Over 40 years ago, I lived in Suffern and knew this place as the Holidome. I was back in town for my 50th High School Reunion. It has been completely remodeled. While I never stayed overnight back then, we often came to the bar or for special events. I will let you know about the room, the staff, the atrium, the grounds and the food served at the reunion. More and more hotels are going towards hard floors instead of carpeting. This was one of them. Everything was spotless and the bed was comfortable. There were two things that were not great. Since the room overlooked the atrium, late night groups congregated and were a bit noisy. It would have been nice if they enforced quiet hours. The other was another minor issue. I could not find the refrigerator because it was not in a logical place. There was a small kitchenette off in the corner. The refrigerator was not there, it was under the TV in the main room. Curious. Staff was very helpful but there was one error that almost caused an embarrassing situation. They assigned me to a room that was already occupied by another guest. A staff member came running up to stop me just as my room key was just inches from the door lock.. Expansive and central to the hotel was a beautiful atrium. It included a koi pond, a small bar, fountains, a floral wall and many, many seating areas for parties or receptions. It was noisy. The weekend of our HS reunion, staff mentioned how crazy busy they were. On my arrival there were two wedding receptions in full swing. I was tempted to, but did not pick up a plate and walk through one of the buffet areas. Weather could not have been any better for an outdoor stroll. Gardens, a fountain, lawns, and pavilions were all around the grounds. All were so beautiful I took many photos. There was one large sculpture in one of the yards. People congregated on lawns, playing outdoor games and enjoying the quiet, even though the NY State Thruway was just beyond the tree line. At the reunion, there was a nice buffet. Instead of sampling all the dishes, I opted for chicken, salmon and some rice. Chicken and salmon were nicely seasoned and moist. Coupled with the rice, the meal had a nice mouth feel and flavor. When I finished my plate, I wanted to see what dessert they had. There was none, but then again, I left early because I was tired. They probably brought those out again. However, I actually did get to taste a dessert morsel. Flashback to my thoughts about crashing the buffet line at the wedding reception. Deception was not on my mind, but as I was passing by a dessert buffet, I commented to a young lady that the ice cream bar looked good. The server immediately offered me a bowl. I made it clear that I was not with the party. He said he did not care. So I picked up a petite-fours. It was very good. Overall, the stay was a nice experience. The room was clean, the staff helpful, the atrium and grounds beautiful, and the food was very good especially for buffet service. While I may never get back to the part of the country, if I do I will stay here again, but ask for a room on the far side, away from the atrium noise. read more

Stay dates: June 16-19, 2026 I've been staying at IHG properties at least 4-6 times a year, mostly in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Manhattan for the past 5 years. I've accumulated points, chosen IHG over competitors, and considered myself a loyal customer. After this experience, I am done and I mean that. During a family vacation in NJ and NY, my wife discovered the in-room phone wasn't working, leaving her no way to reach anyone for guest or room services. She went to the front desk for help. A staff member named Sharon told her to go talk to the bartender and said she had no other way to help. That alone was bad enough. But what made it truly unacceptable was how Sharon treated my wife during that conversation. She raised her voice. She rolled her eyes. She spoke in a condescending, belittling tone, all over a minor miscommunication about whether my wife said "room service" or "guest/room service." A guest should never, under any circumstance, be spoken to that way by a front desk professional. Later that evening, I asked to speak with the front desk manager on the spot. Sharon told me her manager was not available and that she had no idea when her manager would be in for the rest of the week. In other words, there was no escalation path offered whatsoever. I followed up with a formal written complaint to hotel management. I also contacted IHG corporate directly. I received zero response. Not an acknowledgment. Not an apology. Nothing. That silence tells me everything I need to know about how IHG values its loyal members. I have accumulated IHG points over many years of faithful stays. I now regret that loyalty and am prepared to forfeit every single point rather than give this brand another dollar of my business. I will not return to this property. I will not stay at another IHG hotel. If you are an IHG member reading this know that your loyalty may not mean what you think it does when it actually matters. Avoid this hotel. I'm posting this review after attempting to resolve the situation privately with both the hotel and eventually Linda Columbia who is the Director of Rooms and the booking platform, but unfortunately no meaningful resolution was provided. Linda said since I booked 3rd party by way of Booking.com that there was nothing she could do and told me to reach out to Booking.com. My husband and I stayed for one night at the Crowne Plaza Suffern-Mahwah by IHG on March 7-8, 2026. The stay turned out to be extremely disruptive. Around 11:00 PM, we began hearing a loud, constant whistling noise coming from the bathroom plumbing in our room. It appeared to be a mechanical issue with the pipes and made it very difficult to sleep. Shortly after we finally fell asleep, the hotel's emergency alarm system activated, repeatedly instructing all guests to evacuate the building immediately. My husband and I evacuated along with many other guests and were required to stand outside in the rain for approximately 45 minutes while the alarm continued. What was most concerning was that no information was provided to guests about what was happening or whether it was safe to return. Once we were eventually allowed back inside, there was no explanation or communication from the hotel regarding the situation. The following morning, we also received a receipt slipped under our door showing a Mastercard payment, even though the stay had already been prepaid through PayPal via Booking.com. When we asked the front desk about this at checkout, the staff seemed confused and somewhat irritated rather than providing a clear explanation. After more than a week of back-and-forth communication between the hotel and Booking.com, the only resolution offered was a $14.95 credit, which required me to submit my credit card information through a link to receive it. Considering the mechanical issue in the room, the late-night evacuation, standing outside in the rain for 45 minutes, the billing confusion, and the lack of communication afterward, this response felt extremely inadequate. I understand that emergencies happen, but what was most disappointing was the lack of communication and accountability afterward, both from the property and in the resolution process. I hope hotel management reviews this situation and takes it seriously, because this experience fell far below the level of service and guest care I expected from a Crowne Plaza property. read more

The staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms are clean and the beds are cozy- we wanted to take the pillows sooo badly LOL (don't worry we didn't). The lobby is huge. Theres a koi pond with a gorgeous fountain, theres a bar, a restaurant, a small convenience store and what i think was the breakfast area. The rooms on the balconies facing the lobby were a must, i wouldnt have wanted any other room. We are extremely happy with our stay and will return to this hotel next year when we come to our second renaissance faire! read more

Strange room layout but suffient and clean -- except that the toilet is about 3 inches tall -- talk about squatting! If you have mobility issues or just bad knees, do NOT stay here. Lobby/Restaurant/Front Desk staff all very friendly and efficient. Did not have the room cleaned during our 2-day stay, so can't comment on that service. Our room over looked the noisy atrium. We were here for a special event and can echo the words of other reviewers -- while the buffet meals provided to our group were good, we longed for a cookie afterward -- no dessert! read more

Nice hotel with a beautiful opened lobby area but did not like the pest situation in my room. Actually, I crushed one of those roaches that was crawling on the telephone in my room and brought it in a tissue to the front desk and quietly showed him the issue and his response was to jump away and screech. When I asked him what he was going to do about it, he said he would get someone to address the issue but that never happened. read more

To start off in terms of basic minimum if what is a good hotel, this hotel does it. Clean rooms, soft bed, somewhat attentive but speedy service. Good temperature control in rooms and a nice size tv. So why the 2 stars? Because this is suppose to be a premium hotel. Theres suppose to be some extra oomf going on that separates this hotel from a run of mill hotel/motel ya see on the side of the road. While the lobby is beautiful, its also poorly designed and seriously just looks like a motel with a koi pond and a bar in it. On their website: They dont mention that their restaurant is pretty much closed except for breakfast. They dont mention that they dont offer room service anymore. But you can order food from the bar to pick it up. But what they dont mention is that the bar closes an hour earlier than the listed times downstairs. So if youre planning on that to be the thing youre gonna eat after a late night: dont. The worst part is that they charge premium hotel prices while offering motel level services. The only thing saving it is that the room was clean, though there was a big stain on the couch so really Im not sure if I should even give it that. I personally wouldnt stay here again for the price that they are charging, but I guess they can get away with it due to having so many events there. Also to those who are worried about covid: No one wears them here. Not the workers, nor the guests. There are no signs that tell you to wear a mask and no one checks if anyone is vaccinated. Stayed for one night while working locally (therefore I did not pay for the room). The room is quite pretty and very spacious. I liked the modern decor and finishes - it didn't feel like a typical suburban cookie-cutter hotel. Part of me was glad that my view was not of the parking lot. Another part of me was a little weirded out that my room overlooked the lobby (and ground floor), and people were sometimes walking by. But - they had blackout curtains and a clip to keep them closed, so privacy was not an issue. The bathroom is really pretty but the shower is a little odd -- the glass door doesn't slide, so while you are showering, the water is getting all over the floor, since it's completely open. It also means that you have to get INTO the shower and under the showerhead to turn on the water - which was an uncomfortably cold few seconds until the water warmed up. K-cups in the room were great. The water bottles were a nice touch, too, although I realized after the fact that they were $4 each haha. I liked the shower products - and especially loved the relaxation aromatherapy lotion and aroma mist spray that were left on the bed. The bed was SUPER SOFT (blegh), so I had no support and just sank into it as if it were a big fat marshmallow. Not for me, but perhaps other people like that. I came to the Hotel late at night-early morning. I put out the do-not-disturb sign. But I was waken up by cleaning crew literally every hour from 8 in the morning, even though they saw the do-not-disturb sign. I couldn't sleep. This happened to me in the past as well. What a disgrace. They charge the most of any hotel in the area, basically paying 200 bucks to be bombarded with knocks on the door in the morning every hour. read more

If you value rest and quiet do not stay here. And if you do stay here anyway, do not accept a room anywhere near the lobby/atrium. They hold events feet away from the rooms near the lobby and you can hear everything in your room. It's currently 11pm on a Thursday night and there are people at least 15 people outside my door talking, playing cards, etc. I've already had to move rooms once because the ceiling tiles above the shower were falling out. I would not recommend this hotel for any reason - there's others on the vicinity that can't be worse than this. read more

AVOID CROWN PLAZA! Stayed 3 Nights; Switched to 4 rooms DO NOT stay at this hotel if you want: * a working thermostat (air conditioning unit); * a comfortable room; * a hassle-free stay; * a quiet place to relax; * a hotel staffed with adequate security; and * a nice room with quality amenities; I spent three nights at this place & ended up needing to stay in 4 separate rooms! Day/Night 1: Rm#316 & Rm#323--Checked into Rm#316. A/C unit broken. Maintenance guy couldn't fix it. He said many of the A/C units weren't working cuz they were old. So, they moved us late in the hot evening to Rm#323 with a working A/C--finally. Day/Night 2: Early Sunday morning noisy guests next door decided Sunday AM was a perfect time to party in the hallway. About 8 people from several rooms were yelling, laughing, throwing things, hitting the walls, and slamming doors. I complained & the Front Desk sent "security" (I guess), but everyone just laughed at them. And they kept it up. Nothing was ever done about them. So, we left to get a little peace&quiet. That groups ended up checking out. But later that night, a large group of new guests, just as loud as the previous group, took over most of the rooms in the hotel. Again, security(?) did nothing. Day/Night 3: Rm#341 & Rm#167: The new group of guests ended up being even worse the next morning. We again had to leave the hotel to get some quiet. When we returned at 2PM for a nap, the people in the room next to us had literally turn their room into a makeshift day-care center for all the kids in their group. I saw at least 10 women (believe it or not) in the room watching over multiple screaming, crying, tantrum-throwing kids--about a dozen of them--from babies to toddlers. So much for taking a nap. So, we called AGAIN to complain. Nothing was done about them, but we were given a different rooms--our third one: Rm#341. I thought everything would be fine. But I was wrong. THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IN THIS ROOM ALSO DIDN'T WORK! I called at 5:15PM for maintenance.....By 6PM--no one came. So, I went to the front desk to ask, in person, for someone to please fix the A/C. Still, no one came. I again went down to the front desk at 6:45PM & once more asked for maintenance. Finally, at about 7:30PM, a guy finally showed up (i.e., over two hours after I had first called about the A/C). Not surprisingly, this maintenance guy also said the A/C was broken (as were several of them in other rooms). So, we moved to our 4th room..... Rm#167. Day 4: Rm#167: We checked out on our final day, but not without more issues. 1. The bill slipped under the door had a charge for breakfast, which was supposed to be included with our room rate. But the woman who took our breakfast coupons seemed upset that we were going to be getting a free breakfast--so she apparently decided to just charge us. I had to have that charge removed upon check-out. (Interestingly, while waiting to speak to the front desk, the lady in front of me was complaining about their A/C not working in their room--they must've been given one of our reject rooms.) 2. Much to my shock, at 8:15AM, someone decided to play BAGPIPES in their room. The shockingly loud "music" literally reverberated across the entire 1st floor (and lobby) like someone was blasting music thru a loudspeaker. I mentioned to the Front Desk: "Did you know someone s playing bagpipes and it's really loud?" The staffer rolled her eyes and said: "I know they're having some sort of celebration or ceremony." 3. Regarding all four rooms, they were inconsistent with their amenities. One room lacked towels & had no soaps/shampoo in shower. Another room had the soaps/shampoos, but had no comforters on the beds. The third room had black out curtains that didn't close all the way. And in ALL 4 ROOMS, the USB ports didn't work. The ONLY good things about this place was the breakfast buffet, which came with our room(s). It was fantastic. But, tbh, I would have much rather bought my own breakfast somewhere else and been able to stay in just 1 room for 3 nights & have an A/C unit that actually worked. Only been here a few hours and I have to say my feelings are mixed. The rooms are clean and the front staff was super sweet and accommodating; they even let us check in early so we could get ready for the wedding we're attending. We had about 1.5 hours before we needed to leave so I decided to order room service. Turns out the menu in the binder in the room was outdated and they didn't have the items I was requesting, but never fear, housekeeping was going to run an updated menu to me so I could order. About 40 minutes later, I still hadn't received a menu and therefore did not have enough time to order. So I guess I'm a little hangry writing this review because I was looking forward to eating and having a glass of wine prior to the wedding. We're only here one night so I can't speak long term about service. Thank you front staff for getting us in! I give it a 3.5. I'm an IHG member so they gave me the standard greeting, welcome, and thanks for being a member spill. I booked the room for several nights less than 12 hours before I arrived and they had the space! So that was a plus! Upon arrival they have everything ready for me. Room key, check in information, and tickets for a complimentary breakfast every morning of my stay. I thought it was nice to get free breakfast every morning! But as the days went one I saw a majority of the guests had the same complimentary breakfast tickets, so I'm not sure what the spin on this was, or who actually has to pay for breakfast?? Anyways, breakfast was very good. Great buffet style with a chef standing by to prepare omelettes. While I was there the hotel hosted a few weddings, engagement parties, and an anniversary. They accompanied very large groups and as the partying went on through the night, I couldn't hear a thing in my room! Slept like a baby each night. Very nice setup for all types of engagements. I stayed in a king size room. The room was very nice and large. There was even a nice bench style sofa to lounge on. Wifi worked great!!! And there was a cool data, power, and HDMI porting area to hook up devices to. Now the negatives: the rooms don't have a microwave. When I booked the room they said they could provide one upon request. I arrived and asked for one; unfortunately the one they brought down didn't work and I never saw a replacement come. I stopped by the front desk 3 times, but was told they were all checked out and in other rooms. Granted I did come during a time frame when several people were staying for long periods, but just put them in all the rooms. . . . Also, unique to this location you can skip having your room cleaned and for each day you do, they will give you a $5 credit, or 500 reward points! I found out about this when I saw the placard hanging on someone else's door. I guess I missed the placard when I first arrived at the hotel. It was laying on my bed and I just grabbed all that crap and put it in a drawer. It would be better if they tell you this when you check in, more people would prob participate in it. They did go back and check the house cleaning log and credited me for the days I didn't use it (which was already 80% of my stay). It would've have been 100% of my stay if I would've known about the program before. So I missed out on a few days/points. Overall it was a nice hotel and I enjoyed my stay, I just felt like I spent to much time at the front desk trying to resolve simple issues. Hence the 3.5 rating. read more

I'm only here waiting for someone but as soon as I walked in the door, I felt so comfortable. I gravitated more towards the fireplace because it was friggin' chilly outside. I walked around a bit because it's my first time here and wow. This hotel is just beautiful. Simple but beautiful. I probably looked like a creeper walking around and snapping pictures of everything. I can only imagine what the rooms look like! I will give this place three stars only because I'm here only to meet with someone and I didn't get the full guest experience. read more

Crown Plaza hotel -Don't be fooled. Looked nice on the outside , but the carpet needs to be replaced, half the ice makers are down for maintenance, no microwaves and people (unsure if hotel guests or visitors to the club or event) were questionable. -On one night, the hotel supported a party or event during one of the nights we stayed at the hotel. Loud music, people yelling and smoking marijuana in the staircase they claimed was coming from outside the building. -Although legalized, I understand everyone has the individual right to enjoy themselves but not at the expense of others. They have the gaw to disrupt everyone's else's night with the smell coming from the hallway into your room. It's downright disrespectful. When your recreational enjoyment becomes disruptive and inconveniences other then it's a problem. -The hotel offered to relocate my family, kids to another room but couldn't guarantee if this would continue. It's clear hotel management will not insert themselves in anyway. Instead of making an attempt to resolve the situation they downplayed the issued. Rather than taking care of a internal issue they shuffle they're guests around to circle the problem when they should put a hammer to it. They should really look into the word hotel and it's meaning. As long as you don't need food, this is an ok place to stay. But if you're expecting food to be available, for example after 11am on a Sunday, definitely don't pick this place. So far we we been here for 36 hours and as far as I can tell real food has been available for about two of those. read more

Had a wonderful experience last night made by 2 different staff members. We were stranded after leaving a really crappy hotel at 3:30 in the morning. We called the 800 number to try and get help with a room and we were met with Nicole. Who really took her time to help us get a room at that late hour. Upon arrival to the hotel Simon was absolutely amazing and super hospitable. Between the 2 of them they saved our weekend. We will definitely return! read more

The hotel itself is gorgeous. Really pretty and well maintained. Oddly I was giving a handicapped room and a handicapped shower which was again odd. It's not the hotels fault but all night doors were slamming constantly. Also being on the ground floor I got the joy of listening to people chit chat outside my window all night. I was awake until 430am. Best part is at 702am they start trimming the hedges and I truly think I must be in some sort of hell. Staff was super friendly but now being exhausted I've lacked the ability to see the happy sides of this. The bed was comfortable since I was awake in it all night.. I can say super comfortable. I wish there was an option for a negative star because that's what this Crown Plaza deserves. I've been to a handful of Crown Plaza hotels across the country and this one was by far the worst service experienced ! To make a long story short, I'm 8 months pregnant arriving with my heavy makeup kit, lighting, and directors chair to do a client's makeup. I noticed they had blocked off the entrance to drive up to the lobby door so I asked the two workers at the barricade if they had a trolley for me to use to transport my things as I'm pregnant and can't carry my kit, etc far distances. They told me one, they didn't have any available trolleys (luggage carts) and two, that they couldn't let me passed the barricade even though they let two other cars in before me (they said it's because they were guests of the hotel). They proceeded to tell me that I would have to walk my things in by hand which was a ways distance from the main entrance not to mention walking the length of the hotel just To get to my client's room. told them I was unable to do so and begged them to make an exception for me. They got on their radios to ask their boss if it was okay and didn't get back to me for about 15 minutes which made me late for my client. I had to call the head corporation to get a hold of someone at the front desk who finally had them let me in AND miraculously provided a trolley for me. I will never support this location ! Absolutely horrific experience :( Their STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE, not an ounce of customer service. I was charged $20 for breakfast per day. They had no breakfast but only refunded $5 per day. Upon arrival the bathroom was dirty. I went downstairs but was told that they can only clean in 2 days because they're short-staffed. 2 days later, I ask them about having the bathroom cleaned, the woman at the desk claimed that she didn't have a note about it and accused me of lying. I've stayed at very many hotels. Nothing was ever as bad as this one. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ELSEWHERE. YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN SUCH AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom was also nice. Surprised for a luxury hotel that for a room for four people we were only given one bath towel. Also at 9:00am on the day of check out, housekeeping knocked on door to clean up room if we had checked out. The knocking woke me up and I found this upsetting. I was happily sleeping as check out wasn't until 11:00am. Lastly line to check out was long. Disappointed in housekeeping on both counts. Won't be returning. read more

Day trip to NY, reserved this hotel through hotwire.com. got a great rate by using them. Parking was in front, clerk at counter was very friendly and helpful except for the directions to the room. We got lost looking for our room because the numbers are seperated in an odd way. The room was very nice, shower no bath in bathroom, large king size bed, tv/cable, free wifi. The bed was socomfortable, after the long night put, we just sunk onto the bed and passed out. I didnt get the the complimentary breakfast the next day because of time but it looked nice. The layout of the place was very nice, they have a large fountain in the center of the floor, open restsurant.. and alot of comfy seating throughout to just sit and hang out. I made an event in the ball room. Fabulous service beautifully renovated they treated my guest with respect and followed NY guidelines and didn't Harass the guest for masks. Which I appreciate so much that they did not cook up their own rules and imposed it on other people. I will always recommend a place that uses common sense science to run their facility. read more

Average at best. Food options are awful! No room service and bar closes at 9pm. There is no place walking distance to get food either! Beds are very comfortable and the water pressure is good in the shower but that's about it. Staff are on autopilot but don't seem to want to be there.... read more

This hotel is designed to give you absolutely no privacy. We stayed here for three nights for a wedding and were shocked by the views from the rooms. The windows in the rooms overlooked the lobby which was pretty shocking and an unpleasant surprise for a lot of the folks in our block. One of the folks in our party had a room on the first floor that was adjacent to the restaurant. Apparently she got out of the shower on the first day and walked into the room and there was a dude just standing in the window staring into her room. I guess he was checking himself in the one way mirror and didn't realize there was a room behind there but it was an unpleasant surprise for her. She also said that it was incredibly noisy in the morning as everyone was eating breakfast. The showers in the bathroom also give you no privacy as there is no shower door. It's just a large sheet of glass and therefore made the entire bathroom floor wet whenever I showered. The staff was friendly for the most part but there was one guy who was kind of unpleasant and creepy as he told our group that we were no longer allowed to sit in some tables in the lobby because it was too late or something. My partner and I stayed here overnight and we enjoyed the room. The room is nice and modern and had some nice touches I'd never seen at other hotels - ie the small spray container that was chamomile scented I believe. Our room's window faced the lobby and there were no other windows facing the outdoors. This was a first for me but not something that was negative. Some things I didn't like: There are no USB outlets and the iHome dock is outdated, unless you still happen to use an iPhone 4. The toilet paper is in a weird location and very hard to get. Every time I tried unraveling paper, one sheet kept coming off which was pretty annoying. I ended up just taking the roll out of its place and placing it on the counter. The shower also is only half closed off, which I didn't like. The parking lot is not well lit and a bit confusing to maneuver in the dark. All in all I would stay here again. If I have the opportunity to stay here again, I will definitely be trying out the selections offered in their restaurant. read more

I used to stay here monthly. Unfortunately, I've decided I need to find a new regular hotel because I value my privacy and expect that "do not disturb" means people won't be entering my room. During stay in December, there was a large stain on the pillow and questionable hair, the sheets didn't look like they had been cleaned. The front desk person was very responsive, came up to give me keys to a different room, and review the issue herself. My stay in January, there was a large dried brown liquid in the shower and another questionable hair in an obvious location that would have been easy to clean up. I took a picture, went downstairs to show front desk person (a different one than usual). He offered a new room as the only resolution but didn't take much interest in looking at the picture, nor ask to confirm what I was showing, or really seem to care that much at all. Given my very late arrival time, I chose to clean it up myself and email the contact that typically leaves cards with my reservation. I always keep a do not disturb sign up on my door so imagine my surprise that this contact had a couple people enter my room without permission to see if the brown liquid was still there (obviously it wasn't) and then proceed to have housekeeping also go in and "refresh" my room. Absolutely not okay. I am absolutely not okay with people entering my room without permission or at least calling and providing a heads up when I have a do not disturb sign up. If they wanted to confirm the issues then that should have been done when I went downstairs to show the front desk. Not planning on staying here again. read more

This hotel is beautiful and every staff member was nice and accommodating. But it's extremely unfortunate that I feel the need to leave this review because of our experience with our wedding block here. We were getting married at a venue about 25 minutes away, and this was the recommended hotel for the venue. No doubt because the hotel is elegant and large enough to accommodate a large wedding block - we had about 80 rooms booked with the hotel. From the beginning - the coordinator at our venue told us that we MUST hire buses that are able to fit under an overpass that is on the route from the hotel to the venue. I can't even count how many times our coordinator told us that - and for that reason, I can't even fathom how many times we told the hotel that the buses that we are providing for the guests to travel to the hotel MUST be able to fit under the overpass. We pay for the buses, but the hotel hires the buses through a separate company. The response every time was "we don't even work with the company that has those big buses anymore." That made us feel great, because we figured there would be no problem wedding day. We were told that we have 4 "executive shuttles", and everything felt like it was going to go very smoothly. What happens on wedding day of course? One of the buses transporting guests is too big and does not fit under the overpass. They had to take an alternative route and the bus driver is completely lost. The guests are confused and upset because they think they are missing the ceremony, meanwhile everyone at the venue will not start the ceremony because there are approximately 50 guests missing on a bus somewhere that had still not showed up to the venue. I find this out before my ceremony because I have friends on the bus and I am upset and shocked that after we told the hotel NUMEROUS times that we needed the right size bus, they did not do that. We held up the ceremony 15 minutes that cut into our cocktail hour. IN ADDITION: they only sent 3 buses to the venue, not 4, when 2 weeks before the wedding we had decided to pay another couple hundred dollars for a fourth bus because the hotel had advised us, and my mom agreed, that the numbers were going to be tight. According to guests, they were cramming guests into seats and would not leave until all the seats were filled, even though we had plenty of room with *what should have been* 4 buses. It's a shame that this had to happen because the rooms and lobby are beautiful, the breakfast and after party that they gave us in a separate room were fantastic, and every staff member (including the staff members in charge of the wedding block) were very kind. But I'm still in shock as to how this happened, especially when we were told that the hotel does not even work with the company that sends the big buses anymore. There was clearly a huge lack of communication between the hotel and bus company for 2 major things to go wrong, when we were so clear from the beginning with what we needed. It was frankly very embarrassing for us when we had to tell the venue what happened, because they warned us so so many times. I would not recommend to have your wedding block at this hotel as this was such a big dent in an otherwise perfect day. read more

Stayed at this location overnight for a business function. Extremely easy to get to right off NYS Thruway. Staff was very friendly, the entire establishment was very clean. Plenty of parking for the guests. Food overall was good for hotel, salads were always fresh and they had a little area where you could purchase chips, water and vitamin water, but prices were a little inflated for those items. Bar is small and in the middle of hotel, they ran out of two different tap beers in one night. Queen size bed on room, desk and plenty of plugs for laptops, I believe you could also rent android boxes and apple boxes such as Amazon fire box or Roku. Room was very clean. The entire places looks recently updated. Very nice place to stay if you are in the area. read more

This was my second stay at the Crowne Plaza Suffern-Mahwah. We were definitely sufferin' and cryin' to my ma during our stay here. They didn't start off on the right foot by running out of soap the night we arrived. But we made do with shampoo until soap arrived the next morning. Things got worse from there. We specifically requested from the front desk that our room be cleaned (there was no "clean our room" sign available in the room), but they didn't clean when we got home that evening. The best we could do was get another set of towels. Front desk staff was pretty consistently indifferent and unapologetic. They saved the best for last. The fire alarm went off at 3:25 AM, and it was not a drill. There was apparently a fire in the kitchen that was contained, so they sent us back to our rooms pretty soon after we roused ourselves out of bed and hurriedly put some clothes on. Yet they were unable to turn off the strobe lights in our room. We called the front desk twice about this. The first time they said they were waiting for the fire chief to give the all clear. The next time they told us they were waiting for maintenance to turn off the strobe lights. We had to try to sleep with a bright strobe light blinking on and off every second for the rest of the night for the next five (5) hours. I tried to make the best of it with comic relief by doing my John Travolta imitation from Saturday Night Fever, but I never got back to sleep. In fairness, they did give us complimentary buffet breakfasts, but I was exhausted all day. My first visit was better, but I'd be wary of this place. read more

Since I didn't truly stay at the hotel I feel like I can't give it a "full" rating. But....I was here for 3 days this week for a training class for work. This hotel is newly redone and very modern looking inside. The staff was extremely friendly. It was very clean, bathrooms included. We were in one of their larger meeting rooms and Diego took very good care of us for 3 days. We had lunch in the restaurant part. I liked the fact that they had our name tags at each place setting so when bringing our food or drinks we were addressed by name, nice touch in my opinion. They first day I went with the French onion soup and BLT with guac. Delicious! The second day tried the house salad,which had a great champagne dressing on it and chicken parm which was average. On my 3rd day I repeated the 1st day. Lol! ThatBLT was just great and I had to have it again.The bacon had just the right amount of crisp! Need a place to stay in the Suffern area, I would suggest here (I heard the rooms were nice but can't confirm) Need a place to hold a meeting, try here! read more
