This is a fun store and great for glassware. For how big it is I feel the selection could be more diverse, but overall it is the place to go for canning, serve ware and basic kitchen tools. They also have some cute stationary and of course a big nursery and garden supply stock. I love the building and the items are organized and displayed very well. I've been visiting Down to Earth for as long as I can remember. When my older kids were small we stopped in every Saturday morning after going out for breakfast. It's a lovely place to buy things for the kitchen, garden and as gifts. It has a great Eugene vibe without the attitude that sometimes accompanies that. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the people in the garden center will bend over backwards to answer your questions. The selection couldn't be better and the prices are reasonable. I always leave feeling inspired to do something - decorate, garden, cook, can - and sometimes visit just to get that feeling. It also smells great! read more

I might like this place more if they had what I need. Every time I go in there, they don't have what I am looking for because they under-order. Here is a list of the plethora of items: hummingbird feeder reservoir (no I do not need a whole feeder), garlic, potatoes, 2-6-4 bloom, arugula, deer skin gloves, an array of seeds (some people garden all year)...the list goes on. Yes, these are basic items...very basic. You would think that they would order enough to have them on-hand for a reasonable amount of time. Today, it was bloom. The bloom that they make...it is their brand. This is beyond ridiculous. It's July 27th and there are plenty of plants that still need food. You should have your own bloom in stock DTE! I have wasted hours in visits to this store, walking away frustrated and empty handed. I wouldn't complain if this didn't happen with such high frequency. This is exactly why people do their shopping at Wally World, Costco, and Amazon. Updated in September: Still no bloom and no alternative. Completely out of all liquid bloom products, among other standard items like an oregano plant. It's almost like the Lowe's experience of the gardening world. What a great store!! Parking is a challenge. But what the heck - well worth the stop! They have tons of Fiesta - lots of colors. Great kitchen ware stuff - just tons of stuff - I got a great buy on a saucepan with an stainless steel & glass lid - last one - and they were tired of looking at it!! Haha. I love coming here for gifts or kitchen needs. Though this store is a lot smaller then their downtown location, it's got a lot of great stuff, and a nice layout. Go downtown for Fiestaware and garden, but the staff here is great. The parking lot leaves a bit to be desired, it's tiny and difficult to maneuver in. Park on the street. read more

What don't they have? Not much. They have a section for everything: Kitchen gadget, cast iron, Jars, Dishes, pans, Candles, soaps, plants, trinkets, garden, candy, the list is never ending. The building is divided in 3 main sections, last being the garden area with mostly tools and plant food, there is a register on both ends of the building. The middle is plants ranging from air plants and succulents to cacti and house plants as well as their containers. The main and largest part is the point of entry where there is also a register. Today I bought a tea steeper, which I use for coffee as well. Roamed the whole place as usual and surprisingly only left with what I came for! Staff is always helpful and not over bearing. Tons of inventory but organized and peaceful environment. Smells are everywhere but nothing is too overwhelmingly fragrant (until you get to the fertilizers) 10/10 will return. 10/10 will recommend. I love Down to Earth! The name is great, and the whole spirit of the business resonates with my attitude toward life and gardening. There are a few things I buy there routinely, but it's fun to go in just to see the newest display. It's such a Eugene-appropriate place, well-stocked with goods to enhance a natural way of life. The shop is smaller than the Olive St store, but it has the same great variety of products. Pet supplies, gifts, stationary, house-hold items that you didn't know you needed but now can't live without, kitchen stuff, and of course, lots of garden goodies. The staff is great, the store seems to do a lot for nonprofits, and the location is nice. I wish the parking situation didn't require backing out onto the sidewalk, but that's pretty minor, considering. read more

A really great selection of tea infusers. We needed a large one with a long chain and found a couple that met that criteria here. I also found the #9 blade (thanks to the sales person) for my Felco pruner that I couldn't find elsewhere. They also had some ceramic (Ohio Ceramics) bird baths on sale that were very competitively priced. The store also hold workshops on gardening and related subjects. read more

This is one of the best places to go for garden and kitchen supplies. The people working there are always helpful and knowledgeable in the garden section and they have a lot of organic supplies instead of just a bunch of chemicals. There is also a great selection of jars, dishes, and other kitchenware. Check here first if you're looking for unique garden, home, or beauty gifts that you won't find in the chain stores. I like both locations, but prefer the one downtown because of the atmosphere. One of my favorite local stores! read more

Down to Earth is AMAZING. They really have everything you could ever, ever need for your home and garden: earthy cleaning supplies, cute accessories, adorable stationary, bath products, pet food...I could go on and on. Some of the stuff is a little spendy for my student budget, but they always have sales and they always have a clearance section full of products. And, the reason things cost a little more is because they're nice, high-quality items, not cheap/replaceable/plastic junk. Plus, they seem to help some local non-profits, which a surprisingly large number of businesses just don't seem to do around here. read more

We are new to Eugene, and this was one of the first few shops we visited once we got here. I was interested in the garden department, and my wife was interested in the housewares area. There is definitely something for everybody at this store! They carry Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap, the only product I use, and the price is amazing! There are two locations, the Olive St. Location being the original and larger of the two, the other on Willamette St carries the same products just fewer of them. Both locations have wonderful staff who greet you and are there to help. You could likely spend a couple hours just wandering their store, and I find myself seeing something new each time I have visited! I can't wait for spring to see the nursery side of things! They building is unique and charming, and the staff matches this character perfectly. People's pets are obviously allowed in the store which is cool! There is no better place in town to browse or buy a gift for someone else or yourself. Such beautiful practical quality goods. Returns are easy too. They want you to be happy. My very favorite place to shop is Down to Earth on Willamette. The staff there are hip, helpful, and knowledgeable. I especially enjoyed coming in the store when one of the staff there carried her cute baby girl in a pack on her back while working. See that made the place feel Down Home. This store is so cool. It seems to be a bit of a secret among the people of eugene, and when you discover it chances are you won't be able to stay away. The store is loaded with beautiful and unique items... Loaded. It can take you days to browse through, and every time around you are going to discover something new. So many of their items are so gorgeous, that I am constantly amazed at how affordable the prices are. This is definitely the place to go to add your own unique look to your home on a budget. read more
