This location is right off the highway and is very close to almost everything so location was 100%! We checked in around 2:30pm and Jaween was seriously the best person to greet us and check us in. He even offered us free cookies with a great personality. I hope that this hotel never loses him because he was such a pleasure. The King suite option was nice and very roomy. Bed was very comfortable and the view was of the highway but you didn't hear anything from the outside at all! With that said, you could hear your neighbors talking and what they were watching, lol. Cleanliness can definitely be worked on! There were stains on our cabinet doors to the microwave and fridge. There were stains on the walls and paintings. It made me question everything else that we couldn't see! Shower water temperature was not hot at all! It was in between lukewarm and hot, which is not comfortable at all! This is the first hotel that I've had this experience with because the water is either really hot or really cold but this place was a big miss with that. Other than that, it felt safe and I enjoyed my stay. If it wasn't for those two major things, it wound easily been a 5/5 experience. I would stay again. read more

It's definitely not in the twin cities and it was pretty empty when I was here so I had to wait for a while to check in. We stayed or well.. attempted to stay here for an event on Saturday November 5th. We arrived at 6pm to check in and I could feel right away there was an issue when the woman was looking up my reservation and couldn't not find it. She then apologized and said she had no rooms available for us but she maybe able to get us into another hotel they have. We were not intrested in being relocated since the event was on site. The front desk lady then stayed that it's been happening for a while now. You would think that if third party vebders were booking people and the reservations were not going through that they would tell them to stop. Well we left the place for our event thar we also had issues at. About 9pm ish I received a call finally from the hotel letting us know that the hotel was over booked. I was like check in was at 2pm and now your calling me.. I'm not sure what type of Operations they are running but I always have an issue with hilton properties. read more

Stayed here for five days in July/August for a wild baseball road trip. It's a nice hotel, mainly caters to business travelers at 3M but pleasure travelers as well. Rooms are spacious and clean and have extremely comfy beds and nice hot showers. And the delicious Doubletree cookies. Heidi took care of getting me checked in early because of when my flight came in, going out of her way to do so, I really appreciated that. And the restaurant breakfast was good, eggs were good, french toast/waffles/pancakes alternated by day and were all good. And coffee was good. In the room you may occasionally hear people coming by or the elevator ding and housekeeping seems to come pretty early in the morning for checked out rooms, at least by tourist standards (I suppose if you're a business traveler it's different) but you're in a hotel so there will of course be occasional moderate noise, what do you expect really? Nothing too outrageous, not at all. Only downside is it's far from most of St. Paul, but it's a safe neighborhood and you avoid the premium price for staying closer to downtown, plus it's probably quieter. read more

This was my 1st time staying at this property. Overall I would have to say that while this property is a bit aged, my stay was outstand. What sealed the deal for me was how friendly all the staff was for my entire stay. From the Front Desk to the staff at the partially open bar/restaurant, I could not have ask for anything more. As a HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member, my level of expectations are very high, so while this property is clearly not a 5 resort, the staff more than make up for any lacking. My concern however is clearly this property has yet to recover from COVID. Clearly this property is way understaffed in all areas. Housekeeping is only by request a day before, the restaurant is not fully open and a few other areas as well. This being said, I will clearly be staying here again traveling on business and hopefully the staffing challenges will be overcome. read more

I was pretty happy with my recent 3-night stay at the DoubleTree. The location leaves something to be desired - you are not able to walk to any restaurants, bars, shops, etc, however this is right off I-94 so whether you want to get to downtown St. Paul or Minneapolis it is very easy. The hotel itself is updated, clean and offered friendly staff. The rooms were large, conveniently laid out and I found the beds and pillows to be very comfortable. Soundproofing, along with what seems like nearly all other hotels I stay in, was poor. I could hear the person next to me opening their blinds and my co-worker commented she heard someone sneeze in the room next to her.... read more

Well I've stayed in a lot of hotels & I must say this is one of the worst places I've ever stayed ...we experienced & apt fire where we lost everything & my insurance put us up here for 60 days & that was the saddest 60 days of my 54 years on this earth , are 1st night was gd we had a nice room & the next day & every day after that was nothing but hell ..to start they took 247.00 off my card at 2:30am & when I confronted them they said that they didn't know how it happened, they wouldn't give me a receipt for the money they stole from & after arguing with the staff for over an hour they looked at an said no English & then told me if I didn't like it I could leave to this day I still never got my money back ,now the smell of pot was on just about on every floor in fact they had to move a girl's soccer team from the 3rd floor to the 4th floor because of the smell ... The bar & room service are only open for 5 hours a day from 5 To 10 any other times you're on your own without any room service at all ,the staff are the worst I've ever seen if there's a problem they tell u it's a different staff member that isn't here today and again if u say anything the response from staff is you can check out if u don't like it here ...sad sad day for the Hilton family what a let down after losing everything we had in a fire one last thing run & keep running as far away from this hotel as u can ....I give them a -- 5 ***** stay at your own risk & watch your credit card. read more

My friend and I stayed here while in town for the Pearl Jam concert on 9/2. Our check in went smoothly and the lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. We booked our shuttle to the Xcel Energy Center no problem. Went to the concert and had to wait a bit to get back with only one shuttle running. Not the end of the world, as it was obvious they were short staffed. The next day it was over 100 degrees outside and the air conditioning unit started to rattle. We called to the front desk to make them aware of the issue. I was pretty much told that we could switch rooms, but it will probably be the same situation. We decided to stay in the room and it was like the air conditioner couldn't keep up. I turned the thermostat down to 64 had the curtains shut and it was still almost 80 in there. I was told there was no maintenance on staff. With that kind of heat forecasted it would have been smart to at least have someone on call. Thank goodness for the pool. I am sensitive to heat and the pool was perfect. I stayed down there for at least a couple hours, as I didn't want to be in the hot room. Also the water would not go down in the shower. On a positive note the restaurant was excellent! Our waitress was very friendly and suggested different options. Our food was amazing! read more

I've stayed here at least 3x now and the last time we stayed here was over the weekend. I was placed on the 3rd floor in the last room of the hall. As a Hilton Honors member with a family member who works for the Hilton Hotel chains, it was disappointing to be placed in a room where the AC/Heat didn't work and the hall way reeked of marijuana. I was amazed at how ghetto this place became. On the first day we were here, a kid was on the elevator pushing all the floors and making it super inconvenient for us to get to the lobby. I was super heated and did eventually say something to the service desk members. While on our stay, there was only one elevator working (that took forever) and the pool was closed. On top of that-- I was trying to sleep in and even did a late check out before my trip back home and woke up at 9am to a woman on the phone (sounded like the housekeeper) just screaming and cussing at her kid on the phone. I had to turn on the TV just so I didn't have to hear her yelling. Now-- Do I believe I should have been charged for all the annoying things I had to deal with? Of course not, but I'm not a KAREN so I just let it be. Probably won't stay here again when I'm in town visiting friends and family. Not worth the hassle. I'll pay more to have my peace and quiet. read more

The management was incredible, my coworker and I showed up in our work truck and had parked it in the front lot in the corner, security almost immediately came up to us and had told us there was some crime in this area and that they would be able to watch the truck 24/7 if we were to park it in the back so they can see it from the front desk. Not an awful option if you're looking for a hotel on the edge of the cities. It seems a lot of corners were cut during this hotels refresh. It's an old hotel. Evident by the popcorn ceiling texture which somehow survived the massive modern overhaul. As seen with a lot of the Double Tree remodels, the bulk of money appears to have been spent on the lobby. The rooms are updated but not well. A lot of paint on top of old paint and mix of old fixtures with new. The HVAC appears to be original as well which always seems to me like an obvious place for improvement. The hotel itself is not in a great area. There are not any restaurants or stores within walking distance. Really the only thing this hotel has going is easy access to I94 on the east side of St Paul. read more

I'd like to give this place 5 stars because it's a nice hotel, clean, very nice rooms, with very nice employees (at the desk and the bar), with a regular shuttle running to the Excel Energy Center, convenient parking, good location, etc. HOWEVER, it REEKS of marijuana. We were booked in a room on third floor but it reeked terribly of marijuana. And the whole level REEKED of marijuana and cigarettes (despite it supposedly being non-smoking). They were kind enough to switch us to 4th floor at the far end of the hall and that room didn't stink. However, the hall on that floor and pretty much all of the halls on all of the floors, as well as in the elevators, stunk of marijuana. I can't honestly say that I'd stay there again, despite everything else being great. read more

I stayed overnight for a concert at the Xcel and was pleasantly surprised and would stay here again. Bag in my room with a greeting addressed to me containing chocolate chip cookies and 2 bottles of water. Utilized the shuttle to and from the concert with a very capable and friendly driver. Room was great clean and welcoming. Ability to choose my room with the use of the app is nice. I was very happy with my choice. read more

I understand the circumstances.....(aka.. DOT DOT DOT) no customer service what-so-EVERR! I went out to smoke once I finally put my kid down and left her dad to relax and had a SIMPLE question about check out and breakfast and of course I wait forever after the longest check-in, then I chose to give up and called not one.. not two.. not THREE, BUT FOUR TIMES! Stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. The staff is wonderful, the front desk manager is always there to greet you with a smile. Avery she works at night she is there with a smile and is willing to help with anything asked of her. The beds were comfy and our room was clean. The location of the hotel was great for every one of our needs. The staff here is amazing and we will be visiting again with our next trip to minnesota. My girlfriend and I have stayed here multiple times in the past few months. This last visit wasn't good as the previous ones. Tammy at the front desk was rude over the phone then in person stated these rooms are normally $200 plus dollars a night I don't understand how your getting them at this price with an attitude as we were paying. She came off as we should be paying more money something isn't right. Next We went to have breakfast and Kim a employee from the kitchen argued with us about our room not including breakfast, goes and checks and returns and agreed it did. Then charged me $14 for the way I wanted my omelette cooked. Everything I asked for was extra money EVERYTHING! Cheese was extra sour cream was extra mushrooms was extra spinach was extra ect. After we ate we had food still on our plate and asked for two to go boxes and she asked for what why do we need them? Because I just paid $14 for my breakfast I didn't finish. I left and returned about five minutes later after dropping my girlfriend off to work and she literally followed me inside the breakfast area as I was getting more apple juice and said sir what are you doing can I help you. As if she didn't see me just five minutes prior and I didn't belong there like I was stealing or something. Then I sat down to finish my breakfast she changed the two TVs in front of me to what another man was watching so I ask her to please turn back and she did but then she muted my TVs and turned the volume up on his. Then she comes and removes everything from the table I sat at cups napkins silverware condiments everything from only my table she didn't touch any other table as she mumbled under her breath. Then I over heard a man order his meal from the menu and nothing was an extra cost like my meal was. Kim was very unprofessional, rude,disrespectful, had an attitude and acts very racist. She did not receive a tip. Then the next morning as we ate she never spoke or asked us if we needed anything at all but she greeted all the other customers and asked them if they needed service. Then I came in one evening and asked for two cookies the woman behind the desk proceeds to get them and give them to me, as I grab them she holds them back and ask are you a guest here, then what room number are you in? I did not like that at all. It was very rude and unprofessional nor has any other staff asked me that from my previous stays. I have called Jason the general manager three times this week and left voicemails and have yet received a phone call. This visit was very uncomfortable and disappointing and made us feel out of place and unwanted. SOME of their staff DOES NOT seem to like African Americans AT ALL. read more

This past weekend, we flew to St. Paul, MN for a quick visit with family. On Friday night, we got a room on the 4th floor and let me say.. I am a picky hotel person but this hotel was perfect. The rooms were clean, hallway was quiet and staff was very helpful. Then, on Saturday night we got a room on the 2nd floor because my niece had her 30th Birthday party in the ballroom on the 2nd floor. The ballroom was very spacious, clean and nicely set up for us. The room that we got was just as nice as the previous one. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting St. Paul, MN, for $109/night, you can't beat that price. read more
