I absolutely love this place. I have been stopping in here for the past several months. Fantastic coffee. Friendly service. And great breakfast sandwiches. They have a cute dining area and some small areas you can throw a laptop or tablet on to work for a little bit while you're having your coffee. What are the best coffee houses in the area. Oh how I love downtown perk! This is always a go to stop for a light breakfast or lunch with some yummy coffee! The prices are great 4-9$ for almost everything! The only reason I give 4 stars is because they make their coffee so strong and sometimes I can't finish it! Something that can help if you feel that way too is asking for hot shots opposed to their premade coffee! They have lots of seating for chatting with friends or studying! Avoided the 250 bypass and took a trip through downtown Ashland to find some local grub. Happy to find this place. There's a great little boutique shop in the front with locally made jewelry, clothing accessories, and pottery. The staff was very nice and helpful and service was quick despite having a rush of people while we were there. I had the egg salad croissant and it was good - had a little extra flavor but still your typical egg salad. My wife and the 7-year old split the three cheese grilled cheese panini. When they finished, they ordered another one. Highly recommended. Was on English Muffin bread and you could taste the butter melted into the bread. The cookies weren't anything special. Next time we'll pass those up for one of the cupcakes - they looked great. Afterward, we could hop right back on 60 north and hardly lost any time. read more

A little weird walking in the front door for the first time and thinking you're in an antique/cupcake shop but just keep going. i was meeting somebody for lunch and this little shop was an exact half way point. nestled in the old streets and shops of Ashland is this delicious hole-in-the-wall. the ladies working there were so friendly and helpful for this newcomer!! first, i ordered their lavender lemon latte and it was just absolutely yummy! i ordered a medium size and it came in a fairly large cup, and i wasn't complaining. since i traveled up several miles for this joint, my phone almost died on me. i was feeling a bit bold that day, so i went up to the ladies and asked if they happened to have a charger i could borrow. sure enough, they made sure i got a charger!! i was so incredibly grateful. for lunch, i ordered the California medley soup and an italian sandwich. the soup was scrumptious and i wish i ordered more! on the other hand, the sandwich wasn't quite there. i wasn't able to finish the sandwich for the taste. but other than that, they have a good selection of lunch / brunch options! they also have a very quaint shop in the front of the store filled with jewelry and home goodies. the only two reasons i rated it 4/5 stars is because of the sandwich and the lighting was kind of dark. other than those two, i HIGHLY recommend this local dine that you cannot miss out on when your in town! read more

Great place and the chicken salad is very good. They have some really good ice cream selections. You might not find this place too easily but if you look for the store front you will find it. From what I understand there is a cupcake shop up front and a boutique in the middle and a cool and funky dinette in the back of the store. The restaurant help was really nice to us. There is lots of cool and eclectic things in this store/coffee shop. Take time to look around. I was surprised that this place was there. I asked a few people in town and they didn't know it was there for a few years. It is a cool find to eat there. I didn't get any coffee while I was there so I can't speak about that. Very beautiful and friendly place. It's kind of a "hipster" place where you go and get some coffee and chill out and read a book, or sit on your laptop. But I wouldn't skip it if you think you wouldn't like that vibe, it's in a perfect spot to walk around downtown Ashland after getting a drink. Gives you the "Friends" TV show cafe vibe. Downtown Perk is such a breath of fresh air for Ashland, Ohio ! They have a really great menu (all homemade), fast service, and very yummy desserts. Good coffee too. And, the gals are so friendly. Great photos of "Old" Ashland. The gift shop is so unique - so many talented artists from Ashland have their works displayed from jewelry to purses. Downtown Perk is one of my favorite places in town. Breakfast includes an assortment of bagels, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The lunch menu is not overwhelming and the food is made fresh and is delicious. They prepare one to two fresh soups daily. They also make different sandwiches ranging from their signature chicken salad to several different paninis. Offerings also include freshly made desserts that vary daily. I personally enjoy their coffee (my 7 year old son swears by the hot chocolate). They also have the "personal touches". When I enter the restaurant, they know my name. They know how I like my coffee. They make conversation with all their customers - regulars or not. The restaurant is attached to an adorable store. They sell tea, handmade jewelry, baby gifts, kitchen accessories and more. Perk is great place to go for lunch or an afternoon "pick-me-up" or if you just like coffee! When the food is good and the prices are right, count me in! read more

I always like going here and I never had a BAD experience.Everyone is so friendly and nice.The service is really good.Recently I went here with my sister and we wanted some ice cream.We were waiting for 5 to 10 mins and no one waited on us.Everyone else was getting waited on except for my sister and I.So, we left and they should be embarrassed that we left because they never wait on us, they lost some money that they could of had. That was the worse experience I had there and I will NEVER go back! I will never suggest this place to anyone.We were so mad that we went to Dairy Queen for some really good ice cream. read more
