Very disappointing customer service. I had previously asked if I could pick my car up first thing the following morning after having the service completed, and the service rep on the phone agreed, saying they would store the car overnight. Later that afternoon I received a call from the owner, who said her employee "didn't know anything" and threatening that I "needed to come pick the car up in 45 minutes or I would be charged $100 fee for keeping the car overnight". This process was frustrating, and required me to leave work early with very little notice, all while I had been informed earlier in the day that picking up the car the next day would be fine. read more

The service and people were pleasant to work with and the work was done well but their rates are exorbitant. I elected to go there as I was looking for a local mechanic and Midas on Bathurst is within walking distance of my home. My time is limited and my brakes were in desperate need of repair and my oil needed to be changed. An associate there mentioned that brake service should cost $6-700 when I was booking my appointment. Once I had the dropped off my car and I got an estimate the cost for the brake job on my Subaru Impreza was almost $1800. I reluctantly agreed to get the service done. After my service I contacted Subaru to get a competitive price for the pads and rotors. Midas charged close to $400 more. They have coupons on line for both oil changes and brakes but neither were mentioned when I was providing my estimate. read more

Starting with Sheila, who I remembered from an earlier appointment, and down to the mechanics who assisted in the repairs to my 2012 Equinox, I could not be happier. Sheila is always cheerful, welcoming and very efficient. As the Kiwis say, 'She is no ordinary Sheila'! The mechanics explained everything to me including showing me the old parts and why they exchanged them! Having become totally disillusioned with Canada Tire, I am so glad I returned to Midas Bathurst and Bloor. Right down to the accurate estimates including photos, and from the great welcome and checkout, this was a refreshing experience from 'Canada's garage', which will never see me again! this place is beyond brutal - I dropped my car off at 8am for a TIRE change, which I had discussed with two employees there. they call me at 4pm saying my OIL change is done and charged me 211 for something I didn't ask for. they didn't even change my tires when there were tires in my car and I had scheduled a tire change a week ago and spoke to the girl at the front named Cathy about a tire change not an oil change the manager syed was rude attempted to gaslight me in to thinking I had not had that conversation with the woman working earlier. really disappointing especially since car shops tend to take advantage of younger women and upsell and lie to them about issues that aren't actually there. would not suggest going here. read more

I came to this location due to the reviews on Yelp. I was happy with the service. They were honest and fair with the prices. They gave me a few suggestions of things I could do and how much they would cost, but absolutely no pressure to do anything when I said no thanks. Both times I went there the person at the cash desk was incredibly friendly and chatted with me for a bit. The first time I went I dropped my car off in the morning and was going to wait for them to do the work. They had a few other appointments ahead of me so I was going to go for breakfast and do some shopping on Bloor to pass the time. It turns out that he had a cancellation or two and knew I was in the area so worked on my car right away as he knew I was in the area. I thought that was really nice of them! The only complaints: -You usually have to book a few days ahead (but I guess that may be normal in Toronto) -They suggest you drop your car off in the morning and come back to get it later. I usually need my car for work as I drive all over the place, so that can be a bit inconvenient read more

The guys at Midas at Bloor and Bathurst have been really great to me! They have helped a lot with my Chevy express van and got me out of trouble when I was in a pinch, helping get me back on the road in a hurry when they were really booked up. Their service is thorough and customer service is great. I highly recommend them to anyone. read more

These guys are robbers. I went in there because my car battery died when it was -22°, it was 8 years old and I knew I'd need a new one anyways. They quoted me at over $400 for the Battery and also said my alternator needed replacing. I told him the reason the car didn't start was it was -22°, and he insisted it was the alternator because of some test that they charged me $65 for. I laughed at them and said Canadian tire sells the same batteries for $200. I got in my car (it started because the alternator was charging the battery) and drove to a local garage on Queen Street that a friend recommended. He charged me $210 for the battery with installation and told me my alternator was fine. I understand be a little more expensive for convenience but double the price and trying to tell me something needs replacing that's working perfectly well? read more

I made an appointment two weeks ago today . I came to Midas place where my appointment was . She said that might take a couple of hours . And I said but I mad an appointment . The lady in the reception by computer said to me that even though you made an appointment still take that long . And I said wow. That not right . That's what appointment was so that they can take care of you right away . And I even came half an hour early . And that is at 11:30 something today . And it is 2:47 now and still nothing yet . STAY AWAY!!! On October 17th, I contacted Midas to make an appointment to have my vehicle inspected as the check engine light had come on. I also had a loose plastic cover in the undercarriage of the vehicle that needed to be re-fastened. I dropped the vehicle off at 4:25 pm. The following day (October 18th), I had not received any updates from Midas about my vehicle. In the afternoon at 2:18 pm, I decided to give them a call myself. I spoke to a gentleman who was surprised to hear that no one had called me (as they were allegedly supposed to) and that he had bad news. I was then informed that my vehicle had been broken into, the passenger side window had been smashed, and that there was glass and my personal belongings strewn across the front seat area. The mechanic assured me that the window would be repaired. He also mentioned that this has happened before on their lot and suggested that this would be a learning lesson for him that Midas should not be accepting customer vehicles if they do not have space indoors to store them. At this time I mentioned that my iPod Touch was in the vehicle, but there was no confirmation if it was there or not. I was told that I would be contacted again later that day with an update and they would be trying to have the vehicle ready by end of day. Again, I received no call from Midas. The next morning (October 19th), I again had to call Midas myself for an update. I was told that the replacement window they ordered had been dropped and broken by the delivery person and that they were awaiting another delivery. The mechanic told me that I would be contacted when the vehicle was ready. Again, no call was ever received. I called again in the afternoon and was told that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. Upon arrival, I determined that my iPod Touch was indeed missing. My partner and I were invited into the shop area to speak with two managers. When I shared that I felt that I should receive reimbursement for my stolen contents, my partner and I were met with aggression and told that, verbatim, "I could have told you 'screw you' and not paid for the window." My partner and I proceeded back to the reception area to pay the $142 diagnostic bill, obviously very upset by the experience we just had. The man then proceeded back inside as well, watching us and then added "I checked the vehicle before, there was no iPod in there" with a very disrespectful tone and offensive smirk, implying that I am lying. My partner and I paid and left the premises with my vehicle. I can now report that the window is not functioning properly - it does not close and stays stuck until the button is pressed open/close several times. As a result, I will never bring my vehicle for any type of service to Midas again. This has left an extremely poor taste in my mouth and I've been left in a worse situation than I was in before I brought the vehicle to Midas, and out over $150. The behaviour exhibited by their mechanics was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and antagonistic. They implied that it was my responsibility to not only replace my stolen contents, but that they were doing me a huge favour by replacing the window. Furthermore, the expert service that was done on my vehicle is incomplete (at best). My advice? Stay very, very, very far away from Midas at 769 Bathurst Street, Toronto. read more

So, after coming to the shocking realization that my car was too old to be taken to a dealership, I went looking for a mechanic. This process is painstaking and living downtown doesn't help. It seems everyone who "knows a guy" has their guy about an hour and a half out of town. Which is great unless you have to tow it there. Bah. I had just received what I believed to be an outrageous quote for work from a dealership and figured I had to be able to do better. The sad part was that my car was already at the dealership. A quick call to my buddy and he suggested going to a Midas Muffler place, so a quick Google found the one closest to me. One phone call later and I was talking to Ilan the manager. When I told him what was quoted at the dealership, he let me know that if he was going to charge that much, there'd be way more work he'd be able to do. So, I called the dealership, stopped work on the car, and yanked it out of there to take it to Midas. The work was done the next day (as promised) and true to his word, the work was not only cheaper than the dealership, but he replaced a cracked belt and burnt out headlight as well. A perfect introduction to a great member of the Midas franchise. I believe I've found my mechanic now. read more

I researched many different auto shops after 4 years of owning my car, and the dealer maintenance package expiring. Mainly, I was looking for an autobody shop/mechanic: 1. To be reliable 2. To be honest (and not sell me a service/part that was unnecessary) 3. To be proactive in helping me manage any foreseeable future issues with an aging car 4. To be friendly and polite 5. To be easily transit accessible (ie: not isolated in a part of town that would be impossible to get to after dropping my car off) 6. To be open early in the morning and offer evening hours. I read a lot of reviews on the internet and landed at MIDAS Bathurst. My first thought was the cheesy commercials I had seen on TV as a child but I put aside my bias, based on reviews of excellent customer service at this location. I have been a faithful customer of MIDAS Bathurst for 4 years now. They do my regular seasonal tire and oil change each season and are priced very reasonably. They are reliable, efficient and very personable. I usually drop my car off first thing in the morning and then hop on the subway to get to work, while the car is being serviced. If you don't have to rush off to work, there are many good local coffee shops and eateries to explore along Bloor. Two thumbs up. read more

In truth, I first came to this location because of proximity, but became a loyal customer because of the great service. Ranjeeth and the whole crew are consummate professionals. Not only do they do excellent work, they are kind, thoughtful and friendly. I trust them implicitly and have always had the feeling they are looking after my car as if it were that of a close relative. Midas at 769 Bathurst has my highest recommendation. read more

Recently, I brought my car in for an oil change and a check of my tire pressure. (My regular mechanic is closed on Saturdays.) When I went to pick up my car, I found it up on the hoist with all four tires off. They were not asked to do that. Some mechanics call this, "prospecting," looking for problems to add to your bill. I asked for my tires to be put back on. Paid for the oil change and went home. The next morning, I left for the Don Valley Parkway. On the way, I began to feel vibration coming from the front end. It quickly got worse, so I turned around and headed home. After a few minutes, the left front of the car collapsed. Luckily, I was able to make it to the curb. I called for a tow from CAA. When the driver began to winch the car up, he stopped and called me over. He pointed to the tire. What had happened was the tire came off because there were no lug nuts. Whether they all came off while driving or whether they hadn't been put on, I don't know. What I do know is that Midas claimed the tire came off because rust on the wheel studs caused all five lug nuts to loosen and come off. Well, first of all, that's not how rust works. It seizes a nut and a bolt together making it difficult to pry them apart. When I mentioned this to other mechanics, they laughed. Both of them, separately, agreed that rust doesn't cause nuts to loosen and come off. If the wheel had come off while I was on the Don Valley Parkway, not only would my life have been at risk, but any other car that might have been hit by a flying tire on the highway would have been risk. But all I get from Midas is that rust caused the problem. There is no common sense to that excuse. In order to get my car to my regular mechanic, I had to get new wheel studs and lug nuts. On my dime, of course. So I went to work and waited for a call to pick up. I did get a call, but now Midas has all four tires off, again, and wants to replace all the wheel studs, plus labour, for $1,000. I did not ask for the other wheels to be done. They had no right to do that. I had them put the tires back on and picked the car up. Next morning I took the car to my regular mechanic and showed him the damaged wheel studs. I explained the situation and what Midas had said. He laughed and said, that's not how rust works. I let him fix other damage caused by the tire coming off. All I can say now is stay away from a shop that does shoddy enough work to put a driver's life, and possibly others, at risk. read more

I was having some trouble with shuddering, and brake noise until I eventually decided it was time to take the car in for an inspection. I contact this Midas, and Downtown Mazda for a quote on a worse case scenario. Complete replacement of all front brake hardware. Midas came in at about 75% the price of what Mazda was offering for the same work, so I took the car in for a look. They identified the problem and unfortunately the worse case scenario was the outcome even though the problem was localized to a single brake pad. As an auto mechanic I was reasonably satisfied with the work they did and minimal hassle with which it was done. It would seem that Bill and Tony are the heads of this place. Both are very personable and nice. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with them again. One thing I didn't like (and its seems to be the case at every mechanic) they managed to find a few other things in need of repair aside from the original reason I took your car in. More often than not these type of things don't seem to be urgent but they are still presented as a good idea to address. I was also told that my brake job would come with a free oil change, but the oil change wasn't performed when I left the car. I was able to come back and get the oil change free of charge, but it was still an inconvenience. What is very convenient is the 2 minute walk to the Bathurst Subway station. If you need to drop your car off during the week it's easy to hop on the TTC and continue on your way to work. For that reason, and their general good nature, this seems like a pretty good place to bring you car if you need some work done. read more

This has got to be THE most HONEST MECHANIC I have ever been to. Not only is it convenient (right at the corner of Bloor and Bathurst, with key drop option available), but they are ridiculously honest I'm actually in disbelief as I type this review. The people who work there are super friendly too, they never make you feel stupid and as a woman with a truck I'm weary people will take advantage of me or talk down to me, but that never happens here. The customer service is amazing and the people make you feel like family. My experiences here have been as follows: - First time I came here was because I felt like my alignment was off the night before a trip to Montreal - I needed to get the alignment and hopefully an oil change done first thing on a Friday morning cuz I had to be on the road to Mtl. by noon. I used to go to Canadian Tire but they were unable to accommodate me for a morning appointment the next day because they said it takes several hours to do an alignment. Feeling more desperate, I called Midas as a last resort because I (wrongly) ass-u-med they'd be kinda expensive - but it turns out their cost for an alignment was actually CHEAPER than Canadian Tire and they were able to see me first thing the next morning! On top of that, their website has coupons for $ off any work and oil change deals so #protip: make sure to check out the Midas website and grab your coupons before you go. I dropped the truck off at 9am and by 10am I got a phone call from them - "Truck is ready to be picked up, your alignment was fine, we have a printout of the specs to show you, so we didn't need to do the work after all, we did do the oil change, come on down and get your truck!" My jaw literally dropped to the floor. A MECHANIC TELLING ME THE WORK WASN'T NECESSARY, not charging me a dime, in the heart of downtown Toronto? THIS IS UNHEARD OF. Needless to say, I made it on the road in time, confident with my alignment, with the extra $ I had set aside to spend on the alignment still in my pocket to splurge on my trip! Not only that, they did an ENTIRE vehicle inspection checkup/spec/printout sheet to show me free of charge when I went to pick up my truck. Midas won me over as a customer right then and there. Canadian Tire who? lol -Second time I came here was cuz my muffler was making a rattling noise on acceleration. I got my brother to help me isolate the noise before calling the garage so we knew that it was coming from the exhaust system. I was reluctant to bring my truck in anywhere cuz I was afraid of how much even just a diagnostic/estimate would cost me. It turns out Midas at Bloor/Bathurst does the inspection and estimates for free!!! Brought my vehicle in before work, and by 11am they were on the phone with me to let me know the "damage" - turns out it was just a loose clip. They replaced it for FREE. They told me that the vehicle was fixed and ready to be picked up, and everything looks great and I owe them NOTHING. I was sitting here prepared to spend in the ballpark of $1000 for repairs and it turns out I owe $0.00. If I could have hugged the guy through the phone I would have. Just also note it seems like I'm bringing my vehicle for all these unnecessary repairs - no. I am not a rich woman so when I bring my truck to the garage it's cuz I'm trying to avoid MORE costly repairs in the future (i.e. having to buy new tires for driving w/ the alignment off for too long, and not just ignoring a noisy exhaust/muffler issue). I'm not some nitpicky person when it comes to my truck - it's got lots of untreated cosmetic damage from when my mom backed into me (lol) and a crack along the bottom windshield from a pebble hitting the windshield during a bad storm - but I do like to address preventable driveability issues before they get worse. This mechanic is so honest it's actually ridiculous and they are so friendly and nice I feel like finding them was akin to having a horseshoe up my A$$. PRICES ARE ENTIRELY REASONABLE - cheaper than Canadian Tire and service is way more personalized - Please go to this garage, they are amazing!!!! read more

Went to this Midas location (Bathurst). Turned my car in at 7:45am so, I could pick it up in the evening giving them enough time to work on it. After repeated calls the owner finally calls me back at 3pm with a list of ten things wrong with my car. I asked him - if you get to my car at 3pm and assuming I want to fix some of the items on the list , were you planning on having me come in another day for you to again work on my car? He says, yes! Arrogant owner with no customer service skills. I explained to him I need my car back by 5pm - because I did not do all the work he was expecting he intentionally worked on my car last and I had to wait an additional 45 minutes and could see my car in the shop with nobody working on it till I raised hell and they put two guys to work on it. In the meantime, I see people whose cars obviously came in after mine come pick up their car. I know this because mine was one of the first cars in this morning. Horrible experience - and after all this rudeness and horrible customer service not even an attempt at making things right with a coupon or any price break. Be careful - this owner will take you for a ride. I know cars and some of the stuff he was telling me to fix on my car were plain lies and a money-making racket. read more

They're good for regular service and repairs, and extremely convenient by the subway. Nice people, thoughtful and straight up about stuff, and have always called as soon as the work is done or when they need to ask me about extra work. Never pushy unless there's really something up, which there was with my brakes, but they showed me and explained options. I then read up to make sure I was clear on competitor costs, what work had to be done, etc., and their deal was fair and the warranty good. I've done 6 or 7 oil changes at this Midas, including a couple of the more in-depth package deal seasonal checks/tune-ups, had them replace brakes and callipers, fix front suspension. I took issue with them a couple of times and they were great each time and owned the issue. The break job they used too much grease so it got grimy and loud, but they redid the job on the spot at no cost and no issues since. Once as part of an inspection I watched a younger technician drive the crap out of my car through the neighbourhood, running a stop sign and squealing around a corner. I called him and the supervisor out on it and the supervisor was clearly apologetic, said he'd speak to him and that it wasn't the first time for this guy, and gave me a reasonable discount on the oil change I was having as apology. Another time, after an oil change I came home and oil leaked in my garage. I went back and the supervisor was apologetic and once they figured out what was wrong he actually offered to come clean it up, which was overkill and I didn't need them too, but they gave me a bunch of the kitty litter type stuff to soak up the oil and had me bring it back to them to get rid of (I live pretty close). The oil leak was said to be caused by a warn seal that doesn't get replaced each oil change, but they they said they should have noticed and suggested replacing, so they replaced it afterward free of charge and redid the change. That may have been a bit of a line, I don't know, but they took responsibility and fixed the problem immediately and I haven't had a problem since. I was hesitant going there initially because I'd only used Subaru mechanics, but after 4 years I'm fine with this Midas location and have recommended them to friends. I don't think I'd have them work on more complicated repairs but am fine with them replacing stuff that needs replacing from time to time (breaks, etc., and maintenance) and happy to avoid more expensive service options now that I'm well out of the car's warranty. Midas have a mix of technicians, so I get that I won't always the best person and that sometimes shit happens, but they've been clear and seem honest and the two issues in four years they dealt with really professionally. The Midas warranty on a lot of their more major work is good. I have a ten year old Subaru in really good condition that I only put about 10k km each year, so I look after it and do regular maintenance, and they cost just over half what I was paying Subaru. I just took my 2011 Mercedes S550 there today to put on my winter rims $80 which are already on alloy rims and an oil change about maybe $140. They told me that my front breaks should be replaced. I agreed, and they also said I should get my rear breaks serviced $50, and my breaks to be flushed $100. I am a trusting person, because of the good relationship with my old mechanic (Sterling @ Bathrust/Dundas). So when I looked at the final bill, it said that they charged me $475 in labor! My total bill was $1760!!! With tax over $500 in labor!!!! Tehy charge $110 an hour for labour and for every little thing they tacked on an hour, even though they multi-tasked and didnt take an hour to put on the $35.00 break sensor. I never paid for breaks before.. did I just get raped? read more

Had vibration in the steering and knew tires needed balancing so shopped around and found this Midas had the best price. I took my car in and the manager explained that it could be a balancing issue or a tire issue. I left the car there for about 2 hours and they had the balancing done. The manager also gave me a list of items that needed attention with the written estimate of the repairs that I asked him to quote. However, they did not pressure me to have the repairs done there. I also learned that the owner had changed. Very good service with polite staff. Will go back! read more

Very happy with the service. I had a flat tire one morning, managed to pump it up with a hand pump (slow leak), and drove from one garage to another, and NOBODY would help me, until I got to Midas. They sorted me out very fast, just asked me to go and get a coffee. They were even able to salvage the tire. That's the second time Midas showed themselves head and shoulders above the rest.
