Marion got me settled and took xrays then Dr Jacqueline Bonci did the most thorough & relaxed exam I've ever had experienced. After 10 month since last cleaning I was encouraged my gums were in good shape. However, my teeth are not such good news. Getting not good news in the empathetic way Dr Bonci delivered it made it easy to digest and accept. I had planned to go to Tufts Medical School for 5-6 implants because of cost. After today's experience I feel more confident that never there is a way through this. I'm staying here and though I may only get 2-3 implants I want this work done by Dr Bonci. Very grateful for the care received including the office staff.

I said I trusted him and would undertake the multiple visits and for him to do the work. At the end of the fifth somewhat expensive visit, thinking I was done, he told me I now needed his referral to a specialist for considerable additional work and would no longer see him for any dental work. I would like to have known this in the beginning. His bedside manner is excellent, so far his work is good, his planning is very lacking. I would have had someone else do all the work had I known he wouldn't finish. I admit an aversion to pain but gave no trouble and quickly paid all my bills.

Hygienists are very friendly and go the extra mile to ensure comfort during procedures. Many hygienists I've had at other offices did not offer to apply numbing gel to sensitive gums during routine cleanings or put notes in my file to ensure other hygienists don't use the ultrasonic scaler on certain areas where roots are exposed. The hygienists at Healthy Smiles did. Dr Tam is great at what he does as well. He warned ahead of time that a tooth needing a very large filling could require a crown if the limited area of healthy tooth structure remaining were to crack. Dr Tam was able to maintain the integrity of the tooth while completing the large filling. Another tooth that already needed a crown was at risk of needing a complete extraction and subsequent implant. Dr Tam salvaged that tooth as well. He has a very calm manner and explains procedures well. The only hiccup I've experienced was an insurance billing issue resulting from my previous dentist waiting months to submit a claim and causing a miscalculation of my total annual benefits remaining. This resulted in my out-of-pocket expenses exceeding what the Healthy Smiles staff quoted me by about $100. After discovering the issue, the staff worked with me and decided to comp the $100. Great customer service all around at this place. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the market for a new dentist.

He "adjusted" the bill taking off the same amount the insurance was paying, that's suspect. So if I didn't refuse to pay that ridiculous amount, it would've cost about $585 per tooth?!! Not to mention the teeth he drilled, he did so going by 2 year old xrays from prior Dentist. These teeth were past repair apparently and now I have zero cash/insurance left until next year and I accomplished nothing this year. Not even mad, disappointed and sad mostly.

I have been a patient here for over 12 years and also take all 5 of my children here. They are honest about the amount of work needed and dont try to tell you that you need work done that you don't. I think the previous reviewer went to a different dentist. The office is not messy and is probably one of the most sterile I have seen. I work in the Biotech industry where everything is done in a sterile clean room, so I am more then able to judge if a medical office is observing GLP's. If I thought for one minute that this dentist office wasnt clean I certainly would not be a patient for 12 years nor would I take all my kids there.
