Do not entrust this "practice" with your pet. They are manipulative, and insisted that my 20 year old sign off on $1500.00 dental treatment plan while the cat was there over Thanksgiving. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the cat's teeth, but they insisted, and would not say how much the visit would be until the "dental treatment plan" was authorized. I took my cat Kallie to Dough's for several years. They took care of her health care and bording. I loved my cat with my whole heart. I always felt like she was very well taken care of. I have been taking my Yorkie here for all of her vaccines . Gia is six months old and ate a piece of a houseplant that was poison per my Vet there because I sent a pic and they told me the plant was poisonous. So I'm literally 3 mins away mind you down the street , the only Vet that Gia had been to and they told me they had no opening mind you I'm 3 minutes away my Gia is showing little sign of life THEY SAID THE PLANT WAS POISONOUS , they would not see her I almost begged them to see her I'm up the street They said sorry go somewhere else . We recently adopted a dog from the APL. Two days after we brought her home, we took her to Douds for complications from her spay that was done at another facility. She ended up needing to have an exploratory surgery in which Dr. Douds found and fixed the complication. I can not even begin to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at Douds for caring for her. Thank you for seeing us in an emergency situation. Thank you for listening on the phone to all of the questions we had, and for educating us on how best to help our dog. The staff and doctors were kind and compassionate to our whole family. Today, we got her staples out from her surgery. So many of the staff at Douds asked how our dog was, and also inquired about how she settling into our family. Took my cat here for a routine declaw and he ended up having to get toes on both front paws amputated. The second vet who treated my cat said he believed the pressure bandages were left on too long. read more

I recently took our Shar-Pei monkey to Douds veterinarian clinic for routine bloodwork they could not get a vein so they stuck her with a needle 4 separate times twice in the front leg once in the black leg and then in her jugular where they were finally able to draw the blood within a day she began to swell up and develop an infection which started in her right back leg where they stuck her with the needle when I return to inform them she was sick and that they had possibly cost for the infection they denied sticking her with the needle altogether and said that the infection was not brought on by them that they never stuck her in her rear right leg however I was in the room and so is my husband we both saw her clearly stick the needle into her right leg the dog was not sick before then however she proceeded to get worse they at that point administered fluid underneath the skin in the back of her neck sent her home try to charge me for another $83 for her antibiotics for the infection they caused and a steroid when I did not have the money they would not accept payments even though I had been a loyal customer for years and never not paid them so they called it into Walmart pharmacy where the medication only cost me $17 monkey proceeded to get worse I called them they said there was nothing they would do for me as I did not have enough money for them to save her life at that point I finally got them to greet to see her two days later at their facility where they still denied causing the infection and only offered to sleep as by this point there was no saving her life and she was dying needless to say we lost our precious Sharpei and our whole family was devastated their attitude about it was less than professional when they told me she was not doing well the vets words exactly were your dog is going down the drain and you do not have the budget to save her I will never be back there again and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there and be put through the awful heart wrenching experience that I was please avoid them at all cost. read more

I would like to tell everybody who reads this review what a crappy piece of crap DOUDS ANIMAL HOSPITAL truly is my dog just died on 07/30/2015 because he was misdiagnosed with heart failure an he didn't have heart failure he had Cushing's desease, now you don't give a dog lasix with Cushing's desease cause that will take out his kidneys. Dr. Balas misdiagnosed my dog an gave him lasix an heart medications an nothing was wrong with his heart says a cardiologist that I paid $513.00 to find out. This monster had me giving my dog medicines that was killing him slowly. I can not believe the torture that my dog an I was put thru I can't even tell you how it feels for me to have this so called Doctor to tell me to give my dog meds that was killing him slowly,omg my dog is dead now from his kidneys from meds he didn't even need I can not believe this nightmare I wish I can tell the whole world what they did to my dog but I can't. We need more animal laws so this can't happen to people who love their pets. Hey I spent thousands on keeping my dog alive I don't want the money back I just don't want another animal to die for such an incompetent Hospital as DOUDS. We usually see a different doctor for routine appointments but recently saw Dr Balas for an issue one of the dogs had. She connected so well with my usually-difficult dog, and earned my dog's trust quickly, which does not happen with very many people. I think we will continue to go to Dr Balas for this reason. The staff are friendly and you are seen at your appointment time-no waiting in the lobby forever which is nice. read more

So very sad. Our pet family has been seen by doud's for 28* plus years. Went in today to get our dogs nexgard meds. which they had sent us a coupon and we had them filled there last year. They wouldn't fill it for us because they had deleted files for two of our dogs. Seems as every time we go in, their staff has very poor customer service skills and poor attitudes. Not to mention Douds is always trying to upsell. My advice, " My money spends just as easily at your competition as it does there." It's a shame this once community friendly vet has become know as money gouging money hungry vet. Time for us to find a caring vet.. Such a shame.... read more

I am saddened to write this review, as my husband and I have taken our dogs to Douds almost since its inception. I adore Dr. Douds. He has always been kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Their prices were much better than the clinics in Lorain, which is why we initially started to use their services. But recently, I have been extremely unhappy with them. I took my 8 pound Chihuahua in for a dental cleaning. One year and approximately $800.00 later, Dozer finally got his teeth cleaned and a few teeth pulled. The biggest problem I have is that of price and the lab work that they require. They do some lab "in house" and some is sent out. I truly believe that the "in house" readings are not accurate. Against my wishes, my dog's blood work was done twice in two weeks. That, of coarse, made me pay twice for the same blood work when there was no indication that Dozer needed it repeated or there was a problem, but it also came up with two very different results. When I complained that the lab work was repeated against my wishes, which I had verbally expressed prior to them drawing it, they offered no resolution (I spoke with Dr. Nicely and the office manager). I requested that Dr. Douds be notified, so I assume that he also is o.k. with what happened. The other problem is that there is just not the love and compassion that used to permeate the clinic. It is with a heavy heart that I will be taking my dog to a new vet the next time the service is required. read more

My family has had some issues with Douds in the past between outrageous pricing and misdiagnosis, but I will definitely give them enormous credit for how comfortably my dog was put down recently. We didn't even end up having to wait whatsoever, we had an appointment (which the receptionist over the phone was very sympathetic while scheduling) and were taken immediately to a comfortable room that was half set up like a living room. A blanket was on the floor next to a comfortable couch. They had us pay right away so we could just leave afterwards (surprisingly not too expensive either). The vet and assistant were very considerate and patient, she was very friendly with my dog as well. She asked me before giving any injections if I was ready to say goodbye. She quickly gave the first injection to relax her and help her fall asleep, then gave us about ten minutes alone with her. Came back and asked if we were ready for the injection that would help her drift away. The vet sat on the floor with us and gave the second injection, listened for her heartbeat, and then quietly told us when she was passed. She then pressed her paw print into a clay mold free of charge and told us that we could leave whenever we were ready. It was extremely comfortable, one of the hardest days of my life and it will forever be remembered as a very peaceful passing. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way for my girl. I don't have much to say about their health care, but for that incredibly emotional day for all pet owners, I highly recommend Douds. read more

We recently switched to Douds from our current vet because the cost of a neuter was much more affordable! Our experience was fantastic and I have not one complaint! The staff was very friendly and answered all my questions. I never had to hold on the phone, and there's someone there 24/7 so our pup was never alone during his stay. Our dog is 6 months old and he did great with the neuter. His care at Douds was fantastic! He had no complications whatsoever. If anything he felt too good after surgery and we had to try and keep him calm so he wouldn't over do it. Then I'll was roughly $100 cheaper than what the other local vet quoted us. Not to mention we also purchased heart guard, had a nail trim and he was microchipped. The other vet didn't even include those. We were very happy and plan to be long term customers! read more
