However in past seating inside theater was perfect no matter where you seat, but Balcony AA Seat # 16 must be Worst, only able to see 35% of stage due to rails blocking your view. 3/30/25 We attended the Sunday matinee performance of Nunsense at the Downtown Theatre in Fairfield. All I can add after giving it 5 stars is EXCELLENT!! The music, talented performers, dance numbers, the spontaneity of the actors, the chemistry of the cast, the gifted youth players, and the comfortable, well-designed venue - fabulous! I must add the ushers were so helpful with the seating. Directed us to our perfect seats (1st-row balcony) but more importantly, so helpful; with people needing assistance such as walkers, wheelchairs, and elderly - so kind and knowledgeable. Free parking and simply fun entertainment; a lots-of-laughs show! Another positive thing is it supports local, community entertainment and the Missouri Street Youth Theater! A must-see! read more

Moving from San Francisco to Fairfield, the Downtown theatre is one of the biggest perks of Fairfield. I haven't seen a bad show here in 10 years. No worries about finding parking, not to mention free street parking! "Nunsense" had only five cast members, but it was totally fun and the 5 singers were all talented in their own right and harmonized beautifully. Great live band as well. Came to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show. What fun! The theater was welcoming as always. Nice bar selection and special audience participation bags special for the show which I appreciated!! The performance was just wonderful. Excellent costumes make up and of course acting. The pre show and intermission dance shows just elevated the whole evening. Had a wonderful time seeing Man of La Mancha on September 26, '18 presented by Missouri Street Theater. I was able to find great seats at goldstar.com although the downtown theater website also sold tickets at range prices. The venue is updated, with easy parking, So bring the heels ladies, as it's an easy walk. At the venue, they sold light snacks and beverages including wines. They accepted both cash and card. The performance was incredible and the sound is even better than some theaters in SF. This was my first play in the last 2 years and it jump started wanting to see more plays in the area. The only complaint that I have but not related to the theater is that they allowed a school fundraiser to host a raffle, and so a lady and 2 school aged children literally went around asking each seat if they wanted to purchase tickets for the raffle. It made me feel uncomfortable getting hit up for money like that. Maybe outside in the vending area. I'm not sure if they do this for every show or if it was a one time thing. Other than that, I had an amazing time. Bring extra $5 cash for the fundraisers so it doesn't dip into the wine money. read more

The Downtown Theatre was 100% NOT on my radar until Goldstar offered up a great deal for tickets to Nunsense - a fun and affordable Friday night entertainment option for the BF and I. It turned out to be a great little theater! The theater is located on Texas Street in the downtown area, which unfortunately even on a Friday night was a bit like a ghost down. Despite a couple cool shops (that weren't open) and a few dining options, we rarely passed another person (aside from a few ragamuffin types I don't really think were in town for a night at the theatah). But the theater itself is quite lovely - simple on the outside but very modern and elegant within. There is a private free parking lot right behind the building, so ZERO trouble on that front which is always nice. In the lobby is a small art display for perusal, plus a long hallway of the colorful posters of shows they've put on in the past. They perform a great variety of classics AND more contemporary shows - everything from The Music Man to The Rocky Horror Show! Refreshments were for sale before the show, including a few libations all for VERY reasonable prices. A bottle of water was $1.00, a glass of wine was marked as $5.00 suggested donation. The lobby staff was VERY friendly - I assume it's a group of volunteers, as it was a wide variety of ages. The Nunsense show was great fun! Sometimes small local theaters don't necessarily have the best talent, but this pack of 5 ladies playing the sisters were spectacular! Killer singing voices, spot-on comedic timing - everything you need from a Broadway star. My face ached by the end of the show from smiles and laughter, we had a lot of fun. My favorite joke heard during the Nunsense show - why didn't Noah go fishing? Because he only had 2 worms! Give this little local theater a chance, especially if you can score tickets on Goldstar - well worth the money, and a great venue for showcasing local talent with shows you might know all the words to or are being treated to for the first time. read more

I maybe came here as a kid for some things but it had been years until I decided to buy tickets to see The Little Mermaid and wow! I was blown away! It was an amazing show with amazing talent! No complaints about the theater itself, great little spot. And they serve local beer and wine along with other little snacks. We had such a good time we came back for Rocky Horror Show and holy crap! If you haven't seen this show live, go! It's ridiculously entertaining, hilarious and so great! Five stars for the show and audience here! Make sure to dress up and join the fun! I highly recommend this place and would definitely see another show here given the opportunity! Check Groupon for ticket sales. Not really a bad seat in the place. read more

Came here to watch my grandson's hip hop performance. They were one of many groups performing from their dance company. The facility is clean, the staff was helpful, good lighting. The seating is comfortable; however, the view from our seats in the balcony was obstructed by the railing. The sound was good, but the transitions were choppy. I don't know if this was a function of the sound tech or the music given by the dance company to the sound tech. Overall, our experience was great. read more

I've came here a few times and had a good experience every time. It's not crazy busy, although I always try to not come on a weekend. The parking is easy, checking in is easy, and the shows we've seen were GREAT! My kids absolutely loved them! We've seen the beauty and the beast and little mermaid. We recommend both shows. I grew up seeing shows at this theatre, it's absolutely amazing. *There's plenty of parking along the street, as well as a large lot in the back. *There are seriously no bad seats!! My faves are dead center in the orchestra ring. *Balcony! *It says "no alcohol" on the page, but they totally serve wine. The only down side to this theatre is the location. I thoroughly enjoy performing in this theatre. The sound is amazing and the accommodations are suitable for performers. As a patron, my favorite seats are up in the balcony, center seats. The sound just envelopes you in a big musical hug. I recommend attending the yearly gala. The most recent gala just passed and I already look forward to next year's. During this event, different restaurants and bakeries set out samples from their menus. There was also wine and beer sampling. We then treated the patrons to samples of own by offering glimpses into our upcoming performances. Just a tip- you can purchase your tickets ahead of time and reserve your preferred seating by going to their website. Have fun! read more

I can highly recommend the Downtown Theatre as a place to see a show. The facility is first rate. It is a modern theater. The seating is very comfortable. There is ample free parking. It is a great place to see and hear musical theater or other performances. There is a large orchestra pit at the front of the large stage. The large stage is a mechanical marvel, with multiple curtains screens and drops. There is a large shop just offstage allowing changing of complex sets. The lighting and sound are state of the art and better than any other facility where I have performed. All of this allows the audience to have a professional theater experience. read more

Excellent space! I've both worked here as a performer and attended shows and events here. Their are awesome dressing rooms and tons of space backstage, and the theatre itself doesn't really have a bad seat in the house. During productions the bar is open and drinks are allowed in the theatre, which is always a plus for me. The box office is always staffed so it's easy to reach someone, and the staff at the theatre is friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend it! read more

The theatre itself was quite nice. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly but it was lacking in some way. Maybe it was the fact that I paid $80 for three tickets in a relatively empty theatre. I didn't necessarily feel the ticket prices were reasonable considering it is a small town theatre.
