You better hope you can get ANYONE other than this company... My car was wrongfully impounded by the police, they charged us $3600 for a two mile tow and impound... I called in and asked for any wiggle room because that was an insane price, the person I contacted said "It's expensive to run a 24/7 company out here, I'm legally allowed to charge you four hours minimum and since it was after hours the price is higher." $3600.... Absolutely unbelievable experience. Our company was charged nearly $95,000 for what we believe was a simple commercial tow with no accident damage, no rollover, no hazardous spill, no fire, and no major recovery operation involved. In our opinion, these charges were completely excessive and unreasonable for the actual circumstances of the tow. Even after paying substantial amounts toward the invoices, our truck and trailer continued to be withheld, causing severe financial damage, operational losses, customer issues, and enormous stress on our business. Because of this situation, we were forced to file complaints and reports with multiple departments and agencies, including towing regulatory authorities, consumer protection agencies, law enforcement-related departments, and other state offices, while also seeking legal representation to protect our company and recover our equipment. This entire process became one of the most financially damaging and stressful situations our business has experienced. Commercial carriers and owner-operators should be extremely careful, review every document closely, and fully understand their legal rights before getting involved in situations like this. Had an accident on 1/3/2026 near Chemult , Oregon which resulted in a recovery tow by Dowell towing services. They are for some odd reason a company used by the Oregon State police! To be brief my experience w them was horrible! I believe they are a predator Towing service. They exist to rip off the customers that they provide towing service, based upon my personal experience. They were repeatedly asked for an invoice but I never received one. They were given a demand letter but only called and gave an unpleasant response for my complaints to Oregon state police and the towing board of Oregon. They allowed me to believe my Vehicle was in Oakridge, Oregon when it was actually in Chemult, Oregon. My insurance company also was unable to extract my vehicle from them for 12 days. This was largely due to issues w their charges for services and towing companies trying to pick up the vehicle from them not getting invoices. I never got an invoice from them. The only invoice I got from them was from the towing company that was finally able to extract the vehicle from them. That company didn"t even receive one from Dowell Towing when they picked up the vehicle but requested it for me after the fact. On the Invoice that was not signed by me, at the bottom of it I was to acknowledge that I was offered : registered rates and given the opportunity for a good faith estimate before work was started, It also stated that by signing I gave Dowell the right to act on my behalf. I never got this info until the vehicle was picked up from their facility! I was denied these mandates by Dowell. On a star scale of 1-5 they are a minus 10 . John and Dave at Dowell are some of the nicest, kindest individuals I have ever met. They took great care of us when we had a vehicle breakdown in the snowy Highway 58 by Odell Lake. We needed a tow into Oakridge and they were so helpful. It is wonderful to know that travelers have such folks to help them out of accidents and mechanical issues on the highways. Crooks! No other word to describe this company. My sister-in-law got in an accident and called AAA for a tow truck but these guys were called by local police and arrived first. She specifically instructed them to not take the vehicle as she was waiting for AAA but the scumbag on the clock said that's impossible as he was already loading the truck onto his rig. Swerved to avoid a deer and ran off the road and into a very deep ditch. Triple A wouldn't get it out, they said it was beyond their area of expertise. My insurance refused to cover it because I hadn't hit anything, not another vehicle and not the deer either! I thankfully found Dowell Towing and they specialize in tough jobs! They got me out of the ditch and towed my car to my mechanic's for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them if you need expert towing in the Hwy 58 or Oakridge area. read more

My children were involved in a very bad rollover accident outside of Oakridge on a Friday evening. After spending nearly the whole day in the ER (everything was fine, thank God) the last thing we wanted to do, was deal with my kids belongings. But their phones and glasses needed recovered, and we called. The owner said he would open up his lot for us to look for our belongings in the wrecked truck/trailer even though they were closed on Sat. It ended up being a 100 degree day. The owner was more than helpful. He even put out a small fire that developed on the trailer the night before, potentially saving a few hundred dollars worth of stuff in the process. He let us rummage through until we found everything (and more) that we needed. Even though he had to stay nearby in the 100 degree weather. His family was at the river enjoying the summer day, and he was going to meet them after we left.
