In the box lot area, there was even an auctioneer--an older man with a cane--who might spend 45 minutes or more on a single box. There was also a small kitchen where you could buy freshly cooked meals, which added to the overall experience. Today, the approach is very different. I see little to no online advertising for their auctions compared to other auction houses, aside from their website and a limited group they notify directly. Auctions now move quickly: items start low and end fast, with minimal effort to increase the final price. While this format can benefit buyers, sellers should be cautious. With the current pace and lack of active bidding, it is unlikely that items will achieve strong selling prices.

The ladies there who own it, are friendly and helpful. The young guys who help load into your car and such, are kind and helpful too. They offer delivery for those of you who buy a lot or need help with a larger vehicle. This is a really great touch. It's family-run and in addition to the antiques they also sell mulch out back. I drove past it the first two times I went because it comes up quickly and is somehow hard to see on Chester Pike there, but once you know where it is you'll do okay. Looking forward to my next trip. Everything that Briggs did to handle the estate was top-notch: from initial communication about the process and their pricing structure, to carefully packing and moving the items, to researching and assessing each piece, and finally, to selling the items with detailed, accurate descriptions, then providing a detailed list of what sold, for how much, and a check sent within a month of the last sale. Josie from Briggs was great both on the phone and over email (and in person, per my mom). My mom said she couldn't be happier with Briggs - even if some items didn't fetch as much money as we had hoped they would, we felt like everything was handled very professionally and fairly - and sometimes, antiques just don't go for as much as you'd think they would.
