I rarely go to get my haircut, normally just clip at home. But, I had the itch. Street parking is easy and you really can't miss the place. Mark was working and there were two people waiting in front of me. The wait wasn't long at all. Mark was really nice and definitely had the feeling of a regular barber type. I've been reading the older reviews and some are just plain funny! "Adam Z" was mad because Mark didn't take his hat when he sat down. Where does this kid think he is? Some LA beauty spa? He's at a BARBER SHOP. Another three star review said his cut was good by not "great" and he preferred "great" and missed the wash and dry. My advice to him is to go to a salon and pay $100+. Maybe they'll include a nice mani-pedi. My husband has been going to Mark for 8 or 9 years and has ALWAYS been happy. He likes the square crew cut and had a difficult time finding someone who could do it right. Mark and Renae know their craft and do it well. They raised their prices only once during that time, too. They jumped from an incredible $13 to an astonishing $15, and that was only because their rent was raised. They're fast, personable, and have some pretty incredible puzzles on the walls. So IMHO, anyone who disses them went to a barber instead of a salon or spa (with butlers). read more

The haircut I got here was horrible, I asked for a medium fade and I got the worst "fade" I've ever seen. When I asked the barber if he could fix it to a High fade, (I didn't want to tell him he did a shitty job) he said it would be too much work to do and that it could mess up the haircut. He did the haircut in about 15 min. Most barbers spend 30+ for a good fade and take care to blend the fade. The only reason I didn't just leave was because the haircut was only $12, but I guess I know now, you get what you pay for. read more

Last Friday afternoon I decided I wanted a haircut and I didn't want to make an appointment and looked it up on yelp and found they were open and they were only $15 for a haircut and I thought, what the heck let's give it a try. My first impression was one of fear. One guy in the shop by himself, a puzzle table in the middle of the barbershop, which made me think he probably kills a lot of time, playing puzzles and not working much. Then he told me it was cash only no Zelle no cash app or Venmo. Fortunately, I had 20 bucks in my wallet and sat down in his chair. He gave me a nice cut. I am very pleased. Johnnie's is a very laid back, no frills, family owned business that does in fact come with Ranae's hugs if you want one! It is not JUST a barber shop for men. They cut women's hair and probably children on occasion. The price CANNOT be beat! If you want the salon experience or the gentleman's shop, go somewhere else and pay the price. I still will not go anywhere else because I am getting the same cut for much less than what I was paying before AND I am a female! Probably be in tomorrow Ranae. I was on a road trip and found myself in the beautiful town of Kitty City in bad need of a haircut, I stumbled into Johnnie,s barber shop and was met at the door by Renae the shops owner as it turns out ( family business ) I was immediately taken by her combination of sexy and cuteness. I was taken right away and didnt even realize I was in the chair for 45 minutes it flew by she had a wonderful knowledge of hair styling and the town she worked in, she recommended restaurants and places to go and had a real sense of pride in her work and her city and the haircut was the best I have ever had. I can hands down recommend this shop to everyone I know. I showed up and wasnt greeted at the door. I asked if the "barber" had time for a cut and he smirked and asked me to sit down. I handed him my hat and he didn't take it so i sat it down beside the table. I asked for a small taper on the sides and a line up which is pretty much a very simple cut for a real barber. Happened to just get cut with a 1 on the sides and he ran a t liner on my forehead and sides. he got done in 2 minutes. He asked if that was it and i said if he could blend what he did because well I had asked for a taper. I walked away looking worse than I did when my hair wasn't cut. I could have easily messed my own hair up and paid myself 12 dollars. Well... Lesson learned. Guess that barber shop is strictly for elder folk. Shoulda known... Thats what happens when your personal barber doesnt have time for a cut. read more
