I wondered into DownTown Barbers in Palm Springs (NYC Transplant to PSP Living here now) around 6pm in March 2026 as I was in a pickle, needed my haircut desperately - it was after 6pm and every place else was closed - I was having drinks over Sunset SoCal - also a great outdoor space. Well that's when I met Veronica - who is AWESOME ! She is quick, funny as hell and gave me an incredible haircut. A dear friend of mine has a job interview tomorrow. He needed a beard trim only. We walked in and told them we did not have an appointment and we should be considered a walk-in. They immediately started working on us and the barber did a fantastic job with my friend's full beard. He looks professional and he's ready to go for tomorrow. So I called around 4 and made an appointment for 6 pm. Get there at 5:50 and there's one barber there and he has one guy in his chair and no one else in the shop. I notice the crap music they have on is way too loud for such a small empty barbershop. Shortly afterwards another barber walks in With a guy who he sits in his chair and proceeds to begin cutting this guys hair. Then another guy walks in (who is clearly friends with the first barber. Now it's about 6:15 and the first barber finishes up with the guy he's working on and motions his friend to sit in his chair. He obviously sees my annoyance and says he'll be with me as soon as he finishes with the guy ( who came in after me and I had a 6 o'clock appointment and it's now 6:15. They dictated the time, not me). Around 6:25 the 2nd barber finished up with the guy he's working walked in with and motions me to his chair. We chit chat and I never bring up the fact that I had an appointment at 6:00 or that I was annoyed at the other barber for skipping over me. He finishes up and they don't take cards (even though their website says they do) . Cash or I can Zelle him. The haircut was $45 and I don't care to use Zelle. They have an ATM in the shop that charges $3.95. I'm not a cheap ass but I am seriously annoyed. I take out $60 for the haircut and leave dude a $15 tip. I like the cut but won't be going back. I appreciate when someone has respect for my time and I really felt as though they did not! Horrible way to treat a prospective new client. I'll keep going to my current barber who was off this day otherwise I'd have gone to him. I also now understand why this barbershop was empty. It seems they mostly cut their friends hair and they will obviously move their friends ahead of people who are courteous enough to call ahead and make an appointment read more

Got yelled at and left half way through afraid. Unsure if the barber was having a bad day.

Theres a barber whos a youngin with the tat on his face who has a bad attitude. He struck me with a hard bristle brush, used a moldy hot towel, brought my hairline back so far You could tell it was all intentionally and on purpose. My fade was also different on both sides. This place is a nightmare and is known to go out of their way to be everything but of service to people. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They said he never had an appointment but would take him anyways-after a long wait the haircut was not worth the lying from the staff or the wait. So, I was lucky to grab a comfortable seat without a wait. I had a Mohawk styled back of head, with a fade and a slight faux hawk up top. Well good luck getting a barber here even with an appointment. Nobody really greets you or even asks who your waiting for. You just kinda sit there hoping that someone does your appointment. These guys are fantastic. My partner and I were in Palm Springs for our wedding, and I stopped in to this place to get a straight razor shave, a head shave, and a beard shaping. The guys were tons of fun and did an outstanding job. Not only that, but when my partner stopped by to pick me up after he had his hair cut at a local salon, the guys at Downtown Barbers jumped on him and told him that he couldn't possibly go to his wedding with that haircut. They talked him in to a chair and quickly and confidently fixed up his mediocre (at best) salon cut in about 10 minutes -- at no charge!
