OVERWHELMING PAINT FUMES IN ROOM. This hotel is under renovation and they are having guests stay in rooms that are only partially renovated. These rooms should be out of order. I had to leave due to paint fumes. I couldn't bear it for more than a few moments. I tried to check out at the front desk after only 1 hour. They claimed they couldn't check me out and refused to refund my money for the night. I had to stay at another hotel for the night. When I contacting the general manager for a refund, my request was denied. Poor quality and poor customer service. Unacceptable practices for hospitality & management.

Very tired property that Needs updating Sign states they are in the process of remodeling over a 2 year period! In my opinion that extended period is unacceptable and should be shut down immediately as the furniture is in very bad condition. See my photo below. The shower head is restricted to the point that getting wet to remove shampoo is difficult. Had a fair breakfast however that use to be complementary as a diamond member. Was charged $25 for 2 people. For that price, should have gone to Elmers. Nasty. This hotel is not up to minimum Hilton standards. I can't recommend staying here at any price.

Update: Complained to Hilton, and after a long long conversation, I was finally offered Hilton points (which I never received). I finally got a refund through American Express, which cancelled the charge. Here are my photos of the awful hotel!

This hotel is under construction, and unfortunately, it shows in all the wrong ways. The elevators were out of service, and we were left to walk up multiple flights of stairs--past a half-demolished hallway that felt more like a construction zone than a hotel. When I asked the staff for support, the response felt dismissive. Offering complimentary water after that experience came off as more insulting than thoughtful. There were three of us traveling for business, staying in separate rooms, and we all felt the same. When I told the manager that two employees had directed me the wrong way--straight into the construction--she defended them, saying they wouldn't have known where I was going. But the construction was clearly limited to one side of the second floor. I genuinely felt unsafe and surprised there wasn't clearer signage to guide guests away from active construction zones. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Between the poor communication, unsafe conditions, and lackluster service, I wouldn't return--and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone traveling for business.

    Leaking fire sprinkler

Booked for a few day getaway with my kids. Found out after checking in on the app that they are undergoing renovations so there is plastic laid out on the carpet, paint everywhere with fumes, and tools scattered. While in bed I heard water leaking roughly around 11pm. Went to see where it was coming from and noticed the fire sprinkler leaking water all over. Called the front desk and had to wake my kids up and pack everything just to move up to the 3rd floor. The hotel said due to booking through a 3rd party there was nothing they could do for me. I highly recommend looking at other options

The previous worst places were the holiday inn by Los Angeles (Venice Beach); Peppermill at Centralia. This is in the running with the state of furniture. It is easy to cover this with fabric and it would go unnoticed. But ... It didn't. This is so different from ALL other Doubletree hotels. It needs to change its brand. Doubletree is synonymous with high quality - this was not.

I had a very good stay at this hotel. I checked-in fairly late in the evening, but the check-in process was seamless. My room was very clean and comfortable. I used the pool and hot tub amenities, both were clean and set at the perfect temperature. The hotel needs some minor updates, but overall a good stay.

I checked into this hotel and went to check out my room. The furniture was in terrible shape, so I returned to the lobby and asked for a replacement. The desk clerk said that all of the rooms were like that. I said that in that case I did not want to stay there. To my horror, she said that that was not possible. I complained that the pictures on their web site were much more appealing and I insisted that they cancel my booking. She pointed to a sign in small print on the counter which acknowledged that the quality of the rooms were not up to Hilton standards. I said that she should have brought that to my attention. She said that she was simply following management orders. So I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there was no manager in duty. I spoke with other guests who were all complaining of the same problem. Apparently the hotel cleaned the furniture with some solvent that stripped the leather surface. I can not believe that this hotel is part of Hilton, and I am shocked with the way this was handled. I left the hotel but the desk clerk refused to cancel the charges.

Probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The common areas were dirty and grimy, and the fridge was CAKED in dust as if it had never been cleaned (see photos). Even worse is the customer service. I was trying to take an afternoon nap but then some kind of drilling began on the roof (I was on the top floor). I called the front desk to ask how long this would continue and they lied about it stopping soon. Then I talked to the manager who said it didn't matter how loud it was or if it was directly over me because it wasn't "during quiet hours." They refused to move me to another room, so I demanded to that they cancel my second night so I could leave and go elsewhere. They again refused that. I contacted Hilton Corporate who rebooked me at a nearby hotel of another brand. When I arrived at that other hotel, I briefly mentioned my story and at the front desk they told me it was a common story - that the Doubletree is absolute trash and the people running it suck. I was shocked they'd be so straightforward about another Hilton brand but I guess that's just how bad it really is. YIKES.

We chose this hotel based on a location close to my wife's doctor appointment. After check-in, we took the elevator to the 3rd floor to our room. About 10 minutes later, we decided to go eat. The elevator was closed, so we took the stairs. On the next day, the elevator was working, and we left for the day. When we returned, we got in the elevator and made the ride to the 3rd floor. THEN, it quit working with us in it. After about 15 minutes, it returned back to the first floor, and the door opened. Fire truck was pulling up out front. We asked for some compensation for the incident. The front desk clerk told us that he could only give us breakfast vouchers. Well, it sounds ok, BUT the breakfast was a very typical continental breakfast that they charged $14 for. The room had a couch that's shredded.

This might have been my worst hotel stay ever. Staff was friendly, but that's where the positive portion of the experience ends. When I arrived, the front desk warned that the furniture was in bad shape. She also warned that all of the rooms are like that. Not really a big deal. They're renovating, so I get it. It was really bad though. The paint in the hallways and room haven't been completed. It did look like the bathroom had been remodeled, but I'm not sure. The float in the toilet stick, so it either wouldn't fill or just kept on running. The refrigerator in the room was loud when it cycled on. About as loud as an idling car. The budget price attracts families with children and the walls are thin, so be prepared for children screaming and running up and down the halls. We left the room about 10am the next morning and were out for the day. When we returned around 7, the room had not been cleaned. We headed down to the bar and had a few drinks. The bartender was friendly, but spent most of the time complaining about the management of the hotel. We returned to our room around 10pm. Still not cleaned. We left the next morning around 9am. We noticed a brigade of cleaning crews in the hallway and assumed they just clean every other day. We stopped at the front desk to ask that they make sure our room would be cleaned. They assured us that all rooms were being cleaned that day. We returned around 7pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned. We stopped by the front desk to ask about it and they said they would send someone up. We hung out in the bar for a couple of hours listening to how bad it is to work there. We returned to our room around 9. Still not clean. We had breakfast at the hotel around 9:30. They serve until 10, but had started to break everything down already. There were no plates or cups. There was no more waffle batter. Everything else was running low and had been sitting for a while. We checked out to go to another hotel.

The furniture is in terrible shape. The staff told us at check in that we can request blankets to put over the sofas that are peeling! What a joke! Do better Hilton!'

We were greeted nicely when we arrived, however our room was not ready for check in. Apparently they were having a bit of remodeling going on in the hotel. The property was going through a full remodel the last time we stayed. Our room had not been one of the remodeled rooms, having a fireplace, a dining table, and seating that was comfortable. A member of the team who dined with us was easily accommodated at the table. When we arrived we were a bit disappointed. We were scheduled for a 4:00 PM arrival and check in. We stopped for dinner first, arriving at about 5:00 PM and our room was not ready. We went back to our car and waited until about 5:25 when we were notified our room was ready. We were expecting the same comfortable feeling as our last visit. The room was now very modern, almost cold feeling. Don't get me wrong, the room was comfortable except a high back chair was no longer in the room, a modern "L" shaped sofa bed with a low back was in the living room. The room lacked any of the character we have come to expect. I commented to staff whom I met on our last stay, and they privately agreed. There was no longer a table in the suite. Instead there was a "waterfall" bar height "table." The suite was as shown in the photos with the fireplace having been removed during the remodel. The breakfast buffet was above average with different offerings every morning to go along with the eggs. The breakfast area still had the lodge feeling that we have come to expect. It was clean and very comfortable. Coffee was strong and hot, so I was happy. The property was well maintained, except the garbage outside of our room was not emptied in the four days/three nights we were there. The room did not meet our expectations as they were based on our last stay. Things change, I understand that. Had the room been ready on time and the garbage been emptied from immediately outside of our room this would have been a much better review.

This includes a large space on Floor 2 where all floors look down on and includes comfortable seating areas, communal desks with plugs, etc. However on both of my visits this space was either unavailable or overrun by event groups. For dining, the 13 Coins restaurant ($$ pub), El Gaucho ($$$$ steak), top floor bar ($$$), and coffee shop ($) are connected to hotel. And within two blocks are at least 10 restaurants. Room service is also available. Needs Improvement Hotel fees. Although I didn't notice on my first visit, the hotel's taxes and fees are high, most notably a sneaky daily $29 called "Destination Fee." Or as I call it "the Spirit Airlines approach." Can't you just build into the room price? I didn't see this when I booked but guessing there's some fine print somewhere. It also explains the "complimentary" drink coupons at check-in. So here's how my $423.30/night broke out, $354.35 Accommodation $23.03 State Sales Tax (6.5%) $8.15 City Tax (2.3%) $7.09 County Lodging Tax (2%) $2.00 Tourism Fee $29.00 Destination Fee Hotel noise. The hotel has both outside and inside noise. Outside it's cars, motorcycles, tugboats, and people up and down the main street out front and river. Cue the earplugs and sound machine. Higher floors facing the river are better. Weekdays - and I experienced this on both visits - it's the convention they are hosting. And they host a lot of groups. People gather in the main atrium space where all rooms are exposed. My room was on the second floor where I had people gathered 15 ft from my door chatting early in the morning and socializing into the evening. I recommend avoiding floor 2 and going with floor 4+. Space availability. On both visits the atrium space was reserved to groups and unusable to guests. So for portions of my visit I had to stay in my room to work and relax vs use the space as advertised when I booked. Call ahead to find out what groups may be booked. All in all, I had pleasant stays and would return at $199/night or midweek to avoid noise. But I can't justify $400+ again.

Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1991. Holiday Inn, the parent company, has been around since 1952. We had such a good experience (again) with your brand that you might be our go to stay in the future.

If there was a negative they would get it…read more I arrived at 2pm and saw an elderly man at the counter asking to check in. Abby, the lady at the front desk stated he could check in early if he left a review. The gentleman did not know how so Abby took his phone and proceeded to make a review with his phone. When I got to the counter she informed me my room was ready and I needed to make a review to check in early (check in is at 4 and it was a little after 2). I said fine and she took my license, debit card and wrote me out a parking pass. She then asked to see the review. I stated I would do it in my room so I could leave a review on the room. She then looked at me and said my room was no longer ready. Abby said I could come back at 4. When I asked how it was ready a minute ago when she took my personal info and gave me a parking pass she simple said condescendingly that housekeeping needs to look at it. She told me I could wait in the lobby if I wanted too. After waiting 45 min I asked her if I could get checked in now and she dismissively said no and walked away. Needless to say I won't be staying here. I went down the road to Hilton and they are AMAZING! So welcoming, kind and professional. They got me a room right away and because of my horrible experience at Comfort they gave me some freebies. That is what hospitality is all about. If you are thinking of staying here DON'T! Go down a few blocks to the Hilton.

I walked in the lobby to check if they had a room available for the same night. I totally…read moreunderstand if they didn't, as I had no reservation. What i didn't expect was the extremely rude gal at the front desk. After a significant wait, I was disappointed by the conduct of the gal, her name was Abby. Her tone was unprofessional and condescending, which made for a very unpleasant experience. She was telling other customers who had reservation they could check in early if they would leave a "great review ". This type of behavior is inappropriate. If there was a room available (which there was) NO ONE deserves to be treated like she treated me. I believe it is important to give this review, to ensure the quality of service remains at an appropriate standard. I went to a different hotel and was greeted with warmth, welcoming. Go somewhere else, until they fix the front desk (Abby).
