The staff was kind and friendly. Context: My wife and I were midway through a 2-day stay that had been booked through a third party. About noon on the second day got a call that my wife's mother was having a heart attack and was being airlifted to Fargo. I ran up to the room, grabbed our luggage, and checked out... explaining to the desk staff what happened. I spoke with Priceline. They were willing to approve the cancellation and refund my remaining night because of my family emergency. The only thing they needed was approval from the hotel confirming that you would not charge Priceline for the unused night. You declined. So, to be clear, this was not a situation where anyone couldn't issue a refund. Priceline was willing to give up whatever profit or fees it would otherwise have been entitled to. They were willing to make an exception--not because they were legally obligated to, but as an act of goodwill during a genuine family emergency. All they needed from the hotel was an agreement not to charge them for a room I would not be using. The room had already been vacated and housekeeping had cleaned it. It could realistically be made available and potentially sold again tonight. Yet the hotel chose to collect payment for the unused night anyway. That distinction matters. Companies frequently use phrases such as "we can't" or "we're unable to." But in this case, the accurate statement is: "We could make an exception, but we choose not to." I understand that the reservation was subject to a cancellation policy. I am not arguing that you were legally required to refund me. That's precisely the point. Compassion and goodwill only mean something when a person or company chooses to do something they are not required to do. Priceline was willing to do that. Your hotel was not. So please don't tell me that my satisfaction is your highest priority, or offer me hollow expressions of sympathy about my family emergency. Your actions communicated your priorities much more clearly than those words ever could. And to Zane, Kim, or whichever manager ultimately made this decision: someday, when you're frustrated by how impersonal, uncaring, or profit-driven the world has become, I hope you remember this interaction. You were given an opportunity to make a human tragedy slightly easier for someone, at essentially no additional cost beyond surrendering revenue you were contractually entitled to collect. You chose not to. You made an already terrible day a little worse simply because you had the contractual right to do so. That was your choice. Please at least have the integrity to call it what it was.

They have a restaurant but the hours are strange and don't seem to be accommodating to an all meals situation such that if you need 3 meals a day you couldn't go to their in-house restaurant. The rooms, well, I only had one room, but it seemed fine, a little dark though even with lights in the front, the small kitchen area (microwave, bar and refrigerator), the desk, the corner by the window and around the bed. The temperature control is great, I loved it. There is a small closet, a dresser, a desk with chair, an armchair, a bed and bedside tables, a bathroom and a TV. Standard stuff, and all was functioning except there was a non-functioning alarm clock. The bathroom sink and tub fixtures had seen better days, showing some wear and tear so that some of the chrome finish was chipping. Nice toiletries brand here, Crabtree & Evelyn stuff. The hallway carpet was not looking its best though, as it had bunched up in some places outside of the room. The carpet inside the room seemed fine. The bed was clean and comfortable, but I like to have more than a sheet and a thin cover. Luckily the room temperature was easily adjustable. Good number of pillows, yay! Overall, the standard room had all my needs met and plenty of space for me to just do whatever I wanted with my stuff and not have to care about where to place anything. If you have a sensitive sense of smell, the whole building does have an older building smell but nothing atrocious or foul. I did use the fitness center, and I was pleasantly surprised by the equipment from a Peloton bike to modern treadmills with TV screens and many program choices. The weight machine has seen better days with the part for pull ups looking rather rusty, so I didn't trust to use that. There were dumbbells, too, so that's nice. No one was there when I used it, but it isn't the largest, so it could potentially be filled up quickly. There are towels, a water cooler and a scale, as well. It looks out onto the pool but is open 24 hours unlike the pool. If you just drive to check-in and never walk outside onto the street, you'll not notice the location is not the most ideal in terms of just outside there is a distinct odor and on the block of this hotel the sidewalks strangely have a lot of bird parts - literally. I know it's not right on the property, but it's within a block where if you walk outside you smell stale urine, may smell some marijuana (depending on time of day) and also see bird poop, bird legs, bird wings and bird feathers. I can't explain it -it's not like one bird smashed into the building nearby and you see the remains, it's far more than one strewn over a large length of sidewalk near buildings within the block of the hotel. In addition, there are folks who hang out nearby the building at different times of the day/night, so just be aware of your surroundings.

Very helpful staff! Everyone that I saw was polite and eager to make their guests happy. I even got a couple extra of their famous cookies in the evenings when I was looking for sweets. I got a corner room, that was very spacious, with great views of the city and the beautiful cathedral of Saint Paul. One tip for travelers: the 54 bus that comes right in front of this hotel can take you to the airport for just one dollar!

I took advantage of the SPAC- Saint Paul Athletic Club facilities while I was there- Sauna, Steam room, and pool. Sad they didn't have a hot tub, but I made due. This is a hotel that you can go to and be very low key. They don't have a restaurant on site but their continental breakfast is a great deal. Everything was fresh. Sleep and convince of the green line is the only reason why we stayed here. Love the beautiful door to get to the walkway system from the 2nd floor. Too cool. The pool and gym are awesome as well. Fast forward to Lisa letting one of us go in the room to check for said wallet, me and her had exchanged words while waiting outside the room door, because she was simply just too rude and apathetic. No threats or anything just checking her because of her attitude towards me and my crying sister. She had also put her hands on my sister for trying to enter her room and claimed SEVERAL of us had threatened her by the end of the night. Yes we understand there's rules to getting another key and verification, but she could've handled it way better. After escalating things and being rude, my mother had defended us and ofc had a heated conversation to where Lisa then begun to call the cops not once but twice. All because she can start stuff but apparently can't take the heat back. During the heated convo, Lisa was wildly unprofessional egging my mother on to fight. By the end of the night, she had us all trespassed one by one, room by room kicking us all out even when my other family members weren't involved all because "we were associated by being family." She had also answered the front desk call from my sister, posing as a manager and LYING on the phone with one cop as a witness. I have never met such an unprofessional person in my entire life. We had no other problems with any other staff except her. We felt targeted and embarrassed all because she couldn't be nice. 0/10 and definitely don't recommend this place until she's dealt with. You could tell they needed more help since the line to drop off my keys was 30 minutes at one point. The management did apologize to everyone in line for the wait and ended up reimbursing the valet daily fee for waiting so long. I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out. Can't wait for next ski season!
