I ordered by DoorDash two hours in advance and when my order arrived, it was ice cold. I called to let them know about the situation and they hung up on me. The staff was very nice and friendly However, This place was deceiving in the sense that they have 5 stars and I just can not agree with the food quality. The papudas were really thick with masa(corn meal) and little filling. The carne asada had very little carne and more mushrooms and onions. It also did not smell very appetizing. read more

Friendly Salvadoran restaurant in mall by Go Brit on Rte 1 in Lewes. Nice service, large servings and good food. I tried the vegetables (loroco, tasted like cabbage with tomato-ish sauce) with the papusa (kinda like cheese stuffed tortillas but more pliable & thicker than a tortilla). It was tasty. I also had the 8. Carne Asada platter. It was a large amount of food including: steak (good & flavorful, but a little chewy & salty) with fried onions, refried beans, cole slaw, rice (with tiny pieces of carrot, peas, green beans, frozen veg medley) and they serve it with four tortillas! Hole-in-the-wall gem just outside the beaches on the coastal highway. Fantastic carne asada and pupusas. We stopped here on for lunch our way out of Rehoboth because the places we were thinking of eating at in Rehoboth were either closed before noon or packed with lines for brunch. This place came up and seemed worth the gamble, and man was it ever. The pupusas were absolutely top-notch and I devoured them. I spent two weeks in the middle of nowhere El Salvador eating nothing but pupusas which means two things: (1) I know what a good pupusa is and (2) I have almost no tolerance for bad ones since I've already eaten so many. They were thick, just a bit crisp, tender on the inside and came with fantastic toppings. Nobody else in my family is a huge pupusa fan, so they got the carne asada and that was way better than we expected. It was a gorgeous, thin, big slab of beef seasoned perfectly to be a bit spicy, but let the meat's flavors come through. I'm not normally a big beef eater and I still loved it. They also made my daughter, who is a pretty picky eater, two eggs that we cut up for her. It made the meal by keeping everyone happy. read more

After a day a the beach I was looking for Latin American food, the options were mostly Mexicans that by the pictures I saw the food looks out of a can Cabañas was the only restaurant with 5 starts in the places I checked Do we went to cabanas, when we got there it was 8:00 and they closed at 9, the guy in front who seems to be the owner was very welcoming, he told us not to worry about the time, no to rush but yo enjoy our time there, he continued to tell us about daily specials, my man I opted to try appetizers so we could try different things I have seen the picture of the Yucca in people's reviews so I ordered the yucca Which was delicious, the curtido (pickled cabbage that comes with yucca and pupusas) was also very good, the only thing is that it is customary to serve yucca with pork chunks known as chicharron, and here they served it without it We also order pupusas, they were small and a bit too think too much dough The Sweet plantains were not quite ready, they were a bit hard but ok We also ordered nuegados, yucca and cheese patties served with syrup those were the bump, best item in the menu My sister order a plate with chicken shrimp rice beans avocado salad she said that the food was ok, it needs it a bit more of flavor But the portion was good for the price Horchata was really really bad, it tastes like medicine I have to admit that we live in the DC metro area which has tons of authentic Salvadoran Restaurants and we have become a bit demanding, so I guess for the Lewes area this place is a gem Once again, service was great and the place is very clean read more

O M G, you guys need to eat here!!!! Went to the beach in the area and noticed that most food choices along the Main Street were same old franchises we see everywhere. I also notice away from the beach you'll find hole in the wall places to eat. After searching on yelp, hold and behold we found something we can all agree on to try. I'm so ecstatic that we've chosen this place. The food is authentic and beyond delicious. Don't be afraid to order something you don't know what it is because either way, it's going to be good. We ordered 5 different dishes but only able to take pictures of two because my greedy children couldn't wait to eat. Also, the owners I'm assuming they are, are extremely generous. Hidden in a little shopping center is a treasure called Cabañas. Small and simple, the restaurant is unassuming and bright. Sit down or take out service. Today we decided to sit in. Friendly prompt service, we were greeted and served immediately. Hubby had the chicken burrito which was prepared with care and fresh ingredients. He loves his burritos and commented that it was one of the best he'd had. Of course you can't go to an El Salvadoran restaurant without trying the puposas. Very good! I had the seafood soup. We are lucky to have an authentic Salvadoran restaurant here at the beach. It's consistently delicious and the food is hearty without being heavy. Everything speaks "fresh" and there are some lovely flavor combinations available on the platters. Great fresh Salvadoran fare! The carne asada is very flavorful and arrives pared with grilled onions and mushrooms as well as the very tasty beans and rice. The chile rellenos have a light (for me; I love spicy food) spice kick. Delicious tomato and onion sauce cover the giant pair and you need to be hungry to finish all the rice! Stopped into the seemingly largely undiscovered Cabañas Restaurant in Lewes last night after getting off the ferry from a long day in Cape May. It was a great little place. The restaurant and bathrooms were immaculately clean. Prior to this I had had Salvadoran food once before, in New Mexico. I'll just dive into the food we had one-by-one: - Yuca frita: Got this as an appetizer. We've had yucca at several Latin American restaurants and it is always good. Here was no exception. It was delicious. - Curtido: Curtido is a Salvadoran slaw that is paired with the pupusas and other dishes. The cabbage may be pickled, not sure. It has a tomato-based sauce on top. We had curtido in New Mexico and I didn't like it, but here I thought it was pretty good. - Marañon: This is a unique Salvadoran agua fresca made from the fruit of the tree that also grows the cashew nut. It was good, a little twangy but good. Definitely something different. They also have tamarindo and horchata here. - Revuelta: This is the classic pupusa, stuffed with pork, beans, and cheese. Very good flavor. I thought the tortilla was a little thick, or else it needed a little more filling, but overall very good. - Loroco: This is a traditional Salvadoran pupusa filled with perfectly stringy cheese and small pieces of pickled loroco flower blossom. It sounds weird, but this pupusa was one of the best things we had here. Do not miss out on it. - Frijoles: The combo platter comes with some beans. They're very tasty. They have sort of a different taste than your typical Mexican beans, in a good way. - Tamales - The chicken tamales (cooked in banana leaves?) were tasty. If anything, they needed a little more chicken. They had a little too much masa, but were good overall. - Plátanos - Wow! Perfectly cooked plantains. Absolutely delicious. This place may have been a 4 star if not for the wonderful owner, Fredy. He was very friendly and chatty and a really cool dude. He was very proud of his food and his great attitude definitely pushed it from a 4 to a 5. read more
