She took our order or 4 blizzards. We paid and had a seat. After 15 mimutes I went back and found a person. They said they didn't get our order . I showed them my receipt. He said. "Oh" Took him 6 more minutes. During this time my grandkids and husband counted 16 people come in , wait and leave. Me my mom and brother went into dairy queen to get some food for dinner. We went to go and order and my mom ordered a hotdog combo and my brother and i ordered a 7 dollar meal. They gave us our order and we went to go get ice for our drinks but they were out, my mom likes ice so i went to go ask them for some ice and they said "We don't have ice" in a rudely way. We took our food and sat down, as we sat down our table had sticky stuff on it and the floors and tables were completely dirty?! My mom went to go open her hotdog package and they put atmost 5 small onions on there, no chili or mustard like it is in there photos. My mom went up there and asked for their manager, she then told the girl that the store was dirty, they didn't have any ice and they got her order wrong. The girl proceeded to say what's dirty and go to the back and got somone to clean off the tables, our food was partially cold and when we went up there to get our ice cream they were giving attitude and taking no time. This is the WORST DQ in Roanoke! Rude, disorganized, lie to customers' faces, obviously hate their job and will let everyone know it. I went in Saturday for a birthday cake my mom ordered for me last week (I'm using her account to write this because I don't have an account for this). I had the receipt on my app and pulled up the card from the link DQ sent to my phone. The first woman I spoke to was very rude and literally, her words, told me to wait because she didn't have time for me. I stood there while several other people walked in and she helped them before me (sort of -- a manager had to complete an order that this 1st woman walked away from without finishing the order). When the 1st woman finally called me up, I explained very clearly that I was there to pick up a cake that had been ordered. She said, "Wait .. you're what?" with a rude tone. I repeated myself, even saying I was sorry because maybe I didn't speak loudly or clearly enough. Again, she said, "I don't know what you want. What are you asking?" AGAIN, I repeated myself. How many times did I have to tell her I was there for a cake? I gave her my name 3 times and my mom's name 3 times to check whose name it was under. Finally, around the 4th time, she goes, "Oh, you're here for a cake? You had me all confused because that's not what you said." Are you serious?!?! She went to the back and returned with some weird green cake and someone else's name, slamming it down on the counter like she really hated her job. I told her that wasn't mine and showed her the picture from the e-mail of what my cake looked like (a pre-made DQ chocolate cake, not custom, with Happy Birthday on it). She glared at me, rolled her eyes, brought it to the back, and returned with my cake. She slammed it on the counter so hard, the lid came off and I had to struggle, without her help, to get it back on. She asked if I paid for it online. I told her I had a gift card and wasn't sure if it had been paid for (shouldn't they already know? how many people steal cakes because they don't even bother to check??). She said, "What do you mean a gift card?" I showed her the link AGAIN and she said it couldn't be used for that, then she said they don't accept gift cards. It seemed to me like she wanted me to pay for it another way so she wouldn't have to deal with entering the gift card. At this time, someone overheard and came to help her. This 2nd lady was nice but she didn't know how to enter a gift card, either. How do the employees of a DQ not know how to enter a DQ gift card? Makes no sense! After asking someone else and looking up something, she finally found it and told the 1st woman. The 1st woman entered the gift card number and gave me a snide look as she said, "It's invalid. This code isn't real," or something like that to suggest I faked something. The 2nd woman gave her kind of a side stare like she knew she was lying. The 2nd woman entered the number and WOW! Magic! It worked! I was in there for almost half an hour just to pick up a freaking cake! All because the 1st woman took people before me who came in after me and then treated me like trash pretending not to understand simple orders and pretending my gift card wasn't real. I wish I had caught her name but my mom was waiting outside and we had to hurry to get home for my birthday party before the cake melted. NEVER EVER go to this DQ! read more

Dairy Queen 460 claims to support community gave William Byrd high school 10% off on their fundraising discount cards they sell however Dairy Queen refused to uphold this offer and denied the discount on normal priced menu items the only thing listed excluded is cakes and can't be combined with other discounts which is under stable however that was not the case for my order. I thought I was supporting a good business that supported my kids but they are falsely acting as if they are very disappointed gives them a poor community outlook read more

As soon as I pulled into the drive-thru, I noticed that the car in front of me took an absurd amount of time to order. I glanced at his mirror and saw him having what appeared to be a casual conversation with the person who takes orders over the speaker. The person was talking with them for so long that the person behind my car literally left the parking lot. After 10 more minutes of waiting I eventually just pulled into a parking spot, and as soon as I did so the car in front of me pulled up. Coincidence? I think not. The food was good, and the staff were pleasant. Forgot my blizzard though, was also pricey for the amount of food I received. However, that experience with the idiotic driver in front of me makes me want to pick a different place to dine next time. read more

0 would be my review!! When my sister and I go this location, we go through the drive thru!! So you DON'T see what the conditions are where your food/ ice cream is being prepared!! We went in this Orange Ave location to order ice cream. Upon going in I waited to use the restroom first. An employee came out and went to work. While in the rest room it was pretty obvious that she had took a dump!!! The disgusting part was, I could tell she didn't wash her hands, there was not a drop of water in the sink!!!! Soooo we odered a blizzard...While waiting I observed the condition of the counters, floors ect. It was actually pretty disgusting!! Ice cream was just laying on the blender and on the counters. No one was cleaning up anything..Just congregating like you would expect a bunch of teenagers to do!! The employee that came from the bathroom was the one, OMG, preparing our blizzards!!! Pleasantly surprised with our first visit here: ++ 1/4 lb grilled cheeseburger: much like the Burger King Whopper, this simple burger was basics perfection - grilled patty and cheese, ketchup and mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions on soft Kaiser buns. 4.5/5 French fries: we used this $0.99 coupon for the "regular" fries. They had the great golden brown tinge and flavour, but the serving size was disappointingly small. 4.5/5 Clean floor that's not sticky, a choice of stools, booths, and regular wood chairs, and a warm and cozy ambience give the place more of a diner vibe than of a fast-food chain. This is just one example of how this DQ is not like it used to be! Cannot even fill to top of cup. I've been going to this same Dairy Queen for 28 years and from 16 to 21 I even worked there. The service is okay but the quality of the food a soft serve is a big fat 0 in my opinion. It's awful how bad this place is now. I know it got sold during Covid and I'm assuming because that owner was hemorrhaging money so he probably didn't have much of a choice and that owner actually cared about his business, employees and customers. Now however this new owner is he has absolutely no idea what he's doing or just don't care. Some of the employees try but when the ownership is sorry and cannot train new employees properly you can't expect much. In my opinion I do not believe this Dairy Queen will last with these new owners. I foresee them having there franchisee pulled and shutting down. This place is ALWAYS FILTHY NOW. I gave it a 4 but it's a 3.75, the service was nice. Rather slow but nice. My Blizzard was good, they turned the cup over as usual lol. However my double cheeseburger is where it's at!!!! Very good and was fresh off the grill and tasted like something I'd grill myself. DQ has some work to do on their fries and their flavor but they do still hit the spot. Went by there on 9/6/2023 it was only 8:50. All the workers was goofing off inside playing on their phones, clearly no real management inside . Doors locked, people sitting in the drive thru. When I pulled out the drive thru and went around. I saw them just laughing and chilling inside not doing anything. They need supervision. read more

Dining room not open so all business is done at drive thru. Have been coming here since before Covid and drive thru was always wrapped around building and wait times of 20 + minutes or more. Past two trips I've noticed better quality and speed of service. Wait times are minimal and drive thru is always in forward motion. Its like the entire staff was either properly retrained or completely replaced fir the better. 5 stars...keep it up. read more

This particular facility for this franchise has hired the single most incredible QSR employees I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with. On a busy evening with an arm full of children they were efficient, unbelievably polite, sweet, and professional. The lights are not even "on" on the building, street sign or drive thru sign. Got it!! Turn the lights "on" the drive thru maybe, just maybe people could read the sign and speed this process up. Horrible service. I ordered a cake online for my son's graduation and had a confirmation. I went to the store only to see a sign on the door with the date (may 25th) saying that no one was there due to low staffing. We had no cake for my son's party bc of this. I then called the store multiple times the next day until I finally got a hold of someone. They said that they had to close the store quickly and "had to put up an old sign on the door" (funny how it has the correct date if it was an old sign) and I could get the cake today. They had also put the incorrect name on the cake. I told them I didn't think I should have to pay full price for it and they said if I didn't want it I did t have to pick it up. No apology and no offer for any kind of discount to make it right. This place has definitely lost my business. read more

I am writing to let the world know of quite possibly the worst customer service I have received in quite some time. I would like to start by saying that I visited this location tonight with my wife and 2 year old son. I was inspired to come here this evening for an after dinner treat because I had lunch at the location in Salem today. Their pumpkin pie blizzard is most enticing from the picture on the menu and my two year old could enjoy a simple chocolate cup as well. When we first arrived around 6:25 pm, we noticed it was not that busy, nor was I expecting a Tuesday night crowd. However, I did notice immediately the amount of staff they had on hand. I could count 5 automatically. There were two young ladies standing at the front while we stood back to make our selection. There was a customer in front of us that appeared to be an employee who was off shift or a friend of one of the girls standing behind the counter. She looked annoyed that we had interrupted her conversation and slid slightly to the left so we could order. My wife heard the tall girl behind the counter say something to the effect of "Ever since I took this job, I have either wanted to kill myself or someone else". I didn't hear this as I was pretty stoked about the pumpkin pie blizzard I had been waiting for all day! :) So another shorter girl takes my money and hands me a number and says they will bring it all out. Let me be clear of our order. It was (1) pumpkin pie blizzard, (1) child's cup of chocolate, and two scoops of ice cream for my wife. I paid the bill at 9.60 and sat down. My wife and I were joking around and in a pretty good mood as we were playing with our son. As we sat, I noticed one other person in the dining room, two cars in the drive through. The three girls (two behind the counter, one in front of the counter) began to ignore us and continue their 10 minute conversation. Let me be clear, there was NO ONE behind us. There was no line. Only us, waiting patiently for the teenage employees to make our ice cream. I didn't order prime rib, and this wasn't Applebee's. This is a fast food restaurant. You expect a certain level of laziness but I was pretty appaulled. After 10 minutes of waiting, I approached the girl behind the counter who was still chatting with her friend. I asked for a refund. Her response provoked anger. She said "For what?" Some of you may ask, "Paul, did you at that point summon the demon spawn of hell and give these kids a lesson in customer service?" Nay, I did not. I explained that she was up here having "social hour" and not making my food. As I gazed over at the friend on my side of the counter, she was eating a banana split... Are you kidding me? You made a (probably free) banana split for your friend, but you couldn't stand to make a customers order? I then demanded a refund. To which, the young girl rolled her eyes and walked in the back without saying a word. At this point, it's about principle... I am not going to let this one go. The manager, Joy, stepped out. Now, to be fair, Joy obviously did not know what had happend. I asked for a refund and her response: "For what?" Is that Dairy Queen's phrase kind of like the Chik-fil-a "My pleasure"? I said "Because you never gave me food!" And I pointed to the empty tray sitting on the table with my receipt on it. I asked for the corporate office number to which she said I could call the store directly and just talk with the owner. Great. I went down the street to Bruster's Ice Cream. I got the same order for 1.00 less and ONE employee working made my order in less than 90 seconds. The owner of this Dairy Queen needs to hire more responsible employees if we wishes to fill his parking lot. read more

Don't quite understand why they had take out for a whole year during the pandemic, but as soon as the restrictions get lifted they close down the inside and only offer drive thru. The drive thru is always wrapped around the building and out to Orange Ave and moves at a snails pace. I'd give 0 stars if I could, there are better options out there. read more

If your order is wrong don't bother wasting your time calling. The Manager will say all the right things and promise to correct it next time you're in, take your name. When you actually go and ask them to make it good the workers act like you just decided to drive through local drive thru's asking for free food and they "can't find your name" on this magical book. Don't bother advocating for yourself either - you'll get the window shut in your face after they throw your credit card out the window at you. Due to the review by Paul Y, I had to visit this Dairy Queen with my family just to see for myself.... We ordered two peanut Buster Parfaits an orange Julius and a cookie dough blizzard. The service was great as was the attitude of the personnel working at the time we visited which was around 4PM today. We did not speak to Joy the manager but we did share the poor review with the two employees that were at the front counter. They seem to be unaware of the review. I gave it 4 stars because it is fast food and it is a Dairy Queen and it met all of my expectations in regard to being fast food. I say give them another shot Paul. read more
