Very charming old building and a fun stop for book lovers. Small space so there wasn't a huge selection, but even so I found a couple books I wanted. It isn't a used bookstore so the prices are about average for brand new books. There was a sweet lady working the front desk and the overall atmosphere was quite nice. read more

Great local bookstore that has you coming back before your trip is over! Friendly staff, great selection of books (refreshingly including series that have all the books available for purchase in case you do like the first book), and great ambiance. They have a small selection of local art, and sell cute bookmarks and coasters. They also have a selection of knitting goods and books in the back of the store. I stopped by twice on my recent trip to Apalachicola, and I would have stopped by 3 times if they were open on Sundays. Definitely a must-stop for book lovers looking for a fun, well-loved bookstore. read more

Such a cute, quaint bookstore tucked away downtown! I enjoyed browsing the store with my 4 year old! There was a good selection of teen titles for my other children. My 4 year old, loved getting two new books and has since read them every night. I do wish they had a romance section of fiction books for adults, as they had a number of murder novels, but I don't read those kind. I don't know how to knit, but the back half of the store had beautiful yarn and supplies for knitting! It was a fun time at this little bookstore while being on vacation. We will surely be back! They have wonderful Yarn for Knitting and Crochet. Organic Cottons, Alpaca, merino Wool just to list a few fibers. Great books and best of all an outside beautiful garden with a Tabby Cat resident. read more

I found two GREAT books in this small book shop while on vacation. Since I love both books, I think the owners of this shop take great care in what they stock and put on the shelves. There were so many titles, many particular to the South, that caught my attention. There was a pretty garden area off the side of the shop with a cat or two lounging around. When I made my purchases, the shop owner was very chatty as she wrapped them up and offered to help me find any titles in the future. read more

Well-curated, small bookstore, a gem of the indie variety. The majority of books have a local Florida theme- beaches, nature, local history- but there is a section right up front with the newest best sellers as well. There is a great kids section with both board and paper books, and we picked up "Beach Babies Wear Shades" to take home to our little one as a souvenir. The seller was friendly but not pushy. There was also a separate section in the back solely dedicated to knitting- yarn, patterns, etc. We will be back! read more

By my take, this is the best bookstore in North Florida (excluding the Friends of the Library sale in Gainesville). Selection is small, and selling new books keeps prices up, but many of these new releases and specialty titles are likewise expensive elsewhere. Excellent local and regional selection (with inevitably strong nature and water and pine themes going)-- even has appealing recent releases from university presses such as UNC. For beach bums, some of the novels floating around on "best novels of the year" lists are right up front. Elegant estuary-themed stationary, beautiful children's books and gift books. Very friendly and knowledgable staff and a large selection of books, especially in the local history section. This has got to be my all-time favorite yarn store! Dale, the owner, will gladly help you with projects and will give you a guided tour of what's new in her shop. There's so much yarn that I've never seen before that I have to go in, take a look, go out and have lunch, and then come back to decide what to buy. I'm so overwhelmed by the sheer gorgeousness of the yarn and knitting books! And I love the bookshop too and have purchased many books at Downtown Books.
