November 5, 2024 Downtown Auto Group Dear Downtown Auto Group, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the handling of an ongoing and serious transmission issue with my 2022 Ford Transit 350 High Roof , which has only 110,000 kilometres. The lack of support and accountability from Downtown Ford has been frustrating and disappointing. Background of Issue In early August, I brought my van to Sacha at Downtown Ford, where a transmission valve body issue was diagnosed. Sacha informed me that sourcing the necessary part would be exceptionally difficult, likening it to "searching for a unicorn." However, I was reassured that it was safe to continue driving the van, advice that proved disastrous when the transmission failed over Labor Day Weekend. After limping the van back to Downtown Fleet Services, I left it for repairs. Unfortunately, Downtown Ford could not locate the necessary part, so I undertook the search myself, ultimately finding the part with the help of a client at a dealership in Manitoba. Though it took a week for the part to arrive, I was provided with a rental vehicle, which was inconvenient but understandable. Service and Communication Issues I was initially promised that the van would be ready by September 12, 2024. However, upon calling that day, I was told it was still not ready. After returning from a wedding on September 16, the van was still not repaired, requiring yet another rental. Despite numerous calls, I received no definitive updates until September 23, when I was informed it was finally ready. Upon returning the rental, the service light came on only a block from Downtown, forcing me to leave the van again for further repairs. Two days later, I was told that the van was ready once more. This time, I was advised to treat the van gently as if it were new, breaking in the transmission gradually. When I asked if the van had undergone a proper road test, I was told it had only been driven around the lot. As a non-mechanic, I believe that a thorough road test is necessary to ensure the van meets Ford's safety standards before being returned to me. Further Failures and Safety Concerns On September 27, while transporting clients' dogs, the transmission failed again in the middle of a busy intersection, triggering the service light. I was forced to call for roadside assistance to have it towed for further diagnosis. Upon speaking with the service manager at Donway Ford, I was told that a proper road test should have been conducted, covering at least 100 kilometers to confirm that repairs met safety requirements. Supporting Documentation and Lack of Proper Testing This email includes Downtown Ford's instructions from Sasha on adaptive transmission procedures. I should not have been expected to carry out these instructions, especially as they involve resetting computer codes, a process I cannot perform. I have also attached scanned documents from Polito Ford, which detail their technicians' diagnosis, parts ordered, and repairs undertaken to make my van roadworthy. Impact on Business and Urgent Need for Resolution This persistent transmission issue has compromised my vehicle's performance, posed safety risks, and severely impacted my business. The unreliability of a vehicle that represents an $80,000 investment is jeopardizing my business and brand. Request for Resolution I urge you to address this matter promptly and provide a thorough response detailing how you intend to resolve this issue. I am especially concerned about the lack of proper judgment demonstrated by your service team, including Vic, Sacha, and the mechanic who serviced the van. Their actions have not only risked my safety but also the safety of others on the road. I will follow up with a phone call later this week to discuss a suitable resolution. The next day they told me that they can not get the parts for 2 weeks but I approved the repair. * After doing some research, I found the parts from multiple Mopar licensed distributors, next day shipping for 30% less then their quote. I brought this to their attention (hopping to get my car back sooner then 2 weeks) and they advised me to order the parts and deliver them to their shop (seriously). * After * At this point, I asked for my car back (which was delivered to them with 125 km left before shut off and they told me that the car only had 14km left (not enough to get it home and take it to a new shop).2 weeks had passed with no real update, I requested a loaner car from the dealership. I was told that even though I am entitled to one, I would not be getting one because they are all in usein use. My car has been sitting in their service bay for 3 days now and there has been next to zero communication initiated by the dealership. The customer is never right. Women beware! Most of us expect to be provided with good customer service as consumers, how much more do we expect that when purchasing our new car? My sales rep was very attentive leading up to me purchasing the vehicle. I messaged him 2 days after having the car because I heard a rattling sound in the front end. He said I should bring it in for them to look at it. I told him I'd watch it for alittle longer just to make sure. When I was certain there was a problem I notified him. He assured me nothing was wrong but that I should bring it in for them to look at it. I thought, "He isn't the one driving the car so how could he know that there was no problem?" Especially after i described the problem i was having. This is when I started feeling as if they don't care. I went to my appointment and again explained what I thought the problem was. I waited there for over an hour expecting that the problem would be dealt with. The same Sales rep came back to me and said "Congratulations there is nothing wrong with the car" I couldn't believe what I was being told! I told him no, there is definitely something wrong with the car based on the rattling sounds and vibration I was feeling on the bad, pothole riddled roads. I then went on a ride with one of the mechanics at the location...I pointed out some of the sounds I heard and showed him an issue with the steering wheel. After getting back I expected them to do another inspection. I was told that all the sounds I heard were normal and I was dismissed. Feeling frustrated and defeated, I drove to my mechanic, explained the issue. It took my mechanic took 10 mins to figure out the problem simply because he listened to me. I messaged the rep at the dealership and asked when can come back in for the problem to be resolved? I was informed that the company mechanics have checked, there is no problem with the car and that they will do nothing further. He told me the only thing left to do was to contact the general manager. I told him the whole story and ended up having to give personal information just to get him to allow me to bring my car in for another review. I came back and explained what my mechanic's diagnosis. The person who took the car on the road test with me was completely negating everything I described and told me again that everything was fine. I eventually called my mechanic and made he explain everything I said, and all of a sudden the dealership's mechanic started listening and accepting the problem. In the end the issue was resolved but only after extensive inconvenience to myself. I live over 1hr and 20 mins drive each way from the dealership. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN SERVICE SINCE DECEMBER 16th. This was after TWO visits in October and again at the end of November where it was in their care for TWO WEEKS each visit. They told me "they don't know what the issue is", released the vehicle to me and then it had to be immediately towed back to their facility AS IT STOPPED motion on a busy downtown street. Apparently, they were then able to figure out the issue but no one contacted me to let me know what the issue actually was until January! I take my Jeep here for service out of proximity to my work and I am seriously thinking of going elsewhere. The service department is just pathetic and I find myself completely frustrated every time I have any service. Take this for example. Two weeks ago, I was in for a regular oil change. I said there is also another problem that needs fixed. When I pick up the vehicle, they shrug and say they could not replicate the problem. Of course, that day, I can't make the problem appear either. The next day, the problem comes back. I'm swamped and can't get back there for a couple of weeks. It takes time to drop off and pick up your vehicle, hence the reason I was frustrated two weeks ago. I make an 8:00 am appointment for today and drop off the vehicle letting them know I need to pick it up for lunchtime. By noon, they call and say they haven't even looked at my vehicle yet. WTH. Why do I even bother making an 8:00 am appointment if they're not going to look at it until mid-afternoon?! They said they'll try to have it ready by 2pm. We're closing in on 3pm here and I have to somehow go pick up my kid from day care and they're still mucking around. WHY?!!?!?!!??!?!?!?! On a somewhat related note, the employees seem to be unhappy overall. When I was there 2 weeks ago, the two people in the service reception were miserable, continued their conversation when I arrived/waited...then started typing on their computers like I wasn't even there. I finally said "hi" and the female said "yeah, I'll be right with you". Feels like you are a welcomed and valued customer, lol! If there was a "ZERO" star option on here, that's what I'd be rating them. An update! So they didn't fix my Jeep that day. They could have, if they had looked at it before mid-afternoon! I went to pick it up in rush hour and realized that they really don't give a crap. They're indifferent to customer's frustrations. My time is basically worthless to them. I have all the time in the world to drop off/pick up my vehicle, multiple times. They really don't care if customers are happy or not. This is not the first time that the service at Front Street Chrysler has been awful. It's every time. It takes a minimum of 3 to 4 visits to get the smallest issue fixed. On your first visit, they'll deny there is an issue ("cannot replicate problem"). On the second visit, they'll ignore your vehicle (especially if it's warranty work) until late in the day and then confirm there's a problem but oops, it's too late to get parts. Went to purchase a new car there. I received a call from the Credit manager who asked me to come down. I asked him if he could talk to me on the phone first. He said he couldnt and that I needed to come down. When I got there he told me I could possibly be approved but that I would need to pay 9.5% interest with TD Bank. First of all TD bank would never charge 9.5% and secondly I would not have paid 9.5%. I explained that I could pay cash for the car and not finance it. I will buy the SUV only not at DT Jeep. When I went for recall service they started recommending all kinds of unnecessary "top ups" including an oil change... I had one 2 weeks ago with ALL of these services as it says on the windshield sticker. It's shameful that they try to extort money from poor people ESPECIALLY with Covid-19 making work so scarce. Strike 2: Went into the service centre for a simple second opinion on a quote that I got from a third-party dealer. They suggested they would charge a $60 service fee just to quote the price. They would waive it if I went ahead with the repair however I didn't know what the cost would be, and I already knew what was wrong with my vehicle. I actually sold my Jeep and have no interest in another Chrysler product largely due to their service department. I won't bother going into all the details, but as the most convenient location for anyone who lives and/or works downtown, I often dropped my Jeep off here for anything from routine maintenance to larger repair jobs. Not only does it take them ages to get around to working on the vehicle, but 90% of the time after paying and driving home, the issue repeats itself. I've had squeaks that have led to new fan belts (pick up the car days later and it's obviously still squealing), leading to another bill for diagnostic time, and another bill for a new water pump, and still more squeaking. I know a lot of service departments work on commission, but this place takes it to a whole new level. At first I thought I was having bad luck between the vehicle and/or service advisor, but after talking to other people in the area/at work I've come to realize that this very common. One friend had to bring it in 3 times for a transmission issue while the bills racked up. Another friend 2 times and counting for vibrations in the steering wheel. It's almost like they change out a part, bill you, and don't even bother test driving it themselves. Anyway, ended up trading in my Jeep for a BMW which was in roughly the same price range and couldn't be happier. I literally sleep better at night. read more

I would have to agree with the initial review of this place. Came in today for a standard oil change in their express service. They called and said the air filter and cabinet filter needed replacing. Being too lazy to do it myself, I said go for it. Then the bill comes and they charge almost a full hour for the labour. Are you serious? 5 minutes is what it takes for a novice to replace these filters. To be honest I don't care that much about the cost. The issue is their attitude. The entire staff ganged up around me to tell me how wrong I was. Terrible customer service. As someone who understands the financials of a dealer and how important service/parts revenue is to their survival, I am shocked they treat people this way. Rude, arrogant, and completely disengaged. This location is suppose to have a 5 Star Rating from the corporation. That's simply not possible. The experience I had was horrible from start to finish. $1500 worth or 'repairs' and I pick up my jeep - it's dirtier than when I left it and the glove compartment is literally dangling from one corner of itself in the car. They fixed that but then I had to return the vehicle for every item they touched. Lights, engine light, fan system, muffler. The muffler for example was brand new they claim. Canadian Tire inspected it and said it should be taken back to Jeep immediately - it's broken and should not have been put on the vehicle. The light blew a few days later again. etc. etc.. The staff was unpleasant. The atmosphere was actually 'angry' and unpleasant every time I went there. I just purchased my 2019 Jeep Wrangler two weeks ago at this location was very impressed with the service I got. It's my first Jeep purchase and before coming to Downtown Chrysler (Front St., Toronto) I had visited 2 other Jeep dealers and was unimpressed with the other locations. Despite the Yelp reviews here?... I had found a link to many 5 star - positive reviews about this location and decided it was worth paying them a visit. Ideally, I was looking for not only a great dealership, with the car that I wanted but, also the "service and community" that I wanted. My sales consultant, Kyle McGuigan -was absolutely awesome. He went above and beyond to find the right vehicle in my price range. Kyle was very knowledgeable and took great care of me. He was patient and trustworthy. ALL of my other interactions with the managers, Alex Yau, Michael Kakish & Charles Gordon were also VERY positive. After geting my new keys... I went and spoke with the gentlemen in service department afterwards to find out timelines and costs about caring for my new vehicle and he was also super friendly and nice. Reception team = also SUPER nice. I have ZERO complaints about this dealership and would highly recommend checking them out. They have a great selection, a knowledgeable team that in my opinion. Kyle especially went above and beyond customer care I was looking for. Make an appointment with him if you're looking to test drive. I was involved in a small collision in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and my car was in and out of the service department from April 2019 until last Wednesday, April 1st. There were many problems most of which should have been addressed when the car was first brought into service. Last January 10th I picked up my car and paid my $500.00 obligation as well as $3113.66 that my insurance company, State Farm, had agreed to pay. My service technician confirmed that I would receive a refund when the State Farm check came in. I was eager to retrieve my car and was willing to agree to this financial outlay. Downtown CDJR has been fully paid by both State Farm and me. My $3,113.66 has not been refunded in all these months and I continually encounter excuses and lies from the agency. Downtown Chryslers service center is terrible. Everytime I took my Jeep in to get serviced I would pick it up and a new warning light would go on. Each time they said it was unrelated to their work but recently I had to take the car in 4 times. Once the bill reached $5,500 I lost confidence in them. Stay away from this dealership!!! read more

I did my homework before buying/servicing my car (I checked out Downsview chrysler and woodbine chrysler) and Toronto chrysler was not only more professional, but significantly cheaper. I bought a vehicle from here last year. I had no problem with my salesperson and I've had no problems with the service department (who I've admittedly only visited once). The only problem I have with this dealership is the sleezeball business manager, Dave. Walking into his office I was greeted with (talking at 100 miles/hr) "...so since this is such a great vehicle I've gone ahead and included the [highest level] warranty for you..." and then proceeded to move onto something else, forcing me to interrupt him to enable my say in the matter. Although he likely has lots of success upselling warranties with this approach, it's a dirty tactic that I'm sure bothers plenty of consumers. During the rest of our conversations he managed to include every insulting sales cliche I've ever heard. Gems like "oh don't worry it's not going to cost you much, it's like a cup of coffee a day." So in summary, I don't dislike the dealership as a whole but that one bad experience with the business manager will cost them any potential future business from me and anyone I know. read more

I bought a $73K Jeep Grand Cherokee over here and they scratched the rear right fender, so with all the patience in the world i took the vehicle in for them to repair the scratch, as well as do the oil change, tire rotation and fix the tail-gate opener as it was not beeping anymore when you opened it and closed it. At a minimum i would have expected them to give me a car to drive in the meantime or at least pay for the car rental - i was basically left out to fend for myself and rent a vehicle at my own cost.... what should have taken 2 days is now on its fourth day and i am still paying for my rental - even though they were at fault here. My wife has a used BMW she bought from the Beamer dealership near our house for a fifth of the cost and they always give her a loaner vehicle when she has had to leave her car at the shop for a long period of time. This is too bad, as it is the second brand new Jeep I have bought from here. I am for sure never returning to this dealership ever again - maybe it is a manufacturer's policy not to keep your client driving something else so he can earn a living while they fix his car for things he was not liable at all. I lease a Jeep Wrangler. We added the Gold Star bumper to bumper warranty, which at the time we acquired it included a wind-shield replacement. My wife was driving it on the highway when a truck kicked up a rock and caused a chip in the wind-shield. We called in to make an appointment and told the reception, Wendy, the situation and that we need an oil change/check up too. No problem bring it in. I bring it in the following morning. The parts counter guy comes out takes a look and says that it needs replacing. I say sure thing. We go inside, I confirm that the only thing I'll be paying for is the $29.95 detailing I requested and when can I expect to pick it up. End of day. Perfect. I come back at the end of the day and counter guy says that'll be $700. I say, I think there's a mistake, this is covered under my warranty. Some confusion occurs and Dave comes out. Long story short, Dave says pay the $700 or we keep your vehicle. Dave does very little to find out if it is actually covered under the warranty saying that it's not their problem. Couple things here. I ask to see the estimate/quote. They can't provide one, because they never gave me one. Two, I'm pretty certain that a business cannot hold your property in lieu of payment, kind of illegal, but I could be wrong. Dave was not helpful at all. I ended up leaving without my vehicle. 4 days later and dealing with the dealership where we got the Jeep from (side note, they are awesome http://www.wellingtonmotors.ca/), the wind-shield is covered. My wife goes to pick up the Jeep and sure enough Dave is curt and impolite to her. Class act that guy Dave. My advice, don't go to this dealership. I brought my car here after purchasing it four days prior at another Jeep dealership. Something happened with my brakes the third day I was driving it and I didn't feel comfortable driving it an hour away back to the dealership if there was a brake issue. When I made the service appointment I made it clear that I was under warranty still but at my other dealership. When I got there the guy at the service counter (Shiraz Bhanji) was asking me questions with more attitude than was necessary at 8am and then he rudely asked me more than once why I was there. 'Why are you here, you didn't buy your car here'. I responded saying I didn't feel comfortable driving back to Whitby since I had almost run through a stop sign the day before. Finally he said he would check it out and told me there would be an inspection fee of $49.50. I got a call later on saying my vehicle was ready for pick up and the brakes passed the safety test luckily. He reminded me that I'd have to pay the inspection fee of $79.50 when I picked it up. I said, earlier today the form you showed me said $49.50 - he responded with 'ya we can do that'. BE aware when walking into this dealership, they definitely treat you like you do not know anything, and WILL try to over charge you read more

Bought my brand spanking new 2015 vehicle here in late 2014. Supposed to be an awesome experience right? Review my bank records a few weeks after delivery of my vehicle, turns out Charles in Finance has backdated the loan documents 6 weeks prior to the vehicle being delivered, built, nor even in Canada. I take responsibility for not catching the error on signing, but in what world would you even expect that kind of delinquency? Management did make it right, when they realized they were going to lose many years of service dollars, way in excess of my 3 car payments, which brings me to issue number two. I ask for a quote on what I know to be a half hour job. I've worked in the business. I get back a quote that is the equivalent of 6+ hours at a mechanics rate when this job can be done by the kid in the shop that is making minimum wage??? So you want me to pay $642 for a half an hour job? That's all I needed to know about the ethics of the service team. You've got to be able to trust the people that are servicing the vehicle that keeps you and your family safe. Two strikes you're out. Massive ethical and moral fail, in service and in sales. I went in for a sales event and then spoke with a sales rep, Adonis, who then recommended I go for a preapproval. Okay, right? Sounds fine to me, so they take down my information and my SIN, credit card info, etc..., to take a look in my credit file. So, they run my credit bureau and lo and behold, I don't hear back. I'm being cautious with this review as it was my first visit. I hope what I experienced will be the norm despite what I have been reading. I went for a visit regarding a recall. Wendy at service took care of me and she was great from the moment I called for an appointment to the time she delivered the keys back to me. I did get snagged by a salesman while I was waiting and he was quite congenial despite striking out with me. I'll go back and I will make every effort to deal with Wendy when I do. read more

Shitty dealership to deal with. I own a 2013 Ram with 51,000 Kms on it. I bring it in for service 2 weeks ago for an oil change. Upon arrival, I'm informed by Vish who is a service advisor that I need to have a transmission service and 4wd service done at 50,000. This seems weird to me, but I go along without reading my service manual as I should have. It states that this does not have to be done until 96,000 Kms. Fucking rip off artists. It cost me almost $800 which I will never get back. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this crooked dealership. I like to flip trucks every 4-5 years and they will never get another penny out of me. If your looking for great service in Toronto, do yourself a favour and call Calvin at Islington Chrysler. He's a great guy to deal with and he was puzzled as to why a dealership went against the service intervals. read more

With my purchase of a 2014 Jeep Patriot in January of 2014 I was given a certificate promising $12 oil changes........what a JOKE!!!!!! with this deal they fail to advise you that in order for this promotion , you are also required numerous other services that are actually not necessary be completed with your required 5k oil change.. At the 10k oil change they require that they must rotate your tires, and at 20k they require that you purchase the oil flush from them as well. Both the oil flush and tire rotation are to be included at prices which are substantially higher than the price of the service anywhere else, and having spoken to numerous mechanics at other locations.......................not even necessary any time near when they require that they be done!!!!! They certainly get an A for effort in the trying to rip people off department, and the sarcastic , rude idiot trying to sell you these services,, will certainly make you feel as though you don't know what you're talking about, especially if you are a woman, Well Habib........news flash, some woman know enough to go elsewhere for other opinions from actual mechanic!!! I brought my Grand Cherokee in for the ABS warning light. I specifically tell the service advisor the ABS sensors were changed when both front wheel hubs were replaced in the last few weeks. He calls me to tell the error is with the right front sensor circuit and they are going to change the sensor. I said new sensors came with the front hub unit as told him when I dropped it off. He argues with me and I tell him to talk to his parts guys and call me back. He calls to say I was correct and that it must be in the wiring. He says 2hrs to diagnose, which ended up just being a bad connector ($30 part). I told them to go ahead and at the same time to change the oil while it was there. I pick up the Jeep just before closing and don't pay attention to the bill as it seems about right for what they quoted. I get home and check the bill before filing it and noticed they overcharged me for a quart of oil (charged me for 6 instead of 5). Only a few dollars extra, but it really peeved me. I thought they couldn't be that stupid to try and gouge for an extra quart - it would be too obvious to get caught. I was right, they are not that stupid, but dumb enough to mistake my 3.7L V6 for the 4.7 V8, which takes an extra quart of oil. Mistakes happen and I worked as a heavy truck mechanic putting myself through university so I have made the mistake of over-filling a few times, but none ever left the shop since I always checked level. Not this dealership! They simply dump the oil in and don't check anything. The next morning I call the service advisor who didn't know that ABS sensors come in all new hub assemblies (OEM and aftermarket) to express my dissatisfaction. He says bring it in and they will removed the excess oil. When ask them to check for any blow-by from over-filling since I drove home and back, and if so they were changing the PCV valve and if needed cleaning the throttle body. He had no clue what I was talking about, so I insisted on speaking with the tech, who understood. All was fine, except no offer to even reimburse me for the $3-4 for the quart of oil, or maybe doing the decent thing and giving me next oil change for free. And they wonder why dealerships get a bad name. I'm sure the techs are fine, but they need to improve the service advisors. Never planning on going back for service. I have ordered a few things from the parts department when in a bind and only OEM available. read more

Went in with full intention to lease a 2016 Grand Cherokee Limited or Special Addition. Sales person was nice. Test drove 1 car (Overland version). Sales rep tried to upsell us (they always do don't they!) on this next level car from what we wanted, but we inquired about the lease rate for this one anyway. Sales rep goes to speak with manager to try and lower price to range of Limited edition. Manager came in and shut down the sales rep and us by quoting outrageous lease rates without even asking about terms and what our down payment would be. Told us in a round about way that we can't afford their luxury product. Basically walked us out the door without even offering alternatives. I already had conversations (via email) with the sales rep prior to our visit and was even quoted on a Limited that was within the range we were looking to pay. Manager would have none of it so our transaction was done. Did not want to talk or negotiate anything. We were at end of lease with a 2014 Mercedes GLK which cost more than the Jeep we were looking at! We can afford the product but the (manager) had no intention to deal with us for some unknown reason. So dismissive and rude. I felt bad for the sales rep. It was embarrassing for him. They lost a deal today as we were in there to lease right away! We will go to another dealership and they will get our dollars. read more
