I don't know how to start so I will say this…read more The workers there need to be treated better. I have gone in multiple times and every single time one of the young ladies (Sol, Cece, or Mariah) at the register help me, they always seem to be sick. Are they allowed sick hours? Can they call off of work? UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Mariah helped me and she had no voice, meaning she COULD NOT talk at all! Sol was completely under the weather, she had mentioned to her coworker she was going to call off work but was denied. How is that possible?? Mariah, Cece and Sol can be coughing, sneezing, congested even and are at the front ringing people out and greeting them. I feel terrible for them! Lack of manners. Lin and Mariah C have probably the worst customer service to ever exist! Lin always gives me attitude for not having my Port Supply card ready for when I get to the front, I don't know if she notices, clearly I am busy shopping for what I need! I can't always have everything ready. She always tries to force customers to join memberships even when they repeatedly tell her no. In my opinion, very disrespectful. Mariah C (store manager) probably one of the WORST store managers I've ever seen. Lets start with her having sick workers working! She has a very poor attitude, very mean, does not answer to what the workers are asking/saying to her. She needs to be evaluated ASAP. I feel so bad for the young workers who have to work under that poor management. I would never treat ANY of my employees the way she does, EVER! Low stock/inventory. They are missing a lot of inventory and don't know if its because its winter, but I cannot find what I need for my boats! I hope people don't give them a hard time, but I bet they do because of how low their stock is. I used to love coming here but sadly that might have to change soon, l would rate this a 0 if I could, unbelievable.

Time off is denied for employees but for managers, that's always approved. I will not support an establishment who treats their employees less than. This location has some really great employees (NOT MANAGEMENT) but employees that have great customer service but I refuse to continue and support this store who takes advantage of their hard working employees. I am taking my business somewhere else and I will be taking my concerns to my congresswoman so they can help the employees against the harassment these employees have endured.

BUYERS BEWARE!!! Ive…read moreactually really wanted to write a positive review and held off since July 2025 to allow Boat Specialist to resolve all the issues Ive had with them. But today, after 6 months I'm at the end of my patience and since some of you are praising James Doer, then some of you know who manages the Service Department. I bought a brand new 2025 Ranger Tug R23 or at least I thought I did, but since there was crap in the holding tank when I received it, Im starting to think it was used. I paid for a Radar to be installed before it was delivered. When the boat was delivered to me in the Marina, immediately I discovered the radar I paid to have installed did not work. The water pump didn't work. I got 1 key when it should be 2. The holding tank had crap in it. The solar system charger didn't work. The outboard motor sat in the water in full lift and there was no bottom paint to protect it even when I paid for bottom paint to be applied to the boat. The excuse for that was the Buyer needed to ask for it...How would a Bulyer know the outboard motor wouldnt come out the water fully? The Service Dept agreed to trailer the boat back to fix the Radar and fix the water pump and all issues Ive identified and advised it can be done when the boat comes back in for the 20 hr breaking in service, which I agreed would be a good time. When it finally was picked up for service and returned 1 month later, the boat was returned but did not have the bottom paint on the outboard that I had agreed to pay additionally for. Before the boat was taken off their trailer, I spoke to James Doer who promised he would trailer it back to do the bottom paint as it should had been done before it was returned to me. So again he advised I can use my boat and then later he'll work out a time to trailer it back to finish the bottom paint that they had forgotten to have done. Few weeks later, Boat Specialist trailers my boat back to their shop to do the bottom paint on the motor and I also paid to have some service done on my Bow Thrusters and Windless Anchor... 3 weeks later my boat was returned from BS and put back into the water and as their delivery guy pushed us off from the dock, we discovered the Bow Thruster didnt work! It was supposed to be fixed, but again BS does NOT verify that repairs were actually completed. Again James Doer said he'll send a tech out in a few weeks to repair it. Yet again, I've been patient with Boat Specialist. I waited for the tech to come out and they did repair the Bow Thruster several weeks later. Just as I thought every issue had been resolved, there's more. What's the problem now? I just learned the 20 hr break-in service that was supposed to have been done the first time Boat Specialist trailered my boat back to fix the Radar and other issues was never done! My boat is at its 50 hr service alert and I now discovered Boat Specialist never did the 20 hr break-in. Is it fair from the multiple instances where this Service Department failed to complete work that they were suppose to do for me to say that the people managing it has FAILED and do not give a rip for our boats in their shop? I have asked that Boat Specialist do the right thing, but as he claimed that theres no written record that I asked for the 20 hr service to be done, he has decided to not recall that we spoke on the phone that I wanted the 20 hr break-in service...today he just conveniently forgot that request was made because he forgot to have it done months ago and returned my boat anyways. If the Service Department's performance is any measure of how Boat Specialist ensures their product is quality and their service is aimed to satisfy customers, then they have failed at least me... If I am that one unlucky person to have the WORST experience dealing with them... I whole heartedly hope you will not be the next. Or perhaps I am one of many... BUYER BEWARE!!!! GOOD LUCK. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Dont let the charm and smiles fool you.

Cruisin' for a Bruisin'…read more The only way to get to Channel Islands National Park is by boat. And, unless you're Captain Stubing, Jr. and own your own vessel, then Island Packer Cruises is the official partner of the NPS to transport visitors between the mainland and the island. The Good: * Currently offering services to Anacapa Island, Santa Cruz Island, Santa Rosa Island, and San Miguel Island. * Staff was friendly and helpful based on the minimal interactions we had with them. * Covered and uncovered seating on the boats, but you'll want to bring a hat regardless. * If you're lucky, you'll spot some dolphins and/or whales along the way. * Manage bookings online through their website. * They do send out emails updating you on the weather status and such in case there might be a chance of cancellations. * Prices vary depending on what you want to do, but they range from $15 per person to several hundred per person for 12-hour cruises. The average is probably around $70-100 each, though, which isn't bad for a round trip. * They do have a snack bar complete with beers on tap on the boat, so if you need some extra goodies to take along with you, now is your chance. I'm sure the prices are obscene, but you're in the middle of the ocean; you pay or you don't. The Meh: * They noodge you for tips on the way out. Listen, I get it. Times are tough, but maybe raise prices a touch instead of noodging customers for remuneration. The Ugly: * No service currently to Santa Barbara Island due to dock damage. * If you are visiting during the storm season, then there's a very good chance your trip might get canceled, at which point you can choose to get a refund or take a credit for a future trip. This happened to us this past December, but luckily we're only a few hours away, so it wasn't a big deal to rebook for this summer. Conclusion: The only way to the Channel Islands and it's a fun ride. Book it!

Santa Cruz Island was beautiful. The air here is pristine. I felt sick when I woke up with a headache and a little weird on the ship but the second I stepped onto that island the fresh air took me to 100%, and I was totally fine on the way back. We hiked the trail to the right as you get off and had amazing views at the top. Unfortunately it was difficult to get a reservation to be able to go, stay a few hours and leave on another ship. Everything was booked like 2 weeks out. The only availability was a boat in that arrived late because we stopped for the whale (worth it!) at 3:45, and we had to board to get back on at 4:30. Wish we had more time, but it was worth the trip. They must be a popular ferry because it's difficult to book what you want unless you book way in advance. The ferry stopped again on the way back to Ventura to pick up a balloon so the dolphins don't eat it, and when we took off again a pod of dolphins were surfing in the waves from our boat... SO COOL!!! Some of them right next to the boat. We would definitely use this company again, maybe book in advance next time we travel here, but we would try to see another island next time. An excellent experience.
