If I can give this less than a one star or no stars at all I would I went early in the morning I understood there was a line but at the end of the day they were passing by people pretty quickly it took them about 4 to 5 hours to attend me and my dog just for my dog to end up dying there I needed so much help they didn't understand I would call for an assistant and they would only show up and tell me that they're doing the best they can knowing damn well that my dog was breathing heavy and did just not have the energy for anything you were able to see her weak I lost my best friend on June 16th it's bad enough that they put me in a room full of files so if you really think about it everything that they had there is not even organized I understand that they're opening a new office next-door originally but I mean come on to place me in a room where there's a bunch of files that can obviously be destroyed by anyone if they had a chance to they could especially those people that have no remorse I have a video of how she looked when I was in the office room but it won't let me upload it so I took screenshots of what I could. Heads up. Make sure you take off the whole day and bring a lunch. Went in at 8am. My dog was examined at 3pm. My dog went into surgery around 4 pm. They said he had to stay overnight. Unfortunately I was not contacted after my dogs surgery to know if everything was okay. Nor do they have an after hours number to call to ensure your beloved pet is doing fine. All night I had to wonder if everything was okay. Communication is a big issue at this place. read more

Waited 3 and a half hours to seen which isn't too bad if the place wasn't falling apart. It looks like a crack house. It smells like piss, the paint on the wall is coming off, the furniture is disgusting and old. The staff all stand around talking while you're waiting urgently for your pet. After waiting hours to be seen I had to wait 30 minutes to check out I had my cat with me all I needed was to get my meds, pay and leave. Absolutely do not recommend here. Please go anywhere else if your pet is going through a life threatening situation DO NOT COME HERE. I went on a Friday and was told that lab results would be in on Monday. This review is based on ear crop services only. I live in the SFV area hour and half away, but I chose to go to Dr Butchko due to his experience cropping and some referrals. I am a former Dr. Labounty customer, and I am more than satisfied with the results. He did a great job on my 9week old Doberman. You must be committed to this process as I had to drive to their office every 4 to 5 days for retaping for 4 weeks exactly, and then you wrap them yourself for the next 8 weeks. All the vet techs were friendly and caring and answered all questions. Yes, you do have to wait sometimes 2 hours. I suggest getting there before opening and wait in line. Bring a chair. Most times, I was out within 45 minutes when I did this. Don't let the reviews scare you off and I will definetly return and recommend Dr Butchko for ear cropping. read more

Friendly, caring people work here. Does not take appointments (perhaps for surgeries) but cannot beat the costs! Many vet techs do good work here. Bring water for you and your pet, location gets warm there. Worth the drive and wait. They have an early rush about 30 minutes before they open then again around 9am. For around 9am. I was happy with this place till this new guy came in. My dog had a UTI seemed like the meds were making him more sick. Looked up the meds and they were for clinical depression and skin infection!!! WTF I will have a lawsuit on this place as my dog is losing weight at a fast pace since being perscribed these meds. Also over 6mo ago we had spots removed off the dog and was told "if you dont hear from us, the results are negative for cancer." Found out a week ago that is not the case. He is positive for cancer!! This new guy is a quack and Im highly upset and will never take another one of my animals there!!!!! They haven't heard the last of me. IM NOT EVEN COMFORTABLE WITH GIVING THEM 1 STAR!! Everyone gets busy, but this is ridiculous. Walk-ins only. I was told about an hour wait. They said wait in your car, I waited for 3.5 hours with my puppy who has a fractured paw. No triage and 9 hours later still no call. Poor time management, no waiting area outside where a pet can relieve themselves, and poor communication. I live in downtown Los Angeles and will always make the drive here because I feel like they care and know what they are doing. and the prices are just night and day. They operate on volume and primarily cater to ear cropping and tail docking. This place is for breeders not pet owners! They do not have a real appointment system. Very disappointed with the experience today. They said walk ins are welcome I drove 20 miles and arrived at 4:10 they close at 5pm. I was told that no more walk ins are being accepted. When it clearly says walk ins welcome up to 30 minutes before closing. See pic. I explained that I just drove 20 miles in traffic to have my dog seen because he is not eating. I've been here multiple times with all my dogs. Yes I am aware of the wait I usually wake up at 4 am to have a chair in line so usually I'm 1-3rd in line and always get seen pretty soon. But a few months back I had a sick puppy keep in mind I was 2nd in line and they decided to pass me up and put at least 7 people in-front of me disregarding my place in line and my pet's health. Long story short waited till 4pm just for them to tell me I had to put my puppy to sleep. ....Ran into a lady with the cutest English bulldog a month later started talking about butchko and she replied with "dr butcher" couldn't agree more. my husband arrived at 8:30 AM and told them we needed our dog's ear drained from a hematoma, he waited 6 hours for the vet to come in and say "we don't drain hematomas only do surgery which costs around $850. Our dog has had this in the past and our old veterinarian had no problem draining it and sending him home. 1. they could have told us up front when we checked in that we wanted it drained that they do not provide this service. 2. The vet took less than a minute to look/ examine our dog. I will never go back to this place and honestly do not know how they are still in business. AND they are not price competitive with our local vets... I have a pet sitting business and my clients are always asking for Veterinarian referrals I will definitely spread the word to never go to Dr. Butchko. read more

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Butchko PET CLINIC AS THE EMPLOYEES THERE ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE. Our cat was sick and had bladder problems. In order to get help for him, we had to sit for about 1 hour in the lobby just for them to tell us that we had to come back again after 12 pm. We came back, and then we had to wait another half an hour until they finally took us in and then we had to wait another 15 minutes in the exam room to see our doctor and tell us what's going to happen and how much would that cost us. Not only that it was going to cost very expensive, but he also told us that our cat will be taken for 3 days and we would have to pick him up on Monday, even though that they are not working on Saturdays and Sundays. We asked what is going to be happening in those days and they told us that some technicians will be watching our cat! Not even a doctor! Some technician that won't be able to do anything if our cat will feel worse on Saturday and Sunday. When we asked if we could do this in one day, he said "do you want to jeopardize my license" we did not quite understand what he meant because our cat already had the same exact problem in January and some other clinic did this in one day and much cheaper than what they were offering. He started getting mad and rude, then he left and said "I need to talk to the doctor" we did not understand which doctor because we thought that he was the doctor. Then some other rude and mean lady came in and started saying pretty much the same thing he was saying, and she got mad and left too. I'm sorry, but I don't think that's something that people could call "professional". We waited in the exam room for about 20 minutes until some other lady came in and told us that they could not provide us with the services. We left and some other clinic was happy to help us for much cheaper price and did everything in one day, as we expected. read more

HORRIBLE! We took our dogs to this vet for many years and switched a few years ago bc we found a walk-in vet closer to us. When that vet closed, we went back to Dr. Butchko. It is VERY different now and seems all they care about is money. I understand it's a business, but we were seen in December and had bloodwork done to continue our elderly dog's meds. We were told we could get refills before a follow-up. I returned a month later to get a refill and was told they were out of the medication (after waiting 40min). They said to call to see if the med was back in stock, and when I did they said it was still on back-order but I could pick up a written prescription to fill elsewhere. When I showed up the following day I was told they couldn't give me a script. They needed to do blood work again to make sure he was doing ok. When I explained he had been on the med for over a year and was doing fine (as shown in the bloodwork they did the first time) the manager said I could go back to our old vet. Totally rude and dismissive. I asked to speak with Dr. Butchko and she said he was busy doing surgeries, even though I had seen him in the hallway 2 minutes earlier. The week before they were ready to give me the medication but they were out of it. Now it's too dangerous to give me a script? Because they can't make money selling it to me? It's an NSAID, like Motrin for dogs, not some narcotic! I drove 40min each way twice for nothing! We will NEVER return!! read more

Lol far from that we drive down there between his hours that he offers because there's no one answering the phones only a voicemail by him to find out his office is completely empty looks nice but empty after walking around for about 30 minutes I asked someone sitting in the parking lot which office was the doctor she pointed at the building next-door this should've been some kind of new on his door which was wasn't so I go into this place we're all kinds of people or just packed and they're like sardines with sick animals. I typically do not do reviews. Over the last 30 years I have used Dr. Butchko as a breeder. Although wait times have always been extended, what I experienced today was so outrageous I feel I had to say something. I am aware it will make little if any difference in their office practices. I arrived at 7:15 am and waited in line for them to open. There were approximately 30 people ahead of me in line. They opened late, after 8:15am. I was checked in at 8:50 am and told to wait in my car. I waited until 9:50 am. Then went into the office to see where I was. Was told there were a couple of people ahead of me still, they asked me to go back outside and wait for a call. Waited another hour. Went in, was told still 2 people ahead of me. I now decided to stay in and wait. I wait another hour. Ask again, told now 3 people ahead of me. My name was finally called for a room at 12:20 pm. Went into room and now waited 45 minutes with no one coming in to see us. At 1:15 I went out to office area, now basically almost all patients were gone. Was told now they had emergency's that took priority. Now everyone I had seen come in had now left. Long story short. I had finally leave. Never got seen. I came to have my dog spayed and a cherry eye repaired. Staff was rude and condescending. Although people say prices are good, time is money. Even the female doctor I spoke with was rude and demeaning. This used to be a place that even though I waited extended times everyone was pleasant and polite. Not anymore. Steer clear if you possibly can! Very disappointed. Father, Michael was so sweet and pleasant. This post in regard to Dr Butchko Veterinarian clinic located in Riverside. I have brought my animals here for years. They are cheap and reliable. Back in the day when his father was running the place. I took my cat that was mauled by 2 dogs. I knew the cat was going to be too far gone for them to anything but I did this for my daughter because it was her cat. I played by the rules. I lined up at 5am (first come, first serve) signed in at 8. Told them then how bad the cat was but "Doctors" don't get there until 10am. Ok, sat and waited in my car until then. Finally just took the cat inside and spoke to 3 different people "oh the doc just got here" there were people in front of you". NOW THERE WAS NOT!!! I begged at one point to please just look at my cat. My poor kitty died while in the waiting room this morning. He was never seen. No one ever even looked at him. They didn't even know what color he was or his name!! I know I should have took him to an emergency vet but I don't have $1000 up front to give them and they won't touch your animal unless you do!! My poor cat suffered greatly and I just wanted someone to see that and do the favor of putting him to sleep to ease his pain. They only thing that Dr. Butchko's office cares about is cropping dogs ears and docking tails and it was full of those animas this morning. I know if one of this people knew the shape my cat was they would have gladly let me go in front of them. No one has even called me to offer an apology or to even asked what happened. Not to mention a gentleman brought his Doberman in the before the office was open and he was banging on the door for help with his dog and the dog died right there on their door steps! This place is a complete joke. My wife and I decided to check this place out due to its "walk ins only" nature. BIG MISTAKE. Forget the costs, prices, or even the friendliness of the staff. Unless you bring your pet here for something FAST, you will end up waiting forever even if you get here at opening time. My wife and I were EIGHTH in line, yes, EIGHTH and we still have yet to speak to anybody especially ANY of the vets. As of this writing we have been waiting a total of 4 hours. Clock still ticking...never have I yelp reviewed a business before exiting the place. First time for everything I guess. Don't let that fancy new building that's opening fool you. Either the Father or one of the brothers. Now you wait for 5 to 6 hours and see some Dr. who I don't know. I can go any place and get that. The irrigating thing is, you go to Dr. Butchko to see him, and after waiting all day you get another Dr.. It's my understanding the Dr Steven Butchko mainly does surgeries. So after waiting 8.5 hours on Friday to see a dr for my sick cat, they did X-rays and bloodwork. They told me to call on Saturday for results. Saturday came and I called all day long!! No answer!! I called Monday morning, no answer. I finally drive 45 minutes back to the vet to try to get the results, only to be told that they can't give them to me, that I need to see a dr to get them........ First of all educate your staff to give the proper information the first time as to not waste even more of people's time. The cock eyed manager is about as sweet as a lemon and nobody really seems to care about animals that need a dr. They only want your money and nothing else. On top of that this place is FILTHY!! There should be better standards for animal care than this. An alley would probably be more sanitary than this place. This place is a rip-off. I brought my small dog in because she had a cough, I told them I thought it was kennel cough because of her symptoms. The doctor talked me into getting an X-ray and then told me it was my dogs heart and Trachea. They prescribed 3 meds and cost me almost 600 dollars, I was also waiting there for 5 hours. The cough only got worse and now my other dog is coughing as well, so today I brought her to sunny mead animal hospital, they examined her and said kennel cough. This only cost me 89 dollars with antibiotics and cough medicine. Dr butchko's office is a total money grab and they obviously don't care for their animal patients. read more
