ZERO STARS if I could.. I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share what happened during my visit to Downtown Bridal in hopes that it prevents another bride from experiencing what I went through. From the moment I arrived, I felt dismissed and disrespected.. particularly by my consultant, Andrea. Despite completing a lengthy online style quiz before my appointment and spending 45 minutes going over what I was looking for, none of the dresses selected for me reflected my requests. I was told they didn't carry anything like that.. only to later find that exact style on the rack myself. Throughout my appointment, it was implied more than once that I was "too big" for certain dresses. I was told multiple times a dress was "too small for me to try on" rather than them offering to clip or pin it to help me visualize. The entire appointment felt rushed and limited--I was only shown five dresses in an hour and a half. When I found the perfect dress myself.. the one I had been describing from the start, Andrea tossed it into the fitting room, left it zipped in the bag, and walked away without any help. In the middle of our emotional moment, me crying because I had finally found the dress... Andrea walked by holding a trash bag and sarcastically said, "Oh, so I guess you've found the one?" Her attitude immediately changed when I confirmed I wanted to buy it, which felt incredibly disingenuous. The aftermath was no better. When I spoke to the owner, Maria, to express how hurt and embarrassed I felt, I was met with disbelief. She offered a meager 5% discount (around $50) as if that would make up for being body-shamed and humiliated on what should have been one of the happiest experiences of my life. She later offered 10% if I agreed to use their alteration services (why would I want to give more money to a business that treated me this way?). Eventually, she rescinded all offers, claiming no wrongdoing after reviewing silent security footage ignoring the verbal comments witnessed not only by me, but by my mom and two members of my bridal party. To make matters worse, I found out my dress hadn't even been ordered despite being paid for in full. Maria tried to justify this by saying I hadn't confirmed I wanted to purchase it...again, despite having paid in full with my mom's credit card. She then said the dress was supposed to be ordered with a tariff, but she will let it go because her staffing did not do their job and that I should feel lucky and that she was meeting me in the middle with the 5% and that she had to eat the tariff pricing ...only for it to magically arrive two days later from their local warehouse that Andrea and her other consultant that was following Andrea around, stated to me when I picked up the dress that it was in the local warehouse that downtown bridal gets their dresses.. why would I had to have paid for tariff pricing? It's hard not to feel taken advantage of. This experience was not only disappointing--it was deeply hurtful. To be made to feel ashamed of your body, to be spoken down to, dismissed, and then gaslit by both a consultant and the owner is completely unacceptable. No one, especially a bride, should ever feel the way I felt that day. I'm sharing this so that others, especially women who may already feel insecure about their bodies, know what they're walking into. Downtown Bridal completely failed me. I will never recommend them to anyone. Brides deserve to feel beautiful, heard, and respected none of which happened here. read more

So to start with, I paid $260 for a Platinum experience. This was supposed to be a 3 hour private experience and was to come with a charcuterie, photo journal, fresh flower mini bouquet and a swag tote with goodies and a special gift. I had let them know in advance that I am plus size, told them my size, sent them designs I was interested in looking at. I made the appointment in June for September so that out-of-town guests could plan to fly in. I got there, my name was spelled wrong so not the best first impression. My party and I were sat in an area and left alone for some time while the consultants went to pull dresses. No one ever looked at my inspiration book. They came back, asked if we were ready to start and I was handed a dress and told I could go put it on. I had to ask for assistance, something I had not had to do at any salon prior to or since. Now granted, it was a size that would fit, but it was white, had no train, and no lace. It didn't have a single element I was looking for. They continued to pull A line/princess dresses with tulle skirts, which were opposite of what I wanted. Finally, my maid of honor went to go look for dresses as in her opinion, it was clear that my opinions were not being listened to. She found some that had what I was looking for and I tried them on. They were getting closer to what I wanted but again, were just missing that "wow" moment. Half the time, the stylist were nowhere to be seen while I was going over the dress with my party talking about what we liked, what we didn't. In the end, I only tried on 4-5 dresses and only 2 had elements I wanted, both of which were pulls by my maid of honor. Finally, my maid of honor found the designer and dress I said I was very interested in. It couldn't be tried on due to size but I was told they could see if a loaner could be gotten. After sitting for several minutes, they came back, handed me a tote bag, flowers and was told they would be in touch. The bag had a handful of chocolates in it and coupons for things like body treatments. I expected at some point I would get my photo journal emailed though I doubt there were going to many photos available given how often the consultants were away. A month later, I followed up as there had been no contact. I expressed my disappointment in the experience, that I was there maybe 2 hours, had very little enthusiasm from stylist, no photos provided and no follow up about the dress I really was interested in. I have had no response back to my email and I waited 4 days before deciding to post my review. Considering that I paid for a consultation, you would think they would have at least responded. read more

Wow! I love this place! The staff member, Chiara, helped me every step of the process. I got a cocktail dress for a Christmas party & and a gown for gala shoes, purse & jewelry that goes with both dresses & alterations all in 2 hours! (Fyi i was lucky to get the alterations while i waited, this was a rare opening). Im not a fan of shopping but the incredible staff made it a quick & painless experience. read more

I had a great experience buying my dress here with Suzie. However, I would not recommend this place for alterations. Even though I had two true fittings in the timeframe recommeded by the store, my dress still was not fitted correctly on my pick up day. On the day of pick up, they rushed to "fix" things. It was obvious on the day of my pickup that someone messed up the dress between the last fitting and the pickup day. There were major changes that were not seen on the fitting prior that were causing the dress not to fit properly on the top. They then rushed the supposed fixes. I was also told, oh you, can't see the underwire in the dress that showed up out of nowhere on the pickup day. Um, yes, in every single picture--you can see an underwire that is not meant to be seen. They also messed up the front to the point where it wouldn't lay correctly around the bustline or in the back. I paid a ridiculous amount of money in alterations and it appears that a trainee ended up doing the alterations. It is very upsetting to pay over 700 for alterations to have the store not care enough to not have an expert seamstress do the alterations correctly--and to the point where it actually affected the look of all of the wedding pictures. I tried to voice my concerns on the day of pick up and one of the "trainees" kept brushing off my concerns. read more

They were attentive, responsive, and made me feel beautiful in a moment that feels really revealing and felt high stakes. And I found the perfect dress, that I can tweak and really make my own. I loved everything about it (and the platinum package is well worth the money-- the Cake Art cake tasting, bubbly, and charcuterie board made everything playful and such a treat). Downtown bridal made my wedding dress experience a dream come true! The facility was so beautiful and welcoming as soon as you walk in. I came in to the bridal shop not really knowing what I was looking for. Susie, my consultant made my experience easy, stress free and so exciting. She made me feel so confident every time I tried on each one of the dresses I picked out, she made me love my body with every single dress we tried. As someone who has been to 7 stores to look for my perfect dress, I can say with confidence and a bit of shopping background that my experience was superior! I worked with Suzy who was absolutely wonderful. She was incredibly friendly, genuine, and intuitive to my style. She was easy to talk to and we found ourselves bonding over our love for Taylor Swift and joking together throughout the process. She made it her mission to figure out exactly what I was looking for, and she nailed it. Everything she pulled for me was beautiful and we had to take a bit of time to narrow down my favorites because she did so well pulling dresses I love! The store had a very large selection of dresses, and I loved that I was able to walk around with her to pick out dresses alongside her. A lot of stores don't do that, and I feel that it helps give the bride some control to be able to see the inventory instead of relying only on the stylist. It helps give the stylist a better idea of what the bride likes, as well. Although I didn't end up picking my dress from this store, I would HIGHLY recommend it (and especially my stylist Suzy) to everyone! read more

WOW is all I can say about the selection here. We made a last minute appt here to try in dresses while visiting some family members. I'm from DC and was dreading bridal shopping at home because of markups and high pressure sales. This place was great. I went through and picked what I wanted (10 or more) and the staff was very helpful. My only complaints are the small dressing rooms, which made it hard to change into bigger dresses; the lack of seating for my guests; and the fact that there were no shoes to try on with (but I should have rememered and brought my own). You need to check out this bridal shop--don't go to a "big" shop when Salisbury has a ton to offer! read more

When I was originally planning this review, I was going to give it the lowest rating possible. However, after receiving my dress, I changed my mind...but only a little. A friend of mine chose this location to get her bridesmaids' dresses for her upcoming wedding. It wasn't exactly convenient for me, but I trusted her word and didn't have any problems trying it out. The first time we visited in fall 2015, myself and two other bridesmaids of different body shapes tried on a TON of dresses until the bride came to a solid conclusion. Our consultant was pretty attentive during the appointment and made some good suggestions. It was a little disheartening that they didn't have more options for plus sizes, but it happens and I expected as such. As we were getting our final measurements, things took a turn. The consultant took the measuring tape across my chest, my waist, and my hips which was all standard procedure. As she was writing down the measurements, she said "Oh no. You've measured out to about three different sizes. This," (at this point she gestured towards my body) "is going to be a problem. I'll have to order the largest size and get everything altered." I am a size 18 which, if my research proves correct, is a pretty common occurrence in our world today so I'm not quite sure why I was treated like a fashion anomaly. I was taken aback by her unfiltered comment, but didn't say anything. I left the shop feeling unsure and unhappy with myself more than feeling happy that we had found a beautiful gown that worked well with everyone. We paid for the dresses and proceeded to move on with our lives. I later learned that another bridesmaid (she's around a size 6) received a similar comment from the consultant, but that she had been much more pleasant to my friend about her size. Fast forward four and a half months since we ordered our dresses and not a word had been heard from the shop regarding the status of the order. The wedding was only a month and a half away. The bride called the shop and asked for an update. The woman she spoke to was kind and affirmed that the dresses would be in by that following Saturday, a day myself and another bridesmaid had set aside specifically to pick up our purchases. Later that week, the bride called again to make sure the dresses were at the location. Again, the consultant told her that they had arrived and were waiting for us in their storage room. Having not known the bride had already checked in, I myself called the shop to see if we needed an appointment to pick them up. The consultant I spoke to was short, but nice, and assured me that, although the shop would be busy on Saturday and we may need to wait, there would be no problems receiving our dresses. My friend traveled nearly 3 hours to get to my home and the two of us traveled an additional 3 hours to get to Patsy's Bridal. When we walked into the shop and asked for our dresses, the consultant looked at us like we had grown another head. "I don't know what you're talking about." She said. "No one should have confirmed they were here because they aren't." Our consultant from our first appointment came around the corner. I had full expectations that she would enter the conversation since this was her original sale. Wrong. She looked at us and simply stated, "I don't know how this happened." and walked away, leaving us with someone who had no idea of our original order. I explained that there was no way the two of us would be able to make a return trip and that we would like them shipped to our homes once they arrived at the shop. The salesperson was reluctant to ship them (I honestly don't think she would have agreed to had I not persisted further), but agreed to as long as we covered the shipping cost. I was so disgusted with the whole thing that we agreed to pay as long as we could avoid a third trip to the shop. Since then, my dress has arrived and, although the size 24 label made me incredibly nervous, I have to admit that the original consultant was right. It fits very well and needs minimal alterations and arrived quickly. The fabric is great and the quality outstanding. But it was not enough to cover up the pretty awful customer service our party received on both instances. I have read other reviews on this location and maybe they were just having an off couple of days when we visited. But I feel as though there should have been more care taken, especially when we went to pick up the dresses only to have our orders confirmed on multiple occasions and leave empty-handed. Like I said, maybe just a bad day, but I won't be back. read more
