I come here a lot for tailoring and dry cleaning, but no more. The prices are arbitrarily dictated by the man at the desk, but the tailoring is good. The reason I can no longer bring my dry cleaning here is because of the blatant overcharging. Cotton shorts and a short sleeve shirt gets charged as a "Suit," a sleeveless cotton knee-length dress gets charged as a "Gown." Check your itemized receipt before leaving or paying. read more

I just moved this area and was looking for a dry cleaner. I broght all my winter coats and daily work suit and blouses. I have many silk blouses and I noticed this yellow stain under arms even after dry clean from my old neighborhood. So I explain to the lady in cleaner and I wanted to remove those yello stain. She promised me she will take care of those yellow stain. I went back a week later and I picked up all my blouses and shirts. All stains are magically gone and my silk blouses are perfectly clean and soft. This is definitely my regular dry cleaner ! I highly recommend this place if you have same problem like me. UNTIL they SHRUNK my new Veronica Beard sweater and didn't even have the basic decency, the common courtesy to offer a refund for the service. All I got was a lame excuse..."sometimes when I dry clean, steam comes out." newsflash: when your steam ruins my $500 sweater, that's not OK. Neither is not offering a refund. Am disgusted. Horrible horrible experience. I just moved to the neighborhood and I was looking for a cleaner so I thought to try this one. They seemed nice at first but then when I picked up my clothes I realized that they didn't do what I asked for. I had brought a long dress that needed to be hemmed. And I did a temporary hem myself to show them how much to cut and hem. I showed it to them and they understood and said yes okay. But then when I picked it up I immediately noticed that they did not do any hemming. Instead they removed my hem and dry cleaned it. I mean, seriously? I talked to them about it and instead of apologizing for the mistake and inconvenience, they charged me for the dry cleaning and they asked me to pay an extra $45 if I wanted to cut and hem it. I've never had anything tailored here but for dry cleaning this place is amazing! They got some truly gnarly pit stains out of a white dress and white silk blouse (I'm disgusting and sweaty, whatever) and made them look almost new again! They are also very friendly, decently priced for the neighborhood, and have my things back to me in a reasonable amount of time. read more

So I brought in an off the rack suit to be tailored. My words to the lady tailor (who was great) was to do whatever she thought it needed. Among other things I mentioned I wanted done was the sleeves of the blazer feeling baggy and to tighten it up. I come back a week later and talked to the owner about what she did to the suit. He explained and told me if there was any problem to bring it back. I get home and try it on and the sleeves are too baggy. I mean I felt like a wizard. So I bring it back and long story short, we get into it because he wants to charge me again and he doesn't want to do it. But, at the end of the day he said he'll fix it for free Fast forward to the second pickup and I try the blazer on in store. It looked better(ish), but still not right. I asked him what was done to it and he said "nothing". Apparently he was informed by the tailor that the sleeves didn't need to be tighter (after asking to have it specifically done twice). So, now I'm stuck with a sheep herder's robe until I get it back to my old tailor, in another neighborhood. read more

I've been a customer for 4 years now and they're great. The husband/wife (I think) team are wonderful and I totally trust them. Although their prices are a little on the high side compared to others in the neighborhood, it's worth it to me. I trust them to dryclean all my clothes, including my wedding dress. I am rarely inclined to leave reviews, but I felt obligated to do so after such helpful service today. My winter jacket got snagged on a sharp wire from a fence and sliced it right through to the inside lining. With an only an hour lunch break to spare I thought I'd go for broke and see what I could do. The staff at Downtown Cleaners took me immediately and fixed up my jacket in 15 minutes for a reasonable price and did an excellent job to boot! Every time I write a bad review I feel a little guilty as I am a business owner myself. I am prefacing my review with this statement because it emphasizes my point, bad service is bad service and when it happens multiple times it should be acknowledged. My boyfriend and I have frequented this business and each time a new issue arises. Specifically with EXPENSIVE buttons almost always falling off our garments after being dry cleaned here. They do not even acknowledge that the buttons are MISSING. We usually do not notice until we return home. The last time this happened, it was THE LAST STRAW!!!!!! They had the audacity to ruin a QUALITY SHIRT'S BUTTONS AND REPLACE IT with some disgustingly cheap buttons that TOTALLY BROUGHT down the value of the garment. They are very sneaky when they ruin things and EXTREMELY cheap about replacing them. NEEDLESS to say that there are other businesses in the area that are 100% better than this one. I've been using this dry cleaners for nearly 3 years now for both dry cleaning and tailoring, and my experience with them has been excellent! The wife (sorry I don't know your name - I feel terrible!) is an amazing seamstress. I've had at least 12 items altered - including skirts, dresses, pants, and blouses - and they've all come out wonderfully. The dry cleaning services are good - things come out clean, nothing has ever gotten lost, and one time when I didn't think something was clean enough they cleaned it again for free. On occasion I have gotten a discount for paying in cash, especially when I was getting a lot done at once (e.g. 4 or 5 items tailored). A really nice husband/wife team! read more

Update: We took the dress back to Downtown Cleaners and they not only didn't clean up the first stain they added to the dress, they added ANOTHER stain and refused to refund the money for cleaning or clean the new stain. Asian guy with glasses and graying temples was extremely rude to me. He had already rung me up, but I forgot to specify I wanted my 2 shirts laundered (not dry cleaned) which is cheaper. When I said so, he insisted my shirts were "delicate" and needed to be dry cleaned. I didn't give in, and he got all huffy and finally rang me up again. Then when I asked if my pants were being laundered or dry cleaned, he said dry cleaned. I said I wanted them laundered (I thought it would be cheaper, and they're inexpensive pants.) He and (his wife?) tried to explain there's only one price for pants (I think. Neither speak proper English.) Then he said if I wanted a cheaper price, to wash them myself, that he'd give me his pants to wear, and pushed my pants at me. Then he gave me the previous receipt (which charged more for the shirts to be dry cleaned) and said, "There, that's your price." I refused and kept the correct receipt. I told him, "Don't get nasty." His wife apologized, took my clothes, and pushed her husband away. I would avoid this place. That guy is a nasty piece of work. read more

Similar to another reviewer here, I had a shirt returned to me with a new stain on it. I have been going here for over two year and liked it until recently, though I find their prices higher than most. Recently I took two shirts in to see if stains could be removed. They assure me they could handle it. Not only did the clothes come back stains still there, but they had added NEW stains to one of the shirts. Then I tried to pick up an order and they hadn't finished it, so I took half of it but paid for all it; she wrote "paid" on the ticket and assured me it would be clear when I picked up the rest that it was already paid for. Today when I went to get that order and several others she insisted that the half still there had not been paid for. When I said I wanted to check my credit card statement she started moving things arounda nd pointing to various receipts and insisting over and over that it wasn't paid and that my husband/man had taken half of it. Well, he hasn't been to the drycleaner without me ever, so that's not right. And I was going to just come back after I double-checked the statement, but she got so belligerent that I figured it was better to pay twice and never go back there again. I feel sorry if she is having a bad day, but all she had to do was give me five minutes to confirm the situation. I will be walking however many extra blocks necessary to go elsewhere in the future. read more
