The food was very good and servers not stressed out, but very accommodating. There were no food lines and there was a plenty space to sit. The best part was a glass for Greek draft beer that the servers kindly wash for you (after beer is gone) before you take it home as a memento. This is my tenth different Greek festival I attended at it was not the best or worst but it was the only one that offered a glass to take home. I wish other 70 ethnic festivals offered it as well - I would have had quite a collection. I was happy to support a Greek church in America. Opa!

A beautifully preserved historic theater from 1926, conveniently located in downtown and surrounded…read moreby shops and restaurants. This was my first visit, and the classic décor immediately set the tone for a charming experience. The venue is small enough that every seat feels close to the stage. From the mezzanine, we had an excellent view and clear sound. The sold-out matinee of The Nutcracker was wonderfully performed and well choreographed, especially impressive in a more intimate space. Seats were comfortable, though legroom is a bit tight--but manageable for a two-hour show with intermission. A side exit conveniently connects to a nearby parking garage, which was a nice surprise. I'd happily return for future performances and gladly spend more time exploring the downtown area.

We came here on the first Saturday it was open and it was extremely crowded. They had several…read moreparking lots that costed $15 so we went to the one that did not have a price on it as we assumed it was free. It ended up being $10 which we didn't know until we were already inside the lot. Then we had to wait for the tractor tram to take us to the side door which had a lot of dust. I ended up using a napkin to cover my nose so I wouldn't breathe it in. There is an admission fee which is $10 per person then inside, there was no map so we peed in a porta potty. I had a good time looking at the horses, cows, pigs, and goats. They were super close up and the opportunity to see such a view is very rare. The carnival games were very expensive, Ferris wheel was $6 per person and there is a fee to buy a card to allow you to ride the rides, and there is a credit card convenience fee for every purchase. A corn dog was $8 and also had a cc fee. The lines for each ride was about 20-30 minutes. I usually go to the Howard county fair which was way cheaper. They had free parking, rides were only $2 per person on the Thursday I went, and admission fee was cheaper.

Great is one word to describe the Frederick Fair…read more Enormous Gargantuan Huge-gantic a few others. Luckily I got there at around 3 in the afternoon. By the time I left there were lines of cars stretching for miles in each direction trying to get into the fair. They had rides galore. Like there was at least like 4 different rides that resembled Tilt-O-Whirls. There was funnel cake, bbq, popcorn, nuts and everything else you'd expect to be a at a large fair. And then there was the animals section. Hundreds of animals that included, but was not limited too: sheep, cows, goats, rams, horses, donkeys, geese, turkeys, pigs, and more. A special baby animal tent where you could see animals that had recently been born. A swath of of educational farming activities and exhibits. I mean, it was surely a farmers dream. The 4H kids there were competing and showing their animals. An experience that I have never had before. Ever seen someone bring out a goat by holding it's head and trot it around for a judge to see what pedigree it was. It was like a dog show but with cows and goats and what not. They had a small beer garden at one end of the fair where I was able to try a "Feed The Monkey" beer which, as expected, had subtle notes of banana and burnt sugar. And to top it off, the Amish were there, selling their amazing pretzels, whoopie pies, and more. One thing is for sure; People in Frederick are serious about their fairs.

The Frederick Keys and/or Nymeo Field left fans hanging without information for 80 minutes…read morefollowing a rain delay. The Frederick Keys had a scheduled 6:00 pm game on July 28. There were heavy thunderstorms between 4:30 and 5:30 pm, after which the weather was clear and dry. After the heavy rains it is understandable that there would be a small rain delay in starting the game. The stadium was open by 5:30 and letting fans in. However, we were left sitting there until 7:20 pm without any prediction when the game would start (despite several announcements promising a start time). The only information we got was that we were certainly free to spend money on concessions while waiting. At 7:20 they finally announced the game would be postponed. This is a callous disregard for the fans, their time, and money. If the field was unplayable due to weather, or whatever the reason for the postponement, the Keys should not have wasted 1 hour and 20 minutes of the fans' time before announcing the decision.

My wife got overheated and we left, too. I don't like complaining, but the food and drink policy is seriously backward. "It's a business"? Then stop trying to pretend like it's a public service.

It was a beautiful day the atmosphere was laid back and drinks were beyond reasonably priced. You do pay a $5 cover to get in and the buy a token to get a drink. I am guessing there is some dated city law forbidding them from selling alcohol outside, bypassed by selling a token not alcohol. It ends up being $5 a token which will get you your choice of beer or sangria. Dogs are welcome as well. Little tip, if you are just looking to enjoy the music and don't want to have a beer or a glass of wine. You can sit across the creek and hear it just fine. Several people were doing this! But really worth the time to go, great location, great time! All the little events like this that happen in Downtown Frederick really is what makes it so fun and lends to real feel of community.

I didn't get to try all the ciders, but that is okay as I still had fun. Met a few folks as always. The performers were cool. Loved that they had four food vendors this year. In addition, some vendors had extra things like cookies, apple cider donuts, and kettle corn popcorn to name a few. That being said the one major disappointment this year, comparing to years past, is the crazy plan to go with DJs instead of live bands. This is such a major once per year festival and you go with a DJ in the main area playing poor song selection vinyl. The DJ in the other area was playing much better music appropriate for the festival. Great food selections this year but overall number of breweries was down. Still, with all available the bands looking to make a name for themselves, the powers that be go with a DJ, crazy!

For $50 you would think that each brewery would give more than just a sip but believe me that is all you get. I maybe had a total of 3 beers total between all of the sips. But there were few vendors and hardly any music. One DJ and one band walking around. This was such a terrible experience for the money!!
