Used him once and all was well, asked for another the next day... not so good. Started out good but went to confirm the final cost to reaffirm what his estimate could be to make sure I have what is needed to pay. He got frustrated and started to make me look like argumentative. I even apologized to attempt to de-escalate the issue, that I may have misunderstood and did not intend on making him feel as such, and he continued with his frustrated tone, which eventually hung up on me. Continued... 0-100 really quick with upset tone. Just got off the phone with my upset wife. The driver (Doug) texted several times and then called with the same frustrated voice and my wife was nearly in tears when speaking to me. She called me, wondering what happened. He continues to text my wife after the phone call with her; while explained my perspective of the conversation I had with him. He needs to chalk this up as a misunderstanding and move on. All I did was ask about his charges and was a bit confused about how they were applied when using the ferry. Is it possible I said something he did not like, sure... Even if I was in the wrong, is it wrong to re-confirm how its done and how the charges are done since I was confused about the charges for both going on the ferry and off when he is done dropping off the vehicle. He proceeded to talk about it being done the same way as a taxi. I was not familiar with taxi charges. I think i have used it once. I was worried about uncontrollable waiting times/charges when getting stuck in the ferry line. Very surprising with his 4.5 Star rating. I guess we all have our bad days. While I do not believe I had done anything wrong. Doug, I apologize for any misunderstanding's that resulted in this exchange. After a fail from AAA, I had to source my own local tow service to get my SUV to the repair shop. My vehicle has an electronic shifter and I could not get it into neutral. Doug had the right type of dolly rig to get my car taken care off. (see pic) I was also worried because it was parked under a carport with a cargo box on top, and I was afraid the box would hit the carport roof. Doug was very careful as he maneuvered and was great at explaining what he was doing during the process. He got my car hitched up and transported to the shop easy-peasy. I usually don't give 5 star reviews just to anyone. I was having a bad day and I was mad as hell... and thought my starter went out but then a Gift from God was sent and his name was Doug! I could've gotten any driver from his company but knowing someone like Doug is their leader and their teacher gives me hope about towing companies. He came through and even checked my vehicles and told me that my starter is fine and it is most likely a timing chain. OMG! Truly a lifesaver! I was broke down on 220th in MLT, headed west, as it approaches Hghw 99, just after noon. Traffic was heavy and thanks to me and my car, very backed up and people were yelling at me etc. I had left a voicemail hoping he could arrive before a couple others that were more than an hour out. When I recd a call back, he said "let me guess your blocking on 220th" I confirmed. He asked if I could get out of the way he was trying to get thru! LOL. He stopped as his way pass to see if we could at least clear roadway, but that didn't work. ***BEWARE*** Verbally abusive owner! So, I stupidly locked myself out of my car today and called Doug to open my door. I told him where I was and what I drove, he said to give him 20 and to continue to shop at the store I was in. After shopping for a little over 20 min, I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time and realized that I had accidently hit airplane mode, while putting it in my jean pocket. I immediately called him and said "I am so sorry, I just realized I accidently turned my phone to airplane mode, I'm not sure if you called me yet or not". He said he did, and that he left me a message. I told him that I didn't notice message, because I literally just looked at my phone and saw the airplane sign. Again, I said I was sorry. He said that he was "still here", not knowing how long it was since he called, I wasn't sure if he was half way out of the large parking lot or what, since I was still inside the store he told me I could be shopping in, and walking towards the doors, I asked light heartedly, "ok where might ya be?" Thinking that I might still need to direct him to the car. He condescendingly barked back "Well I'm by the Crown Victory of course"!!!! I was immediately irked by this, I was about to pay $65 for 2 minutes of work and felt that was WAY over the top RUDE. When I got to my car, I said "sorry didn't mean to make you mad." He instantly lashed out and started yelling at me over and over "Mad"?! "Me"?!! "WTF" (used full language) "what I'm pi**ed now?!! Really?!!!!! You're calling me mad??!! I repeated the part he had said so rudely on the phone, and he kept yelling, telling me he was here to "help" people and !!THIS!! is what he gets (uh, no it's a business and we are customers) yelling that I had asked "where he be" (and said it in mimicking voice) and that I acted like "I wasn't listening to him"!!!! and "like I didn't listen to his voicemail"!! and that "I was acting like I had no idea what was happening"!!!! On and on and on. Quite the show for the parking lot of people. I stood there listening to him thinking I'M the one NOT listening?!?! I told him when I called him back, that I did not know if he had called yet or not, because I JUST NOTICED my phone was on airplane mode. Then I TOLD HIM I didn't notice the voicemail, because I just noticed the airplane icon and called him back. So how would I know where he was??! I don't presume the world evolves around me, and that he would just wait all day by my car for me to call him back. For somebody who felt SO strongly insulted, that I should suggest that he was a snarky, rude, jerk from hell (which he was), he sure did have A LOT of commentary (complete with mimicking), about me asking the very question that made him give the A-hole remark, for which I called him out on to begin with. If he "wasn't mad" by the real easy question, he would NOT have had all that nastiness to say concerning the question for which he yelled all the way until the lock was done, and he sped off. He even shot me a text after he left saying, "I wasn't even there for a minute". (I have never had a business harass me after the fact before!) He was so furious, he left without charging me!! I would rather have not been treated and shook up this way, and just bought the service. It has been over a few hours now, and I am still very shaken by this verbal assault, and that is exactly what it was. Seriously folks, this is the guy that would knock the smack out of you for the slightest, if he had even a sip of beer in him. Woman or not!! Well, this woman was NOT going to take his crap, and he didn't like it much. I would NOT recommend this business. UPDATE: His response is not an accurate and true version of what actually happened (no surprise). I was very polite and apologetic that I had accidentally turned my phone to airplane, why would I be mad at him for my mistake? Makes no sense at all. I got irked by his obnoxious/rude response. I asked 1 time "where ya be?" because I didn't know if I needed to flag him where my car was or not, I had this happen before, and the tow driver just came into the parking lot and called so I could show him where I was parked. I walked up and did call him out on it, but all I said was "sorry to make you mad" I didn't get up in his face, yell, wave my arms, zip. He was the one that got insta-pissed and went off on me. And by reading his feedback, I see I'm am not the only one he has yelled at, hung up on, and has been an total jackass too. People don't just make this stuff up. He IS verbally abusive, with a dangerous temper. I am not broke, I don't need a free service, and why would you give a free service to somebody that "wrongfully called you out" or who was coming at you all out of control? You wouldn't, that's why. May you never need to have your car towed, but if you do, I would highly recommend Doug's Affordable Towing. Called them on a Thursday afternoon and they were able to come by within less than an hour to help my mother move her van to a tire center. Doug was quick to answer, very polite over the phone, showed up within the exact time frame he said he would, and treated my mother's new van very carefully (even though it made a mess on his tow truck! I needed a tow on a specific day and specific time. Was driving a car over to Bainbridge Isl. and then needed it towed back after removing the engine - towed back to Lake Forest Park! Many businesses didn't even want to be bothered - and if they were interested, were going to charge well over $500 with mileage, ferry fees, wait time etc. Doug agreed to meet me at a specific time, was there early and did a wonderful job. We just missed first boat at Kingston, had to wait, then had to wait more on board for a strange medical emergency. This would've resulted in well over $150 extra. Doug worked with me on some costs to keep it reasonable and within his quoted price. I would DEFINITELY use him again (and probably will to bring car back after motor rebuild).
