I tried several places--one felt like a cattle call, where I was just another person being rushed in and out. Another location claimed to accept my insurance, but I was still charged $110 for a basic annual exam that should have been covered. The following year, I decided to try UK Advanced Eye Care, and I'm so glad I did. The staff is wonderful--friendly, professional, and great at what they do. But what truly keeps me coming back is Nicole. She handles the eyewear side of things and is simply the best at what she does. Nicole has helped me with my glasses in more ways than I can count. She's kind, knowledgeable, and always greets you with a smile. After three years, she's the reason I continue to return. To be clear, I go to the Turfland Mall location. Went to pick up my contacts - 2 boxes for a sixth month supply - and the total was $170 and I owed $50 (after insurance paid $120). That math is off since it should be $65/box and I should be paying $10 after insurance. Was told, "oh I thought you wanted the price match on the next six months supply." Say what?!? Huh?!? Why would I want a match later?! You can't do a price match now? Was told that the price quote was before they ran insurance (even though they had that the entire time). Why would the price match be dependent on $120 insurance copay? You either match it or you don't. I was told I didn't understand. Umm, I've been ordering contacts for 15 years (not to mention I've had the same eye insurance since 2008), I know how it works. Now, because they already charged my insurance, I have to wait (up to two weeks) for a reversal...without the ability to order new contacts from anywhere else. Ridiculous. Classic bait and switch with prices and I know it's only $40 but it's the principle. And I love that they tried to tell me 1800contacts.com didn't take my insurance. Yes they do...just got off the phone with them and as soon as you put through my insurance reversal, they will charge me correctly and I'll owe $10 with free shipping. Which is what I would have done had you not claimed you price matched! I wish I could charge YOU for time wasted. Again, love Dr. Bowers but I can't stand when people don't honor prices and try to blame me for their incompetence. I cannot in good faith recommend this place.

I came to BlueGrass Eye Care Center after over 30 years of great treatment at another practice. I was hoping to get some creative thinking for problems I'd been having with contact lenses. I saw two different doctors in the practice at BlueGrass, but the prescriptions they gave me weren't as clear as I had hoped for. Shawn Combs patiently listened to my concerns, reviewed my charts and gave me several different trial pair of contacts to try. She clearly marked them so I could remember what I was trying, explained how each might work differently from the next, and urged me to come back (4 times!) until we got the prescription right. I'm very grateful to Ms. Combs. I can now see things I haven't been able to see clearly for years. And the reason for that success is Ms. Combs' patience and willingness to try and try again, using her outstanding knowledge of contact lens products. She could have sent me back to the doctors for yet another exam and another co-pay, but instead, she worked with me directly -- and kept a great attitude the entire time!

I was treated badly by the front desk, person, and the person who took me back to have my eyes examined. The front desk woman with the long dark hair told me well. We don't have your results so you will have it done. The one who took me back to have the eye exam questioned me on why I didn't have my paper signed, and when I explained to her that I had pulled up results from an eye test that I had done that I was going to show the doctor. I was told that if I didn't have the test done, she would be dilating me. Now mind you, I drove myself, so I was curious to how she was going to dilate me and why she said it in such a nasty way. But because I don't like conflict, I said do what you have to do when she was done. I went back to the room and waited for the doctor. I showed the doctor the results. She confirmed that I had that test done. I wasn't apologized too. I told her what her employees had done and said to me and that they were rude to me. It was basically just looked over. my point is this is a test that would have caused me an additional $40 and I felt that the way I was treated was unprofessional. Why are you trying to force me to pay for a test that I told you that I think I had already taken and I was looking to show it to you?! The only reason why this place even gets two stars is because of the woman that checked me out. She was very sweet very pleasant and knew how to talk to a patient. I'm not hard to get along with. I do not cause a scene. I do not raise my voice, but I do expect respect. And I don't feel that's too much to ask for considering I'm paying you to do a job for me. Dr. Ansari is an excellent doctor and I would give him 5 stars except for the occasional staff…read moremember with a bad attitude he has working for him (usually always the lady that checks you in). I've been to him for years and bring my children to see him. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, but there is always one bad apple. It's a different bad apple each time because the person doesn't stay for several years. Today, 08/07/17 it was Destiny. My children and I walked up to the check-in desk and Destiny with her iPhone in front of her acknowledged us with a flat greeting and no smile. Like many people her age that resent having to work, she sounded like she wasn't happy to be at work and not happy to see us when we showed up. She then proceeds to hand over 4 pages of paperwork to fill out for each child which is typical but because of her attitude, did not make me happy. Especially since the info is already in the system. I know that they need it updated but things go a lot smoother when people treat you with kindness. I told her she was rude and she said she was sorry but that she wasn't rude. I told her again that she was rude. It wasn't really a matter of debate but fact. I will continue to see Dr Ansari because he is an awesome doctor. Destiny won't be there the next time I come and if she is, hopefully she has learned to like her job and show it.
