Very nice ladies. The woman who did my hair (Ashley I believe), did so good. First time I've ever had my hair professionally done, and I fell in love. I did have a little accident, and part of the underneath of my head was not fully dyed to match the other side, so Ashley sent me back in and fixed it for free! AND, she gave me a discounted bundle of shampoo, conditioner, and hair oil. I have always been nervous about speaking up when it comes to mistakes like that, because I don't like hurting feelings or offending anyone, but Ashley reassured me that it was a pleasure to help fix me up. So I got a last minute appointment after arriving in town the night before. The girls were super friendly and the new gal ( sorry I forgot her name) was incredible. ive heard alot of good about dr flys and i saw one of the hair dressers post online offering 20% of a new client service,so i reached out to her and explained i had been butchered by another salon almost a year ago and couldnt stand the mess anymore asked if she could fix it up i sent pictures of my hair and of what i wanted because i wanted blonde/grey highlights added i also made a trip out to joplin so she could physically see my hair, i was then quoted $190 and then 20% off that. i made the appointment the day of appointment when she started services i again showed her the pictures of what i wanted and it was then obvious she was training someone, in the end its one week later and my hair looks no different then it did before services except now my hair is actually darker than when i came in for services you can t tell it was cut which she just made a few clips here and there when she started she then also said my total was $170 i was supposed to have hi and lo lights and a cut i ended up being charged$183 so day after day looking at my hair thinking about it that actually means my service was $228 for it to have been $183 after 20% off ........and its horrible i was blonde with grey tones just wanted lighter and i still cant do anything with my hair due to the unevenness.......HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED read more

I recently moved my 78 year old mother to Joplin. We tired this location based on a referral from a friend. I would not recommend this location to anyone. My mother requested a perm and cut before our vacation. I dropped her off to a warm welcome. I came back to find out that her experience was horrible. First, they took her over for a wash and managed to operate the chair incorrectly and my mother ended up being soaked all the way down her backside. The remainder of her time at the store was wet and cold. I came back to find her soaking. The stylist maybe had a couple months experience. She was friendly and talkative, but my mother said she kept stopping to read directions on doing the perm. The perm that they happily charged for was gone the next morning. The stylist said they were out of time so she could not complete a cut. My mothers hair looked like it did prior to our arrival their yet my bank account is down 120.00 dollars. They called for a follow review on our time. I tried to explain. I was placed on hold while they searched for their manager. The person came back and said they just left. Funny, how this took so long with one large open room floor. I then get a call back that the owner was going to have her back to try to fix the issues. I never got to speak with the owner. Just a person that offered one time which was during her doctor appointment. I was put on hold again with no alternative time offered. I was told i would get a call back. I requested a call back soon as we leave on Friday. I did not hear from them again all day Tuesday. No offer of a refund and only a offer of one time slot to make things better. I recommend you find a more professional location with stylist that have experience. The manager on duty should have greatly reduced my moms bill the day of the visit because of the water soaking alone - let alone the fake perm that was done by a stylist with 2 months training. read more

Also I wasn't happy with my cut or cor as I had shown her many pictures. I do not like confrontation. I called to ask if she could fix it. No one even returned my call. First time there I had a fine experience. 2nd time they did my hair gold/brown ... not blonde. (I have dirty blonde hair and most of the time don't even need a toner once I'm done with highlights because my hair lightens perfectly and easily with bleach only) I went to another salon to ask what I should do and they told me dr flys would probably fix it so I listened and I went back to dr flys. One of the managers "fixed" my hair. She killed it. My hair felt like gum and not only did it feel like gum but the highlights were not to the roots. Some places on my head were almost an inch away from the roots and the color was golden/brown instead of blonde. Also the entire time she was doing my hair she did not talk to me. She was clearly ticked that I complained and that it had to be fixed. I got in my car and cried! I had to go somewhere else to fix it after I waited 3 months and wore a hat every single day to let it grow out a bit before damaging it more to fix it. Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this salon. I've been getting my hair colored since I was 12, I'm 32 now, and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I went to a different salon after this bad experience and turns out most of the employees at the other salon new of stories similar to mine. The management at dr flys does not care about their customers experience based off of what I learned from my own experience and what I heard from multiple others. I attached a photo of my bright blonde highlights I got after waiting months for the nightmare of dr flys to grow out. Thankfully I was able to find someone capable of a simple highlight, which is NOT DR FLYS. One thing to note as well - I was charged a significant amount of money for round 1 of highlights ... no offer of a refund. They wanted the same girl, who messed up my hair to fix it but I asked for someone else. (If she could have done a good job the first time she would have but I believe she isn't capable of it from what happened to me) The manager said they were also short on dates for when it could be fixed as well. I have went to Dr. Fly's about two times now and went to Kagen and Mikayla, they were great, got the color I wanted and I left happy! When I came in recently (third time)I left very flustered and wanting to cry. I repeatedly showed a picture of my hair when it was white (like white white) and that is what I was assuming I was going to be getting. the girl was very professional and nice talking with me the whole time. But when it came to the reveal I was disappointed to see that my hair was a brass yellow color. I said this is not the color I wanted, I wanted white not yellow... One women offered for me to come in the next day and were honestly being super helpful, I was happy to know I was going to be getting my hair fixed the following day. I had a 50$ deposit in my account so they knew that I would be returning. I got a call the next morning from the manager who was unprofessional and would not let me speak, saying that I was not welcome back into the salon due to being "difficult". I simply said that is not what I wanted and agreed to come back, I was not mean to the girls in any way just simply expressing my concern for my hair color and not being happy with it. The manager said she looked at the video and said I should have paid yesterday (but my hair was unfinished and I put down a deposit) and made the excuse I was difficult in the past when I only had nothing but good experiences. So I am very confused on what happened and why they were unable to fix my yellow hair, is it because they can not do it or because they think they should have paid 150$ for yellow damaged hair? I honestly just wanted my hair white...:( I was supposed to be having my gender reveal that weekend and now I will be having yellow hair at it, just really upsetting.. Also when I went to get it fixed the other salon they said I had bleach caked on the back of my hair and they had to cut off 1 inch due to damage. Please give me back my deposit.. Wow! Highly recommend this wonderful place. I Made my first appointment Friday and they got me right in. Very friendly front desk and all of the stylist were very friendly and helpful. I got hair extensions for my sons upcoming wedding and my stylist (the manager of the salon) did an amazing job blending the pieces to match my hair. They normally have to order pieces to match your hair but she knew I was going on vacation and that I really wanted it done today. Can't believe she was able to make it happen but she did! Best hair extension job I've ever had. Highly recommend them and I'll be back. read more

Well, I ended up getting full bangs on a whim, thanks to Cassie's encouragement.. I love them so much! I never saw myself as a bangs girl, but I'm sold now! Used to be a great place but pricey. Had an appointment to have my hair cut and got a call from the day before which is standard for this place. I already knew that the lady who I had the appointment with had left the employ of this place. Missed the call and called them right back. Spoke to someone and stated I assume it's to make arrangements with another stylist. The woman laid the phone down and left me dangling for about seven minutes until I hung up. I could hear the laughing and carrying on in the background. This was on my mother's landline because the cellphone reception there is so bad. The phone company charges her 15 cents a minute for me to be ignored by Dr. flys staff. I actually went to the Carthage location and spoke to the only woman on duty as the whole place was void of customers and other employees. Explained that I know in that business stylists come and go, and I didn't have a problem, nor was it my business as to why the original woman no longer worked there, but that I did have a problem calling up there and the phone being laid down on the counter and being ignored. Well, I get a call from them when went to voice mail. The woman knew it was going to voice mail but she was being sarcastic, likely at the expense of the one who had recently left their employ. First thing I hear on the recording is her laughing a bit and saying "You're Fired!!!" Then she launches into the sorry for this and that. 1. Don't care what happened with the employ, fired, quit, whatever. Fired is my guess. It's not my business. 2. Don't brag about it, be sarcastic about it or make fun of the situation on the floor in front of other employees and more importantly in front of customers which she did both. 3. You know know it's going to voice mail don't be so stupid to leave a message that I will post on Youtube showing how unprofessional this rotten place is. Again, stylists come and go at salons. But, it's very unprofessional and stupid to leave me a recording to prove just how hillbilly they really are. I did find out where the woman who left the employ of this junkhole is currently working. I won't mention whether it was someone at the Joplin or whether it was someone at the Carhage location. But, after finding out more of the situation, I think the woman has a possible lawsuit against this place. read more

Make sure to have a solid appointment time/date set. This salon is notorious for erasing appointments, or over scheduling. It's real embarrassing to walk in expecting to be seen and then told you don't really have an appointment because someone messed up, and they had phone issues. Its happened to me twice at this salon.
