While I have always been impressed with State Farm Doug Steiner's office, I was recently in a car accident. I was T-boned by another driver. State Farm did not do a thorough investigation and did not consider that a construction company was negligent in causing my accident. They did not obtain all the facts. As a result, they found me at fault. State Farm as a whole is a good insurance company but the claims and appeals department isn't. I can no longer recommend State Farm for auto insurance. Extremely disappointed. While they will undoubtedly try to refute my post, I stand by what I said. read more

I have had State Farm since 2006. My rates have obviously fluctuated between that time. After college, my rates went down until this year (2015) when my new job made driving my primary function. I spend 6 hours a day driving roughly. Either way, Doug has always been on on "my team". I have watched office assistants come and go, but Doug's friendliness has remained. He will email me immediately when someone in the office has forgotten to do so and he spends ample time with me over the phone or in person to figure out my best solutions. When my spouse and I got together, we decided to stick with State Farm and Doug's office despite having moving up to North County. Doug made sure to give us our best options and explained the differences in prices as they rose. Since my spouse drives a luxury racing car, our premium was higher than his old insurance policy (esurance) but the quality of service, efficient nature and our overall coverage is much, much, better with Doug's office. He really takes time to know and most importantly REMEMBER who you are as an individual, not a policy number. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! I called to get a rough quote on Insurance for a new Traveler Trailer I was buying. A little about me: I had State Farm from 1986-2001. After 9/11, my rates went up. I had no tickets or accidents so I called my agent and asked why they went up. They explained because millions of dollars went out for 9/11 that everyones rates were increasing. I didn't think it was fair and I shopped around for another insurance company. I found Metlife and I had them until 2006 when a friend of mine, who became a Farmers Insurance Agent, beat Metlifes prices. When I bought a new car in Nov 2011, my rate went up with Farmers. I shopped around and my roomate had State Farm with Doug as his agent. I called in Dec 2011 and was quoted a price $30/mth cheaper so I paid them my first months payment and was excited to have State Farm again! That was 12-27-11. On 1-10-12, I got a vm from the office that my rate would be going up. I called back and asked how much and why and was told it would be $71/mth more because of a speeding ticket I got in 08. Come to find out, they go back 6 years for tickets where almost all other Insurance companies go 3 years. I told her to cancel my insurance and I would find another company. 2 days later, I receive insurance cards and my policy from State Farm. My new rate was more than DOUBLE! from $91-$197!! Meanwhile, I got insured from Progressive, $80/mth, and received my policy and cards within 4 days. NOT over 2 weeks like State Farm Soooo, today I call State Farm to see about and they my refund tell me I'm not entitled to one. I tell them I certainly am. I was insured for 2 weeks and I am entitled to half my payment. They said because I didn't state my ticket, which was in 9/08, that they would've quoted me the correct amount in Dec. I filled out a quote online, because it was the weekend, and gave them all my info to run a dmv report. I called them 3 or 4 days later about a quote. To me, that is plenty of time to get ALL the facts needed to give me the proper quote. AND on top of that, they don't call me for 2 weeks after I made a payment, to tell me about the increase. I find it CONVENIENT that they waited that long to tell me my premium was more than doubled! Now, they won't refund any money because they are basing it on the $197/mth premium. WHAT A SCAM! JUST LIKE IN 2001! BE VERY CAUTIOUS ABOUT GETTING A QUOTE FROM THEM! I am NOT a bad driver with a ton of tickets or accidents. 28 years of driving, 2 accidents and maybe 6 tickets(most erased with traffic school). Ok. I'm done venting. This insurance broker was recommended by our real estate agent to assist in a homeowners policy. Doug quoted for the property and provided a written estimate. In several emails he agreed to insure our home once he received payment . We provided him payment and bank routing. The next day he called back and said that State Farm does not insure homes in our zip code. This is after we began the cancellation process with our existing carrier. He assured us in writing that we would be insured once payment information was received. I would not recommend this insurance broker under any circumstances. He did not do his due diligence. While, in good faith we went forward with the process of cancelling our existing insurance carrier. read more

I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED with the service that I got from State Farm. just 2 months after I enrolled State Farm I got a mail which was about policy change. I did not understand why so i called and asked them. No one called or informed me about situation in the first place. They doubled my fee!! They told me that after researching this the rate is accurate we pulled your motor vehicle report from you foreign license and they show you had a ticket for driving without an active license on 6-30-2013. Well I've been amazed at the amount of wrong information I 've received over the months from everyone at State Farm. I sent them my clean record from official website but I did not get any docs from them as a proof of ticket issue... So basically they lied to me or they are not qualified enough to get record of people... It has been 10 days but I have not got any document as a proof of ticket issue.. And they told me that they will cancel my insurance if I don't pay doubled fee and they canceled it... Also they told me they can not fix this situation in the last 2 hours. As a result of this, they canceled my insurance and I have to deal with other insurance firms again.. I have no insurance and the worst part is that I leant that just ın the last hours... I gave them all my docs in the first place, they gave me the price and I accepted it. And two month later they want to change it because of their own mistake!! It was the worst experience in my life. And never suggest State Farm any friend of mine. I spent days for nothing.. You say 'Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there..' Well There was no one who cares about me. read more

Doug is Great! Me and my family have had State Farm for over 20 years with the same agent. The agent recently retired and we were transferred to Doug's office. Doug made sure that the transition went smoothly by meeting with us in person in his office and also coming to our house to insure that all of our policies were updated and written correctly. He is great about getting quotes and policies written quickly as well as responding to any questions I have right away. His office staff is very friendly and helpful but not always as on top of it as he is, which is why the 4 stars instead of 5. Doug is a great agent. This man is dumb. He told me I qualified for the low income state auto insurance plan. I gave him $40 cash to get me started. A few weeks later I got a letter stating that I didn't qualify for the plan..hmm.. So I have been driving around everywhere with a BABY in my car also and I never had the insurance to begin with. Even though he gave me a policy number and everything. So I called him to ask him whats going on I gave him money and I want it back back now. So we talked about getting a policy through State Farm but it was to much and I didn't want to. I showed up to his office and he had his little secretary come hand the check to me and I said I wanted to see him. So i wait 2 minutes and went into his office. When I sat down he was very flustered because he said "I don't do these very often" BS If the state qualifies your company for the program you should know what the heck your doing! So he gave me a check back for $40. Well I paid in cash.. So I went to cash it at the bank. They wanted to charge me $5. I went to Wal Mart and it cost me $3. Because I didn't have a bank account. So in the end I was lied to about HAVING auto insurance. Then the guy was a D&*% to me when I walked in his office and was like "im done with you" so I walked out. I Don't recommend him. read more
