Just ordered food here from inside. The order taker had difficulty understanding our order, and got it wrong. She said it would cost an additional $1.20 to get sweet chili sauce included in our order, seems high but not her fault. Then I watched as she moved from order taker at the register to behind the counter where she proceeded to make our food. She never washed her hands, never put on gloves. There were 2 other people working. Why wouldn't one person be dedicated to being the cook to maintain clean hands? Not a good experience, won't be back. read more

Zero stars, I phoned 2 nights ago for a birthday/happy Father's Day cake. Even followed up with a confirmation. Went to get the cake said they never got the call. Not an offer to write on a new one nothing. I have 18 people coming for this cake . Went there with a friend; we are both women in our late 60s. She had two gift cards purchased at the Port Alberni DQ but the staff couldn't figure out how to make them work. My friend has hearing aids and the staff spoke so quietly to her that I had to repeat what he said so my friend could understand what was being said to her. Then the staff just started asking me questions which he should have been asking her. I told him that she has hearing problems and he needs to speak up, and that didn't happen at all. I ended up getting an order of chicken strips with fries for her, a burger and onion rings for myself, she had a pop and I ordered an Orange Julius. The Orange Julius was weak and just a disgusting combination of chemicals, not at all the Orange Julius I remembered. Her chicken strips and fries were "OK", and my burger was overcooked, on a tiny bun, not enough condiments inside, and the onion rings were soggy and tasteless. I paid more than $33 for what we got. I understand ALL prices have increased but really, DQ, $33 for what I got should have embarrassed the owner (who was there and offered no help to his staff who were struggling to do their jobs). I am one of those Canadians who totally supports and believes in immigration. I welcome newcomers to our wonderful country with open arms. The young man who waited on us had been in Canada for five months. I blame management for not providing him with the support and confidence he needs to do well at his job. I don't want the young man to get in trouble, because ultimately, it's management's fault when staff are struggling to do their jobs. It must have been pretty humiliating for the young man and really, he deserves praise for at least trying. The manager should have been beside him, gently guiding him through his job. DQ's prices are outrageous, and the food barely passable. I would recommend that if people want "fast food", they take their money somewhere else. A&W makes great burgers; even McD's is better than this DQ experience. read more

I was at the Dairy Queen at Country Club Mall a few weeks ago and have been meaning to review some time ago. I needed gift cards and presumed they were open earlier than they were. At least 30 minutes before they opened the manager walked by me and asked if I needed help. I informed I needed gift cards when they opened. He brought me in to the store and got my gift cards organized for me before opening hours. Much appreciated! read more

The slowest DT in Nanaimo. No one has any sense of urgency ever. Inside and drive thru is extremely slow. Put more staff on or staff who actually know what they're doing. This is a management problem. I hate waiting a half hour plus in your DT. read more

went to this dq today and asked for a new dreamsicle cone. for almost FIVE dollars I got a small (and I mean small as it looked like a kid size) lopsided cone. The 'dreamsicle' flavor itself was no dream. It tasted like chemicals. I won't be back as I have no desire to get this kind of service and don't really feel like paying almost FIVE dollars for a small cone........btw went next door to the Wendy's and got a small Frosty and a burger for $3.50 read more

Slowest service in nanaimo, as far as fast food goes. Its no suprise to wait 15 minutes for a damn iced cream cone. Staff never appears concerned or seems to move with any urgency. Wont be stopping by again unless they throw in some gas money for the incredible wait. read more
