service was on point. Parking in back is good. My one and only complaint is theyre wifi sucks!! It drops off every few minutes and theres no continental breakfast!! Im not sure why there isnt breakfast, they only provide a bowl of fruit with bananas that are turning brown. Not very appealing looking. To me these two things are unacceptable. In this day and age of technology all hotels should have complimentary wifi that works and breakfast. Not too much to ask at all for what it costs per night. read more

After being treated like dirt and kicked to the Curb by Southwest Airlines, I needed to find a place to stay overnight. There were no flights to Chicago this evening. I needed someplace to stay, nearest place that had vacancies was this hotel, 40 miles from Newark Liberty Airport. After being treated like dirt by our infamous U.S. airline people, I needed someplace clean and comfortable to chill and relax. This DoubleTree filled the bill. The room I had was clean and comfortable, I got some free cookies and water for being a guest and the person behind the desk (George) was polite, friendly and engaging. It was like water for a man dying of thirst. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant as it served mostly bar food, burgers and fried appetizers, so I cannot vouch for that. All in all, at a time when things were just crummy, Hilton came through like a breath of fresh air. read more

First off... Brides, choose one of the many other hotels in the area! I'm not a fan of DoubleTree to begin with. The only reason for our visit was my cousin chose this for her wedding. There was something stuck to the tv & the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned. Made us question how clean the rest was. We were in a rush to get to the reception so we never mentioned it. The temp was set to 64 when it was only 75 (& raining) outside. Way too soft for most people & if you have a bad back it's horrible. I don't think connected rooms are a good thing. This was not shown in the floor map. I would have tried to find one without. Most guests do not need this & can be easily disturbed by the connection. The tv next door was at a reasonable volume but still woke me 3-4 times. We hit the bar after which was under staffed. They needed at least 1 more. Took forever to get their attention let alone any drinks. However drinks were made correctly. The breakfast buffet was ok. We were never told at check in that a voucher was needed. It cost $14 pp but for the price of the room & selection it should be included. Food was good but for the price (yes, not included) it sucked. Minimal selection & if your vegan forget it. Jersey is known for it's great diners. Go to one of the 2 down the road. The only positive I have is the staff was friendly & professional. read more

First off one star is good! They don't deserve that! My boyfriend and I went to check in and the disrespect was so unreal! We always pay cash to get our deposit back asap. Told Lia the clerk we were paying cash since we had limited funds in the card. She said she needs a card on file at least. We said no problem. She still tried charging the card it declined. We said we knew it would. This is too much to type but I'll keep going. She than ok I can pay cash we will just charge 50$ on the card. Lucky I had 90$ in the card even tho we explained a million times we had no money in it for her. But being that she tried charging the card already. It took the 90$ I had and is now pending even till now cuz of her company and I didn't have the 50$ now for the deposit. She kicks us out with an attitude and started getting an attitude for no reason! She started raising her voice and just a horrible attitude! Gave the last Hilton in the area a try. What a bad idea! Walk in the room and hear the toilet running.Who checks these rooms? Answer NO ONE! By the time I've dragged my stuff - up the stairs just to get to the elevator and settled in the room , the toilet stops working completely. Nothing better than paying for an overpriced room and having to go down 4 flights and walk across the hotel to use the public rest room at 4 AM! Tell the guy at the desk who ignores me. Go back in the morning and tell the girl. I Clearly explain that i want the toilet fixed but do not want the rest of the room touched. She says " Don't you have a DO MOT DISTURB sign?" Obvioulsly I don't because NO ONE DOES! She says she'll take care of it. I'm out at a wake and return to find my entire room and my personal items touched and moved. Yes, I'm Covid paranoid so I don't want anyone in my room after I sprayed Lysol everywhere! What's another $8 can of Lysol after i already over paid for a crap room!?! Im not even touching on the 100 year old mattresses or the creepy guys hanging outside. I have now tried every Hilton hotel in the area and I'm done with their crap hotels and service! read more

Less than what I expected. Cigarette burns throughout (non-smoking) room, which we almost didn't get, even though that's what we booked. Warm Cookies are a nice gesture at check in. Cleanliness and care for the room..? Eh, clean to what standards?.. I guess since I am a professional cleaner I have high expectations for a (3*) hotel. Head board of the bed had what looked like a kid wiped (sorry to be so blunt) snot down the front of it, but you could only see it if you were looking for impurities in the room (like I do.) I like to know that even if the quality of a hotel isn't quite what you'd want, that they'd at least keep it sanitary for you. But this one kinda let me down. Even though the quality of the room was good, the cleanliness was lacking in my book. Oh yeah, there was also what looked to be like 'clippings' from a man shaving his face perhaps.. Which was gross. There were only a few, but they were right on the bathroom counter and I am quick to notice little things like that. Very comfy bed, and pillows :) I'd stay again (even though I did wash several things upon arrival) If they had on point, professional house cleaning this hotel would be a little better. read more

Clean room, comfortable bed, fridge and coffee pot in room. Priced very well at $60/night through Priceline. Convenient location and free business center / printing. I would definitely stay here again. I did not use indoor pool, but one was available. Cons: The right-hand elevator has some issues going up. You'll need to hold the button of the floor you want until you arrive there, otherwise it only goes up one floor at a time. Also, onsite continental breakfast at New York Steakhouse (see my review of that establishment) is not complementary. read more

Well, this place was recommended by the coordinator for our training/workshop. It had a shuttle bus to and from the company which was nice. Also, it had a nice business center to check email and print out tickets. The fitness was also nice as well. I just remembered my room being especially cold with AC cranked on high for some reason. Plus, there was condensation on the carpet next to the AC unit. Otherwise, the room was not too shaby but could have been nicer. I would have to say the steakhouse which is in this hotel is really good so that makes up for the average room. Plus, it is easy access right off I-287 which is nice. The world series was on in the restaurant with the Phillies but ended up watching it in my room. read more

Clearly the other reviews are not recent...I think TripAdvisor's reviews are a bit more accurate right now. As for my experience, I was surprisingly disappointed - even moderately annoyed - at the poor impression I received on my first night. Many small but important things will cause me to not come here again. What I found disappointing or downright unpleasant: - Cleanliness - Maintenance/general upkeep of property - No room service/restaurant available during my visit - The method in which the GM decided notify HiltonHonors guests (or any guests) about the lack of room service Location is also confusing...tricky to look up online/GPS. My family and I stayed at this hotel from may 4th thru the 7th. First off arriving at the hotel from out of town it was a long drive me us and our children.m, about 12:30am we noticed our toilet did not work we were Informed that there was no staff on duty to fix the problem and the front desk manager was unaware of where to find a plunger to fix the problem. We had to uproot our children, repack and move rooms which was a huge inconvenience within it self. The next morning while trying to redeem our included breakfast, we were told there was a 13.99 per person charge. After explaining that our itinerary included breakfast we were given vouchers from a unsettled manager. The day before our departure the room was cleaned but not well. My children had chocolate finger prints on the window seal which could have been wiped up easily. My wife and myself were very busy during this trip as we came on business. Upon check out about 2hrs after our departure we were told there was a 150 charge for those chocolate stains that could have been cleaned up with the turnover of the room. I'm not sure what was the cause because nothing had to be replaced I guess we were charged for the labor of having to do it.we tipped when we left as well as the day before when the room was serviced. As a frequent hotel stayer the charges were u warranted and we will be persuing this matter to the fullest. I will never stay at another double tree even though we are Hilton honors members. I know the charges were retaliatory as the manager did not want to give us the vouchers for breakfast. Please be aware or this hotel read more
