Wow this hotel is a gem! The service here is absolutely incredible! This hotel does charge for parking and it is $25. The parking is very easy and they have two lots. They have one that connects directly to the main front entrance and is on the second floor of the hotel. Then they have one behind the hotel. Now this hotel is a 15 minute walk to the university and 15 minutes to the capital. Now if you don't want to walk they offer a free shuttle up to two miles in distance. This allows you to leave your car and enjoy the shuttle. It is such a fantastic experience being able to text the hotel as I'm paying my dinner bill. Then I go to exit the restaurant and I see the shuttle ready for me. Overall if you are looking for a hotel in a nice area, a complimentary shuttle, easy parking, and truly some of the nicest staff I've ever encountered then stay here. I look forward to staying here every trip to Madison. read more

If I could split this review into parts, I'd be all over the board. Front desk staff: 5 stars. Each team member was pleasant, professional and helpful. Room: 5 stars. Very nice room, plenty of space, all good. Fitness center: 4 stars. Fairly good selection of equipment, open 24 hours and good size towels. All machines I tried worked. Downside: It's in a really odd location. Restaurant: 2 stars. I had an early departure so I made sure to get up early, workout and then hit breakfast as it opened so I could place my order, eat in my room as I started packing, etc. I was the only customer when they opened, placed my order quickly and waited 20 -- 20! -- minutes for them to make a simple omelette. No one bothered to come out to let me know what the delay was or any sort of follow up. Additionally, I was forced to pay an upcharge for gluten free bread. That's a first for me at any Hilton property. At least the omelette was tasty but the poor service left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I absolutely love this hotel and have been coming regularly since 2016! Shout out to servers Liz (big time) and Sarah and Katie at the front! Always clean, easy parking and a great location. Really comfortable beds too. The restaurant is much better than your standard hotel. I can't find Corned Beef Hash and eggs made better anywhere else than here - it's traditional and outstanding!! We stayed here on a Wednesday night after attending a concert. The service stood out as particularly good. Upon check-in, we got the warm cookies and were told there would be water bottles in the refrigerator in our room. One of the staff behind the desk offered to meet us at the entrance from the parking area with a roller cart so we could take our things to the room. This was a nice touch. The room worked out well for our needs. The complementary shuttle service saved us a lot of money. They drove us to the tornado room and picked us up after dinner. They also drove us to the Sylvee for the concert. They would have picked us up from the concert, but it was quite late. read more

Hotel property in close proximity to University of Wisconsin. I arrived confused as I pulled into the first parking lot that I saw but was the back parking lot. I arrived to the hotel hungry having not eaten a proper meal due to tight airline connections. The hotel restaurant was closed at 3 pm. Fortunately I received a warm chocolate chip cookie upon check-in. I arrived to my room and was super happy that it was nice and cold. The room was nice and was what I wanted, a single king bed on a high floor. The room had a refrigerator, a coffee maker, a microwave and a safe. The work table was perfect and even the TV screen was good size. The only issue that I had with the room was that the shower water would cycle between hot and cold. The hotel restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. The hotel is not within walking distance to the Capitol area. Fortunately, the hotel does have shuttle service to the Capitol area and the shuttle service ends at 10 pm. I was able to use it twice and it was a nice service. The front desk staff, restaurant staff and shuttle staff were all courteous. Four stars! read more

We stayed for a weekend so we could go to the American Girl sale and festivities. Nice room, plenty of space for a family of four and a bunch of AG dolls. Staff was very nice and helpful and the restaurant has what my son deemed "the best cheese curds of the whole trip." read more

Fantastic hotel! Very clean throughout the hotel and our room. Every employee we interacted with was very friendly. Complimentary shuttle to drive you anywhere 2 miles. Book in advance at the front desk to guarantee availability. Good breakfast buffet with a wide variety of options. The bed was super comfy and the room was spacious. We were able to check in early because the room was available which was awesome. Our friends didn't have issues with this either. I like that they didn't have strict policies on this and if the room was available they would let you check in. Hotel parking is $18 per day. You can go in and out. It's very easy to use. When you first arrive just park in front of the hotel and check in first then use the parking deck after that. Only negative was the shower set up doesn't make sense. You can't turn it on without getting wet. We booked this hotel as part of a wedding block. Highly recommend as well if you need to offer a hotel in a wedding block. All of our friends were very happy here. read more

They provided free drink coupon that I used at their coffee bar. Of course free cookies!! My review is simply comparing this Hilton DoubleTree to other Hilton properties. Pros. The location is great. The service was great. That's it. Cons. At the price point (~$300/night) they were charging the hotel itself needs to be substantially nicer. They state the hotel was recently remodeled. Perhaps that is true. If so, it was poorly done. The rooms are very small compared to other DoubleTrees and the finishings fell far short of the Hilton brand. In reality, they probably need to tear it down and build a new one. The Hampton Inn right down the road is substantially nicer and cheaper. Go there or elsewhere. read more

We used the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Madison as our home-base for guests at our daughter's June 2024 wedding. The excellent staff, services, and accommodations contributed to making the wedding weekend as stress-free and relaxing as possible. We had nothing less than a fantastic experience from the moment we pulled into the circle drive straight through to check-out. Joey Moser, Sales Manager, was a tremendous help in setting up the block of guest rooms, ensuring guests received welcome bags, arranging the late night shuttle service, and planning a catered Sunday breakfast for guests. He also took the time to help a guest sort out a reservation made through a third-party scam site and arrange for gluten free and dairy free options for the catered breakfast. Check-in was easy. Very helpful personnel saw our overloaded car and offered to meet us at the 2nd floor parking entrance with a cart after check-in. He then proceeded to help unload the car and call for help and another cart! Both men went back and forth to our 3rd floor room several times to help unload all of our stuff. It was great to get text messages from the front desk asking how our stay was going and if we needed anything. I was able to get answers to any questions quickly via text for our entire stay. The rooms we booked were clean, spacious, comfortable - absolutely nothing to complain about! Housekeeping personnel were professional, friendly and thorough. We used suites as ready rooms for the bride/bridesmaids and groom/groomsmen. The suites were fantastic! There was plenty of room to absorb all of the wedding day debris and busyness. Every single meal and beverage ordered through room service was accurate and delicious. Meals were delivered right on time. All personnel were professional and friendly. Food quality and set-up for the catered breakfast was fantastic. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. The hot food was HOT, the cold food was COLD - all was delicious and presented very well. We did not get a chance to use the DoubleTree shuttle or enjoy the bistro bar. However, several wedding guests did, and we have heard nothing but positive feedback about these services. Guests found the shuttle to/from the airport and to other destinations in town to be easy to use and quick. We had a fantastic experience from start to finish at the DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Madison. We absolutely loved this hotel. The location was excellent and the customer service was perfect. When we were about an hour away, we contacted the front desk to see if there was a way we could check in early. Kelsey was very accommodating and very friendly. She explained our options and let us know there was a room available and we were able to get there and check in without any problems. Kelsey is a rockstar. While there we went down to the bar and had a drink and Ellen was also friendly and a joy to talk to about anything and everything. Everyone we came in contact with at this property was very friendly. The room was wonderful especially the shower! My first choice for hotels are always Hilton. I've been a Diamond member for a little while, now and this was a very nice Hilton hotel. At all DoubleTrees, you are offered the warm chocolate chip cookie at check in and they are delicious! I haven't normally gone to the restaurants in hotels but this time I ordered breakfast from there. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, nothing special but definitely better quality that you could get from other places. The second day I got their breakfast burrito. It was pretty good, but I preferred their breakfast sandwich. They also have a very good selection of whiskey. This was the first time I saw a 12 year Pappy Van Winkle and was able to try that out, as well as Jack Daniels Gold another day. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. My room was on the top floor with a pretty good view of the Capitol. The staff at the front desk and the bar were all very nice and professional. read more

I wanted to stay at a really nice hotel for a weekend getaway to Madison, Wisconsin. I am very pleased with the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel. Check in was fast and the front desk attendant made special note that we can come down anytime to request more warm cookies. We stayed on the top level (7) and had a beautiful view toward the Capitol building. The floor was quiet and was cleaned in the morning for us. The fitness room was nice, although to be honest, I didn't actually work out on the equipment. I just checked out the room. : ) There is a casual restaurant in the hotel so if you don't feel like going out, you can still get a great meal. They also serve Starbucks at this restaurant. We appreciated the free parking in the connected garage. We took advantage of the free within 2 mile radius shuttle several times. read more

I've stayed here a couple times for work now and it is a very nice hotel. There is a parking ramp specifically for guest that is key card access only, with some spots covered, some open air. Luckily, I haven't had to worry about any inclement weather while staying yet, so any spot works for me. The rooms are very nice and the beds are comfortable. For the most part, there really isn't any issues with noise that I've heard. I haven't eaten at the restaurant but we've used the bar for a meeting place to discuss the day's work numerous times and the bartenders are great. The front desk staff has always been polite and courteous and happy to help with whatever. I'd recommend staying here if you've got the option. read more

Best thing I can say about the Doubletree that is downtown Madison, is it's location. The room wasn't particularly clean. Remote control was hidden. And during the day the hotel workers sure made a lot of noise. The thing that bothered me the most is they took $100 deposit on my credit card For incidentals. And then two days later (after I checked out) I got the hundred dollars back. If they do that to every customer their banking a lot of extra money On the interest. Why don't they just debit my credit card when I check out and when they realize if I used any incidentals? I consider this a shady business practice. read more

Then you waited for me to notice that you had returned instead of interrupting my conversation. Housekeeping - not only will you clean daily, a service not common, but you brought me a specialty item at my request. Not many places follow through, and you let me start my day safely and in less pain. Maintenance (tall, beard, Black) I met in the elevator - your comment about the strong hotel leadership and employee standards really made me feel good about supporting your hotel. Very few people choose to speak highly of their employer as well as their teammates. Bar & Restaurant - not only do you carry the widest selection of bourbon I have seen, you paid close attention to a specific request regarding the preparation of my breakfast. Disability Features - close, safe off-street disabled parking. The room was plenty big enough to accommodate a walker/wheelchair for mild to moderate mobility issues. Otherwise ask for a specialty room. Rooms have walk-in showers instead of tubs. Great water pressure! Tamper resistant toiletries. Convenient elevator location. Mini fridge was 50% larger than normal. Conclusion - if you travel a lot, you know. Service is a lost art. I felt like I was back in the 1970's when a hotel cared for and provided a special service ethic for their guests as a way to make a profit. I will go out of my way to stay here again. read more

By far the best lodging option if you are visiting UW Madison. Situated on the edge of campus, it is very convenient for any on campus meetings. Very friendly, helpful staff, with clean comfortable rooms. My room had a fridge and microwave. I consider these essentials now that GrubHub and Eat24 are my main dinner mechanisms when solo and traveling for work. Ideal and perfect location for university and walkable to the downtown area. Staff and cleaning people are super nice, showers are great, modern, marble tops, bed is very super comfortable we asked them what brand it was. Need to badge in for free parking and the garage has protection from the elements and the sun. They gave cookies and a musketeer bar and two small water bottles complimentary. But, room smells musty, has an old outdated ambience, carpeting feels overused, slightly moist at times, and really wish that wasn't there and ripped out. I wore slippers most of the time. Air conditioner makes weird sounds occasionally. Popcorn ceilings, old sad looking drapes, rooms are cozy, a little awkward that they have a door that leads to the next room where you can hear conversations next door, so I had to not talk so loud, and you could hear the television of the people next door and what they are watching. That would be a bonus if you had a family or friends but not with strangers. Their hotel restaurant bistro 525 was not great tasting, the food was processed, overpriced, cold, and just flavorless small portions, I had to go somewhere else to buy better food. But, they do offer starbucks coffee. There's an ice machine but bring your own drinks, water, soda as there is no other way to get water except via the sink or you can purchase it. Mini fridge also did not really make things that cold but was workable and had microwave. Tv had great movies and free hbo channels. They took good covid precautions including not using the room for 48 hours before the next person checks in, cleaning remotes (which were labeled as clean), and placing a blue seal on door to show room was cleaned. Post review- amazing hands down customer service. They gave us a discount even when we were not expecting or asking for it. They were open to our feedback and were very kind and caring. They were following up on our musty advice, maybe it was just our room that had that. read more

Stayed here for business in December 2018, and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is located a short walk to the Capital, UW, lots of shops and restaurants. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and had a nice lobby. There is no resort or parking fee. The resort has the Badgerland restaurant and bar, business center with 2 computers and printer, a mini-mart, basic Precor gym, pool and jacuzzi. There is a free shuttle that will take you to the airport and anywhere within 2 miles from the hotel. The room was medium in size with a frig, microwave, safe, iron/board, desk and chairs, and a lounge chair. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were probably the best I've ever slept on. I wanted to take them home with me! The room was clean, and well cared for. The bathroom was small, all in one, with a shower only. The is a great hotel for business or if you want to spend some time near the Capital area. I would stay here again next time I'm in Madison. read more

I have traveled since I was a less than 8 years old and this has been the best experience I have ever had with a hotel. We arrived late (after 2am) in Madison, WI, and had been turned down by a 5-star hotel due to insufficient space. We ventured to this location and scored a comfortable, well tended room in a matter of minutes. As many reviews have stated, there are warm cookies given while you wait for paperwork to be finalized. In contrast to the chilling Wisconsin winter, Taylor (the front desk worker) was quite warm and welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. She even left a handwritten note and a parting gift which the manager in charge gave to us as we checked out. This is truly what set this location out from the countless hotels I have experienced and why I will be coming back when I am in Wisconsin again. read more

Hotels are a place for you to stay when you're away from home. Of course there are other alternative options, but hotels are the nicest to stay in. Aside from the simulated hospitality and warm welcomes, it they even gift you a scrumptious warm chocolate chip cookie. I love you Double Tree!   Nestled roughly less than a mile from the Capitol building, it's quite ideal actually. Not too busy, and not too far from the action either. A walk around the outside premises foretells what the neighborhood will be after a year or two due to all the new development.   This hotel is clean, it's pretty and it's updated. The lobby has a fresh and open feel. It has elevators to take you to all the other floors where your rooms are located. There's beds in the room, a tv, a bathroom, a desk, they even have decorations on the walls...   that's amazing!!! Their fitness center is really nice and complete. It has cardiovascular equipments, big giant bouncy balls, weights and wall full of mirrors to watch yourself flex while lifting heavy stuff.   The pool area was a bit in an odd spot, it's situated by the rear parking structure, so you would have to use the stairs to get there. It's a bit out of the way, BUT it's a good thing since this deters some people from going, so you end up with the pool mostly all to yourself.   If there is nothing good going on outside, your hotel is a place for refuge and solitude. That's when the amenities come in handy. But if you're in a happening spot like here in Madison, a hotel is pretty much a place for you to put your head down. My HOJO where did you go??? Alright, the location is THE BEST for any returning UW Alumn...it is right accross the street from the old apartment and just like being a student again. It's right by the Gritty and a hop, skip, and a jump from State. Not much has changed since Doubletree took over the HOJO. The Badgerland grill, pool, and spa are all there. There are the same tokens for the parking ramp and seems like many of the friendly staff are still there. The rooms seem the same too. Some nice features include the full line of Neutragina products in the bathroom and the loaner umbrellas for the occasional thunder storm. The downside: Doubletree = Double Price The hotel costs twice what it did when it was a HOJO and a hot cookie does not make up the difference. read more

They were very nice about opening the back service gate so we could park easily! Staff was very friendly. The place was very clean. We were able to walk to many interesting places easily. I stayed here twice this month as my daughter goes to Wisco. I have been very impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of this hotel. From the exterior, the building looks "meh", but the inside is modernly decorated, tasteful. The young women at the front desk that l dealt with were very personable and give everyone a warm chocolate chip cookie upon check-in. Such a nice surprise and l DO love me some baked goods! Bed was super comfy, soft enough, yet firm enough. Like Goldilocks, it was "just right." Shower was clean, but the shower was narrow. Literally the only criticism l have. I fit fine, but my elbows touched each side of the stand up shower when shampooing my hair. Larger people/men might find it cramped. I was equally surprised of their nice fitness center. All new looking equipment, treds, ellipticals, TRX (or whatever that "bowflex" looking thing is called.) It was on the street level, but one whole wall were windows, overlooking a fenced in courtyard. Then l ordered the BLT Wrap and fries from their menu. Again, so surprised at the quality of their food. Fries were super hot and perfectly crispy. The wrap was actually wrapped to stay shut at one end so l did not lose any of the B, L or T from the bottom end of it. They have a Starbucks on site as well. For breakfast l had their Egg sandwich and again, great temperature. Potatoes were also super crispy and hot. l usually assume that style of potato will be soggy or under cooked, but they were not. When we checked out, they gave me 2 more cookies for my trip back to Michigan. Great value, l would definitely stay there again and l HIGHLY recommend to others. read more

I would give them 10 stars if I could. Someone from this hotel reached out to me two days before check-in (through Hilton app) to ask me for my needs. I asked for the couches to be turned into beds. When we flew in, my younger one unexpectedly developed a high fever, so I tried to check in very early (like, before noon), instead of doing the activities we had planned for the day. The hotel accommodated us right away (had our room ready in like, 2 minutes), and to my complete shock, the beds were already completely set up for us. They provided us with lots of water and I was able to get her comfortable in no time. Every time I needed anything, I could message the hotel front desk and someone would answer me within minutes. Breakfast was great and since we are gold members, we had credits to use towards it, which made it free. Our room was so clean and spacious, and the location is awesome. This hotel was the best part of Madison for us. read more

Stayed here due to family member being admitted to SSM Hospital ICU (all from OOT), and during the pandemic. Staff excellent. Room comfy for three adults. Loved the shower (no tub), beds on the firmer side, but still comfortable. Two chairs and an ottoman allowed for game playing and dining. My only complaint is that the room had a musty smell that I only noticed when trying to fall asleep. Did not use most amenities due to Covid, but would certainly stay here again if we come back to Madison and need to be on this side of town. read more

Our room was a nice size and since we are Hilton Honors members we got a couple of nice compliments like bottles of water and kettle corn. I would highly recommend joining the HH program. It's a DoubleTree Hotel, so you get free, warm cookies at check-in. Score to that! Other than that, the location being so close to State Street (about .3 miles) and having a warm indoor pool, it was just standard. I didn't find the hotel to be particularly amazing in any other way. Was the bed comfy? Sure. The room spacious? Yeah. The bathroom clean? Yup. But nothing stood out as especially better than a Holiday Inn. And the construction with the hammering at 8 a.m.... was less than welcomed. I guess they have to do construction at some point... but of course it had to happen while we were there with our 1-year old for the night! We'd stay there again, but wouldn't hesitate to consider our other options. Parking: must pay, but it's upstairs and many of the spots are covered... so that's a nice touch. read more

This is an older hotel, but it fit my needs better than the Hampton, one block away. Rooms are large, but of an older design. Service was young and inexperienced, but they are trained well and do okay within their limitations. At the Hampton,. service was robotic and the Hampton did not honor my Gold membership. The Doubletree acknowledged my Gold membership and awarded me free breakfasts and cocktails. The Doubletree also has free parking while the Hampton charges per day. In addition, the Hampton has the bathroom sink in the sleeping quarters, and that is a deal breaker for me. Thus, when in Madison, I am a Doubletree man! read more
