There is also a dinosaur themed play area for children and covered pavilions to have social gatherings. Shelter and pavilion reservations are required. The extra large shelter can accommodate up to 100 people. I came to this location specifically for the walking trail and to scope out the 'play for all abilities' dinosaur area. The highlights of the dinosaur area are: Wheelchair-accessible ramps and platforms: Now, children in wheelchairs can smoothly roll onto platforms and access various play structures without hindrance. Sensory play equipment: These are especially beneficial for children with autism or sensory processing disorders. Elements like tactile panels, sound tubes, and visually stimulating components allow kids to engage multiple senses as they play. Low-impact ground materials: The rubberized surface ground materials have been chosen to cushion falls and facilitate easy movement for all kids. Shaded areas: Recognizing that some children might have medical conditions that make them sensitive to the sun, several sections of the playground offer ample shade. I applaud the effort of the city to add an all ability play area as there are few within the city parks. I was playing softball with my company team on Sunday night and as I was leaving I mistakenly drove off with my shoes and wallet on the trunk of my car. I realized this by the time I got to my destination so I ended up retracing my route in a panic desperately attempting to find my black wallet along the side of the road in the middle of the night... ugh. Of course I never found the wallet, but when I got home I had an e-mail from one of the guys that is an umpire for Kreig saying that he found it. He was super nice and had tried several means of contacting from my business card and other info in inside as well as calling my bank to let them know that he had found the lost wallet. Well I got it back the next day and I bought him a beer to show my appreciation. Because this guy was so cool I will go ahead and bump them up to a full 5 stars. Here's to good karma!

I can see how most times people just drive off.. me being the curious person I am just started walking by myself in the woods on a trail. I fortunately just so happen to see one woman walking her dogs and followed her in that direction but i swear to you she was walking fast as to not give this place away hahah! She actually disappeared onto another trail and couldnt find her.. (like Alice and Wonderland and the white rabbit style).. finally I heard splashing! I looked to my right and saw a weird trail that went down a steep side hill. So I followed the noise.. its pretty steep so be careful! After the brush and trees cleared THERE IT WAS! CLEAR, COOL WATER!! It was shallow when I got there and only about 8 people were there at 1pm during a Saturday. As time goes on it gets deeper and the water rises! Also more people start coming too. It feels sooooo amazing! You can grab a chair and just sit in the middle drinking and cooling off. Dog friendly! I spent a few hours with my boy before heading back. I live for finding places like this!

Eastwoods Park is my favorite Austin neighborhood park. It's grown up a lot in the past fifteen…read moreyears, and now has amenities in place that we take for granted, like children's playscapes. This is due in a large part to the Eastwoods Neighbourhood Association, whose members remain ardent stewards and advocates for this precious urban green space. For many years, we lived only a block away from that beautiful park (so yeah, I'm a bit biased). My children crawled, toddled, walked, ran, swam and had many adventures in and around the trees, trails, playscapes, swings, wading pool, tennis and basketball courts. I think one of them even did a science fair project there. We have so many great memories of helping clean up the creek, attending the Eeyore statue inauguration, and always, always birthday parties. It was the venue of choice for both our kids' birthdays, as well as most of their crowd. So many tree branches! So many pinatas! If you've ever wondered why there always seems to be a brightly colored candy wrapper or two under certain trees... well, now you know. We stopped by the park recently to admire their new splash pad. If you haven't had a chance to visit this gem of a park, do it already. You might come to love it as much as we do.

Apart from the two fields, there really isn't much in the way of other amenities. These fields have no lighting so all games must be played during daylight hours. While a great deal of the park is open to the public, some parts of the parks grounds are under construction specifically the pool area (according to a construction worker on site, construction has been ongoing for a 1.5 years). The grounds appear to be well manicured. Large, shaded oak trees are the focal point of the park. The park's amenities are a standout. Northwest park features playgrounds, pickle ball, tennis courts, picnic tables, and a scenic pond. The park appears children friendly except for the portion under construction. There's also a walking path around the park and Shoal Creek running along the edge. Overall, Northwest Park is a versatile, green space where recreation, nature, and community converge.

The entire parking lot to the pool has also been closed down. You can still park on the side of the pool or all the way behind it. Considering how big this project is, I think it's safe to assume that it's going to be closed for the entire summer of 2025. The rest of the park is still available for use, although all the property next to the pool is fenced off. So you may wish to skip this as your pool choice this year and try again next year.
