Taking our dog here for a groom was one of the worst experiences we have had with our puppy. We asked for a simple trim/puppy cut for our anxious dog, telling them that it's ok if they can't get everyone we just want him to feel safe. Instead the groomer decided to shave our dog to almost the skin. At pickup my wife waited awhile in the hallway where she could see our dog (and was questioning if it was him because he looked so different than we have ever seen in the 4 years we have had him) while no one was willing to help her. A worker was sitting on their phone, and didn't even look up at her once to see if she needed assistance as she paced and started getting anxious about what was going on. Once she was finally helped, they had her pay before giving her our dog and then they had the collar on him. This caused my wife to have a panic attack as she was already unsure of if it was him in the first place and worried that he was not treated well with how much he was shaved. Our dogs skin was red and irritated from the aggressive shaving and also sensitive to touch in certain areas for multiple days afterwards, leading us to believe the groomer was rough with our dog. Usually it takes groomers up to 6 hours to groom him for a "puppy cut" and it took them roughly 2 hours to completely shave him down. If you have an anxious or nervous dog don't take your dog here. Also they seem clearly poorly managed and organized and my baby still seems shaken. read more

Sincerely disappointed and saddened. After 5+ years of loyal patronage, I am incredibly crestfallen. My precious Shepherd, Lady, was permanently excluded, after having a brief skirmish with another dog. Had such an incident ever happened before? Nope. Was this an established pattern of behavior? Nope. Was I given a phone call or a warning? Nope. Did the staff share any insight why Lady had shown this uncharacteristic behavior? Nope. Was Lady shown an ounce of empathy, or a shred of leniency? Nope. After a relationship spanning more than half of a decade, Lady was unceremoniously shown the door. For many years, I had felt a connection to this business and it's people. I had enjoyed patronizing a local business in my own community. However, clearly, the feelings were not mutual. Do not expect this business to treat you or your pet with any level of dignity, loyalty, or respect. The extremely low-level of customer service is appalling. I paid $30 to get my dogs nails trimmed. When I came out, most of my boys nails were hardly cut, if at all. When I asked them to cut more, she rudely said, I won't do it and neither will anyone else. I asked if she wanted me to hold my dog so they could do it better, and she huffed and said no. I paid for a service that wasn't even done. I couldn't believe how rude she was. Today was my pup's first day at their doggy daycare. Let me say, I am so impressed by their services. When we first arrived this morning, we were seated with the manager. He asked questions about her health, temperament, training, etc. He then introduced her to the other dogs and gave me a tour of the facility. I also was provided with information regarding the various programs (I.e. enrichment, trick of the month). Everything is structured and the dogs are continually monitored. Additionally, you can also check on your pup by going to the website and viewing their webcams. My family in California even went online to see how much fun my pup was having. The staff were so sweet when I called to check on her and informed me that she was having nap time . She is mellow and her behavior is better. I'm amazed. We will definitely become regulars. We take our dogs to get their nails clipped at Inn the Doghouse, so that is the largest extent to which I can offer feedback. For this accomplishment though - with our scared, diva of a chihuahua thrashing about - they deserve some serious kudos. They are very patient with her and I love that they have chihuahuas of their own hanging out at the front. They are great about getting you in same day. We usually just call ahead to make sure someone will be there although once we were told someone would be there, show up within the window they were supposed to be there and they had gone home. But that was probably a one-time thing. Parking is ample just to the west of the building. read more

We have been sending our ShihTzu to Inn the Doghouse's daycare weekly for the past two years. The staff has exceeded our expectations in every way; it's obvious that the people who work here genuinely love spending time with and taking care of animals. Somehow our dog has a sixth sense of when we are going to take him to daycare and his excitement tells us that he loves his time here as well. The best part is that he comes home and sleeps for about 20 hours straight after playing all his energy out. One big perk of the establishment is the web cameras that you can use to watch your dog having a great time. Another advantage for peace of mind is that there is a small vs large dog area. If youre looking for a place to drop the pooch for a few hours or a weekend, you could do far worse than Inn The Doghouse. When I first dropped by to take a tour sans the little ankle-biter (well, she doesnt really bite ankles more like try to lick them) on a Saturday, the staff member who toured me around was friendly, informative and welcoming. I like the varied levels of accomodation that are offered at different price points. Three points that I dont exactly dislike, but that cause me pause, are: 1 - the size of the small dog area. Not quite large enough to get a good scamper in, it pales compared to the large dog area which is very spacious. 2- you can also view your pooch's day via webcam (a great service IMO). It allowed me to observe, on the particular day that I tried it out, that the staff are only in the actual pen with the small dogs infrequently. At other doggie daycare locations, Ive observed attendants in with the dogs 100 % of the time. 3. During our initial "interview", I was sternly told by the owner that my choice of flea/tick preventative medication (which was highly suggested by my vet) was inadequate and that I should consider another option. Opinions are great, like ...well, you know.. Everyone has one, but, frankly, Im going to follow my vets advice vs. someone I met 3 minutes prior. Still a nice location that I wouldnt hesitate to use as a back up for a day or so to my preferred doggie daycare provider. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Inn the Doghouse for doggie daycare. The staff and owner truly went out of their way to accommodate my dog and I. I had to travel to Cleveland for business on short notice and was forced to bring my dog with me as I had no where for her to stay. Inn the Doghouse was the only daycare in Cleveland that would take her on short notice. On top of that, my dog was there for 6 hours and I was only charged for a "trial day" ($10) since it was my dog's first visit. Also, I had to pick my dog up late and the owner happily stayed an extra half hour so i could have time to get her. Finally, when I arrived to pick her up, the owner had his groomer trim my dogs toenails free of charge. I cannot thank Inn the Doghouse enough for going out of their way to make mine and my dog's experience fantastic. We will certainly be visiting again on the next business trip to Cleveland! read more

To be perfectly honest, I was really apprehensive after I made a grooming appointment at Inn the Doghouse and then read some other online reviews that had been posted on another site. I always get a little nervous when I leave my tiny dog with anyone - she is my heart...but, I figured if it didn't feel right, I could just leave... When I arrived and rang the doorbell, I set off a loud chorus of welcome barks inside. My dog is a 5 lb pom-poodle mix and often I think big dogs see her as a toy to chase or play with, not as another dog. She is just much more fond of people than other dogs, so the barking was a little frightening for both of us. As cute as she is we love to joke that she somehow ended up with all of the spare parts in her litter. Because of her size and her breed mix she can be a challenge for grooming (she has had some terrible haircuts in the past!) But, once inside things seemed OK and really well supervised. I was there right around noon and there must have been 20-30 dogs playing ball in a large warehouse -like space. It was sporadically pretty loud, but totally controlled so I left her with the groomer who seemed confident and made a plan to pick her up a couple hours later. When I returned to pick her up (they called as promised about 2 - 2.5 hours later to tell me she was ready), I have to say that she looked adorable. The cut was great and she seemed fairly unrattled. I was also pleased at the price which was about $8 less than what I had paid at other groomers. BONUS! If I had any criticism, it would be that I think it would be nice to have a small office space to conduct business where the barking of the daycare dogs was a little muted. But, that being said, we had a great experience. I am a fan and I will be back. read more

I love how my pomeranian looks, after picking her up from the groomers. Annie is very good and caring person. I was so impressed with the friendly and profesional staff. I have been looking for a good clean and caring place to take my dog. I will for sure take her back. We did our research before bringing our pets with us to Cleveland. Our loved one was having heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Nov. 20, so we came up and brought our dogs Little Man and Bob too. They stayed at Inn the Dog House, and had a great time. I know this because I would check in on them with the cameras while we were at the hospital. It was very entertaining to watch them as we sat in the hospital waiting room days on end. We alerted Inn the Doghouse the day before THANKSGIVING that there had been a complication, and we needed the dogs to stay a few more days. Long story short..despite being totally booked they went the extra mile due to our emergency and kept our dogs. We were so stressed out after 9 days at the hospital, and the staff was so good to us and our dogs. I can't say enough. This place is fantastic. I love the staff, the new digs are great and my pup always comes home pooped. We have been bringing Wynnie there since she was a wee thing and she's grown up with them. The staff are always so sweet with her and patient. She is a breed that can intimidate some, but to them, she's just a wiggly pup that needs to play. I love that whenever we walk in they immediately welcome us and know all the dogs by name. It makes me feel like me and my pup are well taken care of. If ever she is sick or acting strange, they don't hesitate to call me and let me know what's going on. In fact, they were the first ones to catch the early signs of her gut issues that I had missed (it's not contagious, it's a syndrome...no worries!) Just took my pup there to get her nails done for the first time. We just moved to the area and I see this place all the time so I decided to give it a chance. When I called they said I could just walk in for nails. I walked in and was greeted immediately. Every person that I came across in my time there was incredibly nice and greeted my pup gently as she was a bit anxious. They took her back immediately and I heard them calming her. William did her nails and was incredibly sweet with her. Everything was smooth and quick through the entire process. I have a rescue dog that has some issues. Ok- he's got a lot of issues. Also- I'll admit that I'm probably a little indulgent when it comes to him because of his previous situation. The folks at Inn the Doghouse have been fabulous in their attention to his special quirks and behavior patterns. I LOVE that. He's a smaller guy (though he's more interested in playing with bigger dogs) so it was nice to see that they have an area dedicated to smaller dogs. I like their policy of dogs having a trial day before being able to stay, too. I felt like it gave me a chance to see if they were a fit as well as them a chance to evaluate my dog and his integration. When I dropped off my little guy (with nerves similar to those I imagine parents have on their children's first day of preschool) they offered a tour of the facilities. We're going to be using their services for grooming and boarding (although I'm thinking maybe the day care might be good now and then, too) so I was glad to see how everything is set up for that. It really calmed my nerves. My dog has never boarded before and he'll be doing that for a weekend coming up and I like that he'll be able to have his bed and toys from home and his bowl in his own space. The areas that dogs are kept overnight really are good sized and I feel better about leaving him somewhere that he'll be able to move around and stretch and play. I was super nervous to leave him for his trial since he'd never been to day care or been boarded and had only been groomed at the same time as my mother's dogs... It was nice to check the webcam and see him wagging his tail. Hopefully he'll have a positive experience during his first time boarding ever (before moving to Ohio he stayed with a friend or my mother when I had to go out of town) and I'm far less nervous about that with Inn the Doghouse. read more

The employees are so nice, love animals, and always take great care of my dog. If you're doing day care, you can check up and watch your pet via their webcam on the website when they are playing. Prices are very reasonable, too. Grooming has been hit or miss, but only because of different groomers with different styles.. like getting your own haircut, it takes a while to get exactly what you are looking for, but the last few times have been fabulous. Grooming services have been wonderful. I started using their groomers after they moved locations. Fair prices, excellent quality, and very clean facility. Plus the groomers they have on staff are extremely kind. I have been using ITD for many years, both for daycare and boarding. My extremely old dog is unsteady on his feet due to bad back legs (plus he is medicated). The staff could not be more wonderful about working around his unsteadiness. They even put down a carpet in the kennel space he waited in after his grooming, so he wouldn't accidentally fall. read more

I have been taking my dog to IDT for about a year now, and I always feel confident that she will be well taken care of. They have a very competent staff that treats my dog very well. They are friendly, helpful and even caring towards my dog. You can view the dogs on the cam while they're there, so that proves they run a good, solid program. My one suggestion would be to perhaps try and split up the dogs a bit more. They have a "small dog" section, but they might want to consider dividing the dogs up just a bit more so that there are less in the main area. I'm sad to see such an attacking post on here towards IDT. Of course we all experience things differently, but for someone's post to be so far different from the others leads you to believe it has more to do with the problems and issues of the person who posted rather than IDT. Some people love to play the blame game instead of take responsibility for their own self, pet or supposed dog sitter. So be wary, since there are clearly loads of other fantastic ones. IDT is a solid choice for doggie daycare and boarding that I highly recommend. read more

But, he reaches a new level of excitement as soon as I am within 3 blocks of Inn the Doghouse. He cannot wait to get inside and play. My wife and I are in absolute love with Inn the Doghouse, their entire staff is extremely friendly and make us feel like we're part of the family each and every time we bring our dog Optimus there. We've used their entire range of services (except the cat boarding and grooming) and have recommend them to several friends in the area. This doggy daycare is a wonderful establishment. We take our pooch here at least once a week and by the time we pick her up after work she's absolutely pooped. Which is wonderful for 2 busy working individuals. The staff is amazing. Every day they have a large number of dogs but they never seem to forgot those who come regularly. Each time we come in our dog is greated by name and with a smile. We know that when we're dropping here off that she's in the best possible hands, other than our own. The prices are fare and the socialization our dog receives is great for her. We highly recommend taking your dog to Inn the Dog House if you're in the Lakewood area and your dog needs a little extra exercise while you're at work. read more

I took my dog to the Inn for the first time not long ago and was AMAZED at how she looked. My dog is eight so she has had many haircuts in her life and this is hands down the best. These people really pay attention to details and that is the difference between a great groom and not. My girl is due for another bath and cut and I have no question where I'm taking her.
