We decided to make McMinnville our "home base" when visiting the Willamette Valley. The main part of the town is on 3rd street, the same as Douglas on Third! The location could not get any better. It is so convenient to all of the stores and restaurants. Our unit was like a small apartment. One small room with a couch, high bar table, small fridge, sink and microwave. That small room led to a pass through toilet/shower room. The shower was tiny and the doors to the toilet/shower room were just sliding barn doors so you literally hear everything in there (not sure if I'm a fan of that part). After walking through the shower/toilet room, you hit your bedroom. It was a nice size. For those with mobility issues, there is no elevator and the units are all on the second floor so you will need to climb stairs. Communication with Douglas on Third was excellent. They had very detailed email information on how to access the building, how to access your room, parking, etc. You may also text them to communicate. I would absolutely stay here again! read more

We have a wine club trip here in Willamette Valley and our leaders chose this property. LOVE IT!! What a great boutique apartment style units. There are a few floor plans to choose from. Everything you need is right in your room. It is in the downtown area where there are plenty of restaurant choices for breakfast or dinner. We always had lunch at the wineries. You can even go antique shopping. The building was constructed in 1912. It was completely remodeled in 2016. It was originally built as a hotel with 30 single sleeper units. Now there are 14 units. IF THE WALLS COULD ONLY TALK!!! I wish I would have taken pictures prior to us unloading our luggage. Oh well. read more

Douglas on Third is in a great location close to restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and everything else on 3rd street. Major issue - there is no front desk or housekeeping staff. They do respond to complaints, but otherwise it is a DIY operation. Access is with coded door locks. They have excellent free self-parking, but they do not have an elevator to reach the rooms on the second floor. It's actually a flight and a half to the top of the stairs. Decent size guest rooms although ours was an unusual layout. Bathroom sink is in a tiny closet. Unexpected small steps between bedroom and entry area guaranteed to trip the unsuspecting guest on the way to the toilet - in the dark. Their excellent plush towels make up for the tiny shower stall with a shower curtain instead of a glass door. Room #3 has a view of a partially enclose narrow space between the building exterior wall. Somewhere inside this space there is an exhaust fan, probably from the Thai restaurant, that pumps out incredibly strong cooking odors beginning at 6am. Fortunately, they are closed Sundays, so we had one night of relief. They have a small lobby halfway between the ground floor and the guest rooms. Sometimes they have background music and coffee available, sometimes not. Overall, I think the room rates, ours was $300-$330 / night are too high. However, there are not a lot of options in McMinnville near 3rd street. read more

We chose to stay at the Douglas over Labor Day weekend as a two-night staycation for our anniversary. Booking online was easy and the confirmation emails/texts were very informative. The staff were helpful & responsive. We booked the Owner's Suite #8 which is an upstairs corner unit with a downtown view, shaded by mature trees. The unit offers the perfect mix of privacy and convenience. The suite is tiny but the furnishings & decor provide both beauty and function, making the space cozy and tranquil. We had everything we needed for our stay. The room was well kept, very clean and smelled fresh. The bed was super comfy. It really is the little details and the Douglas did not disappoint - water, coffee, creamer, toiletries, and a bottle of wine (in select units). The building has one common space, a little lobby that has seating for about 6-8, located just up the stairs on the 3rd street entrance. The building is really charming and it's the perfect location for exploring the downtown area. It's located right above the Pike Toad tasting room, a Thai restaurant, donut shop and wine bar. Parking in the private lot behind the building is easy. (Please note that all units in the building are located on the 2nd floor; there is no elevator making it inaccessible for those unable to walk upstairs.) read more

The room we chose was mostly clean and in a good location. The one small bathroom sink was clogged upon our arrival, my husband took a q tip and cleaned out the nasty hair and gook so that it would drain. I did tell the lady who was there at our check in that it was clogged, she said that this happened in another unit as well. For us, just my husband and myself and our 8lb dog, the room was very cramped. There is not a closet at all or anywhere really to put things; there are a couple of drawers/nightstands which were useful for smaller items. We felt claustrophobic. The host had "complimentary" snacks and the signage on the counter said just that. We paid for our $40 one dog package which included the dog bed and dog treats for her for use while we were there (did not use the dog bed kind of useless really) The human snacks consisted of some cookies, chocolate bar and small pkg.,of pistachios and one bag of microwavable popcorn. When we did get our receipt for our stay, all of the snacks were added on; from $2.50 for the single helping of popcorn to $8.00 for small cookies in box. If we had known they were going to bill us for these, we would not have taken them! Perhaps management needs to change the signage to state, the costs of each item so the consumer is aware they will be billed. REDICULOUS. We would not stay here again. read more

I love that the owners shared their story, and then made it come to life through the little forms of hospitality they demonstrated -- from a nice bottle of wine, to bottles of water, coffee and creamer, to a charmingly stocked, fully functional kitchen, bathrobes and tasteful amenities in the bath -- we felt right at home from the beginning to the end of our stay. This past weekend my wife and I visited picturesque Willamette Valley. After doing a lot of research on where to stay, we decided on Douglas on Third. The place looked cozy, was reasonably priced and located right within the valley in quaint downtown McMinnville. I could not be more pleased with our decision. Room 1 was charming and perfect for our getaway in Oregon. Everything was clean and they even left us with a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir. It is in walking distance to restaurants, breweries, wine tasting rooms and shops. It is also in close proximity to plenty of wonderful wineries. I strongly recommend Douglas on Third. The room is small but cute. There was an ant infestation in the kitchen in addition to the cooling being inadequate for the heat. There is no housekeeping service other than replenishment of supplies. The sheet for the king size bed did not fit the bed and continually came off the bed. There is no ice machine. When texting for service their team was responsive. All in all, for the price, they could do much better. I won't stay there again:( read more

I stayed in unit 12, a "MINI SUITE" with my husband. It's a really small efficiency and the bathroom was very awkwardly located in the middle of unit. The doors to the bathroom were railroad doors and didn't close shut so there wasn't much privacy and everything could be heard. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It had everything we needed and it's centrally located in downtown McManville which is great. We asked for an iron which was left in our room for us. Not sure how the other rooms are, but unit 12 was smaller than I expected. read more

What a wonderful gem in a cute village. Although not a huge space, it was perfectly laid out for maximum comfort and enjoyment. We loved it from the moment we used the key pad to access the building. The room looked (and smelled) great!!! The bed was super comfortable. Even the toilet paper was nice! We cannot wait to return to the Douglas on Third for our future visits to McMinnville. We spent a long weekend in McMinnville and chose to stay at the Douglas on Third. We had a nice suite, bedroom, sitting area with kitchenette, and nicely furnished bathroom. Not super large by any means but very pleasant accommodations. What attracted us to this accommodation was they were dog friendly, offered parking behind building and their location on main street, in easy walking distance to quite a few restaurants. Our stay at Douglas on Third in suite 1 was okay. It was relatively clean (aside from dog hair on the couch) but very tight. The sink for the bathroom was in the bedroom and the tub/shower was not very user friendly. The shower curtains either attacked the user or water was all over the floor. Our real issue was with street noise and construction noise. The garbage truck passed 10 times between 4-6 am. And, the mezzanine (advertised as a place with nespresso coffee and wine) was a construction site directly adjacent to the room. They didn't seem ready for guests at the time of our visit. I came for a 1-night getaway in Oregon's wine country. This boutique hotel is located conveniently on 3rd, where there are a variety of good restaurants and shops. They provide free on-site parking. There is no front desk, you arrange all in advance and get the door codes. All rooms are on the second floor (tall stairway) with no elevator or bell person to assist. Each room is a suite, some mini, some standard. This means there is a separate living room with seating and mini-kitchen (Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, sink, plates and glasses, etc.), a pass-through toilet and shower room, and the bedroom. There is also a sink in the bedroom (mini-suite 13). Bedding was comfortable. Everything was new and clean. My room faced east and the street was quiet. The bedroom has a TV with streaming channels. There is a little common room in the atrium of the hotel with a Nespresso maker, magazines, and seating. The hotel has nothing in the way of scenic views, but none in downtown McMinnville do. McMinnville has retained a charming small-town character, with local wine, food, and art rather than glitzy shops. I'd say this is great for a base for a romantic getaway, wine tasting in town or the nearby wineries, dining at the world class Okta (a block away), Nick's Italian Cafe (3 blocks), Bistro Maison (1 block), or the International Pinot Noir Celebration in July. Lovely boutique style accommodation in the heart of Mcminville! CA friends came to visit and we stayed here for 2 nights. Very clean corner unit and the 3 of us were very comfortable. The unit was equipped with most everything. The property has private parking which is free and has a lounge area, which we could have used if we had time. There are restaurants, wine tasting shops, retail shops and markets all within a 5 minute walk. The only thing that we felt was lacking was a concierge. This is not anything to consider a con, but we weren't prepared for this. I would say this is more of an airbnb style property. The owner, Lucetta was prompt, responsive and easily accessible. We also received a complimentary bottle of wine which was a great touch. We highly recommend this property! We'll definitely be back. read more

Awesome spot! Spent the day wine tasting in the Willamette and parked it here for the night for our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier with our set up. Initially had a little plumbing issue in the room we booked so we emailed the host about it and they were on top of things within an hour. They quickly put us up in another room and kept us happy. It's very clean and quaint with everything you would need including coffee and creamer in the morning. Would recommend to anyone staying in town and will stay again if we come back. Nightmare on 3rd Street. We checked in to a bachelorette party raging in the room next door. We complained to the local manager as the owner lives out of state. After our complaint we were not offered a different room. We then headed to dinner and upon our return around 8pm, the party next door was still raging and the walls are thin. We decided to not spend the night as we knew were weren't going to be able to sleep. On the drive home we called the manager to let her know the party was still raging and that we decided to leave. I wrote the owner Lucetta about our experience and asked for a refund. It was denied because she said no other guests complained. She also said quiet hours are not until 10PM. What a horrible way to do business and we will never stay or recommend this place to anyone. We feel ripped-off. This appears to be a party hotel. read more

Cool place to stay. We were bummed though we were not able to bring our 8 yr old as this place doesn't allow kids under 10 due to wanting it to be an enjoyable place for relaxing. This was absurd considering the fact that on both nights of our stay we had a big group of drunk people whooping and hollering way past 1am. The apt we stayed in number 13 was very charming, clean, cozy and the location was excellent. The bottle of pinot was also a nice touch. Overall we would definitely stay here again. read more

Great location and the place was very clean. Only gripe is the hvac system is lacking. We were able to check in early and lucky we did. The room was very cold at 2pm and was still too cold by 5pm even tho we turned the heat up to 86 f. By the time we got back it was warm enough to sleep. The hot water was also slow to warm and top end temp was ok for a shower. Did not cook or use microwave but looked like they were fine. Towels and bedding were nice. Overall a 4 but with better utilities could be a 5. read more

Stayed in #1 King corner room. Wish we could have stayed a week instead of a night. So close to restaurants, bars, coffee, ice cream, wine tasting storefronts. We spent the night after visiting nearby Eola winery and their lovely vineyard. Unit had absolutely everything we needed and the bed was the most comfortable one of our trip.
