I was so excited to try this place. We drove an hour just to get there. When we got in we tried one of each pupusa except for the shrimp. The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, and the food came out fast. We thought it was strange that there were no customers and nobody came in the entire time we were there. Most of the pupusas are about $2.25 each and they are a pretty good size. They also come with a pickled slaw which I have to admit had no flavor at all. We really wanted to love the pupusas but these severely lacked seasoning and had no filling. Each was the same, full of Masa and no filling. The salsa helped to add flavor but you get a very limited amount and you can see in the pictures we ordered a lot of pupusas. read more

Doña Maria's Pupuseria is a Salvadorian-style food establishment. A Salvadoran immigrant living 'the American dream. Doña Maria Gomez, the owner loves to cook. Her specialty is the pupusa (pronounced puh-poo-sah) is stuffed with a combination of cheese and pork, chicken, shrimp, jalapeno, loroco (an edible flower), or beans. The thick corn tortilla is then thrown onto a hot griddle, where it sizzles until crispy brown. After driving past the restaurant multiple times and then having it pop up in my Facebook feed we decided to try it. We love trying food from other countries and experiencing the cuisine of other cultures. The staff is friendly and helpful the food was cooked to order and hot! I'd have to say this is authentic Salvadorian food was made by someone with a passion for their style of food. I have now eaten here on two different occasions, once was delivery and once was carry out. I have to say both experiences were fantastic. The food was extremely fresh and made to order and you can tell from the first bite they really do know what they are doing. I have had their pupusas and their pastelillos and both are absolutely fantastic. Different textures the pastelillos are deep fried and the pupusas are now I would say probably cooked on the flat top grill. I have done pork beans cheese and beef and all have been fantastic. I have also had their carne asada and I can say that is fantastic as well. Whether you order to carry out or deliver I think you will thoroughly enjoy this place. read more

The only reason why I'm giving this restaurant one star is because of customer service. The ladies in there seem so tired and depressed/mad! They seem like they don't want to work or talk. They don't greet you, they don't smile or have energy to make you feel welcomed. They're lack of carisma. Food is just okay, being the fact that I come from Maryland where Salvadorean food is on point. Food and customer service need improvement, but especially customer service! Restaurant should invest in hiring someone who is energetic, happy and welcoming, to be at the front of the restaurant and who will come up to the table and take orders or just to check on you. We came on a Sundays afternoon. The special was 3 chicken sadlylempanadas with the rice and a cabbages w. We also ordered a pork and cheese pupusa since it was one of the specialties. The food came out hot and was delicious! Homemade hot sauce was a bonus. The empanadas were crisp on the outside and moist inside. Pupusas were different, corn based and two could easily be a meal. Terrible service. We waited 45 minutes and had to leave with less than half our order so we were not late to our next event of the day.

Adorable logo, well-positioned store on high street, great social media presence, clean/orderly facility and stylish signage inside and outside. Pupusas took about 30 minutes but were so tasty! We've taken out and eaten in. The pupusas are delicious! However, the last time my husband and I were there, I ordered two pupusas, one shrimp and one chicken. I thought something was a little different after finishing the first one: I realized there was no cheese in either of them. The first time I got takeout, they were so hot and cheesy that I couldn't even handle them until they cooled! I will definitely go back but be sure to mention this. What a delightful spot! My wife and I stopped in Seaford for the evening while heading south. While yelping cheap eats, Dona Maria's came up. Never had Salvadorian food I thought we'd give it a shot. My wife and I tried some of their food within a couple days of their opening. I'm not a huge fan of the Mexican food we have in (and around) the area, as I feel it is very generic. So I was excited to try some Salvadoran cuisine, and to compare it with the quality and flavor of some of the food in the area. I can start by saying, it's not spicy. The sauce that comes with the pupusa has a little bit of kick to it, but not anything extreme. The tortillas, and the pupusa, seemed to be from scratch. Thick, corn tortillas that were pretty good. My wife ordered some of the yucca as an appetizer. The pork that comes with it is amazing. She said the yucca could use some seasoning, but it was crisp and had a good flavor. I ordered the pollo guisado. This is a chicken (bone in) dish, prepared in a tomato based sauce along with potatoes. Excellent. Very savory and really good. The rice was a nice touch. Not overpowered and extremely seasoned like in some restaurants. There was a type of salad (I assume it was beets) that was a bit different. It was served as a side. Also, the pupusas come with a pickled relish. I could eat a gallon of that! The staff was exceptionally friendly, and the prices were more than reasonable. It is my understanding that they will be starting a delivery service very soon. In a city where your options for delivery are pizza, pizza and more pizza...this is a welcome change. My wife and I will definitely be frequenting this establishment. read more

Absolutely delicious. We went in for lunch and ordered pork/cheese pupupas, Polo guisado, and shared them. We ordered dessert too: Empanadas De Platano and Tres Leche cake. YUM! Definitely planning to return to try other menu options. When I went to pay, I had the girl read off what we had ordered because I thought she was not charging us enough.
