Owner's Suite #8 bedroom
Dana B.

We chose to stay at the Douglas over Labor Day weekend as a two-night staycation for our anniversary. Booking online was easy and the confirmation emails/texts were very informative. The staff were helpful & responsive. We booked the Owner's Suite #8 which is an upstairs corner unit with a downtown view, shaded by mature trees. The unit offers the perfect mix of privacy and convenience. The suite is tiny but the furnishings & decor provide both beauty and function, making the space cozy and tranquil. We had everything we needed for our stay. The room was well kept, very clean and smelled fresh. The bed was super comfy. It really is the little details and the Douglas did not disappoint - water, coffee, creamer, toiletries, and a bottle of wine (in select units). The building has one common space, a little lobby that has seating for about 6-8, located just up the stairs on the 3rd street entrance. The building is really charming and it's the perfect location for exploring the downtown area. It's located right above the Pike Toad tasting room, a Thai restaurant, donut shop and wine bar. Parking in the private lot behind the building is easy. (Please note that all units in the building are located on the 2nd floor; there is no elevator making it inaccessible for those unable to walk upstairs.)

Fully stocked kitchenette with full stoved dishwasher, plates, cookware and more.

What a delightful find. Everything about Douglas on Third has been well thought out. I love that the owners shared their story, and then made it come to life through the little forms of hospitality they demonstrated -- from a nice bottle of wine, to bottles of water, coffee and creamer, to a charmingly stocked, fully functional kitchen, bathrobes and tasteful amenities in the bath -- we felt right at home from the beginning to the end of our stay. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our visit and stay at Douglas on Third. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Great bed! The location was excellent, right on the main street, with lots of shops and restaurants. We had a reservation right next door at Bistro Maison, which was a good thing as it was pouring rain! Hope to visit again!

This past weekend my wife and I visited picturesque Willamette Valley. After doing a lot of research on where to stay, we decided on Douglas on Third. The place looked cozy, was reasonably priced and located right within the valley in quaint downtown McMinnville. I could not be more pleased with our decision. Room 1 was charming and perfect for our getaway in Oregon. Everything was clean and they even left us with a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir. It is in walking distance to restaurants, breweries, wine tasting rooms and shops. It is also in close proximity to plenty of wonderful wineries. I strongly recommend Douglas on Third. You will be very pleased!!

We discussed with the women at the desk and they assured us that all was good. Totally enjoyed our stay, had a great time at the concert on Saturday night. We check out, get the printout of our stay. Come home, compare it to our printout of the original reservation and still we were overcharged. My husband emailed and called to resolve the situation and spoke with Rhonda. She had a refund initiated and my account was credited. Needless to say, my husband is no longer going to make reservations in the future!! Thank you Hotel Oregon!

Basically, it was your basic crispy chicken sandwich on a hamburger bun with carrot, veggie ribbons, and jalapeno slices found in a normal Banh Mi sandwich. I've not had that sandwich with a bun before; I prefer the baguette to the bun. Didn't get napkins, and no ketchup. Did get ranch for my tots, though. Service, as with many McMenamins, was a bit lacking. No one came by to check on me after my food delivery or even asked if I needed anything else when it was delivered. Sadly, it's kind of what you come to expect from McMenamins' establishments. Cool atmosphere and generally good food but spotty service. Maybe the McM brothers should do like on that undercover boss show and visit their establishments incognito. Perhaps then the service will improve.

Check-in was a mess. Arrived about 10pm Thurs June 26. The person up front claimed to not have my…read morereservation and immediately asked if I booked the wrong hotel. Was pretty sure I hadn't, but maybe a fair question so I provided my text confirmation. Eventually she located my reservation, which was at this hotel, and shouldn't have been hard to find since I had an electronic confirmation. I had applied a $50 online credit towards my stay (Best Western reward for earlier stays). But the lady at the front desk wanted to charge me the full price of $198. Fortunately I noticed and told her. She asked if I had the "coupon" print out. I said no, it was electronic. So proceeded to show her the email confirmation which she seemed surprised about. She had to manually change the price to $148 which I paid. She then had to go check the room (420) to "make sure it was ready" which I have never had happen at a hotel. A few minutes later she came back and said it was so we got our room. Additionally the Internet was terrible. I had to take one work call (zoom) the next morning before heading out. I was dropped twice from the call and froze several other times throughout. Not a good experience. Then I get home and two days later the charge posts in my credit card for the full $198. So I am disputing with my bank and with Best Western to get this resolved.

Not a holiday week either. For $351 I could have stayed at the Atticus Hotel which is nicely appointed and is in a nicer location. Next time I will. I'll bet the Atticus Hotel has hot water at 6 am on the nights it charges $351/night. You know who doesn't? BW McMinnville, that's who.

--- Extremely…read moreDisappointing and Unprofessional Experience I booked this hotel specifically because it was advertised as pet-friendly. Nowhere during the booking process or at check-in was it mentioned that there was a limit on the number of pets allowed. I had two small, well-behaved dogs with me and assumed we were within the rules. Instead, I was confronted in the parking lot by a manager who told me I had to buy an additional room just to stay--which is ridiculous. Then, back inside, the front desk woman yelled at me across the lobby, demanding I check out. The entire interaction was aggressive, embarrassing, and completely unprofessional. This experience ruined my trip. If the hotel has a strict pet policy, it should be made absolutely clear upfront--not enforced through public confrontation and threats after the fact. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with pets or expecting respectful customer service. ---
