    Dining area in the street.
    Ariel W.

In the late 1950's, Doris and Alfred Kaskel purchased 2,400 acres of swampland for $49,000 to build a world-class golf course and hotel. Doral's first structure was the Doral Hotel and Country Club. It was named from a combination of the couples first names, Dor-Al. In the 1980's and 90's Doral experienced tremendous growth as young families moved into the area. In January 28, 2003, after a seven year battle, Doral was finally incorporated into it's own city. Today downtown Doral wants to be your live, work, and play destination. I came to Doral to check out the downtown. Due to Covid the street was turned into a pedestrian only promenade. Shipping containers have been transformed into cute dining areas and along with clear cabanas have been placed in the middle of the street. You can order food from the restaurants lining the street like Dragonfly Izakaya, Bulla Gastrobar, and Pisco y Nazca and eat your meal in these cool spaces while socially distancing. Downtown Doral partnered with Baptist Health to implement safety measures to keep everyone safe while dining out. Downtown Doral has also incorporated art. At the end of the street is a domed shaped art piece called Aciiid Bubble by local artist Haiiileen. Come see it at night so you can experience the changing color light show. Coming soon to downtown Doral is the Doral Yard from the creators of Wynwood Yard, Bunnie Cakes, and the one I am most anticipating, Bachour from chef Antonio Bachour. It will open on October 1st and I will be right there. Their pastries are works of art and they taste as amazing as they look. In its short time as a city Doral has won several awards including Forbes Magazine listing Doral as Number 2 in America's Top 25 towns to live well, BusinessWeek naming Doral the best city in Florida for business start-ups, and CNNmoney ranked Doral 51st in their list of 100 places to live and launch a business in the United States. Parking here was a breeze. There is a multi level garage and a field to park in and both were free. After visiting the Doral I can see why they have earned so many accolades. With art, cool shops and businesses, and trendy restaurants, downtown Doral is turning into quite the destination.

So I visited again and this time my friends and I went to Bachour (amazing - see my other review). After our mass indulgence there I walked around a bit. Lots of new businesses and whata anice surprise. This area looks fab. Also to be noted FREE PARKING PEOPLE!! how amazing is that?? especially for Miami? if you have not checked out this new and up and coming vibrant area - go! My next planned trip out here will be to the Yard - which looks very appealing. If you are a fan of instagram worthy pics - ther are loads of pic opportunities here - see my photos!

What a beautiful setting for shopping and dining! Downtown Doral kind of reminds me of an updated western version of Lincoln Road. There is a main street that is pedestrian traffic only and there are trendy restaurants and shops on both sides. Beautiful strings of lights crisscross overhead and everything looks fresh and new! When I visited in December there were many beautiful, grand holiday decorations that added to the ambience. There are all kinds of trendy restaurants on both sides of the street. Most of them are moderate to high-end, and they reflect the diverse population of South Florida. Some of these are Bulla Gastropub (tapas,) Bachour Doral (American cuisine/bakery,) Dragonfly Izakaua (Japanese,) Pisco y Nazca Ceviche (Peruvian,) and Las Vegas, (Cuban cuisine.). These establishments all seem to feature outdoor seating....a plus in the gorgeous setting and great weather; but also a necessity during the continued pandemic. Many restaurants have used decorated shipping containers to create a uniquely intimate dining experience while still allowing patrons to dine outdoors. There are many storefronts; however a great deal of them are still vacant; probably due to the pandemic as well. Hopefully these will be leased & opening soon. There are modern multi-level condos surrounding the Main Street area and a Publix grocery store and beautiful multi-use Doral Park right next door. I think it would be an ideal & convenient place to live in...not just visit!

Downtown Doral is one of Doral's newest mixed-use projects designed for the work, live, play movement in mind with condos, restaurants, shops, and office space. It's very close to Doral Cityplace which is down the street and around the corner. What I like about Downtown Doral is the quality of dining here most notably Dragonfly, Pisco Y Nazca, Bulla, and a fancy Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine. Avo Taco is great too. I love that parking is free (unlike Cityplace). Finally, Doral has a nightlife and the long trek outside of Doral is not always needed anymore.

Downtown Doral is becoming a gastronomic metropolis, the quality of each restaurant is impressive, the decoration is very striking and colorful, attracting the attention of everyone who visits the place, but what gets the most attention is the cuisine that each one prepares. dish, some restaurants use the presentation to publicize the traditional food of the country they represent. Between color, flavor and creation, the chefs make food a gallery of culinary art which, upon contact with a first bite, gives us a sigh of satisfaction and reaffirmation that you chose the perfect place to have an unforgettable experience.

Price was supposed to drop to $5 after adding parking validation

Beware of Parking Charges by Professional Parking Management Corporation This past weekend (1/21/2023) I went to Downtown Doral for Premier Day and parked in the Red Garage. I was shocked when I went to pay for parking on my phone and saw it was $25 + fees, but I was already there so I decided to pay today and make a mental note to never come back again. On my way out of the garage I see a large sign that says Event Parking $25 flat rate but eat at one of our restaurants and have parking fee reduced to $5. Okay, not bad, I was planning on having lunch anyways. We eat at Doral Yard, scan the parking validation code and apply it to my parking session but the price does not change, it stays at $27.22. Well, today the full amount posted to my credit card, they scammed me. I immediately disputed the charge w/my credit card, told them I should have been charged $5 and the credit card co. immediately resolved my dispute and credited my account $22.50. I suspect they resolved it so quickly because of the company involved and the number of complaints. My daughter parked at a lot managed by Professional Parking Management Corporation and ended up receiving a letter demanding $80 because she went over her time by 10 minutes. I will not be back to Downtown Doral because of Professional Parking Management Corporation and urge you never to park in one of their lots or support any business that employs this crooked company. Look these guys up on BBB and see for yourself.
